Limit Data Bandwidth on VoIP

We are an US based international call centre. We are using cisco AS5300 as our VoIP gateway. I would like to know if i can use the same AS5300 for internet as well. If yes how can i limit the bandwidth out of the total bandwidth i have for data i.e. internet. Please let me know at the earliest.

Hello,
as an additional info to the previous post: I would recommend to use LLQ for voip traffic.
Not only a certain amount of bandwidth but also low delay are important for voip traffic.
So outbound you could use a policy like this:
ip cef
class-map match-any VoIP
match ip dscp ef cs5
match protocol rtp audio
class-map match-any VoIPsignal
match ip dscp cs3
policy-map VoIPprio
class VoIP
priority percent 10
class VoIPsignal
bandwidth remaining percent 5
class class-default
fair-queue
random-detect
interface Serial0
ip address ...
service-policy output VoIPprio
You would have to adjust the bandwith ratios for your needs and the interface naming to your environment.
The policy will give 10% of the link to voip traffic with lowest possible delay, 5% of the rest for voip signaling, and the rest for the other data present.
Again as already mentioned your ISP controls the interface towards you and you might need his helps to solve potential voip qos issues arising from dropped packets on his side.
Hope this helps! PLease rate all posts.

  • How to globally limit the bandwidth of FMS 3.5

    Hi all,
Can you give me a hint on how to solve this or confirm me the following ?
Is it possible to limit globally the bandwidth usage of FMS 3.5 ?
I don't want FMS  to use all the bandwidth available via our ISP.
I want my coworkers and other servers to be able to continue using Internet while sending/receiving data from/to FMS
I know it is possible to limit various bandwidths per Applications, but it seems there is no easy way - using the xml config files - to globally limit the server bandwidth.Ok I could compute a limit per app, but it is not a long terme solution to modify all the config files each time a new applications is to be installed.
So I think it is not possible to easily limit globally the bandwidth of FMS.
Do you agree with me ?
If not, how did you manage this : do you have an example, some code ?
    Thanks for your answers
    Fred

Thanks for the try, though I'd hope you aimed at a another solution
I think your proposition is not possible this way, because:
(It is for streaming only )
    1) say we have a BW of 100 [Mb/s] available for this FMS.
    2) the individual bw needed by the media files (indbw) within an application ranges from 200 [kb/s] to 2000[kb/s] (some files are audio, others medium quality video, some good quality video)
    3) the BandwidthCap (in application.xml) is  per connection within the application. (to simplify the talk we choose a BandwidthCap = indbw )
    4) the MaxConnections (in vhost.xml) is per vhost
The question is "which indbw one chooses to divide the available 100 [Mb/s] BW" : ( MaxConnections = BW divided by BandwidthCap )
    Two possibilities:
    A) Let's take audio only indbw, that's 200 [kb/s], then FMS can serve 500 connections
    B) Let's take good quality vid indbw, that's 20000 [kb/s], then FMS would be limited to 50 connections.
Both ways are not good :  in A) we risk jamming the internet link if too many of the connections are in fact streaming video, in B) we can not serve enough people and will likely waste some BW sinc not all clients will stream good quality video.
Does anyone has another hint about " how to globally limiting the bandwidth of Flash Media Server 3.5" ?

  • RV220W limit inbound bandwidth on VLAN

    Hi
Can anyone help? I have set up 3vlans with their own SSIDs on my RV220w. I am on a fibre broadband connection but want to limit the bandwidth on 2 of these to 8mbps.
what is the best way to do this in the router settings? If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
    Thank you

You can use a service-policy on the ASA:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa84/configuration/guide/asa_84_cli_config/mpf_service_policy.html
This is only going to limit outbound traffic and while you can limit inbound (from the ISP) the data has already been received and thus used bandwidth.  it would though force TCP connections to throttle back, but with enough users all trying to do something, a service-policy policing traffic may not work as well as you expect.

  • Want to change payer and update credit limit data with out delete documents

    Hi Expert,
I have a problem that user feed 50-60 documents ( Sale order & delivery ) with wrong payer. Now we want to change payer and shift credit limit data ( open sale order , open delivery ) from old payer to new payer is any option for this.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Suresh Kumar

    Hi
Ideally in your case, you may have to delete the delivery documents and then recreate the deliveries after updating the payer in the sales order. This is because the source for the partner function in Delivery will be mostly updated as "from sales order" and hence it is not possible to change the payer in the delivery document.
In this case, you have to first find out the relevant delivery documents and delete them
Then you can change the partners in the sales order
Finally you can recreate the delivery documents.
However I would request you to do the following test before following this.
In the SO, change the payer without deleting the delivery. If the partner in delivery gets changed automatically then it is fine. You can ensure this by checking the delivery in DISPLAY mode.
If payer is not changing automatically then go to delivery in CHANGE mode and now check it. If the payer changes automatically now, you are spared with the pain of deleting and recreating deliveries once again.
If both of them fails, then the only way is to delete deliveries first, change payer in SO and then recreate deliveries.
This is applicable only if PGI is not yet done.

  • Is possible to limit sharing bandwidth of peers in  Netgroup   ?

    Hi everyone,
I am creating an audio-video conference tool using flex and FMS 3.5. I am using Netgroupfor publishing audio-video.
Issue is that each peer share its bandwidth. I set Netstream.multicastPushNeighborLimit = 0  but peers still share there bandwidth. Is it possible to limit sharing bandwidth of peers in Netgroup? if yes then How? please reply.
    Thank you.

    Thanks Michael,
I found one more issue with P2P. There is a delay of 4-5 second in live streaming.
Can u have any solution how to remove this delay?
    multicastPushNeighborLimit
    multicastWindowDuration
    multicastRelayMarginDuration
    multicastAvailabilityUpdatePeriod
    multicastFetchPeriod
    multicastAvailabilitySendToAll
Can these properties help if yes than  how can I use these properties to remove delay.
    Thank You

  • How to limit the bandwidth on another computer

Hi, I have a wrt54g router and I'm sharing my DSL connection wirelessly with someone's else computer in my basement. When he is on my network my download rate is very slow, like around 10kB/s (my total download bandwidth is 1.5 MB/s)... but when he is not connected, I can download about 70 kB/s. I think it is slow because he is using up a lot of bandwidth so I was wondering if there's is a way to set the router to limit his bandwidth to a certain amount.  I have a Duron 750 processor. Thanks.

I think you have the same problem with this thread.. check this .

  • LIMS data of inspection type 89 to be uploaded in SAP QM

How to upload the LIMS data into SAP. These data are for for different material. And each material have different batch. A lot of batch is their. Inspection type is 89. How to upload the data batch wise????

Check with your LIMS vendor.  Must LIMS vendor provide the routines required to interface with SAP.
There is no straight forward answer to what you are asking.  Interfacing a LIMS has a lot a of moving parts to it.  It's best to work with your vendor.

  • Business Customer - How can I limit data for employees / users?

    Hello,
I am a small business customer and I would like to put a data cap on our company cell phones.  Each has an iphone 6 which doesn't have great apps to auto limit data and such after reaching a certain limit.  I know Verizon has some services that can do this for the personal accounts but I don't understand why this is not available to the business customers.  Sure, I can have them pay for their overages but I would rather just give them a set amount to use and have it stop at that point.  Wifi would always be available.

How many emails are we talking about per day? If these are just text emails they should not be taking much more space than just downloading the header would take. Are they a few paragraphs or several pages long?
If they contain attachments, such as pictures, they will take much more room but it should limit how much is loaded and give you an option for downloading the rest of that email.
I asked my neighbor how many emails she gets per day and she said about 20 - 25 and she stays well within her 200Mb.
If you are getting more than this then you really can't afford a smartphone and if you are within your return period you should immediately do so. And I did read your thread.
I'm not sure what purpose there would be to getting headers only. If that is the case get people to text you instead.
As for your suggestion to Apple, send it here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Data Bandwidth Being Throttled

I have monitored the Data Bandwidth since 03/28 and noted that between the hours of 12:00am and 06:00am bandwidth is 1.5mbps to 2.0mbps.  After that I also noted that the bandwidth drops to appx .08mbps.  These tests have been on at least 3 other phones with the same results in the Phoenix, AZ area.  Is anyone else experiencing this?

I averaged over 10GB each month for 24 months, some months I was as high as 19GB usage.  I never saw any data throttling.
I had a job where we sat around on call 14 hours a day in a remote area.  So I would watch videos on Hulu etc and listen to streaming music for most of the shift.  I never even got a notice about my data usage or had any Customer Service people mention it.  I even had an issue durring this time frame where the Customer Relations Vice President gave me a $100 device credit.  When it came time for renewing my contract this past July, they begged me 3-4 times a week to renew.
So I think it's safe to say that VZW does not throttle data usage.

  • Do the sub-interface of ASA firewall has limit of bandwidth

do the sub-interface of ASA firewall has limit of bandwidth? or how does the bandwidth of the physical interface divided among the sub-interface? is there a cisco documentation url link that explains this?

    Nakayama-san,
The configuration recommendation to limit the traffic entering the router was intended for legacy (i.e. non-ISR routers). Since you are using a 2811, I would recommend that you test WAAS without these limitations configured.
    Thanks,
    Zach

If you're looking to limit bandwidth FROM your server, you can use an ingress policy on the server's interface and police selectively.  For example, if your specific VM has its own IP address, you could police inbound (from the server) traffic matching that IP.

    Hi all
    I have two question:
    1) There is a method for limit the TOTAL (not for client) bandwidth in downstream withouth the Server Side Action Script ?
    2) If the anwer on the first question is NO (i think NO) can you give me an example of the script for limit the TOTAL bandwidth in Downstream ?
    Thanks all.

Routers don't have feature to limit bandwidth by some to some cumulative amount.
What you might be able to do is use embedded scripting, monitor usage from 6 AM to 8 PM, and as it approaches your cumulative limit, add (via the embedded script) a policer to try to avoid hitting your cap.  The embedded script could set a policy, as the cap is about to be reached, to drop all further packets.  It could also have tiers allowed policed bandwidths, which slow egress rates as cap is approached.

  • EF class bandwidth for VoIP not fully utilised

We have a customer who has subscribed to 1M of EF ( Expedite forwarding) class bandwidth ( in a 2M link)for transporting voice, AF1 class 392K for Voice signalling. The codec used is G.729b.The problem faced by the customer is they are not able to fully utilise the 1M bandwidth allocated for voice. The number of voice calls doesn't exceed 30 although there is enough bandwidth for about 35+ calls. There are also no drops seen in EF class.
Any idea whats causing this? Any specific debug which can be captured on the router when call volume peaks?
    Many Thanks
    ED

'show isdn call-rate' on some platforms will show you if the call flow is going through a PRI.
Otherwise there isn't much in the CLI that will tell you this, and you would need VOIP monitoring software.
'show voice call stat', 'show voice call summary', and 'show call active voice brief' will allow you to see many active calls are up at any given time, but no historical data.
You may want to try switching from G.729b to G.729. G.729b is going to have a varying bandwidth since it only sends packets when there is speech. If you use G.729 you will have a constant-rate codec rather than variable and you will receive better voice quality and more reliable QoS/bandwidth requirements.

  • Limit total bandwidth sent by a router

I have a router in a remote location that the ISP limits us so we can only send up to 800MB of data from 6 am to 8 pm after that we can send as much as we want. I have some servers that I always want to be able to get out - is there a way to put a hard cap on the users so that they have 200 MB of data in those hours and if they "spend" it all they are cut off until the unlimited time.
I do not need to shape or police traffic - i need to put a cap on the router so it will not over send the 800MB limit - is this possible?
