Limit of AppleTV's syncing to a single Mac Mini's iTunes

What is the limit of AppleTV's that can sync to my Mac Mini's iTunes if all of the music is DRM-free? I'm looking to buy 10 or 15 AppleTV's. I find reports that 5 is limit if iTunes contains DRM-protected content, but I can't find a solid number if all is DRM-free.
Thanks.

5 appletv's per itunes library for syncing (DRM or not)
you can connect more but any above 5 will only be able to stream.
I'm not so sure about that, although I have seen a post some time ago that said they had connected 40, although I took it with a pinch of salt. If you open the itunes application package and look at the text strings contained in its included files, it seems that sharing of the library is limited to 5 instances, albeit that tv's are treated separately from other installations of itunes, so that 5 itunes and 5 tv's would be possible.

    Generally YES.
It's possible to hold separate iTunes library's on a single machine.
Generate two new folders inside the Music folder of the Mini and name them differently; e.g. man and woman.
Copy your whole library into "man" and your wifes into "woman"
Go to sharing in the system settings of the Mini and share the Music folder in your network.
After copying the whole library's to the Mini you may point iTunes to the new location at startup by holding the option key (alt) at the keyboard.
iTunes will then ask you where the library is located.
Point it to the matching library on the Mini.
    That's all.

PS ... If you both use only the Mini you have to setup a user account for each and just copy the whole library to the Music folder in particular.

Apologies.  So you tried all the troubleshooting here?

Have you tried a different USB port and/or USB sync cable?  What happens if you place the iPod into Disk Mode?  Does it show up then?

  • IPad sync fails on new Mac Mini

Im trying to get my iPad 1 to sync with a new Mac Mini, but whenever I choose "transfer purchases" it gets stuck at "waiting for sync to start." I've restarted all sorts of things and tried to sync both over wifi and USB.  It simply won't start, and I've tried for a couple days.  I even tried erase and sync, but it still wouldn't start the process.  Any ideas?

    No ideas on this one?

  • Why dosen't my i-pod sync to my new mac mini?

Hello everyone - I am sure the answer to this is pretty simple. But then so am I. Hence the request for help.
I had my i-pod sync'd to an i-mac at my old job. I have since gone freelance and bought a little mac mini to run things from.
However - when I try to sync from the new mac mini my i-pod isn't found - scan for device dosen't find it. I have tried a reset of i-sync but still nothing.
Is there something I can do so the new mac 'finds' my i-pod?
    Hope that makes sense.
Thanks to anyone who can help

If you are using iTunes 4.8 or later, iSync is not involved in transfering your contact and calendaring records to an iPod - iTunes alone is responsible for this process.
Setting up to sync your iPod
If you do not have iTunes 4.8 or later installed on your computer, you can use iSync to transfer the contact and calendar information on your computer to your iPod. Before you can use iSync with your iPod, you need to add your iPod to iSync by following the instructions below. You need to do this only once.
If you have iTunes 4.8 or later, you use iTunes to transfer contacts and calendars to your iPod. For more information, open iTunes (in your Applications folder), and choose Help > "iTunes and Music Store Help."
To add your iPod to iSync:
    1. Make sure you have the latest iPod software installed. Choose Apple menu > Software Update to see if there are any iPod software updates available.
    2. Connect your iPod to your computer using the cable provided with your iPod.
    3. Open iSync.
    4. Choose Devices > Add Device, then double-click the iPod in the Add Device window.
An iPod appears in the iSync window.

  • Sync both iPod Touch & Mac Mini to Al BT Keyboard Simultaneously

I have synced my Aluminum BT keyboard with my iPod Touch iOS 4 with good result. However it no longer was in sync with my Mac Mini. I then could not sync with my Mac Mini. I had to shut off the iPod to get back to the Mac Mini. Most frustrating. Do I have to buy a second Al BT Keyboard in order to have a keyboard sync with my iPod? Or can I get the keyboard to do two devices simultaneously.

The Apple wireless keyboard will only work with one mac devise at a time. I have two Apple wireless keyboards.

  • One phone, sync photos to one Mac user account, iTunes to another?

My laptop has two User accounts, one for me and one for my wife.  My wife's iPhone syncs with the iTunes on my user account.  However, she would like her iPhone's photos to sync to the iPhoto on her user account.
Is there a way to do this?  If we connect her iPhone while her user account is open, it wants to erase all of her iTunes music.

Just use My Photo Stream in iPhoto to sync the photos from her iPhone to iPhoto.

  • Organising/Syncing photos between iPad & folder on Mac mini

    Hi folks.
Hoping somebody out there can help, though judging by the sheer volume of complaints I've seen here with similar problems, I'm not too hopeful...
Trying to keeping my problem simple & to the point here:
    1) I regularly import photos (which I have painstakingly re-named) from a designated sync folder on my Mac mini, via iTunes
    2) No matter what I've re-named my photos, they are obviously not organised by name when viewed in the 'Photos' app on my iPad3. From what I have read, apparently they are displayed by modified date... (VERY helpful Apple!!! Not).
    3) Following some tips here, I purchased 'Photo Manager Pro'. However, when I import the photos from an album on my iPad, into 'Photo Manager Pro', all the file names are different, so using its extra organising options is hopeless, as my original filenames are gone! Now, are my photos being renamed from the initial sync between iPad and Mac mini (via iTunes), or between the import between iPads 'Photos' app and 'Photo Manager Pro'???
    So my question(s) are:
    A) When you sync photos between a chosen folders on a Mac, and the iPad (via iTunes), are the files renamed when transferred to the iPad? If they are, is there a way to retain the original names?
    B) Why are the filenames shown within 'Photo Manager Pro' different to the ones I named/imported? (i.e. should say 2013_06_12.JPG, but instead will show, IMG145.JPG for example). Is this a fault of Photo Manager Pro, or the initial Mac/iPad photo sync process?
    C) Is there any way I can EASILY do something as simple as wanting to import photos into iPad, WITHOUT have to use iPhoto to organise things so they at least display in the correct order? (Sorry Apple fans, I do NOT like iPhoto, and want to keep it out of my work-flow...)
ANY help or advice would be truly appreciated, as I'm soooo close to giving up on my iPad now. Something as utterly simple as this should not be so complicated to work around, surely?! On the iPad I miss the drag & drop conveniance of Finder on the Mac, and the ability to just simply hit a menu button and organise things they way I want to see them (being as I own and paid for the gear!). I am stunned it is so 'messy' on the iPad...
    Thanks muchly folks.
    - John

This can be done but its a bit tricky.
If you want to retain files names when importing photos into photo manager pro you need to use iTunes not the "photos" app.
    1) open itunes
    2) click the iPad button
    3) Apps tab
    4) at the bottom of the pane look for "File sharing"  select the PhotoMgrPro icon
    5)  the the pane next to it should now be called "PhotoMgrPro Documents. Click the add button.
    6) Slect the desired images for import, click "add."
I need to manage multiple large collections of sales photos in PhotoMgrPro and I found that importing one collection at a time was the easyest way to manage.
    7) Open PhotoMgrPro
    8) create a new folder
    9) Open it and then click the import button on the bottom left.
    10) Select itunes.
    11) import. ( original file names should be intact )
    12) the images should remove themselves from the itunes que after import.
    13) repeat

  • How do I sync files on Mac mini and MacBook pro

I want to sync files between my Mac Mini and my MacBook Pro. Is there a way to do this? Primarily, I want to access photos in my LightRoom Catalog from both platforms. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Note that there's a difference between sharing and syncing.
Sharing will allow you to access the files on your Mini from your MBP, but the files won't be on your MBP when you take it somewhere else.
Syncing is making both Macs have identical copies of files, so that a change on one Mac makes a change on the other Mac.
If you've got a large LightRoom catalogue and limited space on your MBP, then you want sharing. The link above should get you started with that.
For syncing, I recommend BitTorrent Sync, which is free. It's basically "DropBox without the cloud". You select a folder to sync, and then whenever your two Macs are on the same network, any file in that folder that changes is synced to the other Mac.
I use it to keep my entire Documents folder synced between my Mini and MBP.
    http://www.bittorrent.com/sync
You may need to be careful about modifying the same document on both computers at the same time, though I believe BS does handle this in some way. Also, if you're syncing an app's data library, then some database files (e.g. with computer-specific data like file path names) may not sync well.
Of course, you could use DropBox, though you'll need to subscribe if you want more than a couple of GB.

  • Use Mac mini as AppleTV

    Hi,
I have an iMac to use iTunes for playback and buying/downloading media. The iTunes library file is stored on this iMac. The music folder (which menas all the music/movies...) are stored on a linux server. Now, because I also have a Mac mini which is not in use, I want to use this like an AppleTV to playback all media that are stored in iTunes on the iMac. Is that possible?

    @Chenks
It's not about either buying a Mac mini or an AppleTV. I already have the Mac mini and want to use it like an AppleTV.
I know that I can playback bought and rented movies just in iTunes and not in Front Row. Normally I would set up the source for Front Row on the Mac mini to the iMac, but probably I can't playback the drm movies that way. Is it possible to share the movies from iTunes on the iMac and playback it directly from iTunes on the Mac mini?

  • Sync Ical. Mac mini+Macbook pro

I am looking for a simple efficient way to constantly/automatically sync data from my mac mini to my macbook pro.
    Thanks.

Since all the heavy lifting has been completed with the
file transfers, I would consider doing all the syncing
via wireless network if you have one.   If not, you can
set up the Mini to create a wireless network and just
connect the MBPR to it (the reverse would work as
    well).
If for some reason you really want to do a wired connection,
then you would have to boot one or the other into target disk
mode and then connect them via TB or FW.
For file syncing, there are a variety of apps out there to
accomplish that.  You just need to set up file sharing
on both Macs and select the folders to share.

  • How can i sync my mac mini to a A1 pioneer wireless speaker?

i just bought a A1 wireless speaker and cant sync it to my mac mini, i have a dental office and want to use the wireless speaker in the waiting room but i cant sync it, can somebody help, i would greatly apprecaite it. thank you.

By reading the manual it will only work with computers:
    - A PC XP and above with Window media player. I think it has to be wired.
    - One of the new Macs that support AirPlay. The speakers do not use Bluetooth, only wifi. The following says you can get AIrPlay to work on earlier Macs (and PCs) with third-part programs.

  • HT3819 How many Ipods can I sync to a single computer?

how many Ipods can I sync to a single computer?

iTunes is limited to authorizing only five computers with each iTunes account. This means that you can only authorize five separate Mac or PC computers or user accounts to playback protected iTunes content or use Home Sharing using a single iTunes Account.
For example, if you have created five different user accounts on the same computer, and have authorized iTunes for each user account on that one computer with the same iTunes Account, then you have reached your maximum number of authorizations.  This is also true if you have used that one iTunes Account on the same user account on five different computers. Basically, each iTunes Account can authorize up to a maximum of five instances of iTunes.
You can deauthorize computers or accounts at any time following the instructions found at Apple’s support website. Once you have iTunes configured with a single  iTunes Account, there is not no limit to the number of iPods, iPhones, and iPads one can sync to a single iTunes library.
