Limitations on presentation using iPad

I would like to use iPad for doing the presentation occasionally during my business trips. I read some articles here and found there is a major issue that the iPad does not mirror the iPad screen to the projector by default (output the iPad screen to the projector and leave the iPad screen blank (black screen) and it only works depending on which software that provides the mirror function is used. It is a quite different behavior with all the laptop computer users as the laptops do it by itself. iPad appears not to do so and let the application software to do so. I would like to know if the below application softwares support the mirror feature (presentation material on both iPad and projector at the same time) to the projector via the dock connector to VGA adapter.

The latest version of Keynote for the iPad now supports notes and it has a presenter screen, so that's no longer an issue.

You would need to find an app that lets you remotely access the Mac (e.g. Logmein). You would need to be aware of how much the network can handle.

Using iPad

I recently bought an iPad and keynote. I am a lecturer and want to use these to present my PowerPoint presentations using a projector via a VGA cable. My problem is the projected image seems to be 3/4 of the actual slide, ie a portion of the slide on the right side does not appear on the projector. Hence what I see on my iPad isn't being displayed in full by the projector. Is there some setting that I should apply?

I have a proper mailing list created as the manual says. It's a small group of contacts that exist in the address book. I do not type them as CC I just write "clients" and before I finish the word the name of the list appears.
How can I stop Avast from scanning out going mail? It's the free version and I haven't found a real solution. I also tried to totally turn off the "mail shield" but I kept facing the same issues. However, I just turned it off and tried to send the mail, I didn't restart windows or thunderbird
The idea with ipage server was fantastic! It would never come to my mind!!! As far as I see, the limit is 250 mails per hour. I doubt if I have ever reached the 50% of it. I also don't reach the bandwith limits... Besides that, if I had exceeded the limit I would get multi responses that "mail was not delivered".
I want to thank you both for your excellent help so far. I'm sad to say that I still haven't solved the issue. When I made smaller lists, with the same addresses chosen from the address book I could send the messages, having a short delay. I would blame Avast but I tried the same on another laptop with my favourite NOD32 and had the same problem.
What else should I check? Should I focus on Avast?

I bought an iPad so I could organize all my digital photos, create photo albums by trip or event and order hard copy books (similar to what u can do using iPhoto). Is the third part possible using iPad? Does software available through snapfish or my publisher work on the iPad? Will iPhoto be available in the future to iPad users? I have the exact same question. Many of my family members are elderly and would enjoy a printed photobook. My Ipad seems like the perfect place to create this sort of album and then have it printed. However, the only app I have found is the HP Photobook Lite app. The app is very limited, limited backgrounds, frames, shadows etc. Also, the only option for printing is magcloud which prints a soft copy magazine type photobook.
Have you found anything that will offer the ability to create a beautiful photobook quickly? I also saw an app called Bookfactory, however, it is Swiss so I think it will not be in English and I do not know if they will ship to the US or the cost. Audio visual presentation using photo's.

I am looking for software for the iMac to make an audio visual presentation using photo's. I want to be able to show photo's at different length to match the music.

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:

Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!

Any comments on using Ipad 3G in israel. What kind of power adapter do I need? Does the Ipad work on 220V or do I need a step down transformer? Can I get a sim card for the Ipad in Israel?

The power adapter/brick that came with your iPad can be used in Israel. It requires a plug adapter. There are three kinds. (1) Purchase the Apple World Travel Kit and you will have replacement plug ends for all Apple bricks for all world-wide power sockets. (2) Much cheaper is to purchase a physical adapter plug that accepts USA spade-lug plugs and has Euro-style two-round-prong tines. This costs $5 or less in Israel, and $10-$15 in the USA at international airports.
An AT&T 3G data user can purchase a graduated fixed-price bundled package of 3G data usage that will allow you to roam and use the iPad everywhere in Israel on 3G cellular networks. Purchase the package from the iPad Settings screens before you leave the USA. Or, if already overseas, then connect to an Internet WiFi network and you can access the same Setting screen to purchase the AT&T package. It is simple, and requires no SIM card swap, but can be expensive for large blocks of data - if, for example, using Google Maps with satellite view extensively.
Alternatively, you can purchase a data-only plan for the iPad from Israeli cellular carriers, both Orange and Cellcom. They have different bundles, with different prices and limits. Both provide a new micro-SIM to be swapped into your iPad.

You have the MacBookPro6,2, the Edsel of Macs. You might be able to resolve the problem by reinstalling OS X. Try that first, if you haven't done so already. Otherwise, you may be covered by this program:

If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
You may be able to stop the panics by disabling automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saver preference pane, but that's not a solution.
Most likely, the logic board will be replaced. Sometimes the replacement is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility.

Used iPad, new owner, can't clear it & log in my ID.

The answer I found so far in the archives pointed me to the General/Reset/Erase All content and Settings buttons, but a Passcode screen popped up and I had to stop after 2 failed guesses. Former owner, who is 90, had it set up by her daughter. Her daughter set it up with her own account ID, etc. I emailed her to ask for the Passcode, but if she doesn't know it, I don't know how to proceed. I signed into iCloud, but when I go to open that, it asks for my password only, with her iCloud ID already input and no way to input mine instead.
I was able to change the iCloud sign in to my own account, so I don't want to accidentally erase that.

If the original owner cannot remember the password and cannot erase the device for you, then it is now and always be useless. There is nothing that you can do now to make it yours if she can't remember the passcode to erase it.

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

How do i use IPAD wifi when travelling

I have been extensively using IPAD 2 . I recently decided to upgrade mine to IPAD3 . I bought one at the grove apple store and before that asked the salesman the difference in the IPAD 2 AND IPAD 3. He said the resolution of camera and picture was good and the memory was 32GB ( then one I bought) . Thinking it would give me a better speed and features and that all the existing facilities of IPAD 2 would be available since it was not mentioned by the sales man, i bought the same. Later I found when I opened it a couple of days later that there is no provision for sim card slot and only wifi CAN BE USED. wITH A RESULT where there is no WIFI connectivity as in most parts of the world it is useless. This aspect was not informed to me by the sales man . otherwise I would not have purchased the same. I think the person should have told about this. Now I am stuck with a near useless IPAD as I cannot carry two IPADs one for wifi USe and other with 3G facility. I feel I have been cheated

The mifi is an alternative to keep the one you have (Mifi is verizon's one, other cellular companies have their own versions)
There is a lot of free wifi out there and even apps that will give you a database you can access off line to find them.
Like was also said, you have 14 days, take it back. The 14 day return/exchange is standard at the apple store, other retailers have their own rules.

What is the problem with iCloud? iCloud has nothing to do with iTunes syncing.
