LightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive

ok I try to burn a DVD and CD and none of them would burn. The process would stop and says their is an error. I try playing a DVD and it won't read it either. When I insert a disk and try to manually work it and go to my computer and device with removable store and click on DVD RW drive it won't open the disk because it won't recognize it. When I try to take out the cd or DVD from the computer it takes a while. When I press the icon without a cd it would open my drive so I can insert the cd or DVD, I insert the disk and try to play, but it won't reconize it. Is there a problem wiht my drive or with Vista. When I try to stop all the items from my desktop dissapear and also my toolbar only the background is left.

I use window 7 64 bit

  • Can the LightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive burn dual-layer dvds?

It's a LightScribe 16X max. DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti drive, I think it's part number is 575781-501. It came in my HP Pavilion Elite HPE-380t. I was customizable up to blue ray but I stuck with the standard. Now I'm not sure whether I should invest in Dual Layer DVDs, because I don't know if my drive is capable of writing to them. Does anyone know?

According to these two sources, yes the drive is capable of writing to dual layer DVDs.

  • Lightscribe dvd supermulti drive cd writer replacement

I have an HP Pavilion a6512p PC. The OE lightscribe dvd supermulti drive cd writer has quit working. I am looking for a replacement. Any recommendations?

    Hi,
The industry has pretty much bailed out on Lightscribe technology.  There are a few listed on Amazon.  You might want to consider an external optical drive.
Here is a lightscibe optical drive.  If needs be, you can buy all 106 that are available.

  • Replacement 16x internal DVD drive

Since all of the stores now only carry 16x speed media, my 4x speed drive that came in my G5 PPC won't work any more with this media (for some reason it did fine with the 8x speed stuff). I've heard it needs a firmware upgrade but I've searched the planet hi & lo and the only ones online are for PCs and nobody else understands what I'm talking about or wants to deal with it. So I'm over the firmware thing and just want to replace it with a new 16x speed/ dual layer internal. I've heard they are available online for about $30.
Can anyone recomend one that will plug right into the cable in my G5 PPC and for sure be compatible with DVD Studio Pro ?

If you are reticent to do the surgery or if you'd like to have 2 drives then LaCie makes good firewire external DL 16X lightscribe drives for a fair price - the D2 version comes with a full (non demo, non "light") version of Toast Titanium as well. The Porsche version doesn't but it is a lot less. I use the D2 on mine as desktop is more convenient than reaching down to the floor. Though I did put in a Pioneer 112 as well.

  • Need Vista driver for CD/DVD SuperMulti Drive PA3761

    Hi there,
    hoping you can help me.
I've just purchased an external CD/DVD drive - PA3761 - the SuperMulti Drive.
When first connected to my PC - running VISTA - the computer searched for drivers to install and then came back with the message - no drivers found please install.
Looking at the Toshiba website I can't seem to find any reference to this product or drivers for it.
    Can anyone please help?
    thanks,
    Justin

    hi JWestcott,
seems to be that there is no driver for vista available....
go to the device manager and find out which device code (dev_yyy&pid_yyy) is shown maybe you can search for...
there might be a generic driver for the usb chipset....
try the downloadpage for other countries as well....

  • DVD-SuperMulti Drive on Satellite Pro notebook

I'm looking to purchase a 15.6'' Toshiba Satellite Pro PSCMMA001001 Notebook.
Is the Optical Disc Drive: DVD-SuperMulti Drive provided suitable for recording back-ups of large (genealogical) databases? Ie is it fully recordable for data, photographs, etc.?
    Thank you.

    Hi
Using posted part number I found specification for this Satellite Pro C50. It has DVD-SuperMulti Drive.
Of course you can use it to save all your important data to empty medias like CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW.
I dont know which burning application is originally installed. Check it out and test functionality.
Of course you can remove it from the system and install your favourite burning application.

  • Qosmio G20: 1x recording speed on 16x Datasafe DVD-R

OK, I normally buy Verbatim and have never had a problem. Took the chance on a cheap tub of DATASAFE 16x speed DVD-R and can only write at 1x speed. The manufacturer ID: CMC MAG. AM3.
The drive is a Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-846S, Firmware F101 , serial number BD027ED1. The firmware date is 21-09-05 so nearly a year old. Obviously I don't expect to write at 16x speed but 8x speed would be fantastic. Hardware Qosmio G20.

Sir...,If you already know the answer, why you have sent the question to this forum?
The Mat****a UJ-846-S is not slower, but since it also writes the RAM discs,it's more critic when it has to write rubbish discs.
However, if you lose 5 minutes to read the manual, as I have already said, you will have all the information that serve you.

  • NB205 and SuperMulti drive - fails on write

I have a new NB205-312?bl and the Toshiba Supermulti drive (PA3761U-1DV2).  No problems reading CDs or DVDs, but I've had no luck writing to the drive at all.  Can't make recovery didks, nor been able to copy data using Ulead.
Recovery disk process hangs about halfway through the burn.
Ulead appears to finish a data burn but then says the burn was bad and to try again.
    Phil

I would kill all running programs and background programs, except for the one burning the discs.  Then set the speed to 1X.  Yes, 1X is slow, but more reliable.  Also try different disc media.  There is still variation in how the discs are made so that some times there are problems.

Be careful of the Verbatim 16 X DVD-R. I just made 14 Coasters before I got the correct answer from Pioneer who supplied the DVD 104 Super Drive on my Mac even though I installed an A227 firmware update.
They will not burn reliably on my g-4 mac when running Mac OS 10.4.5. I can not burn these DVDs using Toast 7.02.
I have no problem with HP 8X DVD-RW or DVD-R though.
I checked with Pioneer on this and they were helpful explaining the inability of that drive to handle that disk with the present firmware version.

  • DVD from a Hard Drive  Camera.

I wanted some feedback on YOUR best way to make a DVD from a Hard Drive Camera. I have the Sony 60 GB HandyCam. It's great. I have many programs to create a DVD and edit them. Some are Quicktime Pro with MPEG 2 converter to 4 then to Streamclip, CaptyDVD, VisualHub, ImageMixer.
When converting to StreamClip , for instance, which formate is best????
I have found that the QuickTime Pro/2 to 4 converter then into iDVD gives me the best results. Then right to iDVD.
The Visual Hub program is great but it gives me the letter box effect. I rather have the true 16x9 formate.
Any other ideas or programs out there YOU like?
    Thanks in advance, Don

now we put the cart before the horse ...
mpegs are not meant for editing, any further processing; mpegs are a delivery- and playback format...
if you like to do editing (adding titles, music, disolves etc), use a recording-device which supports a codec which is MEANT for editing.. as "dv", on miniDV ...
Streamclip support basic editing (e.g. erasing parts)...
and the loss of audio by using Quicktime for convertign mpegs is another cup of tea ...
    nack to your Original Post:
Capty is best in terms of quality, because no triple-conversion is needed, as long as you "burn" videoDVD with Toast or Sizzle ..
Streamclip (+mpeg2 plug-in) is best in terms of "options" ( you can edit AND convert)
DVD2DV is best in terms of usability .. one-click-only
VisualHub is best in terms of flexibility (swiss army knife converter)
ffmpegX + Sizzle is best in terms of cost - free (iLife comes preinstalled)
... and DVD as recording media is NEVER the best, compared to any/most miniDV camcorders... less usabilty (= not supported by iLife, needs additional processes etc), less quality AFTER adding anything/editing/processing, ...
so, back to Square One - get a miniDV for movie making ..

    Hi John,
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives, right click the drive and select Uninstall - when this has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load for a couple of minutes before checking if it's now listed correctly.

  • After upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1 my DVD RAM GT80N SATA Drive is no longer working

After upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1 my  DVD RAM GT80N SATA Drive is no longer recognizing discs. When I first put a disc in the drive runs for a bit and then stops. I've tried updating the driver but it says it has the most current driver. Under manage, it does not show any error codes and it says it is working correctly. I've looked at the regedit and it does not have any of upper and lower filters. I've tried disabling, rebooting, and reenabling. What am I missing? Another issue I've had since upgrading is that my network adapter needs reset several times a day in order to remain connected to wifi.
