  • LimeWire/FrostWire?

For some reason LimeWire and FrostWire aren't working with iTunes. Whenever I click on the respective folders it always says "The shared library "Frostwire/Limewire Tunes" is not compatible with this version of iTunes." and even if I change the shared folders or move the file to another location, it still won't work.

Sorry, those programs are not made by Apple and are essentially illegal sources of pirated material and are not safe for your computer. I would advise that you not use them.

  • Limewire problems

Hi, i am having problems with limewire and as a result i tried frostwire. both refuse to load the user interface correctly, and I suspect it may be a java issue. i have posted a seperate question on the Java issue, but wondered if anyone has any guidance for limewire or frostwire for me. i have posted in the gnutella forums but never get a reply.
I have th latest version and it ran fine for a long time.
    Please help if you can.
    thanks experts,
    Bart

Hi wayne, Ok before i go any further let me say that i have re-installed my "humour" module and all is now well at this end (sorry).
    here goes.
    I have tried the following
trashing all reference to the limewire/frostwire software, preferences included.
    Re-installed Limewire.
confirmed my java installation (now running 1.5.0_06)
tested my java installation (all tests out OK)
The only thing I can think of that may have impacetd things in the first place is that I installed a program called "application enhancer". I have tried to delete all reference to this software, but i can't as it tells me it is in use when I try to empty the trash. I tried to force quit this application but it doesn't appear in the list in force quit. may not be related of course.
I have also been having problems with some chat rooms, in that the room either doesn't open or is corrupted in some way. All these sites are java based. Strangely i tried to open one with IE instead of opera, safari, or firefox, and it worked ????
I have thought for a while that this may be java based, but had no luck in posting a thread about that except that someone gave me a link to a test facility that tested out fine. i assumed that eliminated java as a problem area??
    does this help at all?
    thanks again,

  • LimeWire crash on launch

The LimeWire Forums (http://www.gnutellaforums.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=7) contain a lot of discussions on crash-on-launch issues with LimeWire, suggesting Java-related problems. I have tried just about every suggestion I could find in the Forums. Yet, under OS 10.4.8, LimeWire crashes on launch.
From curiosity, I switched to a new user and LimeWire still crashed. So, I rebooted from an OS 10.4.2 volume. Then, LimeWire launched fine. Therefore, I think that a combination of system and security updates from 10.4.2 to 10.4.8 is somehow related to my LimeWire issue.
Azureus, another Java-based application, continues to launch fine under OS 10.4.8. So, I am not too certain if my LimeWire launch issue is Java-related.
I would appreciate any insight into the issue.
    MacBook Pro 17-inch (June 2006)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   G5 Dual 2GHz Tower (Sept. 2005)

The only way I can get my limewire to launch and run is to copy the following into a terminal and then hit return:
    cd /Applications/Limewire/Limewire.app/Contents/Resources/Java ; java -cp help.jar:tools.jar -jar Limewire.jar
Use copy and paste to make sure all the spaces are correct, and save it into a textfile for use each time.
From there it runs fine. Otherwise it just bounces in the dock and never starts up.
BUT I am on 10.3.9 and don't know if this will work in Tiger. If it does, let us know please. Hope it helps.
    Thanks!

This may be a little more suitable to arch using an underscore in the version instead of leaving the trailing proprietary release field empty and lowercase letters for the pkgname.

  • Airport blocking p2p, or broken?

leopard hates p2p, i know that, but with my router it seems to really limit my connections, i have added my programs to be allowed to work in leopard, they are added to my firewall allowed list, but also now my router limits my connection with anything like limewire, frostwire, poisen. if i am using a bit torrent program i cant use the internet anywhere else.

Your ISP could also be to blame? I use P2P apps occasionally on Leopard with no issues. There have been lots of reports, including a law suit against Comcast for reducing bandwidth to customers using P2P apps.
You might check out the 'Firewall' settings in 'System Preferences' and explicitly allow your applications access.

  • ITunes, everything lost.

Okay, a week and a half ago I took my computer in to the shop because it had over 90+ viruses. The people found a re-installing virus, and had to do a strip scan. They saved my iTunes and documents in an old folder. Well, today I finally got iTunes to upgrade to 8.1 needed for my iTouch. I plugged my iTouch in, and it found the hardware and what not. But nothing transferred. I tried transferring things because it said my iTouch is connected to a different iTunes Library, so I clicked transfer and nothing happened. I kept fidgeting with it and ended up deleting all my apps from my iTouch, FML. And in the folders, I only found some iTunes songs that I had bought a long time ago. In the previous Library I had about 258 songs, and about half were from iTunes, and half from Limewire/Frostwire. Well, it's ******* me off badly because I want my freaking apps back and songs onto my iTunes! I need someone to help me do that, or a iTunes specialist/worker to atleast view my record of things on my past Library and try and add them back to my iTunes. I'm very ****** at the moment, and would like help A.S.A.P. Please and thank you.

    I found stuff hidden. Bye.

  • Hacked internet account?

First id like to say that i wasnt sure what section to put this into & this looked most appropriate so i apologise if i have posted this question in the wrong section.
Now my problem is as follows: I have a intel imac & a G4 powermac on a little internet network at home, along with 2 PC laptops (the pc's belong to my flatmates). we have a D-Link 502T as our modem, and a A-Link 'fast ethernet 5 port switch' to send the internet signal to the computers. Our ISP is AAPT & our monthly download limit is 15gig.
I have limewire, frostwire, & Xtorrent installed on my imac & i use them occasionally. my flatemates also have installed frostwire on their laptops. they both use commercially available anti virus/spyware programs eg AVG & nortons.
so the actual problem is that about 4weeks ago our internet usage started going up dramatically & in 2 weeks over 17gig has been downloaded through our account. The largest file i have knowingly downloaded is 2.6gig.
On one particular day almost 4.5gig was downloaded & that particular day there was minimal internet usage in the house.
I was playing Halo online for a few weeks & we do like to watch Youtube videos but i dont see how this could bump up our usage so much
A AAPT rep believes someone has opened a 'port' through our modem & is downloading through our account. the modem has been reset & the password changed.
is there anyway of finding out whether we were hacked or not?
Is there a better forum to discuss this sort of thing?
    Any assistance would be appreciated
    thanks
    intel iMac 2.0ghz, PowerMac G4 466   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   1gig/160g HD, 768meg/30g & 200g HD

    Hi Ralf,
    since posting the question i have realised a few things;
    1. our download speed has tripled but our monthly alowance has only increased by 25%
    2. on a few occasions i have spent 4hrs or more on youtube
uploading does not affect our monthly quota for downloads so i dont think there is a problem with the filesharing apps, although my flatmate is deleting them.
as for 'video chatting', i am not but i think my flatmate watches thai tv on occasion (his gf lives there)
we have both downloaded net monitoring apps so we'll keep an eye on it but after posting the question i spoke to a few people & they were of the belief that it was very possible to do what we did.
    thanks for the response

  • Mac Right Hand Speeker Problem

    Hi im new here
i recently bought a new iMac os X and has been working fine until now
when i run music of a website lets say runescape the sound in the left speaker works perfect but the right one is screwed up and crackly, same when i run it threw limewire/frostwire but if i transfer the same music i have running threw limewire music player into Itues music player it works fine like a perfect speaker. i read that it was a virus for windows xp/vista? anyone got any ideas?

If its just that website or program thats causing you grief with the speaker, and downloaded music that plays through iTunes is fine, then the problem would be with the external program/website, not your speaker. If the sound is crackly through the speaker when any sound comes out of it, from any program or source then it might be a loose connection to the tweeter. You should take it to your local Apple store or give them a call to see if there is a quick fix.
This is where apple care is a dream.
    Best of luck!

  • Wont Back Up and says my itouch is disconnected?

I have a nice 2nd Generation iPod Touch (8gig; version 3.1.2; iTunes 10. I did not jailbreak it or download anything from limewire, frostwire, etc. I recently bought some new songs and wanted to put them on my iPod. So i synced it, and it was going fine until it started backing up. It failed to backup and told me that the "ipod is disconnected" even though it wasn't. I cannot get any of my new music onto my iPod and I am getting a little frustrated.
What can i do to fix this without deleting any of my apps? unless there is a way to save them.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Iphone/ipod sharing

Help!!! Trying to get some tunes set up for 2night. Want to download tunes from my phone onto a neighbours computer, any ideas??? all it wants 2 do is transfer from neigbours empty itunes account. I can't seem to transfer the other way???

You can only transferred purchased content on your iphone to your neighbors computer through iTunes. Content from other sources (CD's, Limewire, Frostwire, Bearshare, etc.) require software that will allow the transfer. Basically go to google or yahoo and search for a program.
    For Purchases:
You will first need to authorize their computer with your iTunes account. Then connect the device and go to File>transfer purchases or right click on your device name on the left side and choose transfer purchases.

  • FrostWire/Safari Issue?

So since LimeWire is no longer available for use I moved to FrostWire, but it turns out this was a bad idea. After I downloaded FrostWire I instantly had problems with Safari. Safari would open but there would be no window and I couldn't open a window. When I quit or try to open a tab I get:
"The application Safari quit enexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the ct_plugins plug-in.
Mac OS X and other applications are not affected."
and then I can either choose ignore, report, or relaunch.
I've gone looking for FrostWire files and I'm PRETTY sure I've sent them all to the trash and then emptied the trash. I still have the broken safari on my computer because I wasn't sure if that would be any help.
I bough my mac in Fall 2008. It's a 13" Aluminum MacBook. I have Safari 5.0.2 and if you need to know more I kindly ask you to be patient in asking for the information and telling me where to find it because chances are I don't know.
Any tips how to get safari going again?

Thanks a lot andyball_uk; I did exactly what you said and my problem was fixed. Jacshalo92, you need to get into your "Macintosh HD" folder (on the desktop) and then seek for the "Library" folder, and the begin to delete the stuff that andyball_uk said:
    /Library/Application Support/Conduit
    /Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
    /Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/frostbar.pkg
    /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
    /Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
however I did not find the SIMBL... whatever thing. Anyway when deleting these files I could open my Safari browser again. I hope this can help you solve the issue; but if it does not, you can download Google Chrome (for mac) on another laptop and copy the .dmg file into a USB and then installing it on your mac so that you can get into internet. If you need your Safari bookmarks you can open your wrecked browser and click on: File/Export Bookmarks.

  • Frostwire/Limewire

My macbook refuses to let me open either Limewire or Frostwire. It goes through the whole startup process, then right when it finishes loading, disapears and a window comes up sometimes that just says it Quit unexpectedly and nothing else was harmed. Help! Why is it doing this and more importantly how can I fix it?

I've used both Limewire and FrostWire on my Mac and I found both to be pretty buggy. My guess would be a problem with Java, but I'm not really sure.
I personally would just delete both Apps and use Cabos. It is an open source P2P program that uses the same network as LimeWire and FrostWire, but designed specifically for OS X (a windows version is now available, too)
    http://cabos.sourceforge.jp/
Just make sure you don't download any files illegally...

  • Limewire Issue

Recently my Limewire app spontaneously stopped launching. I tried repairing system permissions and changing around the ownership (in the get info box), as well as updating to the latest version of the software - none of them solve the problem. Any thoughts on getting the software to run?

If you've updated to Quick Time 7.04 recently then delete it and try to go back to a previous verison. Apparently there's a bug in QT which prevents Limewire from launching. If you haven't updated QT then below are some other troubleshooting suggestions that may help you.

  • IPod and Limewire issues

I just bought my $300 iPod, and right now for me, is worth crap. I have Limewire Pro and it is under the shared files in the iTunes page. I can never drag it, or do anything with it. I am thinking of returning it to the store for my money back, but if someone can please help me, that would be great!
    HP Windows XP

You have Limewire pro and you can not drag it or do anything with it? (that is exactly what you said). Perhaps you could start again and example what you are trying to do.
If you are trying to add a shared library to your iPod you can't. So instead, go to File -> Add to library then navigate to your Limewire folder where you music is and pick that. All those songs, assuming they are in compatible music formats, will be added to your iTunes library. That should then transfer to your iPod ok.
