Lightroom - WIndows - Mac interoperabilty

I use a MAC at home and a Windows notebook when I travel. I also have a Windows backup system in my home. I am looking for a Digital Asset Manager like Lightroom that will not lock me into the Windows or Mac enviroment. It is a shame Adobe did no not port the Album feature into the MAC version of Elements. I tried Iview Media but was not impressed with the UI.
Any thought or suggestions on Lightroom for cross platform photo management would be welcome.

Hi, yes, the libraries are interchangeable! I have set up a quick/limited test of this but it isn't my regular setup, so don't know the ins and outs. I have used a MAC laptop with Win desktop. Same would apply for the reverse.
Findings:
By exporting and importing files, you can retain adjustments, keywords, etc, and the average user could probably do this.
In keeping with the process I started, I attempted to synchronise the data by using the same library file. The ONLY issue I encountered with using the same library and presets is that since the MAC and Windows file systems are different, I had to locate my folder in the Windows version after setting it up on the MAC. Eg. MAC->MyPics->XTi->2006-12-29 had to translate to f:\MyPics\XTi\2006-12-29.
So if your goal is to keep libraries synchronised between your Laptop and Desktop, this is going to be a common/major problem. The file export / import option (XMP / DNG) will be the better way to go.
However, if you simply use your laptop for new shoots, then "merge" with the desktop, it will be a one-time thing. Actually, I still see this as being a pain, as there is no real merge function, so you still need to have your complete Windows library on the MAC for when you import the new folder. You just don't need to locate all missing folders on the MAC.

I never did it from Windows to Mac.
I assume you need to move everything to Mac PSE12 (or PSE 13) by downloading the 30 day free trial of PSE 12 or 13, and then once everything is working, use File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog in Lightroom. Your tags and albums will remain intact. I believe the face recognition transfers as well to keywords, but the location in the photo of the face will be gone as Lightroom has no such feature.

Lightroom 5, Mac. Problem with the Radial Tool. Marquee Lines disappear.

Lightroom 5 Mac. Problem with the Radial Tool. I use this tool a lot. I must have hit a hot key by accident because between photos the marquee lines have disappeared and i don't know how to get them back. Without the marquee lines there I cannot rotate or expand the radial tool.

I have attempted to uninstall, empty trash and a fresh download from Adobe. The problem is still there...

Adobe loves confusing people with their marketing copy. Without trying, they often obfuscate the simplest of processes with poor wording.
The platform swap process only applies to perpetually licensed versions since they're tied to platform specific serial numbers: Mac or Windows, never both ( applies to CS6 and lower). Not CC which is licensed for both Mac and/or Windows via your Adobe ID, so there's no platform swapping necessary.
What Adobe is trying to say is that you can only swap platforms for the most current perpetually licensed version.
e.g. CS6 Windows can be transferred to CS6 Mac.
However, CS5 Windows cannot be transferred to CS5 Mac. You must pay the upgrade cost from CS5 to CS6 and swap platforms at the same time (that's a crossgrade). e.g. CS5 Windows to CS6 Mac is OK.
Photoshop CC is entirely different. It is available to anyone but only via subscription, even without ever previously owning any Adobe software. There's no upgrading or crossgrading. You simply join up - but keep in mind that you never own the software.
You don't need CS5 or CS6 to start subscribing to Photoshop CC. There's no connection with your CS5 license other than you can use your CS5 license to get a discounted rate for the first 12 months of CC membership.

Trying to request Context3D with Context3DProfile.STANDARD_EXTENDED profile throws "Error #2008: Parameter profile must be one of the accepted values" error on desktop systems (Windows and Mac OS X). Doesn't matter if you use requestContext3D or requestContext3DMatchingProfiles method, both don't work if you try to request Context3DProfile.STANDARD_EXTENDED.
It has been tested with AIR 17.0.0.124 on Windows 7 & 8.1 x64 and Mac OS X Yosemite. Same problem in all cases. It works fine with Android and iOS.
I'd like to ask everyone affected by this issue to take a minute and vote for the following bug.

Lightroom and MAC Pro (intel) after Snow Leopard Upgrade?

I have heard several horror stories about serious operational problems with Lightroom and MACs after they have upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard.
I have been trying to get to the bottom of it, but all I have been able to glean is that yes, there are some issues, but I can't find out cause and effect.
Since I heard of the things I have not opened any Adobe Software, and won't until I can be assured that I too don't experience the same horror story.
Are there any people out there that have experienced any of these problems? If so, do you know what caused them, and, more importantly, how to fix them?

Some users have reported that Edit in Photoshop CSx functionality is partially broken (e.g. Open as Smart Object launches Photoshop, but image doesn't actually open).
With Photoshop (and many other applications) there are reports of the application crashing when the user tries to save a JPG file.
Source of problem? Snow Leopard
Is it really the problem that some would have you believe? Nope
Are there any workarounds? Ask Apple
BTW: I use Snow Leopard and don't have a problem recommending it to others.

Problem initiate AV chat with other ichat (both windows & Mac)..

I'm able to accept ichat AV from both windows (aim 5.9) and from os x user; however, whenever I initiate ichat connection to either mac or windows user, I keep getting the error:
"Failed to start video chat because user did not respond", but the user did respond..
I'm able to "accept" AV chat from other windows/mac user without any problem.
I've done the following so far, turn off firwall on my imac.. configure port forwarding on my 2wire router following the apple support article (tho, my windows machine is also behind this firewall and I was not able to initiate chat with the windows box).
I saw a previous discussion about this problem someone else has and the suggestion was to reboot the machine.. which I did that and it still didn't help. Oh, I did update to the most recent ichat program as well.
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I tried chatting with RjinWI last night and I was able to initiate an AV ichat with him (mac version) bu† I was not able to initaite AV ichat with RjinWI PC, I was no† able to initiate another AV ichat with another Mac user on the list (unfortunately, I forgot who that was) but I was able to initiate with ichatavtesting. My Buddies defintely can ichat with others and he may also initiate a chat to my imac.
Since then, I have upgraded my firmware which didn't help.. but a small break through was that after I reboot my imac (without having any program running on the imac), I started my ichat and I was then able to initiate AV chat with RjinWI PC.. but a few hours later (after I open my thunderbird, firefox).. I was having problem initiating AV chat with RjinWI PC again... pretty strange?
Since then, I restarted my imac again and now it's working again.. and I have both firefox and thunderbird open.. and AV chat with RjinWI PC is still working.
At least with this info, the problem might not be with my router afterall? I wonder if there is any program that might be blocking the port(s) or using the same ports (I read about the VOIP program issue with ichat, which I'm not using)? So far I have started opening one program at a time and see if I may duplicate the problem (at first I thought it might have been one of the widget program.. "doppler radar" and "live web cam" but I have disable and re-enabled them.. and yet my ichat is still functioning as we speak). If you have any other idea, please let me know. If I am able to gather more info.. I'll be sure to post more info. Thanks again.

You can try with Lightroom 5, though it is not tested & approved with 10.6.8, if that doesnt work, go for lightroom 4.

The first thing to do is to download the trial and see if your serial number will work in the mac trial. If not, you will need to contact Adobe. This is just the user to user forum and we're just other customers like you.
