Limited documents folder content when accessed from Apple preferences
When setting up desktop background, the Apple/ system preferences/ desktop /choose folder/documents route shows only two files(modified yesterday) and not the complete documents file content that is viewable from Finder.
Why should the two be different? This is a recent occurence, as the full file content has been viewable in the past.
Looks like a bad attempt to rename Home folder caused my problems. Now done successfully and no problems experienced.
Thanks for any thoughts on the issue.

Lost gmail folder content when transferring from old mac to new
I got a new Mac Pro recently and used Migration Assistant to transfer everything from my old mac to the new one. Everything worked fine except in my gmail account. None of the mailbox folders I set up transferred. How can I get them onto the new machine?
If I activate 2-step verification now, would it somehow allow me to access the "lost" gmail folders?
No. Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results. -
FPN design: prevent employee from content when accessing externally
I have a portal architecture question that neither my IBM nor SAP consultant could answer in a satisfactory way:
situation: we're about to setup a federated portal network with multiple producer portals. We think we have to setup 2 consumer portals: one for internal users with full content and one for external access with reduced content (e.g. no MSS or BOBJ when accessing from the outside).
It is our understanding that the external client still directly connects with the producer portal for getting its contents so the reverse proxy has to let the URL request go through.
the problem:
an employee can find out the producer URL and directly access the producer from the outside. Since the user is known at the producer they can sign-in there and access all content.
We have security concerns and want to present sensitive content only to users on our internal network.
the question:
how can we prevent for sure that an employee accessing the portal from the outside can only access non-sensitive content.
... or ... are our requirements unusual and we should change?Hi,
the best way for ensuring that sensitive information isn't accessible from the outside is to make this kind of information not accessible from the outside. If you cannot seperate internal and external information on seperate servers:
Content published on the portal normally is being accessed by an URL. WebDynpro is integrated as an iFrame and BI reports are executed on the BI portal.
Even if you do integrate this kind of content via FPN, they seem to reside on the consumer, but when accessed the producer URL is called. Try to put a Firewall between your consumer and producer that will only allow internal IP adresses to pass.
User -> DMZ -> Consumer -> Firewall -> Producer
The user clicks on the MSS iView that is basically an ITS or WD that calls the Producer URL. The Firewall checks the IP of the user and blocks it.
If you want to prevent the user even to see the to-be blocked content in the navigation of the consumer, you'll have to code your own navigation / dynamical role assignment that checks if the user is connected in the Intranet or Internet and constructs on-the-fly the correct navigation.

When downloading from apple and iTunes stores error1009 shows up and no download happens
iTunes Store: Error (-50) when downloading purchased videos
Last Modified on: April 24, 2007
Article: 303887
Symptom
The following alerts may appear when trying to download purchased videos from the iTunes Store:
"There was an error downloading your purchased music. An unknown error occurred (-50)."
This can happen when the connection timeout occurs while downloading purchased video content from the iTunes Store.
Products affected
iTunes Store
iTunes for Windows
iTunes for Mac OS X
Purchased video content
Solution
Deleting the cached video files of the download, and starting the download again from the beginning, often will resolve this issue.
To find the cached video downloads:
Navigate to the downloads folder on your system. This folder can be found in the following locations:
Mac:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Downloads
Note: The tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
Windows Vista:
\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Downloads\
Windows XP and 2000:
\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Downloads\
Locate the folder that contains the cached video file for this purchase.
In Windows Vista, the folder will be named for the purchased video, and the name will end with .tmp.
Example: The Dundies.tmp
In Windows XP and Windows 2000, the folder will be named for the purchased video, and the name will end with .m4v.tmp.
Example: The Dundies.m4v.tmp
Move the .tmp folder for the affected purchased video to the Trash or Recycle Bin.
Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Check for Purchases.
Enter your account name and password and click the Check button. -
Why can I not adjust the volume on a video when accessed from the lock screen
Why can I not adjust the volume of a video in my pictures folder, when accessed from the new lock screen option?
There is no way to access videos directly from the lock screen.
What exactly is being attempted here? -
Why am I unable to send emails or open folders from my Outlook email when using my iPad? My Outlook is functioning normally when accessed from my laptop. This problem has been going on for three days now - everything was functioning normally before. I have looked at the standard troubleshooting suggestions provided by Apple, but they do not appear to cover this eventuality. I should be most grateful for any help.
Try first to Clear your cache from : Tools > Options > Advanced > Network, Clear Now button.

iPhoto, moving photo's to my document folder, and remove thumbnails from iphoto.
How to? Please...I cut and paste items, it is removed from iphoto for a few seconds then they appear again. The photos that are appearing on the mini - are they photos taken with an iPhone or iPad? If so, open System Preferences on both computers and select the iCloud tab. On the mini, click the Photos checkmark off and on the MBP click the Photos checkmark on (if it isn't already), then start iPhoto and select Preferences. Select the Photo Stream tab and make sure Photo Stream is on.

Font size of address list when accessed from a new message...
Ok, here's the issue, a friend of mine has trouble reading the rather small display size of the address list when accessed from within mail (the small quick box that appears). I can't seem to find how to make it larger anywhere. There is a setting from within Address Book, but this changes the display size just for when you access it directly, and not from within mail. Any ideas peeps?
Ta xxthe only changes you can make with regards to viewing/selecting font size and style are in mail>preferences>fonts & colors.
hope this helps -
HT1491 Search option tab doesn't appear on my iTunes Store when accessed from iPad or iphone
iTunes Store has recently been launched in India ....however search option tab seems to be missing in the app when accessed from iPad or iPhone. Also the purchase option is visible in iPad but missing in iPhone
Me too. 34000+ items.
Gotta wonder if that's a factor.
Just now I removed all remotes from iTunes.
(Prefs > Devices > Forget All Remotes)
Then I turned on Home Sharing on my iPhone.
(Tap the gear icon in the Library selection screen.)
Previously the iPhone was registered as a regular remote.
So both devices are controlling iTunes via home sharing.
Now iTunes is not crashing at all, in full-screen mode or otherwise.
Not sure if it will last, but time will tell.
Hope this is useful to you.
I'll post back if the crashes return. -
Microsoft Word and Excel Hang When Pasting From Apple Applications
I have had a problem ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard. Word and Excel hang when pasting from Apple applications like Safari and Pages. Pasting to OpenOffice does not show the problem. Pasting from Firefox does not show the problem. I have resolved font duplicates, got rid of input managers, reinstalled Office removing plist files and normal templates but the problem persists. Microsoft is saying it is not their software after looking at the crash dump created from force quit. Besides, sticking to open source software , I am at a loss for what to try next besides reinstalling Mac OS X 10.6 (I am on 10.6.2 now). Any help appreciated. I have crash dumps and snapshots of the hung process if anyone can read them. Word is using close to 100% of the CPU when hung.
Microsoft is saying it is not their software after looking at the crash dump created from force quit.
If their software is freezing up, it's certainly nobody else's fault. If those Apple apps are for some reason creating bad clipboard data, Microsoft's apps should be able to gracefully recover and report the problem. Error handling is probably one of the most important, and most difficult, aspects of programming, but you can't blame poor error handling on anyone but the developer. I suspect that, rather than bad clipboard data, it's more likely to be a case of Microsoft's apps simply not understanding something about perfectly valid clipboard data, because they haven't properly followed Apple developer guidelines.
Of course, that's not a solution. I can't really provide you a solution, other than to ask what version of Office you're using. If you're using too old a version of Word, you should update. You should also let us know what kinds of stuff you're copying. More info always helps to get better answers. -

Hello,
I have full representation of the Lync 2010 from Outside (i.e. Internet), but I still have small issue related to Lync-to-Exchange integration. Clients who is using Lync client from outside (i.e. Internet) cannot see Exchange-related information including
Call Logs, Voicemail and Calendar information.
Here is the experience and error messages that anyone will see when connecting to Lync server from Outside:
And this is the error message that will be displayed on Lync phone edition devices (a.g. Polycom CX-700) when connected from Internet:
If somebody can suggest what I can try I would appreciate this very much. I do believe that many other people have this issue as well.
Thanks!Hi, we had this issue and I ended up logging a MS support job. Turns out it was the TMG rule/Auth method causing the issue.
Job details:
**Symptom:
Lync Client External User are not able to retrieve the EWS URL
**Troubleshooting:
• We found External users are not able to Retrieve the EWS information in the Lync Client .
• We found the below error in the ETL logs.We found for EWS request we are getting the 401 response
HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized ( The server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web server is denied. Contact the server administrator. )
• TMG need pass through Authentication
Public names are autodiscover.domain.com and Outlook anywhere External FQDN and paths are /ews/* and /autodiscover/*, OAB/*
Users is All Users, and Delegation is "No delegation but client may authenticate directly" on the corresponding tabs of the publishing rule.
This changes is required for Lync Client as Lync Client does not work well with this BASIC authentication on TMG .
• After TMG engineer changed this settings in the TMG users are able to see EWS information.

Can CS6 exploit the GPU on my desktop when accessed from my laptop with RDP?
Just to clarify further: both machines running windows 7 professional or better (so the full version of RDP is available), and CS6 runiing on the desktop, accessed from my laptop.
As the GPU is being used as a compute resource, will CS use the desktop GPU for acceleration?
sad day if not - I am considering ditching expensive laptops and use a medium spec laptop together with a good gutsy desktop (which is about 1/3rd the price / performance) as I have a good network to run over at home. The water is somewhat muddied. I have only a Windows 7 and Windows 8 system to try it with at the moment.
This is what I got when I RDP'd into a Windows 8 VM from Windows 7:
Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0 (13.0 20120315.r.428 2012/03/15:21:00:00) x64
Operating System: Windows NT
Version: 6.2
System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:7, Stepping:6 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1
Physical processor count: 4
Processor speed: 3159 MHz
Built-in memory: 4095 MB
Free memory: 3104 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 3466 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 60 %
Image tile size: 128K
Image cache levels: 4
The GPU Sniffer crashed on 8/21/2012 at 5:33:29 PM
Display: 1
Display Bounds:= top: 0, left: 0, bottom: 1200, right: 1600
No video card detected
Serial number: Tryout Version
Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\
Temporary file path: C:\TEMP\
Photoshop scratch has async I/O enabled
Scratch volume(s):
Startup, 159.7G, 134.6G free
Required Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Required\
Primary Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\
Additional Plug-ins folder: \\Noelc4\c\DEV\ProDigital\trunk\plugins\Output\Win\LastBuild\x64\
I have Photoshop working okay on the above system using the OpenGL VMware provides when I log directly into the console...
I don't think the above failure says anything definitive one way or another what's up with your particular request yet, though it does tell me I need to do some additional testing to try to understand what's happening so that I know how my own products are going to behave in this situation.
I have a Windows 7 VM I can test with. Watch this space...

We have OSB service and we are able to access over firewall. Also the WSDL, Schemas etc., But when we external users access the WSDL, they are not able to get complete content i.e schemas are not imported.
Reason is WSDL has http (<import schemaLocation="http://test.com:80/xxxxxx/Proxy/schema") with port no 80 instead of https (<import schemaLocation="https://test.com/xxxxxx/Proxy/schema") .
Since we don't specify the complete schema location in WSDL, how does WSDL include the complete schema path? And how to change it https path instead of http?Namaste,
Sorry for the delayed response.
Yet, my one query is not answered.
Q:Are you ABLE to get the Desired path in Endpoint URL(https) as well?
Explanation:
What I mean is, When the external users access the WSDL (I am assuming External Users are able to access WSDL through Firewall),
As you have mentioned that XSD imports have HTTP instead of HTTPS, but how about the soap:address location? Even this points to HTTP instead of HTTPS?
(Ex:
<wsdl:service name="CaduceusSiteService">
<wsdl:port name="site_pt" binding="tns:site_pttBinding">
<soap:address location="https://www.test.com/test123"/> ---> is this HTTP or HTTPS?
</wsdl:port>
</wsdl:service>
BTW, did you set, HTTP Transport Configuration --> HTTPS required parameter to "YES"? (This is a prerequisite).
We had a similar issue, where we had HTTP instead of HTTPS when WSDL accessed from Firewall.
However, after lot of struggle, we got it worked after changing Firewall (MS TMG) settings to support for "text/xml".
I think, it could be the same settings needed to done in your case too. Please do check the firewall settings.
Thanks,

ITunes crashes when accessed by Apple TV 2
When I access iTunes (10.2.2) on my Mac (10.6.7) from "Computers" on my AppleTV 2, it crashes iTunes. It will usually see my iMac and let me starting drilling down into my media choices. It will pause while searching for Movies, for example, and then my computer disappears from ATV2 and I have a crash notification waiting for me on my iMac.
Any ideas as to what's going on?I had this issue and tried everything i could find on the posts. What it turned out to be was one of my movies, that played fine on itunes, was somehow corrupted and would crash itunes when accessed by ATV2.
