Limitation on Alias length

Hi,
Is there a limitation on the length of Alias in Essbase 9.3 ?
Thanks

I think the limit is still 80 characters on an alias.

    Essbase 9.3.1 + OBI 10.1.3.4
    Essbase has limitation of 80 chr for every member or alias name.
    1 dimension in essbase is to have members with length>>80 chr(up to 250)
    Can i use codes in this dimension in essabase when calculating then anyhow federate in repository cube and relational table with 2 columns(code, fullname) and show in answers relational fullname instead of cube code?
    Thanx))

    Hi,
    I do not think so, as evaluate would be your best option, but that would only 'point at' the underlying data source (essbase), NOT the rdbms in question.
    You cannot even do the standard cross-database hybridisation with essbase / rdbms - unless anyone knows otherwise??
    You could possibly export your data from essbase to your rdbms using the interface tables and then correct any data inadequacies in the rdbms table - but this is only okay if you are happy with it not being real-time.
    Sorry to ask / hi-jack your thread, but I have been trying to crack using essbase in 10.1.3.4 for some time and have succeed apart from I am struggling on creating the Aliases that do not import into the repository on the initial import, would you mind sharing the 'trick' to getting ALIAS values into the reposity please?
    Best regards,
    Robert.

    Hi,
    Yes that's right I do want it both ways!
    But seriously, you can have the wallet set-up and then connect to a local database by specifying a "<username>/<password>", but if you try just "/" it does not work.
    So either the wallet manager should recognise this and pass the authentication on or there has to be a way of adding an entry to the wallet for ops$ type authentication for the local database.
    I just wanted to check that I am not missing something obvious, so if I can't have what I want now, I'll pass this on as an enhancement request to Oracle.

    Are ther and limits on the with of a report when exporting a report to a text file. I'm in the process of creating a file for upload into the banking system. The file is exported as a text file and contains 1464 characters in width. I am able to display all the fields in my report preview, but when I export the file to .txt it seems to cut it off at character 206.
    Any suggestions

    Hi Kevin,
    Check to see if you can export to csv and get the length you need. I'm thinking about writng a program to convert csv to fixed length ascii records.
    Ooops, looks like it might be 256 for csv. But... if a program was written to look at the csv field count to specify the fields in an ascii record then you could use csv to a mulitline detail report and the record could be built that way. I'm thinking of writing it for myself, but why not share.

  • Limiting Field Input length

    Dear Experts
    I have a problem on basic set up of the system.
    My question is: If the maximum length of a field is 20 charcters, can I limit users to enter a maximum of 10 characters in stead of 20? If so, how to do it ? I would like the solution that could be applied to all fields that require user input

    Hi
    Use this code : I have written for the Item Name same way u can use for Card Name by changing the code little bit:
    Declare @ItemName nvarchar(100)
    if @object_type = '4' And (@transaction_type ='A' Or @transaction_type = 'U')
    Begin
          Select @ItemName = ItemName from OITM Where ItemCode = @list_of_cols_val_tab_del
          if LEN(@ItemName) > 10
               Begin
               Set @error = -1
               Set @error_message = 'Item Name can not be more than 10 characters'
               End

  • Character Length in the Alias Naming

    Is there a limitation to character length in the alias of a member name?

    Thanks, Was running into issues and thought this to be the case, just did not know the exact limitation!

  • Are the tracks limited to a certain length? If not, how do I increase the length of a track?

    I have found that in the new version of GarageBand my tacks have been limited to some length, which i never had a problem with in the older GarageBand. What is the deal with this?

    What kind of limit are you seeing? Does the bounced song appear clipped? Can't you add measures at all?
    The only hard limit I know of is the size limit to the bouce file. You cannot share songs from GarageBand that exceed the limit for wav or aiff files while bouncing, even if you are exporting in mp3 format.

  • Web Service URL length limits, LV2013 vs LV2012

    (* CROSS POST: http://lavag.org/topic/18435-web-service-url-length-limits-lv2013-vs-lv2012/ *)
    (* Please reply in this forum.  I have marked the other thread to put replies here. *)
    Has anyone noticed a reduction to the limit on URL length for Web Services between LV versions 2012 and 2013?
    Under LV2012, a RESTful web service appears to accept URL with lengths at least as long as 4096 characters.  With LV2013, the max URL length appears to be 511 characters for both RESTful and Project Item web services. Unfortunately for me the project I just converted trips over this issue. My goal with posting this query to here is to improve my understanding of this limitation before I decide how best to modify my code.  Certainly using POST rather than GET with a long URL is an option, but again, I'm looking to understand the change in limitation before I choose a solution.
    To illustrate I have attached three mostly identical projects which demonstrate the issue.  In each case the project contains a webservice consisting of a single VI, "ComputeLength", which takes a String as an input parameter and which outputs the length of the string.  The three projects are as follows.
    1. LV2012 RESTful web service.
    2. LV2013 RESTful web service.
    3. LV2013 Project item web service.
    The web service contains a single VI.  For the RESTful examples, the web service is started by selecting Deploy from the Build specification right click menu.  For the Project Item example, the web service is started by selecting Start from the MyComputer/WebService right click menu. The use of this example is demonstrated with the following URL:
    (note that the port is 8080 for the two RESTful examples and is 8001 for the Project item web service if used in Debug mode, which is the default for the above instruction.)
    http://localhost:8080/webservice/computelength?string=1234567890
    And the output looks like this.
    <Response>
    <Terminal>
    <Name>StringLength</Name>
    <Value>10</Value>
    </Terminal>
    </Response>
    To see the issue, extend the string parameter such that the URL contains more than 511 characters beyond the port number.  For example something like this, http://localhost:8080/webservice/computelength?string=1234567890123456789012345678901234567890....(keep repeating)
    For the LV2012 example the string parameter may be at least as long as 4000 characters, which I've demonstrated using Chrome as my browser.  For both of the LV2013 examples the URL is limited to 511 characters after the localhost and the port number.
    Anyone know whether this is a bug or this is an intentional design change?  How about whether the URL length limit is configurable?
    I am also consulting NI tech support and will report back their response.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks,
      Martin

    Solution found.  Apparently starting in LV 2013, there is a default limit of 512 to the URL length.  The default limit may be overridden as described below.
    Martin
    This is Brian in Applications Engineering from National Instruments. I am following up regarding the 511 character limit in your Web Service HTTP request following the port number. After some research I've figured out that the issue is related to a default web server setting called "LimitUri," which limits the maximum length of a URL. The default setting is 512 characters which is why we are seeing this issue.
    There are multiple ways of changing the URL length limit depending on how you are using your web service. If you are publishing the web service using the Application Web Server then modify "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\NI WebServer\NIWebAppServer.conf" and add "LimitUri 4096" to the end of the file without the quotes.
    If you are running the Debug Web Server by just clicking start on the web service then modify "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013\resource\webserver\niwsdebugserver.conf" and add "LimitUri 4096" to the end of the file without the quotes.

  • Chart label length limitation?

    Is there a limitation on the length of x- or y-axis label for a SVG chart? The chart on my page has x-axis
    label truncated to 15 characters long.

    Me too, in my SVG pie chart, the last row legend text was truncated. just like:
    deal size > 70k - 92.5%
    deal size
    I actually expected in the second row, deal size <= 70k ...
    What happened? and how can I control this, moreover the legend was displayed in the left upper of the region and cost a lot width in my screen. Can I change to display the legend in other place, eg. the bottom of the region or the chart?
    Anyone can help us about this?

  • Issue with length of file paths - Windows & C++ plugin

    Hello,
    I've got an issue that just popped up on my OCR plugin I've been working on that I suspect is related to the length of the filepath.
    I'm getting the following error that is being caught and logged when trying to open a file (filename changed for security purposes):
    Error Opening File: D:\aVeryLongFilePath.pdf
    Exception info: This file cannot be found.
    The entire string, including the D:\ part, is 266 characters long. I cut down the length of part of the path one by one and it was able to open and OCR the document when the length was 259 characters.
    I know there's a MAX_PATH variable in Windows and/or there's some kind of limitation for file length. Note that I can open the file in Acrobat using File->Open and run OCR on it individually using the built-in Recognize Text function, but if I try to Recognize Text for Multiple files and choose "Add Folders", the file in question doesn't show up in the list of files to be batch OCR'd (even though it is there). Interestingly, choosing "Add Files" from the Recognize Text->In Multiple Files does work. So Acrobat itself has at least some issues opening the file using some of it's features.
    Here's how I'm opening the document:
         string pn;               // assume this is initialized, I'm just putting this here to demonstrate what type it is
         pathName = pn;
         ASAtom pathType = ASAtomFromString("Cstring");
         asPathName = ASFileSysCreatePathName(ASGetDefaultFileSys(), pathType, pn.c_str(), NULL);
         pdDoc = PDDocOpen(asPathName, ASGetDefaultFileSys(), NULL, true);
    Is there a way around this problem?
    Thanks.

    Yes, you are hitting the MAX_PATH on certain versions of Windows.   The only workaround would be to see that the file is "a very long path" and then break up the pathname construction into multiple pieces (perhaps the containing directory and then the file itself).  The other option is don't use Cstring to construct, use the Unicode variant.

  • Lax validation errors on schema import ('version' exceeds maximum length)

    I have a schema as per below. I'm trying to import it into Oracle 10.2.0.2.0. However, I'm getting the following lax validation error:
    Error loading ora_business_rule.xsd:ORA-30951: Element or attribute at Xpath /schema[@version] exceeds maximum length
    I can fix it by modifying the attribute and shortening it but I'd like to know why it's occuring. Insofar as I can tell there is no imposed limit on the size of schema attributes according to the W3C standard. Which then makes me wonder: does Oracle impose limits on the length of all attributes or is this specific to 'version' ? If there is a limit, what is the upper bound (in bytes) ? Where is this documented?
    Cheers,
    Daniel

    Apparently there is a limitation on the length of x- or y-axis labels for a SVG chart.
    Does anybody know how to display axis labels that are larger than 15 characters? Is there something that you can do with the CSS to increase the limit?

    Hope that helps.

    I need to know if there is any sql string limitation in jdbc. I am trying to send a sql that is 250 lines long through preparedStatement, after execute statement, the thread hangs for sometime and it times out with no results. If I copy the same sql in sqlplus/toad it executes in 1 second.
    My old sql string was 200 lines and was working properly, i am guessing there may be some limitation to sql length in jdbc?
    Please let me know your view
    Thanks

    You can ask for it with getMaxStatementLength () on DatabaseMetaData.
    It returns 65535 on a Oracle 8.1.7.4.1 database and 9.2.0.4.0 database with the 10.2.0.1.0 jdbc driver
