Lightroom won't install - Why?

My LR2 refuses to be installed. Every time the process is about halfway, it stops with the following text: "The file 'lightroom.exe' is not marked for installation". Any ideas on what I should do (apart from trying to get a refund) ? gw

The Windows Installer Cleanup utility gets installed to C:\Program Files\Windows Installer Clean Up. You can browse to that folder and double-click to run the utility. It will give you a window with a list of all programs installed by Windows Installer. Scroll to "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2", select it and click Remove button.

  • Need configure wifi, but adobe air cd won't install, why?

Am trying to configure wifi after installing new motorola wireless modem sbg901 and am trying to run the cd wifi instrux.
It asks to install Adobe Air, but it won't install. Why can't I install Adobe Air?

Thanks for that link.  Got it downloaded.
It appears that something is wrong with my laptop... because the downloaded file stalls at the same point as the disc.  While it still says "Installing Shared components".  This is when the green progress bars stop(about 10% of the way) and the HDD activiity light on the laptop stops as well.
Back when I reinstalled windows, I had some issues updating.  Once I got to a certain point, one of the updates would render my laptop screen completely blank.... so after reinstalling a few times, I stopped installing updates at a certain point... though I did make it to Service Pack 2.
That's the only reason I can think of, as to why the program won't install. It's really odd.
BTW:  I did shut down the antivirus while attemptinng Premiere install.

  • Lightroom won't install through CC desktop app

I have a CC subscription, and when I got my new iMac today I started to download some of the adobe applications. It worked all fine with Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects, but when I tried to download Lightroom I got some problems. For the first I can't find Lightroom through the CC dekstop app so I went to creative.adobe.com to download it from there. When I clicked the download link I got a message box asking if I wanted to open it in the CC desktop app. I pressed yes, and when the desktop app appeared it said that Lightroom was fully upgraded. No download time, it just said the app was there. But I can't find the app on my computer. It only states in the desktop app that it's installed or something.
I think this can be resolved if I somewhat uninstall Lightroom from my iMac. But I don't know how to do that, or even if it is possible? Anyone know anything about this problem?
I run on Mac OSX Mavericks

    Somehow it resolved itself now.
Think the mac needed a reboot...

  • I paid for CC, but Lightroom won't install. Trial version is useless - an empty screen. I have no serial # - I'm guessing because nothing installed

How do I get rid of the trial version and get the one I paid for?

    Antonia-
I don't have enough information from your post, and I am not sure if you are on mac or pc,  but see if one of these fits your issue:
If you don't see "install" by Lightroom in the application manager, please first try signing out and back in:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/sign-in-out-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html
If creative cloud is asking for a serial number when you start a Creative Cloud (CC) application, see this link: Creative Cloud applications ask for serial number
IF when you open an application that's part your Creative Cloud membership and you see a message stating you're running a trial, see this link:
Creative Cloud applications unexpectedly revert to trial mode | CS6, CCM
If you updated the desktop installer and the screen is blank: try this:
    Rename the opm.db file.
Close the Creative Cloud application if it's running.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder
Rename the opm.db file to opm_old.db
    Launch Creative Cloud

  • Lightroom won't install; says I need administrative privileges

I already have Photoshop CC. I updated to the new photography package with Lightroom and Photoshop and it keeps saying I need administrative privileges.

Is it Lightroom or your operating system that says you need Administrator privileges?  Usually you do need this to install new software.

  • Lightroom won't install from cloud

I keep getting an error message when trying to install lightroom, but photoshop, and bridge have worked fine. Is there an error with lightroom, its the main reason I have joined the cc option, as my lightroom version was LR2, so really wanted the upgrade!

Peonyphoto for Exit Code 7 please see Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html.  You will also want to review your installation log files in more detail to determine the exact directory where your file permissions have become compromised.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.

  • Lightroom won't install

I am a creative cloud member, trying to download lightroom, and getting the following message when I do: "Adobe Genuine Software Failure. The product you are trying to install is not an Adobe Genuine Software and appears to be counterfeit." How is this possible when I am downloading directly from Adobe Creative Cloud and am signed into my active account?
There are only two possible reasons I can think of for this:
    1) I *may* have previously downloaded LR, though I don't believe I ever installed it. (I definitely haven't used it yet). BUT, I can't find it anywhere on my PC to uninstall.
    2) My CC account was recently deactived for about ten minutes because my credit card failed ( I kept forgetting to update my billing info after I closed that account). It is definitely active now, with payment made and billing information updated...but perhaps the system is still seeing it as inactive somehow? (Photoshop is running just fine, however).
Of course, it could be neither of these... I'm not exactly a computer-whiz.
Please help, as I am finally in a position where I want and need to use Lightroom, and sooner rather than later.
    Thank you!

Natkita1 please see Warning: "Adobe Genuine Software Validation Failure..." | Windows - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/digital-certificate-revoked-aam.html.  If you continue to experience difficulties then it may be a problem with the download itself.  Please try an alternate Internet connection to see if you still face the same difficulty.

  • Since I've updated the software on my ipad2 my apps won't install, why?

I've recently updated the software of my ipad2 to ois5.1.1 and since I've done it I can't install apps. They appear on my home screen but just say waiting!!!! Why is this???

Check iTunes and see if you have a pending or stalled download in there. If you do, finish that download or delete it if you can. If you can't finish or delete the download on the iPad, do it in iTunes on your computer and then sync the iPad. Then go back to the apps and see if they will download.
If that doesn't work or if that was not the problem, go to Settings>Store >Apple ID, tap your ID and sign out. Then reboot the iPad, Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Then go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and sign in again and see if the apps will update.

  • Lightroom 2 won't install at all

    Hi, folks--
Could anyone suggest why my new version of Lightroom 2 won't install at all on my system? At first I thought that it was because my comp didn't meet the minimum requirements, but I believe it does, so I'm stumped. I received a Windows Installer error message stating, "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package." I'm trying to install from a brand-new CD purchase made through Amazon, so I trust the retailer. I have a valid serial number and all that.
I'm running Win XP Pro, SP3.
    Thanks for the help!
    -Greg

My suggestion is to download the trial (which is the full version) and try that. You can then add the serial number on the one you purchased.

  • Why WINDOWS 8.1 won't install/load on PC where WIN 8 runs Fine ?

Why WINDOWS 8.1 won't install/load on PC where WIN 8 runs Fine ?
As far as System Requirements go, they are the same for WIN 8 and WIN 8.1
    Sympton:
Windows 8.1 Installation DVD loads for some time, no circle of dots, then PC reboots
with quick flash of six lines or so of white text (on black backgound) @ 106 seconds
Needed to use Smart Phone video camera to capture
    Your PC needs to restart.
Please hold down the power button ...
    Error Code:0x000000C4
    Parameters:
    0x000...91
    0x000... F
    0xFFFFF800699C5A80
    0x00000000000000000
    0x00000000000000001
Presumably message is intended for frozen PC, hence 'hold down power button'
In this case it flashes and re-boots
Windows 8.1 Image loads quickly, flash and reboots PC, having corrupted boot entry
(thankfully not other entries in Boot Manager situated on Dell System Reserved Partition)
    PC Desktops affected:
    Dimension 5000 - shipped JAN'05
    RAM 4GB
    Intel Pentium 4 640 3.20Ghz 64bit NX enabled
    ATI Radeon HD 6450
    Dimension 5150c/XPS 200 -shipped MAR'05
    RAM 3GB
    Intel Pentium D 820 2.80Ghz 64bit NX enabled
    Intel 82945G WDDM 1.0
Both the above PC's Install and run Windows 8 without a hiccup
    Another 'ancient' machine, but unaffected:
    Precision 490 Desktop - shipped OCT'07
    RAM 4GB
    2 x XEON 5365 3.0Ghz
ATI HD 6450 (Now HD 7750)
All 8.0 & 8.1 clean Installs and Upgrades on this platform had no problems
Hope some of you can throw some light on this. What does WIN 8.1 do in the boot
process that WIN 8 does not?
And if anybody has encounterd this before...
Note to multi booters - keep or reinstall Dell or other System Reserved partition (PRI,Active)
EasyBCD/Windows Boot Manager held on this partition (eg. 350MB)
If it gets corrupted, you can Restore it, rather than Gigabytes of 1st Primary O/S
Also, it will solve a lot of problems, when manipulating/adding/backing up/restoring O/S's
    That's it, happy computing...

Fellow user from St. Louis, Missouri pointed in the right direction. I'm grateful
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Running upgrade assistant (going to Store rejects CPU, but no details)
    Results in:
    X You can't install Windows 8.1 because your processor doesn't support LAHF/SAHF.
X You can't install Windows 8.1 because your processor doesn't support PrefetchW.
There are at least three Processor requirements that M'soft does not list for WIN 8.1
and it's fairly well documented, if you ask the right question, eg.:
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/2058683/new-windows-8-1-requirements-strand-some-users-on-windows-8.html
So that's it, exclusion by 'stealth' - at least M'soft told you that processor required NX - Execute Disable Bit
    for Windows 8
For Intel units, look out for 'VT-x. Have a processor on the way, but will Motherboard pass CMPXCHG16b test?
    AND PrefetchW AND LAHF/SAHF
Windows 8 support ends 2015, that means people who bought it will have had 2 years use
WIN 8.1 Upgrade/Update (sic) is free, but costly if it won't run on your machine
So, those many people who decried Windows 8 and stuck to WIN 7, were right after all
Early supporters of WIN 8, have been 'betrayed'
'Minimum Requirement for Processor 1Ghz - don't make me laugh! (Presumably for Phone 8)
M'soft have a 'more info' link on System Requirements page, so why not spell it out...
Otherwise it looks like a PR/Cosmetic exersize
    Not helpful

  • Why can't I open PDFs anymore and Adobe Reader won't install.

Why can't I open PDFs anymore and Adobe Reader won't install? This happens only in Safari. I have tried changing my security preferences but it doesn't help.

    missyzz,
which version of OS X is installed on your Mac, and which version of Adobe Reader do you have installed? Did you ensure that all of your browsers were not running when you’d installed Adobe Reader?
To use Preview to open PDFs, download the PDFs to your Mac, and then use Preview to open the PDFs locally. Since you can open PDFs in Firefox, it sounds like you don’t need the Preview workaround.
