Limit itunes purchases to gift cards only......

I have three kids and all have ipods and one computer and one itunes account.
How can I have them purchase things from the itunes store using their own seperate _gift cards_ with their own accounts? I don't want to use my credit card for allowances. I only want them to be able to buy music when they receive a gift card *only*. When I first set up the itunes account...if you ran out of money on your (redeemed gift card)...it automaically charged your credit card. I don't want it to do that anymore.
Please help!!

You can remove your credit card completely from an account and solely use cards. To quote the iTunes Store team:
1) Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple website at:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
Note: Installing the latest version of iTunes will not affect your library or any items in your account that you haven't downloaded.
2) To launch iTunes and be taken to your Apple Account Information page, click this link:
http://phobos.apple.com/accountSummary
(If you are not already signed in, you will need to enter your iTunes Store account name and password and then click the Account Info button to sign in.)
3) The Apple Account Information page will appear. On this page, click the Edit Payment Information button, which is the second button from the top.
4) On the Edit Payment Information page, select "None" from the list of credit card types. This will delete your billing information.
5) Be sure to click the Done button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

  • Hi I have an iTunes account with my uk debit card but am currently in Australia, can I buy and use an iTunes/app store gift card in AU$ or am I only allowed to acces the store in gbp£ ?

Hi I have an iTunes account with my uk debit card but am currently in Australia, can I buy and use an iTunes/app store gift card in AU$ or am I only allowed to acces the store in gbp£ ? Cheers

I had the same error when trying to update my apps on my ipod touch. I tried to input my security code numerous times to no avail. I also made sure my billing address was the same as what my bank had on file. To fix the issue I went into iTunes, logged onto the iTunes store, went to account settings and reviewed my recent purchases. Turned out that I had made a recent purchase and didn't have enough money left on my credit card to pay for it at the time. I paid off the credit card, and then input my security code once more and now it works fine. I've heard that some debit or pay as you go credit cards require a minimum balance, so make sure you have at least that amount in your account.

  • Moving abroad: can I pay with iTunes Gift Cards only?

    Hi,
In September I'll be moving to Germany for 9 months as part of my uni degree. I want to change the country of the iTunes Store so I can buy songs when I'm in Germany.
At the moment there is no credit/debit card associated with my account - I have always paid for songs using Gift Cards. I plan to add my UK debit card sometime soon to spend the remaining Gift Card balance (as the full  balance must be spent before switching countries), and then remove the debit card from my account. Then, when I get to Germany and change the iTunes Store country, I want to purchase a Gift Card and use it to start buying songs in Germany.
What I would like to know is: is this possible? Or do I have to link a German credit/debit card to my accouint to buy songs after switching countries?
    Thank you,
    Katie

    Hi PurpleOmNom,
You can redeem and use an iTunes Gift Card without a credit card.  From:
Redeeming iTunes Gift Cards and content codes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1574
If you already have an account, you can redeem your gift card without using a credit card. If you don’t have an account, you can create a new account without payment information.

  • Purchasing a gift card by changing country in iTunes

Hi, I am located in Switzerland (before I was located in Argentina). I would like to buy a gift card for a friend and send it by email to him.
I understand I can only buy gift cards to be used from the store I am buying them from. But I noticed that if I go to the bottom right corner of the itunes Store screen I can change te country back to Argentina. If I do this and then purchase a gift card there will I be buying the gift card in the Argentinean store? Will my friend be able to use it?
The idea is to do this and afterwars change the itunes store again back to Switzerland.
    Did anybody tried this?
    Thanks in advance

    a) If I am in the borders of that country or not its a detail that Apple nor nobody could ever check.
Sure they can. IP address ranges are all assigned by country, so it's easy to check whether your computer is in a given country. Whether Apple does so is something they keep quiet.
    b) I have a credit card from Argentina and another from Switzerland.
    c) I have a billing address from Argentina and from Switzerland.
What you say is that I should have an Apple account exclusively to be used within Argentina to be able to give to my friends iTunes cards in Argentina and another one in Switzerland in case I want to buy an iTunes Gift Card in Switzerland? Just changing the itunes store country wont do the trick?
You can't change away from the country in which your payment method is established. So you would indeed need two separate iTunes Store accounts, one set up in Argentina with your Argentine credit card and another set up in the Swiss iTunes Store with the Swiss credit card if you wish to buy from both countries, and according to the terms of use of the iTunes Store, you agree not to even attempt to use any country's Store from outside of that country.
Today I was in a supermarket and there is no sign in the itunes gift card they sell saying that the card wont be usable in an account that is from outside Switzerland. And if it says something as a foreginer who doesnt speaks the local language (French or German), I wouldnt know what it says about it.   I would assume that every itunes card in everypart of the world would be usable for any itunes account.
I can't read the text on the back of that card from your photo, and I haven't looked at an English card recently to see the text given, but your assumption is incorrect. Gift cards and gifts make through the iTunes Store are valid only in the country whose iTunes Store they were give through or in which the card was sold. That's the way its been since the beginning of gifting in the iTunes Store. The terms for gift cards in the Apple Store make it very clear that cards are indeed valid only in the country of purchase.
    Regards.

Part of the validation for credit cards is that they need to be registered to exactly the same name and address that you have on your iTunes account, which prepaid cards tend not to be. Do you have a proper credit card that you could use ? Or are iTunes gift cards available in your country so that you could try using them as your payment method ?
Until you have a valid payment method on your account and what you owe iTunes has been paid off then you won't be able to download any item from the store, including free apps (and updates to apps).

  • Will I get a receipt when I purchase a gift card from the iTunes store?

I need to purchase (via the iTunes store) a gift card to be added to my work account and then claim the money back.
Does anyone know if I will be sent a receipt of purchase when I buy an online gift card?
    Thank you in advance!

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here. If you didn't make the purchase then you can contact iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • From the USA, how can I purchase a gift card or certificate to give to someone to redeem in the iTunes store of a foreign country?

From the USA, how can I purchase a gift card or certificate to give to someone to redeem in the iTunes store of a foreign country?

No, it means you switch from the US store to the other store. Afterwards you just switch back to the US store. You can theoretically have accounts in many different iTunes stores. Switching is simply logging out of one and logging into another after switching countries. There's a switch country link at the bottom of the iTunes Store.
Personally, it seems it would be much simpler to send a check to all of your friends. Far less trouble than trying to open bank accounts and get credit cards from different countries unless you frequently travel to them and don't mind maintaining cash balances in different banks across the world. Not to mention getting credit cards. Here in Vancouver they won't give me a credit card unless I maintain a $5,000.00 minimum balance in my Canadian checking account. If I did that I'd hardly have much need for the charge card.

    Yes.
You have already redeemed it.  It should be available on the old account.  Why did you make another?

  • Cannot play songs purchased with gift card (on my iPod on)

I just purchased the King Kong soundtrack on iTunes with a gift card I received for Christmas. I downloaded the songs onto my laptop and transferred them to my iPod (video, 60 GB). When I try to play the songs on my iPod, they will just be skipped over to the next track. (I can play them off my iPod when it's attached to my laptop, or my G4 tower at home, which is also Authorized).
I've purchased other songs with my account in the past and they play fine. I checked the song info. in iTunes and the account information is identical to the other purchases. The only difference seems to be these were purchased with the gift card (which the file info. doesn't indicate).
What do I need to do? Thank you brilliant folks out there.

Alas, did not work. Tried playing a few songs in iTunes, copied those songs over to the iPod, no dice.
I manually manage my songs on iPod, so I'm hesitant to just auto-sync and see if that would solve it, but I may try that if nothing else works...

Would it be possible for me to download iTunes in Parallels and get the files into that and then onto my iPod?
Yes, you can download iTunes for Windows using Parallels. If planning on making purchases here and/or authorizing already purchased tracks (from your Mac iTunes library), you are permitted to authorize five (5) computers as per iTunes Store terms of use, regardless of computing platform. No need to create a separate new iTunes Store account.
However, judging from what you would like to do, your best bet would be to convert the WMAs to AAC/MP3 in iTunes-Windows (iTunes-Mac cannot import WMA files), and drag the files from the Parallels window to your desktop to add to the iTunes-Mac library. (as the iPod itself is currently linked to your iTunes-Mac library)
    Hope this helps,
    Steve

  • I have 60,000 songs on my iMac, probably at least 40,000 of them were iTunes purchases, yet Match is only holding 35,000 total. Shouldn't it hold all iTunes purchase plus 25,000 from other sources?

That would mean you've blown around $30k on iTunes. Are you sure? Are you really going to listen to 60,000 songs that the limit is not enough for you? Is that like the full discography of every artist you know? I already have a couple of hundred cds on iTunes Match and that includes stuff that maybe just maybe I'll listen to someday. Most of it I added for the **** of it.
