Limit on size of files?

I am trying to open an avi file in iMovie to edit scenes with a song to make a music video. The file is a movie, and it won't open. I'm new to Mac, and haven't had my Macbook Pro for even a week yet, so I would like to know... is it too big for iMovie? Any suggestions?

AVI's may need conversion to DV Stream for use in iMovie.
Google "MPEG Streamclip" (free).

  • Using log4j.xml to limit the size of a file

    Hello,
    I'm using JBoss. On startup it writes to boot.log and server.log. I'd like to limit the size that server.log can reach. At the minute I'm using the following code:
    <!-- A size based file rolling appender-->
       <appender name="FILE" class="org.jboss.logging.appender.RollingFileAppender">
         <errorHandler class="org.jboss.logging.util.OnlyOnceErrorHandler"/>
         <param name="File" value="${jboss.server.home.dir}/log/server.log"/>
         <param name="Append" value="false"/>
         <param name="MaxFileSize" value="3KB"/>
         <param name="MaxBackupIndex" value="1"/>
         <layout class="org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout">
           <param name="ConversionPattern" value="%d %-5p [%c] %m%n"/>
         </layout>
       </appender>However this causes far more information to be written to boot.log than usual and nothing to server.log.
    Can anyone help me in where I'm going wrong?
    Thanks very much,

  • How do I check/limit the size of a file

    I am logging data to a file periodically. Since the PC is at a remote site, and I download the data file via modem, I want to limit the size of the file by automatically starting a new file once the current file reaches a certain size (in kB) limit. This way I minimize download time as well as avoid downloading the same data over and over again if I keep the same filename.
    How can I do this? Thanks.

    There is a function on the File I/O>Advanced File Functions called File/Directory Info. The functions returns the file size in bytes.

  • How to limit the size of a log file.

    Hi,
    I am developing an application that creates a log file with all actions that take place. My problem is that this log file grows a lot because the application acts as a server that is up 24 hours a day. For that reason, I wanted to limit the size of the log file by deleting de older lines, how can implement is?
    Thanks.

    One way is to periodically (say every week) create a new file to store the actions and then, when the space taken up by all the files is too large, delete the oldest one.
    You can also have your application periodically (say the first time you write to the file on any calendar day) check the size of the file and, when it gets too big, copy all of the actions in the file after a given time (presumably there is an associated timestamp with each action) to a new file. Then delete the old file.

  • Is there a size limit to a MoH file?

    I am in the process of loading a MoH file using CCA. The customer's files are close to 40Meg!

    Hello,
    This is from the CME CLI Admin Guide: Configuring Music on Hold
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmemoh.html
    MOH file buffer size must be larger than the MOH file (size) that needs to be cached.
    You can configure a max file buffer size (per file) anywhere between 64 KB (8 seconds) to 10000 KB (approximately 20 minutes), Default moh-file-buffer size is 64 KB (8 seconds).
    Note A large buffer size is desirable to cache the largest MOH file and a better system performance.
    From that you can take that the maximum file size should be no larger than 10000 KB.
    I've found some other posts that suggest there is no file size and another that states it is recommended to have the file less than 500Kb. You are also bound by the size of the compact flash on the UC, which is 256Mb. Space on the compact flash is also utilized for the IOS, phone loads, locale, and support files.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3088035#3088035
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/282667
    Some of my colleagues have also suggested that the file be no larger than 1Mb.
    Another way around any size limits, is to use the external MoH port.
    Also, it sounds like you need to configure your audio file in the right format, because it would be a really long audio file at that size in the correct format
    A music file must be in stored in the router's flash memory. This file should be in G.711 format. The file can be in .au or .wav file format, but the file format must contain 8-bit 8-kHz data; for example, ITU-T A-law or mu-law data format.
    Here is another thread that shows how to convert the audio file to the correct format: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2112263
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Max size for file: Envelope.Index ?

    I'm curious whether the file "Envelope.Index" has a maximum size where Mail.app begins to lose control and begins to have problems. Similar to when you have issues with Outlook's ".pst" files and their 2-GB limit.

    I believe the 2G limit was a general file limit for Windows. It affected other applications other than Outlook. OS X doesn't have that limit that I now of.

  • Way to limit image size on uploaded images?

    Hello! Is there a way as administrator that you can limit image size for uploaded images? (Like in Contribute) Thanks so much

    Hello mikkiblaes,
    There isn't a way to limit the size of an image that is uploaded in InContext Editing, but there is a built-in file size limitation of 2MB. As the InContext Editing Browser help states:
    Once you've inserted the media element, you can resize the asset by dragging the resize handles around it, or by changing the width and height values in the Media toolbar. (Make sure the asset is selected when you do this.) To maintain width and height proportions when you resize, make sure the lock option is selected. (It's selected by default).
    This type of feature has been requested a couple of times:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/991229
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1994111
    And we would greatly appreciate your feedback on how you would envision this working.

  • Hi.  Is there a way to limit the size of the emails I receive?

    Hi.
    Is there a way to limit the size of the emails I receive?   Can I set my iPhone4s to only download headers or set a limit to the size?   I can't see anything in the settings.

    My Gmail downloads only small embedded pictures. For videos and other big files I have to tap to download and this is a temp download. So you don't have any problem I thing. You can Delete the account-restart-add account back from time to time.

  • Powershell - Get size of files listed in an array

    Hi there! I'm a newbie in powershell. As you can see, maybe my problem is kinda easy but i'm getting nuts over here.
    I got this object, that is an array
    PS C:\scripts\CleanScan> $gotFiles.GetType()
    IsPublic IsSerial Name                                     BaseType
    True     True     Object[]                                 System.Array
    It came from an query gci
    $gotFiles = Get-ChildItem -Path $path -Recurse | Where-Object {$_.CreationTime -lt $limit}
    It gets the files in a directory older than $limit
    Then my problem: Need to get the size in KB of each item in the array.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    GetType has it's value, but not for what you're trying to learn.  You want to use Get-Member to show the methods and properties you can use with your $GotFiles object, which actually consists of System.IO objects:
    $gotfiles | Get-Member
       TypeName: System.IO.DirectoryInfo
    Name                      MemberType     Definition
    Mode                      CodeProperty   System.String Mode{get=Mode;}
    Create                    Method         System.Void Create(System.Security.AccessControl.DirectorySecurity director...
    CreateObjRef              Method         System.Runtime.Remoting.ObjRef CreateObjRef(type requestedType)
    <lots of other stuff here>
    Parent                    Property       System.IO.DirectoryInfo Parent {get;}
    Root                      Property       System.IO.DirectoryInfo Root {get;}
    BaseName                  ScriptProperty System.Object BaseName {get=$this.Name;}
       TypeName: System.IO.FileInfo
    Name                      MemberType     Definition
    Mode                      CodeProperty   System.String Mode{get=Mode;}
    AppendText                Method         System.IO.StreamWriter AppendText()
    <still more stuff here>
    Length                    Property       System.Int64 Length {get;}
    Name                      Property       System.String Name {get;}
    The first section applies to directories because there's a directory in my path, so don't worry about that for now.  The second section has a Length property that might help:
    PS C:\temp\scratch> $gotfiles.length
    7
    Nope, that's just the number of files
    PS C:\temp\scratch> $gotfiles
        Directory: C:\temp\scratch
    Mode                LastWriteTime     Length Name
    d----         3/25/2014   3:13 PM            NTFSSecurity
    -a---         3/24/2014  12:27 PM         94 data.csv
    -a---         3/26/2014  12:48 PM         51 grp - Copy.csv
    -a---         3/27/2014   8:39 AM        104 grp.csv
    -a---         3/27/2014   8:28 AM         60 grp2.csv
    -a---         3/27/2014   8:34 AM        104 grp3.csv
    -a---         3/25/2014  12:23 PM      37003 obs.xml
    You can see the Length property right there in the output, in bytes
    PS C:\temp\scratch> $gotfiles | select name, length
    Name                                                        length
    NTFSSecurity
    data.csv                                                    94
    grp - Copy.csv                                              51
    grp.csv                                                     104
    grp2.csv                                                    60
    grp3.csv                                                    104
    obs.xml                                                     37003
    Then to make a report about this
    $gotfiles | select fullname, length | export-csv c:\filesizereport.csv -NoType
    Your code might look like this just to get the output:
    $gotFiles = Get-ChildItem -Path $path -Recurse | Where-Object {$_.CreationTime -lt $limit} | select fullname, @{name="Size in KB";expression={$_.length / 1024}}
    That last bit converts to KB.
    I hope this post has helped!

  • Please HELP with ORA-19809: limit exceeded for recovery files

    Hi Gurus,
    I am not a DBA but a developer. Today my Oracle database 11g on my PC will not open and I am getting the errors,
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
    ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
    I checked my alert logs and found these errors,
    Errors in file c:\oracle\diag\rdbms\orcl\orcl\trace\orcl_ora_2144.trc:
    ORA-19809: limit exceeded for recovery files
    ORA-19804: cannot reclaim 41072128 bytes disk space from 4039114752 limit
    ARCH: Error 19809 Creating archive log file to 'C:\ORACLE\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\ORCL\ARCHIVELOG\2011_04_08\O1_MF_1_120_%U_.ARC'

    So I started searching for answers on this forum and found a suggestion using RMAN to delete all the archive logs,
    RMAN> connect target sys/*******
    RMAN> delete archivelog all;
    RMAN>crosscheck archivelog all;
    But I get these errors in RMAN,
    using target database control file instead of recovery catalog

    So, please help me: How do I fix this problem since I can't start the instance?
    Thank you.
    Ben

    You need to increase the FRA by changing the parameter DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE. Create a parameter file while being connected as Sys user and issue,
    sql>create pfile from spfile;It would create the pfile in the Oracle_Home/database folder. Edit that file and increase the parameter to a larger size-like double of it's current value. Save the file and issue,
    sql>startup pfile=<your location of the file>HTH

  • How to limit the size of bounced messages

    Hi,
    how can i limit the size of bounced messages?
    In most cases, we have users which accounts are over quota, the mail bounces and is returned.
    How can i limit the size of the returned message to a maximum size of 1MB?
    We're using
    iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 HotFix 2.02 (built Oct 21 2004)
    libimta.so 5.2 HotFix 2.02 (built 13:42:55, Oct 21 2004)
    thx,
    ghfg

    Ah. found it. It is indeed in 5.2
    http://docs.sun.com/source/816-6009-10/mta.htm#24585
    look down the page, and find:
    CONTENT_RETURN_BLOCK_LIMIT
    this when put in the option.dat file will limit your response to the
    CONTENT_RETURN_BLOCK_LIMIT=
    number of 1k blocks.

  • ORA-19809: limit exceeded for recovery files and flash_recovery_area

    Hi.
    I am getting the below errors (at the end) when trying to backup the database using RMAN.
    The directory structure is
    E:\oracle\TEST
    E:\oracle\TEST\flash_recovery_area
    E:\oracle\TEST\flash_recovery_area\arch --> HAS ARCHIVE FILES
    E:\oracle\TEST\flash_recovery_area\TEST
    E:\oracle\ATEST\flash_recovery_area\TEST\BACKUPSET --> RMAN backup sets
    E:\oracle\TEST\flash_recovery_area\TEST\ONLINELOG --> This is empty.
    D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\ is oracle home
    It has:
    D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\admin
    D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db1
    D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata
    D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\test has data files.
    1) I created this database using OUI and DBCA and I have a feeling that this structure is somewhat convoluted. Could you let me know if this needs to be changed?
    2) Secondly, the RMAN error. The entire size of E:\oracle\TEST\flash_recovery_area is now only 1.74 GB yet I am getting this error.
    I deleted old archive logs from E:\oracle\TEST\flash_recovery_area\arch . Currently it has only arch logs for seven days. Next I issued delete expired archivelog all command. Right now crosscheck archivelog all finds only 40 archive logs..
    and increased db_recovery_file_dest_size to 10GB. alter system set db_recovery_file_dest_size=10000M scope=both;
    select name
    , floor(space_limit / 1024 / 1024) "Size MB"
    , ceil(space_used / 1024 / 1024) "Used MB"
    from v$recovery_file_dest
    order by name
    This query is returning the use space as 6GB. However physically only 1.74 GB is currenly used. Please let me know the way forward. Appreciate in advance.
