Lightroom will not start using desktop icon

Installed new version of LR CC. Program downloaded, installed, and put a new icon on my desktop. However clicking / double clicking on the icon will not start the program

Yes I have the same problem with Lightroom CC 2015 on a Win 7 with service pack 1. I've updated my nVidia driver to no avail. And it is not just the shortcut - I cannot run the program directly from the executable either. Here is the system info using photoshop.

Firefox will not open using my icon. i have to right click than click open. how can i fix this?

Try to create a new desktop shortcut for the Firefox program by going to the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) and use the right-click context menu (Send to > Desktop) on the Firefox.exe file.

Exe file will not start using a Measurement studio 2013 component

Hello,
I use Meausrement studio 2013 with visual studio 2012 and vbnet on windows 7.
On a new project (windows form application), i use a form and a ScatterGraph component. I compile, no errors and it works fine.
Now, i try to start this application on a another Windows 7 station. (The framework 4.5 is installed on its station).
The exe file is in a directory with the natrional Instruments dll files.
The exe file will not start, no errors.
PS: Before, with Meausrement studio 2010 and visual studio 2010 all worked fine.

It sounds like you are using the "Publish" feature in Visual Studio (a.k.a., ClickOnce) for deployment, is that correct? If so, unfortunately ClickOnce is not supported by Measurement Studio components.
If you are looking for a good way to deploy Measurement Studio applications, I would highly recommend upgrading to Measurement Studio 2015, which ships with Measurement Studio Installer Builder. You can read more about this here: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/52669/en/

ITunes will not start on desktop. How to solve?

Over the last few weeks, iTunes will not start without my going through several reboots of my desktop.
When it does deign to start it always goes through the interminable "checking iTunes library".
Also, when it finally starts, it is frequently not now finding my iPhone.
It won't always connect with the iTunes store.
I could uninstall and re install but I don't know how to do this without losing the libraries.
Why is this happening and is there an easy solution, please?

As an aside, my iPhone started iTunes when plugged in, this morning. But the site neither recognised the iPhone nor would connect to the iPhones store. It hung on the annoying Genius update. Replugging did not even open iTunes.

My iphone 4 displays connect to itunes on start however when you connect it to the PC it will not start. the apple icon comes on the goes off again. please advice

the iphone 4 runs iOS 4.3, it did not incur any physical damage. The phone went off and when i connected it to the charger it brought up the cable icon and arrow saying connect to itunes. i tried connecting to the PC however it will not boot. it only only starts to the point of displaying the apple sign and then restarts. this sequence repeats.
please advice on what to do?

you can try downloading tiny umbrella and kicking it out of dfu mode... that may or may not work other wise you will have to make a trip to the apple store for replacement

Hi peeps: have been solving an adware problem by resetting firefox on and off for 12 months. Now I canonly open it in task manager...shortcut icons/ start bar won't work. Any tips much appreciated

Adobe Lightroom will not start or open

Install lightroom. Everytime I try to open lightroom I get the following error:
Lightroom cannot create a catalog named "Ligthroom 3 Catalog" on a network volume"
Anybody have any ideas?

The error message is telling you what is wrong from LR's point-of-view. You have to use LR with a catalog on a locally attached hard-drive, not a network drive. The catalog that LR is either automatically trying to open, or that you are selecting to be opened is on a network drive not a local drive.
When you start LR for the first time, or if you press the Alt key while starting LR, you should have the option to create a new catalog. Do this and make sure the catalog location you select is on a local drive and not a network drive. The reason for this restriction is that LR's catalog file must not be accessed by more than one person at a time and having it on a network invites this complication. LR is licensed for a single user at a time, not a multi-user network situation.
If you have installed LR on a network-bootable workstation that has no locally-attached hard-drives then a possible option would be to attach a hard-drive via USB or Firewire and use that for the location of the catalog. It would be slower than an internal drive, but if that's your only option, it is an option. Of course if your workstation doesn't have a local drive and doesn’t' allow attaching drives via USB or Firewire or eSATA, then you're out of luck and need to try a different computer that has local storage available.

OC4J_SECURITY process will not start using opmnctl

Using opmnctl startall:
OID: status = Alive
HTTP_Server: status = Alive
OC4J: status = NONE
Can someone please help me to trouble shoot the reason why I cannot start my OC4J_SECURITY process?

If you do try note 431683.1 - OC4J_SECURITY Fails to Start Common Causes
Check to see what the OC4J~OC4J_SECURITY~default_island~1 log file contains.

Lightroom will not start!

I just installed a trial version of Lightroom 4 for Mac today. But when I went to start it up, partways through the startup it stopped and a small window popped up that says: "This Beta version of Lightroom has expired. The application will now quit." What is going on?? I tried a couple more times to start it up again, but it just does the same thing. What is wrong with it, and can/how do I fix it??

It means what it says - it's an expired pre-release. Download the correct retail version from Adobe directly.

The new lightroom will not start up.

I have been using Lightroom CC 5.7. I downloaded the new lightroom CC (2015) and installed using creative cloud. I have uninstalled and installed with no luck, including restarts. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I am using Window 7 64 bit.

I went to the Photoshop Lightroom forum and found this solution. It worked!

Macbook Air 10.5 will not start up Folder Icon "?"

I started up my MacBookAir and I got a Folder Icon "?"
I pulled out my DVD drive and booted off the DVD StartUp Disk that came with the computer.
I pulled up the Disk Utilities and performed a Disk Repair
I got a B-Tree Error
and then it said that it could not repair it.
Is there away to repair the Boot Up for the computer?

Thank you, I just forward a email to DiskWarrior to see if I can do a Download to repair the Air, or if I need to have them send me a DVD.
