Limit connection time to SSID per user

Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to configure an SSID with the constraint that, each user that connects to the SSID needs to "register" and only gets acces for a specific amount of time. So basically I would like to create an SSID specificly for customers that are on our premises whom I would like grant connectivity for a limited amount of time. I know this is possible via the Lobby Ambassador who can create guest accounts but sometimes there too many. We use this for customers who are on our premises for longer periods. But now we would like something for those who are only there for a day, let's say.
So therefor the selfregistration of guest users on a seperate SSID... Is something like that possible? Time based ACL's? time based access?
Kind regards

Hi Tim
Welcome to CSC.
It sounds like you want to provide simple guest access on a limited time basis with a log on. There are a few challenges .. As you know lobby admin is the way to go .. but here are a few other options ...
You could provide a OPEN guest SSID and do a WCS / NCS WLAN schedule to turn on off the WLAN during the hours needed. This would of course be open to all ..
You could create a single guest account for folks to use and still do the above.

  • Limit the number of session per user in the Wired dot1x environment with ISE 1.2

    Hello,
I need to check if there is any configuration/workaround to limit the number of sessions/access per user in the Wired dot1x configuration.
I need to check if this feature is available or not to solve the following scenario:
I have 2 SW ports configured to use dot1x authentication with ISE 1.2 server.
If user A connects to the 1st port and authenticated then he will placed on a VLAN based on the authorization profile.
The case, that I need to deny the same user to connect on a different machine with the same credentials.
The ISE itself does not have this feature currently,  the only feature available is to limit the number of sessions for the guest user.
Is there any workaround on the Cisco switches to solve this? Cisco WLC has this feature and for the VPN we can limit the number of sessions also from the ASA itself.
    Thanks.

limit number of session per user using wired dot1x is not available in 1.3

  • How can I limit connection time of a device with Time Capsule?

I would like to limit the time certain members of my family can use their devices during the week.  While the built in parental controls on Apple OS are ok, I am now faced with multiple devices (eg, iPod, MacBook, non Apple devices, etc), and it seems like the easiest way to manage connection time would be through the router - eg, via the MAC address and some time allocation per calendar day.
Is there any way to achieve this with Time Capsule?  Failing that, any other ideas are welcomed.

A quick google will get you the answer.. yes.. use the access controls.

  • Auto claim a Task in the Worklist and limit the amount of assings per user

    Hi, I have two questions:
    1) Is there a way to implement "auto claim" in the worklist? I need to assign the task to the logged user as soon as the task is opened by the user.
    2) Is there a way to limit the amount of tasks that the user claims? I need to avoid the situation of a user claiming more than one task. In other words, I need that "If a user claims a task, he MUST release or action it before claiming another task"
    Thanks in advance,

    I'm working with 11g

Ok, I understand your use case for question 1. I actually have this same problem I have been trying to solve for a couple of weeks and haven't found a solution. My use case is slightly different. I have to assign to a group, but in some cases, I know which user in the group the task should be assigned to. However, the requirement is that I assign to the group. So I am trying to figure out how to use the routeTask method of the task service to route the task to the user after the task has already been created and assigned to the group. Not sure yet if that works. I have an SR open with Oracle Support. In your case, it sounds like you want the first member of the assigneeGroup who looks at the task to become the acquiredBy user. I would assume you would need to use routeTask in the Workflow API (in my case, I am using routeTask from BPEL).
On the second question, I doubt that you will find any out-of-box mechanism to do this. There are the three workload balancing rules built into workflow API and available in the worklist application - round robin, least busy, and most productive. But none of those will fit your requirement. However, supposedly you should be able to create your own algorithm. I don't know how to do this, but there should be some place in the documentation that tells you how to do it.

  • Restriction SSID Per User with ACS 5.x version

    Hi
I would like to ask some question on WLAN technology, which I using WiSM version 2. And i get requirement that user must be restrict with SSID, so, i found that it can do it on ACS version 4.x via NAR for SSID-based authentication feature. Then, is it possible to do restriction on ACS Version 5.x?
Please give me the idea or help
    Thanks

There is a guide how to achieve this with ACS4.2:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00807669af.shtml
    (you probably know that one)
This is also working with ACS5.x, maybe this can help you:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_secure_access_control_system/5.2/user/guide/pol_elem.html#wp1074194
Be careful when configuring a DNIS in ACS5, maybe you are hitting CSCtk16271 (but there is an easy workaround, so this will definitely work!)

  • Limit on Number of Roles per User

We seem to have run into a limit on the number of roles that you can add to a user object. We are running IDM 5.0 sp1. Is this a know issue or is there a configuration setting we can change? The error that we are getting is as follows:
com.waveset.util.InternalError: Summary String length (2697) exceeds maximum (2048).

I got the solution for this problem
    1) Change the database to support more data in summary attribute
    2) Change the configuration--> repositoryconfiguration to support more data in summary attribute.
Please note: After changing the configuration app server needs a restart.

  • ORA-02399: exceeded maximum connect time, you are being logged off

What could have been the cause of "ORA-02399: exceeded maximum connect time, you are being logged off"? I am always getting that issue even if I am continously doing some query.

There's a resource limit active (RESOURCE_LIMIT=TRUE in pfile/spfile) and a user_profile (which limits the connection time) dedicated to the user.

  • Server 2008 R2 RDP: limit max number of rdp connections per user group?

    Hello everyone,
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 with RDP installed.
I want to create a couple of user groups which will have 5 different users in each. Then I would like to limit RDP connections, let's say 2 connections for the first group and 3 connections for the second group. For example, if 2 users from Group 1 are connected
then when a 3rd user from Group 1 tries to connect it will be rejected to connect, but 3 users from Group 2 still can connect. Is it doable?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Limit on devices per user that can connect to Office Mobile or Office for iPad apps?

We are are on an E3 license for Office 365. What is the maximum number of devices that a user can connect to the various mobile apps? I had hard 5 was the max, but can not find any documentation to support this. We are interested in using both Office Mobile
and the new Office for iPad apps and want to understand any restrictions at the user level. Thanks.

    Hi,
You are correct 5 devices max per user, these devices could be a PC/Tablet/Phone etc... (they all count as a device)

  • Per user bandwidth rate limit.

How to configure per user bandwidth rate limit for wireless guest client, authentication server is ISE 1.2 & wireless controller is 5760.

The Cisco 5760 WLC supports better QoS than other c
    ontrollers, allowing prioritization of mission-crit
    ical
    applications:

The Cisco 5760 WLC supports four wireless hardware
queues and priority-based queuing compared to
    software-based queuing in existing controllers.

The Cisco 5760 WLC follows MQC based commands, allo
wing usage of exact commands for configuring
QoS on different types of network devices.

The Cisco 5760 WLC supports QoS policies to be appl
ied in a hierarchical fashion with more granularity
per SSID per radio, while on the current controller
    s granularity is per WLAN.

The Cisco 5760 WLC supports approximate fair bandwi
dth to make sure of fairness at client, SSID, and
radio levels for Non-Real Time (NRT) traffic. There
fore, if one user consumes excessive bandwidth, we
    can
limit the amount of bandwidth that user receives an

  • Deterimining bandwidth/concurrent users/connect time from the logs

    Hi Guys,
Looking at the pricing survey, not sure where our app fits in, but something on the order of what I've listed below.  Somehow I think we fit into a minimal usage case:
    1) 2 hours per day, less than 10 concurrent chat users,
    2) each chat session under 100 messages, 10 lines per message, per session?
What would this mean in terms of resource usage?
We've just run an internal alpha.  How do I look at the resource usage?  Is there a way for me to see how much bandwidth / max users / concurrent connections have been used for a given account/room?
I hope there is a quick and easy answer.
    --Doug

Thanks!  This helps a bunch. I went back to the survey but I'm not allowed in, so I'm going to ask.  Projecting our usage (based upon a 1 hour alpha):
    52K minutes per month
    400K messages per month
    <1GB bandwidth
Under some of the pricing models, how much would our chat application cost on a monthly basis?
What could be done to reduce the concurrent connection times of our application, besides timing the users out?
    Thanks,

  • Limit BTC per user

    Hi,
SAP R3 on my system, I need to limit the amount of work processes BTC per user, because some users launch several processes at the same time causing inconvenience in the whole system.
Is there any parameter or report that can control this situation?
    Regards
    Marco Sousa

    Hi,
As per my knowledge, there is no such option where you can limit the usuage of BTC work process as per user. The alternate would be firstly educate users strictly not to run any huge reports in background during the peak time or remove the access of executing in background. Other thing is look at the possibility of increasing the BTC process if bussiness requirement needs them to execute in background. If resources are not sufficient to increase the BTC process then configure the operation modes and convert the dialog process to BTC process.

  • P1102W wifi connection requires SSID pluss user name and password to connect

    Hello Community.
I had investigate how to connect my P1102w printer to the wifi and it is easy but here is the problem.
I have no problem searching with Printer wifi config my WIFI SSID. (usb printer plugged) but My connection requieres when SSID found a user and a password.
I have not find where does the printer have the option to set up my user name and password to login in the needed SSID.
    Can sombody help me.
    Thanks.

Yes, but the method is to simply connect the TC to the computer by ethernet and use it on a separate network. That is the best way to do it.. but you can also do the same thing better and easier with an external hard disk plugged in. For a desktop computer this is a better solution in a way. You will only be using the TC for Time Machine backups anyway.
If you want to continue to use the TC.. then the actual network settings I put in this thread with a whole series of pictures.

  • Flex connect with a per user ACL with APs locally switched

    Hi all,
Does flex connect allow a per user ACL to be downloaded to the session with local switched, central authentication? We are using ISE for the central policy engine and have setup dACL for wired but am about to embark on WLAN. The controller is a 5508 and the. APs are 3700's.
Second question- if the flex connect APs don't do any form of per user ACL, the other option is to have the units in regular mode where they are both centrally switched and centrally authenticated which I understand to support a per user ACL. Our WAN links are between 10mbps - 30mbps and the most latency would be around 40ms. Will this cause issues at all with the size WAN links and latency?
    Thanks
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

Well you are running v7.6 so FlexConnect per user radius ACL's are supported per this doc since v7.5.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/5500-series-wireless-controllers/112042-technote-product-00.html#anc9
As far as WAN latency, 200ms is good, but it depends in your WAN utilization now and how many AP's you plan on installing and the increase in wireless traffic across your WAN. There is a minimum requirement, but it's up to you in the end to make sure you have enough bandwidth or else you will need to QoS the capwap traffic to ensure the APs don't bounce from connected to stand alone.
