Limited functions printing with HP Officejet 4500....frustrated!!

Question

I don't see any options to print gray scale or draft or a way to highlight and print only a section of a document. This is very frustrating to me as I've always been able to do this with pc print options.
Can you help me?

I was confused about black and white printing when I first started using my hp printer in 10.6
you might want to check the preset in the printer dialog box. One of the presets may be black and white.

If your printer dose not have a pre-set, you can make one:

1) when you go to print, make sure the box is expanded. (so you see number of copies, printer orientation extra)
2)Right bellow orientation there will be a pulldown menu. The name of this menu changes, depending on witch application your in. For instance if your in safari, the pulldown menu will say "safari"
click on this menu, chose paper type/quality.
3) at the bottom there will be a small triangle next to the word "color options"
if you click on the triangle it will expand to show more color options.
4) one of the menu is "color" from the list chose grey scale
5) chose the radio button "black and white cartridge only"
6) go to the preset menu, chose save preset, Name the preset "black and white"
in the future all you will have to do to print in black and white is click on the preset menu and chose "black and white"
