Ligthroom duplicate serveur folder

Hello,
We use ligthroom for our company, the catalog is on our local computer and the photos on our serveur. But since some week, we've changed our serveur and the name of it to "media" for "Media". In Lightroom we can see our photo in the new serveur "Media" but as we want to import new photos, Ligthroom create a new folder with the same name "Media" and placed the new photos in this folder but not in the other.
I've found on Internet that if I "update the location of the folder" the two "Media" should merge but I've an error
Does anybody know how to fix this problem?
Thanks for your help.

For those reading this thread and don't know French, a Google Translate of the first error-message listed above, is:
"The selected folder or one of its subfolders are already in Lightroom. Do you want to combine these files?"
It isn't clear which folder you're trying to do the Update-Location on when you get the error message.  The "old" one has the wrong case for the server so that is probably the one you need to update.  To do this maybe it would work to merely rename the top-level folder of Base images to something else an then rename it back.  I am initially thinking you'd rename the folder and back in LR, but it might also work to rename it outside of LR and then do a Location Missing Folder or Update Folder Location or whatever the right-click menu says when a folder isn't found.
But perhaps you will continue to get the second error message so before attempting to do something with the "old" folder structure, since there are only four photos, remove (don't delete just remove from the catalog) the Serge Roy folder, in case it is in both the "new" and "old" folder structures and that is leading to the error.  If you have work on those four photos you don't want to lose, then perhaps temporarily move them to another drive, entirely, using drag-and-drop in LR, while you're messing with the name of the top-level folder under the "old" Media drive.
The general idea is to get LR to update all the 36000 folder entries under the "old" server entry, so that LR has the current server name with mixed case with all those photos, which is apparently what the 4 "new" photos under Serge Roy have and then put the Serge Roy photos back.
None of what I'm suggesting may work.  I don't have experience with Macs nor with hosting photos on a network so there may be other errors that occur or LR may balk at doing some of what I'm suggesting.

  • My itunes has created a duplicate podcast folder. How can I delete this? I can't sync my podcasts to my ipod because there are now two Podcast folders.

How do I delete the duplicate podcast folder? Because there are two podcast folders it is stopping my ipod nano from syncing when i plug it in.  I have searched the libraries on the hard drive but this extra podcast folder can't be found.

I have figured out a workaround that may work for you.  It doesn't address the cause of the problem but it has gotten me past the problem.  Note: Mac OSX
    1.  Make note of all of the podcasts that you currently have in each of your folders.  You will need this to get back to your current position if you choose.
2a.  Right click on the first of the two folders named Podcast.  (Command Click, two-finger tap, as appropriate.)  Delete should appear as an option.  Select it.  All of the contents and subscriptions in that folder will be lost.
On my system, Delete appeared as an option only on the first of the two folders named Podcast.
2b.  I deleted the contents of the second folder but, in retrospect, I don't think that was necessary.
    3.  You should now be left with just one Podcast folder.
    4.  Go to the iTunes store and resubscribe or download the podcasts you wish to restore.  All of the podcasts should appear in the one remaining podcast folder.  When I hit refresh to check, it did not crash this time.
    5.  Sync to your ipod.  I got a warning message about the mismatch, said ok and let the sync proceed.  It appears to have worked, as it did on my ipad.
Messy but it worked.  Hope it helps both you, evechoc and ifan94.
    Good luck!

  • App-V duplicates system32 folder

I have sequenced Office 2010 Pro Plus today using the App-V Office 2010 Kit on a Windows XP (dutch) computer with Sequencer 4.6. All seems to work fine when I start one of the Office 2010 virtual applications on a test computer.
When I reboot the computer, it cannot start. When i check the C:\Windows folder using a bootcd,  I notice that a duplicate system32 folder exists. One System32 and one system32 folder!!! When I delete the system32 folder and restart the computer, everything
works fine again, but as soon as I start an Office 2010 virtual app, the system32 folder is duplicated.
This also happens when I start a virtual application called ACDSee. Other virtual applications do not cause this problem.
    What goes wrong?

A scenario like this can happen when we have a convergence of many elements but the root centers around the fact that the NTFS file system preserves case. While the Win32 API does recognize the case preservation, it does not consider the case-sensitivity
which is why you cannot create two files or directories that differentiate only by case.
However, other subsystems/APIs may - esepcially the POSIX subsystem which many open source solutions leverage. Are you by chance running any software such as Hummingbird/OpenDoc? Where this happens is that when this software is installed locally, there becomes
a creation of this directory upon the launching of just about any virtual application (it all depends on whether the application uses VFS mappings to system32 in this case.)
Check and make sure this key is in place:
    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\kernel
    Value Name: obcaseinsensitive
    Value: 1 by default
Usually this may be set to 0 when these applications are installed. Reverting it back to its default could fix your issue.

  • Promotion Job fails, citing duplicate 'Root Folder'

We've recently upgraded a BI Platform installation to 4.1 SP4. This was done via a full installation to SP3, then an in-place upgrade to SP4.
Several freshly collected CTS+ imports (of folders and reports only) have been failing with the following error citing duplicate Root Folder entries. Any insights into a cause/correction would be appreciated:
    Exception: com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.infostore.internal.InfoStoreException:
Could not commit object 'Root Folder' because another object with the same name and type already exists under object '<my system id>:6400'. (FWB 00026)

(FWB 00026) The server supplied the following details: Trying to create an object with duplicate name. Id = 43336
The Root Folder on each system appears to be in place with the same si_id and CUID in both the source and target system. There are no user created folders with a conflicting name. Another oddity is that neither system has any object with si_id = 43336, let alone the Root Folders (which are all the standard si_id of 23).
    Thanks!

    Hi Benjamin,
This issue seems to be exactly similar to the one mentioned in KBA article-1802470.
    Try the below steps:-
Go to promotion management- manage systems and add all the systems in the list.
All the systems means you need to add destination systems in the above list.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to delete duplicate applications folder I accidentally created.

I accidentally created an alias of my applications folder when I mistakenly dragged the applications alias in a downloaded software folder to my applications folder instead of the software I was supposed to drag to the applications alias. Anyway, I now have an apps folder within the apps folder, which I can't drag to the trash without trashing all the apps. Can someone tell me how to fix this please? Thank you!

  • Duplicate User Folder, Application Folder, Library, etc, etc for same user

I just ran Omnidisksweeper and my Volumes folder is the largest with my active drive in it with my Users folders (9.6 gb), Desktop, Library, Applications, System. usr, etc. Below it in the hierarchy is Users (14.gb) with Desktop, Library, Applications, System. usr, etc.  My computer is really hanging and I don't have my Snow Leopard start disk to rebuild. Even when I get it I don't know which User Folder to keep. I can find the 14.0 user folder  which is my home folder but I can't locate the 9.6 gig User folder. Any ideas.

Well if rebecca doesn't show up in the accounts it must have come from some old update or somewhere.  In that case then, yes, you could just trash it.  But I suggest you do it this way in terminal (cut/paste):
    sudo rm -rf /Users/rebecca
The sudo will cause a prompt for your admin password.  The rm will delete the folder and there is not turning back one you do this.  This is faster than throwing stuff in the trash and avoids permissions problems too.
Just in case though I would suggest you backup your drive before attempting this.

  • How do I duplicate the folder name copied to say the Desktop

I must have missed something in the way Automator actions work.
I want to copy a folder to the desktop with the same name as it has in the Pictures Directory.
I can make it copy to a named folder. And replace contents, and then I click on an rename by hand.
But is there a way for Automator to remember the name of the folder it has copied from and then rename the new one on the desktop.
    Any help appreciated.

The *Copy Finder Items* action will return the paths of the copied items in its results, so you can just pass that to the *Rename Finder Items* action.
Note that this is the Tiger Automator forum - Automator in Leopard is a bit different, so in the future you should post in the Leopard Automator forum.

  • I appear to have a duplicate library folder which is taking up a lot of space (one outside my user profile and one inside). How do I know which one to delete?

I seem to have duplicated my 'Library' folder - one inside and one outside my USER folder. (additionally there is a Library folder in the systems folder - but that should be there!).  I do not know which one to delete (both 8-10 GB) Help!!

There should be at least THREE Library folders:
1- Inside your "home" folder, the one with your user name.
2- At the "root" level of your boot volume.
3- Inside the System folder at the "root" level of your boot volume.
If it's one of those three, ignore them - especially if you don't know exactly what you're doing.
If it's some other Library folder just floating around somewhere, you can safely delete it. Note that every user account will have its own Library folder inside its "home" folder, and these you should also leave alone.

  • Iphone 5 duplicate photo folder

  • Duplicate library folder in camera

I made an iTunes album labelled "iPhone", filled it with the photos I wanted to upload to the phone, selected it in iTunes, synched and all was right.
Later, I changed a couple of photos and resynched. Now I have both my updated "iPhone" album and the original set of photos showing in a separate album that calls itself "Photo Library". This album doesn't appear in iTunes and so isn't selected.
I have deselected the "iPhoto" album in iTunes and sure enough, both albums disappear when I synch. When the "iPhone album is selected again and synched again, the second "Photo Library" again appears on the phone.
Hope this makes sense and thank you.

I think you meant that you made an iPhoto album.
The storage of photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone is similar to how photos are stored with iPhoto.
A photo cannot be placed and available in an iPhoto album unless the photo is available in the main iPhoto library. When placing a photo from your iPhoto library in an iPhoto album, the photo is not duplicated. The album includes a pointer to the original photo which is stored and located in your iPhoto library.
You can place the same photo in multiple iPhoto albums.
You can view photos available in an album only by selecting the album, or you can view all photos available in all albums by selecting your iPhoto library.
The same with the iPhone. You can create multiple iPhoto albums to store pictures in each album from a particular event, and transfer multiple albums to your iPhone. All photos available in each album are stored in the main iPhone Photo Library. You can view photos available in an album only on your iPhone, or all photos available in all albums transferred to your iPhone by selecting Photo Library.
The filing structure is the same with iTunes - between your main iTunes music library and any music Playlists that you create.

  • USERS folder duplicate

i have a mac book pro solid state retina running mavericks
when processing photographs with phase one capture one pro 8
i'm getting a duplicate USERS FOLDER in my folder hierarchy tree
and 7 levels of other sub folders within that leading down to my processed photos
anybody know why this could be happening and how to stop it ?

Open Accounts preferences, click on the lock icon and authenticate. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on your account in the list and select Advanced Options from the contextual menu. In the dialog there's a field labeled "Home directory." Click on the Choose button to the right, locate your Home folder's new location and click on the Open button. Restart the computer. The computer should now use the relocated Home folder.
Do not delete the entire Home folder from the SSD. Instead delete all the content except the /Home/Library/ folder.

  • Multiple Libraries & duplicates

I am sure that my problem is common so hopefully this post will help other people solve similar problems. It may have been answered in other posts although nothing has popped out as a clear and concise way to solve how to deal with multiple libraries and duplicate pictures.
I have over the years created, edited and merged various iPhoto libraries. I now have such a mess of pictures and libraries I don't know what to do to organize them all. The smallest library is about 10GB, the largest about 45GB. I purchased iPhoto Library Manager and Duplicate Annihilator. I have attempted to merge some of the libraries but that didn't work that well. It created yet another library and more duplicates. I then (foolishly) attempted to drag and drop a library file and that created extra pics like thumbnails of the all the faces.
So is there an easier way that sifting thru about 30,000 images?
Do I deal with the duplicates in each separate library first, then merge and do it again. Or attempt a total merge, then scan for duplicates?
Another approach I thought about is to work directly with the originals in the library contents.
I am lucky that I haven't spent too much time with albums, books etc. There is some metadata (comments, maps and faces), but nothing to serious.

Try using a free tool, ExifRenamer (http://www.qdev.de/?location=mac/exifrenamer)
Do not use this tool on files inside of iPhoto Library. You can use the tool only with originals, in simple file format. So you probably need to export the files from iPhoto first before using the tool.
It renames photo/video file names to date/time they were taken. You'd drop a folder containing the files onto ExifRenamer icon, and the files will be renamed. Pretty simple. You can specify the format of file name and other settings to your preference first. Once the files are renamed, you'd drop them into folders based on year/quarter/month.
Basically you'd reorganize the files in this folder structure
    2009_01
    2009_02
    2010_03
    Or you could work with
    2009-q1 (for Jan - March)
    2009-q2 (for Apr - June)
As you are dropping the renamed files into their directories, you may be asked to overwrite files, which you should do.
Once you've renamed the files, you can reimport them into iPhoto Library. I recommend one iPhoto Library for 1 year. Maybe you could keep more years in 1 iPhoto Library. My personal preference is 1 iPhoto Library for 1 year.
Lastly, please make a good backup and test before proceeding. I recommend this.
-Let Time Machine run with iPhoto closed.
-Export all photos from iPhoto into a separate folder. This is for backup and not to be touched.
-Export all photos from iPhoto or duplicate the folder you created in previous step. Work with this folder when using ExifRenamer. Start working with small sets of files initially until you are comfortable.

  • How to remove duplicate POP messages in Mail under Mavericks

    Hello
I'm having some significant problems with Apple Mail, and despite having researched widely, I haven't been able to find a solution yet. Here is my tale of woe...
My set up is that I use Mail with 5 separate accounts, downloading all messages using POP. I keep ALL my mail (even the trash) so that I have a permanent record of all conversations, going back more than 10 years - this is about 250,000 emails in around 250 subfolders. I'm running the latest version of Mavericks on a 2010 MBP. I have no intention of moving to IMAP - I need to keep a local archive of all my mail.
A few months ago I was having problems with Mail being very slow to load and search emails. I decided to rebuild the mailboxes, but afterwards discovered that thousands of messages in the inbox of one of my accounts (and some of the sub-folders) had disappeared. Once I realised I tried to go back to a recent Time Machine back up, but, for whatever reason, that part of the back up hadn't worked properly and I was unable to recover the previous status. I left it while I decided what to do, and had time to deal with it...
The last 2 years worth of emails on that account were still archived on gmail, so last week I decided to try redownloading the whole lot (something like 72,000 messages), and then planned to use one of the scripts I was aware of to remove the duplicates to the trash, and then remove any duplicates in the trash forever. That ought to mean I at least had an archive of the last two years of missing messages, even if I had no record of which ones had been flagged or replied to, etc.
The downloading took about 24 hours to complete, and I now have almost 70,000 messages in the inbox of that account. I also rebuilt all the folders again, which doesn't seem to have resulted in any further loss of messages as far as I can tell. However, I hadn't figured on two things:
    1. Mail 'hides' duplicate messages, meaning that all of the messages I've downloaded are showing as unread, and I can't differentiate the ones I already had in my Inbox, and the new downloads. When I click on those apparently unread messages I can see if they have been replied to or forwarded, etc, but there's no obvious way for me to remove the ones I have already dealt with to the trash, without going through them all manually, which is clearly impossible.
    2. The scripts I'd found for removing duplicates don't work. Andreas Amann's Remove Duplicates script doesn't work under Mavericks, and he has abandoned the project. I've also tried the remove-duplicate-messages.scpt made by Jolly Roger (http://jollyroger.kicks-***.org/software/), and while it *sometimes* works on individual subfolders on my Mac (but as far as I can tell removes the duplicate in that folder, rather than the newly downloaded version), mostly it doesn't work at all - it creates a 'Remove Duplicate Messages' folder on my desktop, a log inside it and a folder for removed messages, but nothing appears in the duplicates folder.
So, I'm left in a position where I have 70,000 apparently unread messages in my Inbox, a massively bloated Mail library (which has pretty much doubled in size, because of the 'hidden' messages), a slow and unresponsive Mail program. I've come to the conclusion that there must be some corrupted email somewhere, which probably caused the original email haemorrhage, and may still be causing the inability to remove duplicates. Mail is so slow as to be almost unuseable.
I figure I have a number of options:
    1. I could live with the situation and just archive most of the Mail in my inbox, with the side effect that there will be a bunch of messages I have never replied to that are missed.
    2. I could abandon the last week's efforts and revert to the version of Mail I was using a week ago, and then redownload the recent emails from my various accounts. That would still leave me without those thousands of emails I lost on my local machine.
    3. I could find another way to deal with this. Can I get the remove duplicates script working? Should I revert to the version of Mail from a week ago, download ALL the messages again, but do it in a way that allows me to find the duplicates and remove them? Should I move to another email program altogether (which would presumably be massively disruptive to my work!)
Anyway, apologies for the essay length of this request, and thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer!

    hi Eric
thanks for the tip, but I don't think that solves my problem, which is that Mail apparently hides the duplicates, so they're still there, you just can't differentiate or remove them. I actually *need* the duplicates there so I know I've got everything, but then I need to be able to move the ones I know I've dealt with from my inbox to an archive/trash, and/or remove them completely so Mail isn't totally bloated
