Lights Shining Through Sides of iPhone?

i just got my third iphone, after two that had problems with them, and noticed something that i hadnt on my previous ones. on the front pannel, where the screen is, there are four areas that look like theyre either not patched well or something, where the light from the screen shines through. theyre not huge, just dots/specks of light. theres one on both left and right sides of the top and bottom black pannels, where the black meets the silver trim. does anyone else have this? sorry if i didnt explain it too well...

Why are there so many QC problems? In my eyes, and my experience, there aren't. We have three iPhones in my immediate family, two bought on day one, and all three have never missed a beat. This makes you posting hard to believe. Are you saying that because you have no sync issues, no hardware issues, no scratches, or other such problems that the remainder of the people posting to this thread are experiencing "fictitious" failures. Come on, just because you are not experiencing what appears to be QC problems does not mean they are not there or they are not having issues.
I too do not experience many of the problems that other are experiencing but I do acknowledge that others are having problems regardless of what they may be. My concerns are with functionality.
Not pointing the finger at anyone, but I wonder how much of the complaining and commiserating on this board comes from people who are just plain poor at understanding and using complex consumer electronics, people who are are buying and selling iPhones of questionable origin, or folks who contrive stories just so they can complain about Apple.
Not saying that you are pointing any fingers but lets face it, the consumer is a lot smarter than you give them credit for.
Additionally, there are a lot of posters on this entire forum that may in fact have a lot of experience - in some case more than you may have. Let's keep this to the facts and not use that tactic to void the 'consumers' concerns.

This is a gasket fault you'll need your iphone replaceing ether with apple or your place of purchase!
What will happen over time is dust will get down there and get behind your display and you can't clean it without voiding your warenty.
Basically its a manufacturing flaw I am returning my iphone for a little fault with my gasket but I have no light leak but its still anoying having a gap!

Light shining through black cover between earphone hole and screen.

Has anyone had the issue where there is a line in between the screen and earphone hole, which is part of the black plastic covering, but light shines through?
I took my wifes iPhone back today and exchanged it, it seems that it was a manufacturing defect, probably occurred during the cooling of the plastic mold for the face, which made it thinner than it should have been, hence allowing the light from the edge of the screen connector to seep through the black plastic.
Anyone have any input? Would be very interesting to hear what someone else thinks.
I know this is a somewhat silly reason to exchange an iPhone, but to be honest, the iPhone is not just a technological device, but it is also a social device that is based on it's appearance, so we felt that the appearance was flawed, which I think is a valid point, especially when you feel the flaw is due to manufacturing defect.

The exchange went flawlessly, just had to wait for a Genius to become available, took a little over an hour. This had to be because of a manufacturers defect, now we have two perfect iPhones, well except for some of the service problems, but I would give it up for anything.
Now I just have to see what I can do about moving to europe, hope they can activate it so that I can use it there, but doubtful!

24" iMac - light visible through case

Soes anyone else have their 24" in a dark room ?
At night when my room is pitch black, I can see a light shining through the case. It's NOT the sleep light, and I can see it even when the computer is turned off.
The location of the light is immidiately to the right of the apple logo.
I can see the silhouette of what looks like the same grating as on the bottom of the computer in a diagonal strip. It's too dim to get a picture, but it is visible (from up to 4-6 feet) in a dark room.
It's probably just the processor or motherboard LED or something. I was just surprised to see it. Apple markets the advantages of the ambient light sensor on the sleep light, and when turned of, a light shines through the case!
If anyone could shed some light (lol, I wasn't even trying to pun) on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone else see the same thing?

I noticed the same light on my 24" the other night while it was off.
It's in the same position as you describe. It's not a bright light, if I look directly at it I can hardly see it but if I look slightly away its more obvious. Up close you can see the silhouette as mentioned.
From what I read on a forum its just an LED on the motherboard, the fact that it is near the sensor could explain why its noticeable - the plastic there is translucent to allow the IR signals to pass through? Thats what I read anyway.

When you reduce opacity of a top layer how do you keep a bottom layer from shining through?

I have two objects intersecting each other on different layers. The object on the top layer I reduced the opacity for and the bottom layer which was previously hidden now is shining through. I do not want this to happen. I want the bottom layer to remain hidden beneath the top layer despite the lowered opacity. How would I accompish this simply? I have CS2.

Yes! This works very well, amazingly great advice. One side note you might be able to use for future reference: the object on the bottom layer assumes a slightly different hue than the object on the top layer even when I adjust the opacity to the exact same level (both objects were the same color to begin with). I discovered this was because colors show up slightly different whether the background is white or a background with no color. So I simply created one more layer and placed a white colored object and placed this layer below my bottom layer object. This then matched the colors of both the intersecting objects.
Anyways, you probably already knew this, can be confusing to explain all of this in words.

Why is my apple logo shining through my screen.

I noticed today that my apple logo is showing through my screen. Whenever I am on a white background or app, I see it. It is an outline of a backwards apple logo. There is a disk around it. It is located in the sampe place as my external logo. Please tell me why.

Pay no attension to most of the above posts, they are fooling with you. Especially Ogelthorpe.
The reason it is showing through to the screen is because there is a strong, bright, light shining on the back part of the lid.
The Apple logo is just white plastic of some type and it will transmit light both ways, from the screen light to the outside and from a bright light outside to the screen.
Ogelthorpe suggestion of asking the Genius Bar guys is like walking into a hardware store and asking for a Left Handed Hammer or a Sky Hook, or a Board Stretcher.

So I tried something else recently and it seems to have fixed the issue. My mail is now getting new mail again and refreshing after waking from sleep without having to restart mail. Give it a try and hopefully it will help you too.
First, make sure your Mailbox List is visible (Shift + Control + M). Then select all of your inboxes, mailboxes, and folders (not just the root folder for nested folders, make sure to select them all). Then under the "Mailbox" menu, select "Rebuild."
It may take a while to rebuild them all if you have a lot, but like I said it seems to have done the trick for me. I hope that proves to be more of a long-term solution.

I imagine a ton of people are attempting to activate after the update, and the server is getting overloaded. Simple patience, maybe keep trying, and if possible, try a little later. Think of it as all those people lining up at Apple Stores + about a million more.

Try adding [email protected] as a VIP contact in your icloud mail app using the appleid used for icloud if using multiple accounts (i.e different itunes and icloud account).
But seriously that happens really !? not getting emails for using icloud services with a valid appleid.

Open Mac Mail.
From the menu bar click Mail > Preferencees then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab then click + to add the account.
