Lighttable View mode, Keyword Sets for Import

1. I'd be nice if we could have some sort of "Lighttable View" mode for the Library module. It would be similar to the Survey Mode, but you can move the photos around on the screen and sort or group them to your liking. E.g., after photographing a demo you could put the shots of the masses in one corner, photos of the police in another etc., the pictures still being double-clickable of course. This way choosing your keepers would become easier I think. It would be nice if Lightroom saved the arrangement, too.
2. I'd like to see Keyword sets for the Import dialog. E.g. every weekend I need the set "soccer, men's, 2009/2010, AAA league". To have presets like this would make it even easier to work with Lightroom

Right
1)
As a professional photographer I need a lighttable as there is one in "Apple´s Aperture".
We need a possibility to arrange photos easily and quiclkly and set a aperture to some of thenm right at the shooting set, to demonstrate the
client how the different photos/locations could be arranged and how they could match together later in the magazine etc.
This is not a toy feature. Apple understood, that it is a feature we need to have to brainstorm
right at the set or at home. And this feature sometimes creates right at the set new ideas or prevent
failures.
So please Adobe, let there be a "real lighttable" in the next Lightroom version.
Humans just don´t think in grid mode.

  • Transaction code to view process orders set for deletion

    Hi PP Gurus
We are trying to search for transaction code to view the process orders which have status as DLFL i.e deletion flag  set for the orders. In cooispi, the deleted orders are not shown in the report output.
I request you to let me know if there is any other code through which we can view deleted process orders.
    Thanks & Regards
    Harleen Kaur

    Dear,
In COOISPI  put DLT in system status field and execute the report this will give you the list of all order with deletion flags

  • Multiple Keyword Sets (For Multiple Databases)

I work with several different Lightroom databases and it would be nice to be able to have separate sets of keywords that go with each database.
In my specific case, I use one database for my personal photographic endeavors and another for an image library for our church. The keywords tags used for my Nature photography images and the tags used for the event photography shots for church are very different. Hence, there are lots of keywords in both libraries that have zero images attached to them.
It would be very useful in you could allow multiple keyword sets to track with multiple databases.

  • Setting for importing Beatles Mono Box Set to iTunes

I just bought the Beatles' Mono Box Set and imported it to iTunes. Because I have tons of room left on both my iPod and Mac, I did something I never do...imported them using the AIFF encoder. (I left the setting on Automatic.) Now, when I look at the info for the files, they show up as Stereo. I don't have a of technical know-how and I'm assuming that this simply means that the songs will play in two channels. (I know that if the original masters are mono they can't actually "play in stereo".) But my question is...would there have been any advantage to my setting the encoder to Custom and the Channels to Mono instead of Stereo? Thanks.

would there have been any advantage to my setting the encoder to Custom and the Channels to Mono instead of Stereo?
With your AIFF settting set to Mono instead of Stereo, the resulting file size would be half the size. Apart from that, there would be no difference.

  • Keyword tags for imported iPhone photos disappeared from LR5.7 catalog under OS 10.10.1Yosemite.

I am using LR 5.7 on a Mac OS 10.10.1 with a Time Machine backup - the vast majority of my photos were taken on an iPhone 5 in the year 2014 and are in a folder on my computer internal hard drive.
The structure is my Folders > Macintosh HD which has a folder inside called
Pictures Users/myname with 1719 photos in it -
when I click on this folder the following folders open up:
    > folder dated 1904(?) with 2 items
    > folder dated 2012 with 1 item
    > folder dated 2013 with 1 item
    > folder dated 2014 with 1352 items...
    .... and so on until
    >Exported Original Photos 365 (which are exports of photos from iPhoto that I wanted to catalog and develop in LR)
The Maths are correct. But as for the tags:
when I open the folder Pictures Users/myname containing 1719 photos and view them as thumbnails I see all the keywording applied to my collection of photos
BUT when I open the folder Pictures - Users/myname and then folder 2014, I see a list:
    folder 2014 with 199 items
    folder 2014-01-20 with 1 item
    folder 2014-01-21 with 5 items
    etc
    All well and good.
BUT if I open these dated folders with small numbers of images in them (never more than 50 per day), view the images in a grid and click on a photo, there are no keyboard tags to be seen in the information panel. They only time I see any keyword tags that I have entered is when I open Macintosh HD > Pictures - Users/myname which contains my entire library of photos taken in 2014 and those added to the catalog from iPhoto.
Should I see tags for the photos in the individually dated folders e.g. Macintosh HD > Pictures - Users/myname > 2014 > 2014-01-20 and so on day by day ?
I have been tagging my photos with keywords after my weekly import. And have been doing this after viewing each photo from the grid view of photos displayed by clicking on  Macintosh HD >Pictures - Users/myname.
    Have I made an error?
I want to tag my collection of photos by the correct method before it grows in size.
    Many thanks
    David (Brighton, UK)

    Hi,
I moused down on the "+" sign where it says Folders and "show photos in subfolders" was shown as already being "on".
I followed your suggestion:  I tried to keyword the photo in Macintosh HD/Pictures - Users/myname/folder 2014-01-20 with 1 item however it did not permit me to type in a keyword in the keyboarding section panel on the left hand side, so I was unable to check if it stuck.
I don't know whether this is important or not, but the list of folders, subfolders etc have slightly different arrow heads:
If I drop down the Macintosh HD location there is a SOLID, grey downward pointing arrow to the left hand side of the folder Pictures - Users/myname/..
However, if you drop down folders from Macintosh HD > Pictures - Users/myname/.. to show inner folders:
Macintosh HD> Pictures - Users/myname/... > folders dated 2014-01-20 etc., then there is a horizontal triangle that is made up of grey dots rather than a solid triangle for every dated folder - is this as expected?

  • Best setting for importing stills in FCP

    Hi
I 'd like to import stills shot with a Canon MarkII camera (each still is HD 5616x3744) with the intent of burning a BluRay
What are the settings I should use in FCP when I import to edit and then in QT to get a QT file that I will use in Toast for BR burning.
    Thanks
    Ivan

    wikipedia
The 5D Mark II was the first DSLR to feature 1080p video recording.[8] The Canon PowerShot SX 1 IS followed with full HD in a bridge digital camera soon after.[9] The 16:9 aspect ratio portion of the sensor used in video mode is equivalent in sensitive area to a VistaVision 8/35 frame, even larger than the Super 35 frame of the much more expensive Red One camera. This large sensor allows videos to be recorded with very shallow depth of field for a "film look".
The 21 megapixel sensor is downsampled to HD resolution by only using every third line and 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, leading to concern about Moiré patterns in recorded video.

  • BEST SETTING FOR IMPORTS?

    Hey all
What do you think is the best import setting encoder for quality (without doing one that's so large that I can't import as many songs) ?
    Thanks for the help,
    e

"Best" is subjective; what will work best for you will depend on your use of the tracks, no much storage space you have to dedicate to your music, your playback system, and your ears. Many people find that the default import setting of 128 kbps AAC is just fine, both others (particularly those with better playback systems), want better quality.
I'd suggest you do some experimenting and determine for yourself what will be best for you. Select three or four represenative CDs and import them using various settings and then compare them to see which gives you acceptable sound quality while using the least amount of drive space. Then delete the extra copies, import the rest of your CDs, and enjoy!
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic before you post a question.

  • AVI setting for importing Canon point/shoot video

I have a Canon Powershot SX110 that i use as a quick use backup.  The video files are AVI (see below properties).  I'm not sure if I'm importing incorrectly or have wrong presets, but the file seems very jerky in the preview window, even more so than HD vidoe.
Is there a setting i'm missing?
    many thanks.
    Type: AVI Movie
    File Size: 519.2 MB
    Image Size: 640 x 480
    Pixel Depth: 0
    Frame Rate: 30.00
Source Audio Format: 11024 Hz - 8 bit - Mono
Project Audio Format: 11025 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Mono
    Total Duration: 00:04:50:12
Average Data Rate: 1.8 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0

My system is way UNDER powered.
Its a single core P4 with 3GB Ram
I also tried converting to the 44.1 kHz with 16 bit stereo but no luck.
It could just be a computer problem.
I get mixed results when playing HDV but my SD plays great.
Were in the process of moving but once were done a new Core i7 has my name on it.
Im sure allot of my problems will go away once i get more power.
I will try the same files once I get a new system just for a test.
Just as a test I unlinked the audio and deleted it and the video still would not play.
Thanks for the tip on Zoombrowser.  I didnt even think of it for doing a convert.
    Enjoy:  Glenn

  • How to change "view as icon" setting for several controls/indicators at same time?

I got a LabVIEW application from other people. Unfortunately, all of controls and indicators are displayed as icon on block diagram. How can I do the batch change for these kind of setting?
    Thanks in advanced.

Christian, that only works on new terminals.
You can find a VI which does this here. If you want the ability to do this yourself, you should do a search for "LabVIEW scripting" and read about it first.

  • Best setting for imported audio?

Apologies in advance if this is an obvious question... I'm a 98-pound FCP weakling....
A local dub house converted some old analog video for us. They delivered the files in muxed MPEG2 format, which seems strange... but even odder, the audio track appeared invisible to Quicktime Player and FCP. I was finally able to hear the audio with MPEG Streamclip, and exported the file to DV-NTSC. Now FCP can import the file, but the audio must be rendered before it will play.
MPEG Streamclip reports the following properties for the original file:
    Video Tracks:
    224 MPEG-2, 720 × 480, 4:3, 29.97 fps, 7.00 Mbps, lower field first
    Audio Tracks:
    160 PCM stereo, 48 kHz, 1.54 Mbps
    So my questions are:
    1. What format should I convert the audio to, that will make FCP happy (and not require audio rendering)?
    2. What would be the ideal video/audio format for future analog-to-digital transfers?
    Thanks for any advice...

Okay, I'm trying to export from MPEG Streamclip, but can't find a way to export AIFF. Using the "Export to DV" dialogue, there's no option about audio other than a 48k checkbox. The "Export to Quicktime" dialog offers more controls, but only offers the following audio options:
    IMA 4:1
    MPEG-4 AAC
    AMR Narrow
    MPEG Layer 2
    Pass-Thru
    No Sound
Are any of these FCP-friendly? (i.e., no rendering)?

  • Best (quality) Setting for Importing Footage

    Hi,
    could anyone confirm which setting would be best to choose when importing footage from a DV camcorder? (i.e. to retain maximum quality);
    DV or 1080i etc. etc.

    Hi
I'm in the UK so PAL is the format used (although the footage was taken in America).
Not really the issue. Was Your material recorded on an American Camera (NTSC) or
a Camera bought in EU (PAL)
One can convert from one to the other by setting PAL/NTSC in iDVD at least - BUT THE QUALITY
    will be Very BAD !
(I don't think iMovie will import from other format - at least my SONY TRV-900e (PAL) can
playback NTSC - BUT not via FireWire to be imported into iMovie)
(There is a need of a NTSC Camera to be able to get it into iMovie)
    • Import in the format material was recorded
    • Use JES_Deinterlacer to convcert (free program on the net)
    • Start a new project in the new format and import the conveted material
As good as it can be - Pro applications exists to an astronomical cost and near
    not visibly quality enhancement.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Keyword Sets Limited to just 9 Keywords

Is there a way to assign more than 9 keywords to a Keyword Set?
I'm a wildlife photographer and would like to use Keyword Sets for groupings of animals - eg Antelope Set, Reptile Set, Raptor Set - but all these sets would have more than 9 keywords. Breaking the sets into sub-sets would result in far too many Keyword Sets to be manageable and would also make naming the Keyword Sets a challenge.
I've created hierarchies of keywords as a work-around, but its more cumbersome than using a Keyword Set.
If Keyword Sets are limited to 9 keywords, then the functionality is fairly useless to me, so I'd like to understand why it was limited so tightly if anyone knows.

Unfortunately Melissa, what that means is that when the keyword upgrade comes out, we'll all have to shelll out for another upgrade, when it should have been included this time around.
Having only 9 keywords makes the tool VERY frustrating for me as a sports photographer to use.  For example, in Baseball, I have a set for BASEBALL, baseball offense, baseball defense, bench, and crowd.  The only set that I can batch apply on import is the generic BASEBALL, the others need applied to individual or groups of pictures.  (ie:  action and player information is specific to this photo)  The "Recent" set is completely useless, as it is still pulling up basketball keywords as "recent" that have not been used in months while ignoring keywords typed minutes or even seconds before.  A useful keyword set would hover at or above 20 keywords to choose from ... or at least take advantage of the rest of the column space.  (Now that would be a cool idea -- dynamically sized keyword list dependent on available height on this monitor!)
In the meantime, does anyone know of a plugin that makes keywording easier?  I really don't want to shell out for PhotoMechanic just to get keywording right!
    John
