Limewire shared account in my iTunes?

I just downloaded a song from iTunes store and after download a shared limewire account appeared in my iTunes menu. I right click and it has a sub menu to disconnect. I do this but the account still remains in my iTunes menu. What is this? Or better, how do I get rid of it. Any help please.

I'm showing the same problem, shared Limewire accounts that shouldn't be there. Since upgrading to OSX 10.5.7, I've had a series of just plain weird occurrences. The only one that doesn't appear to have been solved is the sudden appearance of "shared" Limewire accounts.
Now, I don't use and never have installed Limewire on this computer, but my sweety's daughter downloaded and installed Limewire. The network was disabled during the weirdness and our iMac is now on a direct ISP connection, but the Limewire "shared accounts" persist even though I've disabled sharing on our iMac.
Problem is, I don't trust sharing between accounts on this iMac while the "shared accounts" are still displayed, especially since one account will allow ME to share its music.
So, how do I get rid of this leeching Limewire?

  • Home sharing, one computer, 2 itunes accounts

I have an Iphone 4 and my husband is going to be getting an Iphone 4, and we want to be able to share our apps, music, etc. We have one main computer, but 2 itunes accounts. Will home sharing work? How could I view his account in my itunes account if they're both on the same computer?

    Hi, suemach.
I'm not sure if I understand your situation precisely but it sounds like you're both using the same Windows XP User Account.
If that's correct, have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base and let us know if it brings you any combination of joy and/or satisfaction.

How can I verify credit for an itunes card that has already been redeemed?  My Grandson and I both redeemed itune cards on our shared account about the same time. There isn't a credit balance after his purchase?

Have you checked the account's purchase history to see if anything could have used up the balance : See your purchase history in the iTunes Store - Apple Support ?
If there aren't any purchases then try logging out and back into the account (e.g. on your iPad tap on your id in Settings > Stores and then log back in) and see if a balance then shows on it. My account's balance shows at the top right of the store's page on my computer's iTunes, by clicking on my name towards the top right of the iTunes screen, and by logging in to view my account via the Store > View Account menu option. On my iPad devices it shows at the bottom of, for example, the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id (or you can view your account via Settings > Stores and it should show on the screen that you are taken to)

  • Had an itunes account I shared with family.  opened a separate account when I got a new phone but can't transfer my music library.  How do I delete new account and go back to original shared account?

I had an itunes account I shared with my family.  I opened a separate account when I got a new phone but cant't transfer my library of music.  I want to cancel new account and go back to original shared account.  How do I do this?

Content is permanently tied to the account it is acquired with.
    Apple ID's cannot be deleted.
Simply sign out of the undesired account and stop using it.  Sign in with the desired account.

I have been sharing my daughters iTunes shared account which is on all my devices. I would like to set up my own account how do I go about it?

You can keep her music on a computer in addition to anything you add under your new ID. You can only have content on your mobile devices that you have either purchased from your ID or synced from your computer.

  • HT1495 Can I have two apple id accounts on one iTunes account?

My son has just been given an iPhone. At present he is using my iTunes account so I have all his purchases of songs and apps on my itunes account. Can I set up another apple id account on my iTunes so or is there a way for him to copy all his purchases and load them onto his own iTunes?

Yes, you can. Apple IDs are really not meant to be shared.

  • Can I move/copy songs from one itunes account to another itunes account on the same iMac?

Can I move/copy songs from one itunes account to another itunes account on the same iMac?

You move the song files to /Users/Shared/ and then into iTunes from the other Mac OS X user account.
If you want to change the iTunes Store account associated with them, you need to redownload them from that account.

  • How do I remove an old - unworking computer from my home sharing  account

I recently had a PC expire.   It was on my list of computers that made up my home sharing account.
I need to remove that old computer from that account so that I can add the new computer.
The old computer does not work anymore so I cannot access the account from that computer to turn off home shaing on that computer.
How do I access a list of computers to turn some on or off?

If you're talking about the "authorization" limit (5 computers), then there's no way to remove a single computer without loggin onto it.  You have to go to Store->View AppleID, then click "Deauthorize All" under the account summary.  You'll then have to reuthorize the computers you still want to use.  Note, this can only be done once a year.
If you're talking about the "Association" limit (10 computers+devices), then you can remove it by clicking "Manage Devices" in the "iTunes in the Cloud" panel of the same page.

  • How do I avoid synching my family's apps, from a shared account?

My family has a shared account on my windows desktop computer.  I was told that I can elect not to automatically synch all the Apps on the desktop  with my iPhone when I connect it to the desktop, but I cannot see how.

Go onto iTunes, click on your device and find the apps tab, then you should see a box that says automaticly sync new apps. Un-tic that box and you should be right.
If that doesn't work go to if device click apps & app stores and find automatic downloads and switch it off :)
    Hope that helped

  • Can I have multiple payment methods on my Family Sharing account?

My family and I all just joined the Apple community, and we set up a family sharing account. However, everyone in our family sharing account would like to use our own methods of payment, (like myself, my dad, etc). Can we do this?

    Hello steevo_711,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains helpful advice concerning Family Sharing payments. There can be only one payment method which is associated with the family organizer:
    Setting up Family Sharing
When you set up Family Sharing, you'll be asked to confirm that you agree to pay for purchases initiated by the family members you invite and that you have a valid payment method on file. Valid payment methods for setting up Family Sharing include credit cards and debit cards. You can change the billing method on file in your account at any time in your iTunes & App Store account settings.
    Making purchases
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer. As the family organizer, any receipts generated by the transaction will be sent to you. Learn more about how iTunes Store purchases are billed.
Once paid for, a purchased item is added to the account of the family member who initiated the purchase. In other words, the content belongs to them, much as it would if you were buying them a book or a DVD. If Family Sharing is ever disabled, each member will keep the purchases they initiated, even though they were paid for by the family organizer.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • HT202213 I need to delete computers that are no longer active from my home sharing account, how do I do this?

I need to delete computers that are no longer active from my itunes Home sharing account so that I can sign up the new computers.  I am using a Mac laptop. The computers that were previously linked to the Homesharing are no longer available, they have been wiped and are not in the house anymore.   Does anyone know how to do this?

The apps aren't stored in your personal iCloud account and don't use any of your storage.  They are only stored in the App store.  The iCloud symbols are only links to your previous purchases in the App store so you can download them again.  If you don't want to see certain apps, you can hide them in iTunes on your computer as explained here: iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.  Once hidden in iTunes, you should no longer see them on your phone.

  • Shared Accounts Showing Up On My Computer...

Shared accounts are showing up and going away randomly while I'm on iTunes (I have not set up any shared accounts on my computer). I can listen to some of the songs,; however, some tell me I need a password to listen. It will not let me move the songs onto my playlists or copy them into a folder on my computer. Anyone know why this is happening?

Apparently you are connected to a network with other iTunes users. This can happen in computer labs, schools, offices, or if you're using a wireless Internet connection that isn't your own. In iTunes, go into Preferences (from the Edit menu on a PC or iTunes menu on a Mac) and click on the Sharing tab. You can uncheck the option to have iTunes search for shared libraries, as well as disable the option to broadcast your own library to those other users. (If you can see them, they can likely see you, if they are looking for shared libraries).

my ipod nano disappears from itunes, yet is still connected, so I'm unable to import music. Anything I do import goes to the shared account. I can't update my nano and it's all very disappointing. what can I do?

Go through the Apple troubleshooting steps and see if that solves the problem. Find those here:

Also, try charging it over night. Keep in mind that your computer has to be on for the iPod to charge while connected to the USB connection.

  • TS1368 The only appears when signing with the home sharing account

We could not complete your iTunes Store request.
The iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
This message systematically appears on Windows 8 with latest version of iTunes when signing-in with the home sharing account, preventing any purchase. It is not a network issue since the message does not appear when signing in with my personal account which works in all circumstances.

Are you saying that your remote doesn't operate your Apple TV.
Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen.
