Limitation of SBO

Hi,
Can any one tell what are the limitations of SBO interims of holding Master data Like BP and Item Master.
What is the maximum number if user can use SBO for a company (i guess it is 250 user)
How flexible in term of using the standard reporting tools with in SBO.
Please let me now if I can find this information available at any website.
Or If any documentation is available please could you forward me my mail ID [email protected]
Regards
Murali

Hi Murali,
There's a tool for B1 partners in the B1 PartnerEdge portal where you can enter specific data for a prospect/lead - and in turn will be given a recommendation whether B1 would be the right product for the prospect/lead or whether you should discuss the case with an SAP representative.
Please go to:
http://service.sap.com/smb/qualificationtool/
I am not aware of a limitation for user records, but 250 active users might be too much when all users are actively working at the same time (i.e. adding and updating data like A/R A/P documents).

Frank

  • User-defined tables, user-defined fields, and records limitation

    Hi,
I would like to use UDT and UDF as my add on table. I doubt there is the limitation (performance issue) using these. Can someone tell me what is the max UDT, UDF, and records can application support?

    ERIC

    Hi Eric,
There is no limitation on SBO as far as I know. There is a limitation on SQL though. The limitation (on SQL 2000 that is, not sure if it's the same on SQL 2005) you can only add fields in a table that adds up to 8060 characters. The amount of records in that table will depend on the amount of hard disk space you have available.
    Hope it helps,

  • Please Recommend SBO compatible ActiveX Controls

    Hi all,
I'm not very pleased with the choice of controls currently available in the SDK...
Can someone recommend any ActiveX controls you use or have used before? You can also report controls that you don't recommend, and why.
Please state if it's a Free or Paid control, and provide a link site/control.

    Hello Vitor,
Maybe you must a specify your question. Almoust everybody on the forum wants to help you, but you must ask the right (not an open) question....
I usally use the ordinary (VB/microsoft) activex controls. If you want to use the listtree you must install sp3 from Windows xp because SP2 don't works with the listtree and sbo.

  • Regarding chossing the Business Partner Master Data

    Dear All,
I have one query regarding chossing the Business Partner Master Data. Let take an exapmle
suppose 2 sales person are making the sales Quotation and every sales Persons only making the quotaion
for the specified leads or customers.Suppose Sales Person 'A' makes the quotaiton for 5 Leads and Sales
Person 'B' makes the quotation for the different 5 persons. Now i want when  i Login into sales person 'A' Login
and choose the Business Partner by pressing tab in sales quotation window , then that Sales Person 'A' can
see only the Specified BP list which are belonging to his region.
    Thanks All.

The access to Item Master and BP Master cannot be restricted to Users through Authorization. This is a known limitation of SBO.
You can try this by using SDK.
You can use Data Ownership Authorization, which means the marketing documents created by Sales Person 'A' will not be viewed by Sales Person 'B'
    Refer this thread for details

  • Is there a limitation on the Size of Attachments to SBO Documents?

    Hi, Experts.
Is there a size limitation to the Attachments that you can Attatch to an SBO Document like an Activity?
Does this depend only on the Hardware Specifications, or does SBO also limit the Size of Attachments?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Marli

    Hi Marli,
There is no limitation on the size of attachment. Otherwise also, SBO stores only the name of the file and copies it to the attachment folder. Since, in SBO, only the name is stored, therefore the size of the attachment does not matter.

  • SBO 8.8 Can two LImited Licenses (Eg.. Financials + CRM) be assigned to one

I have confirmed by testing that it is possible to assign two different limited licenses to one user.
In a limited test (COA Edit + Quotations Entry) I have established that the combined functionality is available.
Question - is this supported by SAP?
I realise that it might make more sense to upgrade the two licenses to one Pro.
    Rgds
    Tony Maguire

    Hi,
you can read license guide pdf file to know more detail about all licenses type.
you can also read license comparison chart to know the detail authorization of license.
As long as it can work,  you can use it. SAP support license type authorization.

  • SBO Client and Windows Vista in workgroup Licence error

    Hi!
My customer runs B1 2004C. Network structure is workgroup. Client and server are in the same workgroup. XP users connect successfully, but new Vista user gets the licence error: "-2147024891 Access denied". DCOM and other customizations on the licence server are done like in SAP Notes. It doesn't help.
I know Vista is not officially supported by 2004C B1, but i have several Vista users running SBO fine in domain structure. I think the trouble is in the workgroup.
    Thanks a lot!
    David.

    Hi David,
some of the SAP Notes addressing DCOM access denied problem of 2004 releases.
    <b>Note 833798 - After Upgrade W2003 to SP1: Access denied -2147024891</b>
    Symptom
After upgrading Windows 2003 server to SP1 you get the access denied error -2147024891
    Other terms
    license server, error -2147024891
    Reason and Prerequisites
Upgrade to Windows 2003 server changes security settings
    Solution
The problem is caused by SP1 for W2003 Server. You have to change the
default configuration of the DCOM to enable clients to access license
    server again:
    1. go to "Start/run", type in "Dcomcnfg" and the Dcom configuration will open
    2. expand "Component Services"
    3. right click on "my computer", open "Properties"
    4. go to tab "Com Security"
    5. in "launch and activation permission" go to "edit limits" this
    button is new since SP1
    6. tick the boxes "remote launch" and "remote activation" for user
    "everyone"
After that the clients can access the license server again, if all nescessary rights are give in the DCOM as well. When the changes described above did not take effect, please check this additionally:
    1. go to "Start/run", type in "Dcomcnfg" and the Dcom configuration will open
    2. expand "Component Services"
    3. Go to "SBOLicense", open "Properties" by right-clicking the mouse
    4. On register tab "Security" customize all permissions. Add all nescessary User accounts there. If you add i.e. User Group "Everyone" there, you will not have access right problems any longer, as every user belongs by default to this group.
If that change does not take effect immediately, reboot the server.
This note is permanently updated. If you have any comments or proposals tho improve it, please contact the SAP Business One Hotline and let us know.
    <b>Note 824976 - error -2147024891, access denied to license server</b>
    Symptom
error -2147024891 when trying to connect with B1 client to license server on another computer The License mechanism needs a properly set up license server which is available over the network via DCOM interface to client computers. The necessary windows user rights must be assigned to client and server.
    Other terms
Access denied, SAP Business One, License server
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Functionality description
    Solution
    1. Is the license server up and running?
The B1 client on the license server computer should be started and logged into to ensure that there are no problems withs the license server itself. The B1 Server tools should be opened and the settings of the License Manager should be checked so that it is possible to connect by pressing the Connect button.
    2. Is the network connection between client and license server working?
The server should be pinged via its IP-address for a response. Any firewalls should be disabled between client and license server for troubleshooting reasons as they can effectively block data packets which are needed for license mechanism. If a VPN is used between client and license server all ports should be available.
    3. Are necessary windows user rights in the domain given?
We highly recommend to use B1 in a windows domain, as this is the only way to manage user accounts effectively. Domain user accounts have to be configured on the domain controller computer only. For troubleshooting reasons log in at the client with the windows domain administrator account, that should prevent the user from being blocked due to a lack windows user rights. According to our recommendations the users should be Power Users on the local computer.
    4. Are necessary windows user rights in a workgroup given?
If the user is in a windows workgroup, the same user account should be configured with the same password on the license server and on each client computer as well. For troubleshooting reasons a local admin account should be configured on each of these computers. As account information is stored locally on each computer, username and password must be exactly the same on each of the machines. Login with this local administrator account. According to our recommendations the users should be Power Users on the local computer.
    5. Is DCOM installed and configured correctly?
On the license server DCOM interface should to be installed and configured correctly. It is located under Control panel\administrative tools\ component service. Expand and in My Computer you will find DCOM Config\SBO License. Open its Properties and check configurations in Security tab. Add user accounts there, if needed.
DCOM should be enabled on the Client machines and on the server(s). In the Component Services expand to My Computer and right click to open the Properties for My Computer. Go to the Default Properties tab and make sure that 'Enable Distributed COM on this computer' is ticked. If these settings are modifed a restart of the computer is needed for the changes to take effect.

  • How to implement DB user on SBO 8.8 and later version?

    Hello Experts,
For old SBO version (2005, 2007), in order to let users can see limited companies, I can create some DB users in MSSQL, and use these DB users account for different SBO clients.
However, from SBO 8.8, it is not allowed to key in SQL connection settings in SBO client. All SQL connection settings are kept in License Manager, and therefore any SBO client can see every companies from login window.
Is it possible to set SBO client only show limited companies on version 8.8 and later?
    Thanks in advance.

You need to create user groups in your domain, then set your license server to use trusted connections. The user groups are then assigned to the required databases only.

  • SBO is disappointing

    Hi all,
Are we the only company worldwide that is unhappy with SBO? R3 must be a great system, but SBO certainly isn't.
We started using SBO on Sept 2005, using version 2004. The app continuously crashed, on any computer, without any add-ons on it. We also had a very funny problem: SBO wasn't unable to know that Feb didn't have a 30th day, making it self give an error message because of its own mistake. It wasn't able either to calculate installments properly. The list was huge. It was a struggle to have SAP to admit the system was wrong, just to admit, because not too many actions have been taken to improve it.
We have just updated to version 2005+patch1 and our worse 3 problems have gone, but we have new problems that were not in 2004 and some of them are still there.
I used to beleive that SAP was a strong and reliable company but I'm not any longer. There's software that you can buy for $100 that doesn't have the silliest bugs SBO does. Is it so difficult for a company like SAP to get a team of 5 people and have them for a month working on the software.
Of course SBO has great tools, but they're hidden by all the stupid bugs it has. The strangest thing is that I found no one on the internet complaining about SBO.
I just hope to receive some feedback from real users and hopefully from SAP headquarters.

    Hi,
Of course you are not the only one. Have a look here (Registration needed):
    http://www.sap.com/community/int/forums/ShowPost.epx?PostID=342594&SearchText=DISAPPOINTED#349755
Sap Business One is good for selling (some good functionallity, well explained, while the CONS are not mentioned, and the customer supposes they are included), but not for finishing the installation.
This is, IMHO, becouse different sides:
    - SAP is a BIG company, and as it is big, the error reporting process is slow, very slow. That´s why sometimes we even don´t report the bugs, becouse it is taking too much time from us, to explain the problem to many different people, and convincing them that it is a bug. And a lot of times they even don´t admit it is a bug. They call it functionallity.
    - SBO is a worldwide software, with lots of localizations, and different functionallity plus the SDK support of this functionallity. So, fixing one simple bug could be related with so many aspects. And as it is a worldwide software, multiply the bug you found with the number of partners, and you will get lots of work hours.
    - SAP is reinventing the wheel in some aspects of SBO. For example reports. First approach was document editing, which wasn´t a good designer and with a limited functionallity. Seccond one was ALD, which I personally didn´t like, and its discontinued nowadays. Then XL Reporter appear, which looks like a good tool, but not for every SBO user. Now looks like improving document editting is the future bet. We will se. We have developed a solution based on cristal reports  some time ago, as many other partners has. When so many partners are going this way, something is not going OK.
    - The development process is not productive. Much time to get not so much functionality.
But not everything is bad. We started in 6.5 version, and SBO is improving. Improving in functionallity, improving SDK avaiability, and improving stability. There is still much work to do, but we are on the way. This product is a future bet. The question is, will you be there?

    Ibai Peñ

  • SMS in SBO

Since only few regions in the world have the SMS option enabled in SBO, it's good to know that there's a SMS addon which can be installed on any SBO installation: [SMS Master|http://www.on-click.co.il/products/SMSMaster/]

    Hi,
SMS may only work with limited localization such as Israel. Unfortunately, there is no support with most of other localization.

  • MessageBox with Indirect Acces license on SBO 8.8

    Hello,
We are experiencing problems with the Indirect Access license on SBO 8.8.
We can't use the Application MessageBox in our AddOn.
The messagebox displays the message, but when the user aswers by clicking on the buttons, the system returns the error :
    HRESULT : 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT)
This error doesn't occur with a SAP Professional User license.
The error occurs on this type of code :
    oApplication.MessageBox('Question', 1,'Bouton1Text', 'Bouton2Text') = 1 Then
Because of that, we can't use an Indirect Access license on our Add On...
Do you know if it's a correct behavior ?
    Can we do otherwise ?
    Thank you.

    Bruno,
From the SAP Business One 8.8 License Guide ...
"Indirect Access u2013 can access any SSP solutions (developed with the SAP Business One DI-API)
only. Indirect access license is bundled with the DI server. Users who have an indirect access license
can access limited number of application forms, but cannot perform any functions with SAP Business
One application. Users who have an indirect access license can access an unlimited number of SSP
    solutions."
    An Add-on Access User ...
"SAP Business One Add-on-Access User - can access the SAP Business One software through a
third-party product approved by SAP. This user applies as follows:
If a customer uses a solution (add-on/extension) developed by a SAP Business One VAR with the
SAP Business One Software Development Kit (SDK), using the Application Programming Interface/s
(API/s), a SAP Business One Add-on-Access User must be licensed.
If customers run several partner solutions, they need to license one SAP Business One Add-on-
Access User for each running solution.
The SAP Business One Add-on-Access User enables customers to use only Partnersu2019 Solutions
without having to license an SAP Business One Professional User. The SAP Business One Add-on-
Access User includes limited functionality of SAP Business One that is part of the integration between
the Partner Solution and SAP Business One."
    Hope that helps,
    Eddy

  • Copy & Paste on SBO browser widgets

    Hi
I would like to kindly ask you to enable local clipboard operations on browser widgets in SBO especially copy and paste.
I do not fully understand the mechanism so imagine that running browser widget IE process is run. Is there possibility to set up other browser and have some browser settings (Chrome or Opera)?

  • 2007 B  Upgrade  - Cannot connect to SBO-COMMON db

    Hi,
Trying to upgrade SBO 2005B PL43 to  SBO 2007B PL07.
    The SBO -Common database exist
The SQL Express <TCP and Pipes> enable
In the SBO Common Upgrade, when I enter the correct server name, user, password and press OK, i get the follow error:
"The Connection to the specified server has failed"
"Check your password and the that server exist on the network"
    Any idea?
    Tanks

    Hi Marcio
In 2007 you must specify the server type as SQL or SQL_2005 (Type 1 or Type 4). There are also limitations in 2007 with respect to SQL Express. The best is to check the supported databases on the portal or check with your local SAP office.
    Kind regards
