Lightroom v1.2 and canon raw
I am a new user of lightroom have had it for only a week, have just purchased a 40D imported my first lot of raw files without any problems. Removed images from Cf card and took more photos went to import them into lightroom and all that happens is I get a message "no photos were found to import". I have read that canon raw was not supported in lightroom or has this been rectified in v1.2 as it did import the first batch of photos.
Can some one enlighten me on what may have occurred.
thank you Peter
Peter, You may have selected "Auto reset" in the "File numbering" item of the camera's set-up menu, in which case it will start numbering the images from 1 again after re-inserting the CF card. When importing the next time into LR it will see the same file names and tell you that it does not find any new photos to import. This process is determined by file name only in LR and it will import the same file name of different formats having the same prefix, like when you shoot RAW + JPG and have _MG_0123.CR2 and _MG_0123.JPG.

Is there Camera RAW support for Lightroom 4.4 and Canon 7D Mark ii?
I need Camera RAW support for Lightroom 4.4 and Canon 7D Mark ii. Is there a Camera RAW version for me?
Thanks for your help. I checked out DNG on YouTube and understand more
about it. I downloaded the DNG converter and transferred in files from my
camera. Then I imported into Lightroom. It works! Thanks again.

Hi,
I have Lightroom 3.6 and Camera Raw 6.6 but I can't open my CR2 files from my Canon eos 6D
Lightroom doesn't show a thumbnail image and when trying to import it says the camera format isn't supported. But normaly Camera raw 6.6 should cover the Canon eos 6D
All help is welcome,
ThanksNo, the older versions are not free. If you upgrade you will have to get Lr5 unless you can still find Lr4 for sale somewhere as it has been discontinued by Adobe. You can also use the FREE DNG converter to convert the 6d files for use in Lr3.6.

Adobe SystemsHi All:
based on the good work of Dorin above (post #19), he did a timeline of various releases of Lightroom from Adobe and it shows that from "version x RC" to "final release version" was around 1 month.
as it is already exactly one month now, it must not be too much longer till they will release the LR2.3 Final Version.
As for what Robert said in post #23, well, there's never any "guarantee" on a problem-free piece of software, or, for that matter, anything one purchases or anything in life, actually!! Yet, one can make educated extrapolations, right? From the range of comments thus far on LR2.3RC, it appears that it is the best version yet of LR2.x. This leads to the conclusion that it is probably a "good bet" that this version will likely lead to the least amount of issues, right? Maybe not "zero issues", but most likely, the least amount of issues from the various LR2.x versions available.
So by waiting, say, merely 1-3 more weeks approximately, i can go directly from LR1.4 (which i've been using for many months) to LR2.3 Final Release Version. It seems like it is a prudent and conservative move or plan.
What do the good folks here think, please?
thanks in advance for helping me to mull this over. If i were a PC expert, i'd be thinking about this less. as i'm just a somewhat competent user, and not a whiz, i thought that a bit of care and planning it out intelligently can possibly reduce frustrations later. -

Not at all. I like good tools, and from everything I read Bridge is marvelous. I don't have anything against Bridge, I just don't need it.
As a computer engineer, I use my computer for WAY more than just Photoshop. As such, I do everything I can to have the operating system (via Windows Explorer) integrate things for me.
For example, via right-click or double-click or drag and drop onto icons:
I access my configuration management system from Explorer (Tortoise SubVersion).
I do searches (grepWin) from Explorer.
I compare things (Beyond Compare) from Explorer.
I start Photoshop and other image tools on raw and processed image files I manage with Explorer.
I start my development tools (Visual Studio and a host of utilities) from Explorer (e.g., double click .sln files).
I access my web sites with Explorer (via WebDrive).
I get file paths from Explorer (right click, Send to Clipboard as Name).
I access office management apps from Explorer (e.g., double click .doc or .xls files).
This is an abbreviated list. Explorer can be a VERY powerful integrator, and is at the center of my computing world at a higher level. So now you can start to imagine why I prefer Explorer for image work.

Lightroom 3.2 and Camera Raw 6.2 final releases are available
Lightroom 3.2 and Camera Raw 6.2 are now available as final releases on Adobe.com and through the update mechanisms available in Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3. These updates include additional lens profiles support among others. Check out http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/. Following the example of Adobe's collaboration with SIGMA, leading lens manufacturers such as Pentax, Tamron and Zeiss worked closely with Adobe to create some of the profiles.
-SimonExcellent! Now if there were only a way to use my S95 in raw... I guess I'll have to wait another few months

Here is a draft of my final release notes for working with Lightroom 3 and Camera Raw 5.7:
Viewing Lightroom 3 settings in Camera Raw 5.7
Before working in conjunction with Lightroom 3 and Camera Raw please set the Camera Raw preference to: Save image settings in: Sidecar ".xmp" files. By default Camera Raw will display the image adjustments exactly as performed in Lightroom’s develop module. However, at this time Camera Raw 5.7 is unable to support further adjustments to the following settings or tools:
Highlight Priority and Color Priority post-crop vignette
Enhanced Luminance and Color Noise Reduction
Grain effects
Process Version
Lightroom is also dependent on a compatible version of the Camera Raw plug-in for the "Edit in Photoshop" functionality to work properly. Camera Raw 5.7 will ensure that Lightroom 3 beta 2 will maintain that compatible functionality with Photoshop CS4.

That seems to clarify the interoperability of ACR 5.7 and LR 3. Thank you for that, Mr. Hogarty.
Now, for the benefit of those of use who are not and/or will not be using Lightroom 3 for whatever reason, perhaps Mr. Chan or you can address the question of whether ACR 5.7 RC has a different or improved Noise Reduction functionality over that of ACR 5.6, and/or whether this will be the case for the final, GM release of ACR 5.7. Let's leave any and all versions of LR out of the equation for a second, please.
I think I see improved Noise Reduction in ACR 5.7 RC, but I wonder if this is real or whether I've just improved my skills in handling the noise reduction sliders since earlier versions.
Thanks.

Lightroom, Camera Raw, DNG Product ManagerThanks for your update Tom.
I will install both but wanted to ask about a recovery slider issue I was seeing with Canon RAW files & homemade DNG profiles in Lightroom.
The recovery slider was shifting colors towards magenta as more was applied..
Has this been addressed with the ACR 5.5 release?
If so, do I need to re-make all of me homemade DNG profiles after installing ACR 5.5?
Thanks -
So, I have been searching the forums for the last hour and can't find if Canon DSLR RAW (via Magic Lantern) is supported in CC 2014. It does state that 'Canon RAW' is supported. I'm Shooting RAW video from my 5D MK3 in 1920x1080 and if this format is supported, I would definitely look into including this as I haven't seen the need to upgrade from CS6. Does anyone know if this is the case? If it is, how will it work? Will it integrate with ACR? Not sure how they will address the 14bit format?? Thanks in advance
[Please choose only a short description for the thread title.]

Yosemite and Canon RAWs - Random "Unsupported File Format"
It all started with Yosemite betas, random raw files in Aperture would pop up with the dreaded "Unsupported File Format" graphic. I tried a lot of stuff, rebuild the library, delete prefs, etc. Nothing work. I tried exporting the raws and neither iPhoto or Preview would open them. Downloaded the LightRoom 5 trial and it opens the files fine. OK, tried Aperture on a laptop with Mavericks, the files open fine there too. So it looks like it is something in the way that MacOS is handling
Any ideas? Now with the final release of Yosemite and Aperture 3.6 trying to open one of these file just crashes the software. I can't really say I like LightRoom but if I have to move on, I guess I will. What version of iPhoto is it?
The issue is that the OS provides RAW support, but the applications need to leverage it. Aperture 1.5.6 is old: Aperture 2.0 came out in March of 2008 so there hasn't been an update to Aperture 1.5 since 2007-ish. It is unlikely that any cameras that shipped since then will ever be supported in Aperture 1.5.x.
The improvements/advantages to going with Aperture 3.1 over 1.5 are huge (assuming you have a capable machine) and well worth it. -
Camera Conector and Canon Raw files
Hi
I have a Canon 30d, looking at buying a Ipod 30gig to use as a back up whilst shooting and filling a 1 gig cf card rather than keep buying cf cards...
Will the ipod accept the raw files? and will I be able to view the photos ie can an ipod read canon raw file format??
thanks
SteveHi
Whether or you can transfer raw photos from a camera to the iPod via the camera connector I don't know. However, I do know that on the older iPods (the ones with the color screen which can't play video) you could transfer a movie (mpg) that you had shot on a digital camera. Although the iPod couldn't play the movie, you could see tell if the movie had transferred, and you could then transfer the movie from iPod to the computer with no problems. Thus, it may be possible to transfer raw photos from camera to iPod via the camera connector and then from iPod to computer. However, the iPod CANNOT display raw photos, so even if you can transfer them, you won't be able to see them.
Hope this helps

Lightroom and Canon RAW Files. THIS NEEDS TO GET RESOLVED!!!
I am EXTREMELY frustrated and unhappy with Lightroom's performance when it comes to processing my Canon 1D Mark II N's .cr2 files. I know others are having this issue with most other Canon models, and I KNOW there are other threads about this. However, I'm about to the point where I cannot stand to process images in Lightroom anymore, due to this frustrating situation.
I know this has to do with the fact that Canon doesn't release their proprietary RAW data, so LR has to "guess" what the image should look like when it is initially imported. HOWEVER, come on Adobe, can't you do a better job at GUESSING? My colors look like CRAP!
Now, before all of you jump on me about develop presets and all that, let me make a couple of things clear.
- I'm a professional wedding and portrait photographer. Not to sound like an ***, but I know what I'm talking about on this issue. Please don't start making a bunch of suggestions on how to change color space etc... It's all been tried before.
- I calibrate my monitor. This issue has nothing to do with that anyway.
- I DO NOT have any automatic presets set to run in lightroom on import OR export.
- I will not shoot JPEG. Don't say "just shot jpeg" and expect this to be solved.
Here's a screen shot of Lightroom running side by side with Canon's DPP software. For the record, I HATE DPP, but it provides SUPERIOR RESULTS.
DPP is on the left. LR is on the right. No develop settings or presets were applied - the images shown are SOOC after import.
http://meeksdigital.com/images/frustration/dpp-lr.jpgPeter, You may have selected "Auto reset" in the "File numbering" item of the camera's set-up menu, in which case it will start numbering the images from 1 again after re-inserting the CF card. Lightroom 4.3 and Default Raw from 6D
Hi I'm new to lightroom and I'm experiencing a problem with LR.
It appears LR modifies/renders my raw images by default for lack of better words, below is a picture of the same photo compared side by side with the default canon software, LR seems to do something silly which makes the photos look like poo:Your display profile is corrupt, usually this is because it came from the monitor manufacturer or is otherwise incompatible with LR. If I use my monitor-manufacturer’s profile LR has a yellow color-cast.
Try setting your display-profile/monitor-profile to sRGB-whatever and see if things clear up. -

Under all other conditions the iMac so far has been without problems. Is this aproblem in the video driver?
