Limited features on asha 311

samsung champ has more features than nokia asha 311.lol i.e champ has inbuild dictionary but asha 311 don't have,,.equaliser option is very poor even i can't get any changes in sound when we change the equaliser option(i.e jazz,pop etc)..lol ,,,,,brightness control,,,and many more .if i write all the lack of features, that will become a essay lolll..
And nokia says that this is a Smartphone lol....I think nokia don't know that which is called smartphone.....even i can't tell that it is a features ph bcz lot of basic features is missing which seen in normal features phone... I recomandaded it is a FLOP FEATURES phone
when my frnd tell me that he want to buy nokia than i always recomanded them to buy other branded ph rather than duffer nokia asha...
After long month we get only apps update not any features or firmware update which is more necessary bcz there is lot of features missing in asha 311

^ I've only noticed updated apps. You get new mail, new chat, twitter with push notifications, updated notifications app, added some pre-installed games from gameloft and EA. That's it. UI or menu saw no changes. One change is the volume too loud note when earphones are plugged in.
Sad thing is that the chipset won't allow you to downgrade. So update only if you're ready to get those updated apps

1. Adobe has stopped the development of flash lite (the mobile flash player), so that will not unfortunately become available for Asha 311.
2. there is an option to disable the camera sound. Just check the settings meny inside the camera application. (I just tested this myself).
3. what do you mean by this? some of the preinstalled content can't be normally removed from the phone.

Successor of the Nokia Asha 311

I have an Asha 311 and though it's a nice phone (besides the problems like missing mutlitasking, copy/paste etc) I think the biggest problem is the tiny screen. Even for a feature phone, a Fulltouch-phone should have a display, which is at least 3.5 inches. Everything else is unusable and maybe for a 8 years old good. Preinstalled apps are possible to rotate, but most Third-party-apps miss this feature.
Are there already any plans for the successor of the Asha 311 with a bigger screen (and of course other improvements)?

Nokia has now announced the Asha 310, almost a clone of the cheaper S40-Fulltouch-phones Yes, the Asha Phones are hot sellers, but I really don't think that's good for Nokias image to release so many similar phones, just with differences in WLAN, Dual-SIM, or 3G. I really hope they'll skip the Asha 304, and finally release the Asha 312.

About asha 311 update

New update availabe for asha 501, 502, 503. But what's the problem to nokia that they can not make a update for asha 311. There was some problem. So an update is need for asha 311 user. When nokia publish an update for asha 311 ?

As stated earlier, please try to explain and state what you have understood already. That makes it easier to answer you, because one knows which parts are missing and/or not understood yet! Now I have to give you an assumption of explanation, the very big picture which is a long story:
Nokia created several variants of each firmware version, for example code 059F7M7 for version 07.36. As you see, the variants are identified by the product code, in this example code 059F7M7. Your phone was targeted for a different market, therefore the label on your Nokia 311 (and its initial product code) was 059G914. Correct?
Now we have issue number one: Each firmware variant comes with a limited set of languages. I do not know why Nokia does this, but they do. Therefore, some firmware variants come with Chinese, some with Bangla, some with Thai, some with German, ‥. Consequently, here in Germany my product code is 059F730. Although I have version 07.36, I do not have Thai, although the same version is sold in Thailand—the difference is the product code.
That is the reason for not having Bangla on your phone right now: You flashed to a product code which does not have Bangla included.
The solution would be to go for the product code you had before. Now we have issue number two: The product code with Bangla did not get version 07.37. Again, I do not know why Nokia does this. Anyway, it is common practice at Nokia that some minor updates are not rolled-out globally. Still, the ‘engineers’ increase the version number.
That is the reason for not having Bangla on your phone right now: You flashed to a product code for France which does not have Bangla at all.
The solution would be to downgrade the version. Now we have issue number three: Nokia Care Tools, those which are public and available at the lower level Nokia Care Centre do not allow to downgrade firmware files. Again, I do not know why Nokia does not allow this. Anyway, it is like it is, officially nobody is able to downgrade.
Consequently, you are stuck at 07.37. Consequently, you are stuck at a product code without Bangla. The easiest solution is to sell that Nokia 311 and go for a Nokia 311 with firmware 03.81, 03.90, or 05.92. With those firmware, you can can change the product code and go for a firmware which has Bangla and version 05.92. With that version, you still have all the apps you desired so much—except the Nokia Maps app, at least you stated that.
I am an end-uer like you. I do not know all firmware variants and what is included in each. Perhaps you find a combination of Bangla and with Nokia Maps. Or you go for your old strategy and use that firmware version, to extract all these Java apps. Then you go for 07.36 and re-install them. Anyway, you cannot go for 07.37 because you are stuck without Bangla then. Therefore, it might be much easier to go for a Windows Phone. There you have Nokia Maps = HERE Maps and you are able to install all languages dynamically withouth messing around with product codes, without having to care about versions.
Now you got the long story. For the next time, please try to explain and state what you have understood already. That makes it easier to answer you, because one knows which parts are missing and/or not understood yet. In this case, you could have saved you reading time if you had done that.

Let me try to help you out:
Firstly the Nokia Account, you can always link a new account to your phone. To manage your account, Just go here : Settings > Nokia Account
Now coming to your remaining questions:
1. Asha 311 runs on a modified version of S40 specially modded for touch phones.
2. There are many sites to download apps like getjar and mobile9. But, using Nokia Store will be quick and easy among everything else.
Coming to your worst things:
1. Agree with copy/paste. I'm also missing it here.
2. Get a video with better quality and it will run in full screen, provided it doesn't have a frame. Try playing videos of around 360p or higher.
3. S40 is one of the best os when it comes to feature phones. It correctly complements the hardware and provides very good functionality and usability. There's nothing against the os. If you prefer android (which sucks with low end phones), you shouldn't be here.
5. Asha series includes perfectly crafted feature phones. You just need to look for an alternative if you don't like it. They include everything that a feature phone in this range should include.

Asha 311 Video Player Problem.. Please Help !

asha 311 video player plays most of the formats but cannot play's next video when pressing Next (next to play/pause)
the repeat, shuffle fuction is useless, why this 2 function is there if its going to play one video and wont play next one !? how its gonna shuffle the same file !
cant create playlist for videos and this is really annoying! what nokia thinking before lauching this type of software ! even nokia 112 and others have great video/music player features
i am really annoyed by this.. i added some kids rymes, poems videos in mSD card and into asha 311 and i gave it to my 3 year old neice..
i started the first file and later 30 min when i came back, she watching the same first video again and again ! its just 2 min video, she unable to watch next videos ! have to go back to main, select video, search that file and play... again and again for different videos ! this is really nonsense from nokia !
so please help me to fix this issue or please give me the link of other video player software for asha 311, i googled and found some stupid softwares..

Asha 311 : a waste;a joke

If nokia provided 1GHz processor to asha 311, then whats da use of it? It doesnt support multitasking! And moreover its os is getting worst day by day ! Even samsung 's galaxy y has a processor of just 853 MHz and still has multitasking !!!!

I do agree that Asha series provide a pretty limited functionality as compared to say a Galaxy Y which runs android. But the thing is that nobody forced you to choose an Asha over an android phone. You should've analyzed your purchase before taking the decision.
Asha phones stress on providing limited functionality but with better response and ultimate stability, whereas phones running android (in this range) are underpowered devices which are not consistent at providing smooth interaction and often start lagging within the first week of purchase.
Anyways I'm not here to compare the two platforms. As about the 1ghz processor, just use a Asha 305 for sometime and you'll then realize what role the faster processor plays.
Regarding software updates, they are there to improve the integration of hardware and software and as such Nokia never delivers a change in UI or transformation of UI layers using software updates. The updates are only pushed to eliminate any known bugs and making the system more stable.
Asha platform is the path to future and you see companies keep on trying new things and introduction of new products is a part of it. As with the Older DP2 devices, they'll receive their promised support and will receive bug fixes if the need arises. As said earlier, updates are not supposed to change UI layers. Just pick up any device from the competitor (again at this price point) and see how much of software updates are pushed for them.

Quality apps for asha 311

we as users of the asha 311 are very disappointed in this device given its capability of being able to accommodate very powerful quality apps like skype shazam amongst others. the nokia engineers should be able to fix such additions.....and also features such as video call..copy paste options..screen lock pattern instead of the common number keyguard lock...this phone can be the dopest of all if such additions are considered

Btw. regarding VoIP calls - it's seems that Asha 311 should support Nokia VoIP natively (http://www.nokia.com/global/products/phone/asha311/specifications -> VoIP calling mentioned), so there would not be necessarily a need to install additional app (like Skype).
but I can try check/verify how that works in practice.

Will a CS5 Master Suite serial work on a CS5.5 download just with limited features?

I just got a new computer and can't find my discs that I purchased for the CS5 Master Collection to install it...I got my serial from Adobe's site - will this serial work with the trial download of CS5.5(With limited features)? Or is there still a CS5 download somewhere? I'm just seeing the CS5.5 downloads on the download page - not sure if an old link is still around and active.
