Limit of Streaming AP's

I have an AP Extreme (802.11n) that has 4 AP Express"Extending" the wireless network in 802.11n(b/g compatibility mode). My main purpose for this is streaming music to the APExpress units that are in various areas around my house. Is there any additional optimization that I can do to allow streaming to more than 2 APExpress? I can easily have 2 streaming at any one time (doesn't seem to matter what 2) but the moment I add in a 3 remote speaker from iTunes, they all start to have audio fits and spits (loss of audio or total melt down where non play any music for a minute or longer). I have very few end points accessing the network via 802.11b/g, but do have a few (2 laptops and a Wii). I'm able to keep the endpoints on the internet with no issues, but real time audio is a challenge when more than 2 APExpress are engaged.
As I said, my goal is to stream to at least 3 areas, but all 4 would be great. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks !
Eric

One additional point - all the AP Express are the 802.11n version - hence the "Extending" comment. I'm not using WDS.

  • 2 Hour Limit When Streaming

3 months ago, I posted about fact that new MBA was giving me about 2 hours of battery power when streaming, such as watching NetFlix. 88King suggested adding Flash 10.2 beta, and did so. He also pointed out that streaming with MS Silverlight was a power-hog. I now watch with Activity Monitor on, and working on wifi online capacity is excellent.
But basic problem persist when streaming. Tried to watch a 2nd film other night, but at about 2 hours, battery drained.
Is this just to limit when streaming?

You might consider trying to plug it in as much as possible when streaming. There are also external battery packs if stuck without an outlet. The air adapter works pretty well though for long flights.

  • Protect / limit the stream to display on my own site only?

    Hi :-)
Is there any way I can protect the displaying of the stream from being used (displayed) on a foreign homepage?
I would be great if I could limit the stream only to be shown on my on server / domain / IP address.
Perhaps there is some kind of logic in the streaming server where a IP address (or domain) can be defined that is allowed to show the stream?
Can this be done so no one can "steal" my stream and display it on their own site?

    Hi Nitin Goel
Thank you very much. I tried it and was denied access from other domains than what I defined in the allow tag. So it worked on the domain level...
BUT ... I could still see the stream when saving the html file (from a allowed domain) on my desktop and displaying it there.
I need to deny the displaying from desktops too. How to do this?
I will look into the access / auth plugin option. Do you have a good PHP example?

  • Limit published stream length

    Hi all,
I want to limit server recorded netstream length to 10 secs at client side using as3. How can I do that?
    Thanks in advance
    -s

    Hi seanad1209,
Since you mentioned that you want to achieve the limit on recorded stream only through client side AS3, I think you could start a timer for 10 secs and start publishing at that time, NetStream.publish("streamname", "record"). When the timer expires you can issue a command to stop the publish, NetStream.publish(false)
It won't be very accurate, you might receive a recorded stream of aproximate length close to 10 secs.
If you can use the server-side actionscript, then you can publish in live mode from client side and use the Stream.record("record",[maxDuration],[maxSize]). Or you could develop a custom authorization plug-in and deploy it on the FMS, where you would be limiting the size or duration of the recorded stream that you wish to obtain. But deploying the auth-plugin will apply these recording settings for the whole FMS irrespective of which you app you publish to.

  • Limit the Capture process to just INSERTS

    Hi,
    Source: 10.2.0.3
    Downstream Capture DB: 10.2.0.3
    Destination DB: 11.1.0.7
Is it possible to limit the Streams Capture process to only include INSERTS? We are only interested in INSERTS into the table and are not concerned with capturing any updates or deletes that are performed against the table.
When configuring the capture and apply I've set:
    include_dml => true,
Is it possible to have the capture and apply process run at a finer granuality and just capture and apply the INSERTS that have been performed against the source database tables?
    Thanks in advance.

Go to Morgan's Library at www.psoug.org and look up DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.
Scroll down to where the demo shows "and_condition => ':lcr.get_command_type() != ''DELETE''');"
That should point you in the right direction.

  • Event library 1 hour limit on video when imported videos are longer

In my event library, none of my events are more than 1 hour in length, and the video after the 1 hour mark is unavailable. When I import the event it says "87 minutes imported" or however long the clip is, yet only the first hour can be viewed, added to project etc. They are not all exactly 1 hour, some are 58 or 59 minutes, and the longest is 1:00:54 long. It is frustrating because I'm trying to import football games to make highlights, so I'm missing a lot of matches. Why is this happening/how can I access the footage in each event after the 1 hour mark? Please help me!

    Rodrigo,
We seem to be able to "stream" (progressively download) videos over 35 minutes on PCs, but not on Macs. Without more input from Apple, we don't really have any clue as to what is responsible for this problem. We had considered breaking the files into several parts to take advantage of the streaming capability, but we have decided to just have our students download the entire files if need be, since the only users affected are Mac users.
I'm just now testing to see if there is a duration limit on streaming files over the PC. After a little playing around, I think there might be a limit to the PC's streaming capabilities as well. I'll update this thread with any discoveries.
But from what I can see, you should be able to stream files over the PC. How much bandwidth does your school have?

  • Limit on Video Durations?

I have run into a limitation on streaming videos longer than 35 minutes off of iTunes U. I have uploaded many files of various sizes, resolutions, and bitrates, but the obstacle appears to be the duration of the video file. If you attempt to stream any file longer than 35 minutes, iTunes will have a status bar pop up that says "Loading..." but will never successfully load or begin streaming the file.
We have many hour long lectures that are in a video format that we would like to upload, but this limitation is frustrating. Is there any way around this limitation?

  • Setting maxP2PStreamPublish for a room

    Hi,
How do I set the parameter maxP2PStreamPublish of StreamManager for a room to enable more than 3 p2p streams to be published by a publisher?
Also, what are the implications of setting this value to a very high value??
    Thanks,
    Soumik

    Hi,
LCCS handles the p2p streams through Player and we don't put any special restrictions on the upper limit of stream capacity. For p2p streams, there are a lot of factors, the internal mesh that gets created between clients, the bandwidth required at the client to handle these streams and so on. Flash Player can handle only a particular number of those connections and when you go above that, the meshes inside player for p2p gets messed up and you can't have p2p.
You can talk to player team or post in their forums if you want internal details about p2p stream limitations. So, we always ask users to use hub-spoke if they need large number of streams in a room.
And maxP2PStreamPublish is a public var inside streamManager. So , you can do something like
    var streamManager:StreamManager = connectSession.streamManager;
    streamManager.maxP2PStreamPublish = "your val"
    Hope this helps

  • Apple TV Home Sharing Photos

    Hi folks,
I have an iMac which has home sharing turned on and which streams music, videos and photos to my Apple TV.  This works fine, and now I have just purchased a new digital camera.  The files for each photo are approximately 4MB each.
For some reason, the Apple TV is not picking up the new photo files of this size and so my question is whether there is a file size limit on streaming content?  I don't see why there should be any reason other than bandwidth that a file wouldn't stream to the TV ... my bandwidth is fine, and is approximately 45 mbs on wireless.
I would appreciate any thoughts from the community.
    Thanks.

It's a standard JPEG file.  It's bizarre - I copied that file alone to iPhoto and changed my Apple TV photo sharing preferences to point at the iPhoto application.  Worked fine.
Reverted the sharing settings back to the original folder location with all my 5,000 or so photos in and it also worked fine.  Seems that a simple 'reboot' of the settings has resolved the problem.

  • IPad LTE:  Do More?

There are certain things iOS won't let you do over the cellular network, such as downloading an app larger than 50Meg (I think that's the limit), or streaming an iTunes movie.  Those things you have to be plugged into a WiFi network to do.
In the old 3G days, that made sense:  It would be super-slow, and nobody would want to pay the expense you'd rack up for such an exercise in tedium, and you wouldn't have the bandwidth to stream a decent-sized/-quality movie anyway.
However, with LTE on my iPad3, I'm finding that the calculus is a bit different:  LTE is 2-3 times faster than my home WiFi, so in at least some cases, that's a service that I'd actually be willing to pay for!  However, iOS doesn't seem to even give you the *option* to do these things.  It just flat out says, "you must be connected to a WiFi network to do this," rather than, "are you *sure* you *really* want to do this over the cellular network?"
A few months ago, I increased my AT&T account capacity from the minimum to 3GB/month, but I'm finding that I can't do 3GB worth of activity over the cellular network, because iOS flat-out prevents me from doing anything that requires that much data movement.
So, my question:  Do any of you know any setting within iOS whereby it will allow me to have the *option* to do these things over LTE?
I noticed that there's an option to upgrade your AT&T account to allow Facetime over LTE.  That seems to suggest that the concern is not over how big a bill we'll rack up for ourselves, but how much AT&T bandwidth we'll burn.  For me, Facetime over LTE would so-so interesting, but if (just speculating) that option also allowed me to do these other things over LTE, that might be interesting.

So, I think I understand you to say that you get around these limits by having two iOS devices, each of which can become a WiFi hotspot for the other, thereby always having a WiFi connection available (assuming that you have both devices with you)?
If you configure one of your devices as a WiFi hotspot, I gather that that device alone does not get around these limitations?
Yes, if there is a 51MB update available for both devices I will activate the hotspot on the iPhone, connect the iPad via WiFi and then update the iPad. To do the iPhone you reverse the process. No, the hotspot alone does not provide a workaround.

  • High Bandwidth Option

I have read this stream regarding video.
    http://www.connectusers.com/forums/cucb
    … p?pid=1599
It is stated there that the "High Bandwidth" option can be
activated at the account level. Can find nothing about it anywhere.
    Questions:
What would it do for me if I could activate it?
Are there other ways to enhance the video experience in
addition to using the options under "Meeting?"
My connection is Time Warner Cable Business Class 5 down x
1.5 up. Is that enough for good quality video? Would DSL work
    better?
Knowing that there are many factors outside my control that
will impact video, are there things within my control that I could
    do to enhance it?
    Have Adobe hosted account.
    Thank you.

You will have to contact Adobe support. See link below. I
have not seen it on a hosted account - only licensed. But be aware
that meeting participants might have limited bandwidth. "High
Bandwidth" option don't have a kbps limit and streams at 30 fps for
both LAN and DSL set-up. To compare the "high quality images"
option streams at 250 kbps and 12 fps (LAN) and 125 kbps and 12 fps
(DSL). For most webinars and webmeetings the "High Bandwidth"
option will not provide better meetings - only increase latency.

  • HT4858 How do I limit a photo from being shared on photo stream (using as screen saver on Apple TV, but don't want family photos shared in presentation)

I am attempting to use my Apple TV and Ipad for a public presentation and want to show business pictures on the screen saver, but I don't want personal family pictures shown. Is there a way to limit these photos or set up an album for the screen saver on the presentation?

Put the photos that you wish to use for your presentation or screensaver into a photo stream shared album and then choose that album as your screensaver in your screensaver settings.

  • Is there a size limit for Photo Stream albums?

I have uploaded about 100 photos from my PC to Photo Stream. I would like to sort them into 3 albums on my iPhone, but it will only let me put a maximum of 7 photos in one of the albums and 4 in another. What am I doing wrong?

    You have max 20GB storage.
Upload anything you want up to that limit - be it one file or many.
The only limit after that is the speed of your internet connection since extremely large files can take hours to upload.

  • Limit on the number of live streams

    Hi,
I wanted to know if there is any limit on the number of live streams that a client can connect to?
For example, there are four live streams s1, s2, s3, s4 being published to FMS, can a flash client subscribe to all the four streams at the same time?
If yes, what is the maximum number of streams that a client can subscribe to and what are the trade-offs?
    Thank You for the help.

    The terminology becomes important here.
As a client application , i can have four video players on the same browser each subscribing to one of the streams and playing back. Each subscription here happens with a netStream object and this netstream can at one point of time subscribe to only one publishing stream. You can have multiple netstreams.

  • HT201317 Is it possible to retrieve photos once the 30 days is up or once the photo stream exceeds the 1000 photo limit?

Is it possible to retrieve photos once the 30 days is up or once the photo stream exceeds the 1000 photo limit?

No.  Photo stream photos are not backed up so there is no way to restore them.  Only camera roll photos are backed up.
