Limited to 8 Outs in Logic with PT's HD

Hi
My system when using logic 8 is limited to 8 outs. In PT's I have the full 16. This is something to do with digidesign limiting the amount of OP's with the DigiCore Audio Driver
My question is - is there any way around this?
Here's my setup
Mac Pro 3 GHZ - HD3 - Apogee AD & DA 16X via digisnake to HD card.

Yes, our posts crossed (the Forum is really slow to update sometimes) so it looked like I was talking to you when in fact I thought I was posting the first reply. But confusion notwithstanding, I fully understand your reply confirming that the OP does need a workaround…
Regarding correcting grammar: it isn't fashionable to do this, & occasionally — unintentionally — causes offence, but sometimes I just can't resist. So thanks for the implied support! (Things have got so bad that you even see it on shop signs now; for example, "Lottery Ticket's" or "Motor Part's & Spare's"… what's that all about?)

  • How can I enable 16 outs from Logic with Intel Mac Pro?

    Hi everyone,
I am a bit new to the digital output world! I have a Digi002 with Logic 7 and I have a Behringer A/D converter box to recieve digital output using optical cable. My question is this: I can only see 8 normal stereo outputs plus additional 9-10 output. Is there a command in Logic (as per the old "enable 16 in/outs in 5.5)to allow the greyed out extra outputs to work? or I am being very stupid and not enabling some command on the Mac?
I thank you all in advance for any kind responses!

I see you're using a Behringer A/D converter. I had one of these once. It made a lot of noise: crackling, pops etc. I know that was the cause as they only happened on those 8 tracks.
I may have had a lemon, but if you get similar problems, (and I hope you don't) I have changed to the Alesis AI3 and now have no problems, it might be worth you making a mental note.

  • I need help I have the m audio m track plus and working out of logic studio 9 and it comes up but I have no sound, but I can here it using garageband. How do I get it to work with logic studio?

How do I use my M Audio M track Plus with the logic pro 9 software? It works with garageband, but I am not getting anything out of Logic. It does show up on list as option and I have done all of the sound preferences to M audio, etc. etc. Please help

I got to that page but clicking on the Subscribe Free had no effect.
Nothing showed in the Podcasts nor the iTunes U.
In fact I also subscribed to Stanford's lectures and despite actually managing to DL them there is still no subscription in iTunes U, just the Intro to Computer Science belatedly.

I'd like to attach the screen grab of the out of order and randomly DLed selection of Harvard's course, but the forum won't let me attach it even though it is only 456k. Correction, close post and retry and now it lets me. NB how intermittent the DLs are and in no particular order.

    Hello.
I am having much difficulty using any software drum program. I am trying to use EZ Drummer and the drum programs in Logic, with limited success. I was using them, and they were working, but this is no longer the case. Please help me navigate my way through these issues, if possible.
    Thanks.

    Aha! I have sorted it.
For those with similar problems, the solution is this:
Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > MIDI Drivers
    Then delete DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin

  • How do I get a descent sound level and quality when exporting out of Logic ??

    Hi guys,
I know this topic's been discussed many times before but I still can't fix my problem
I'm going crazy right now. It's been weeks I've been working on beats on Logic and I think they now sound pretty cool.
So I'm trying to export them out of Logic on mp3,or wav, or aiff but everytime it comes out very low. So when I'm applying different tips (limiter, adaptative limiter and different things I found on the internet... ) the sound level is a bit higher but still the quality is not as good as it is on Logic
So here's my questions : first, is it possible to get the exact same quality as the one you have when listening into logic ?
then how to get the best quality with a normal sound level  so when you listening to the mp3 or wave or aiff on itunes just after a normal song you don't have to turn the sound up
Thank you very much for you help !!

  • Future support for using PL/SQL core business logic with ADF BC

We want to migrate our large Forms client/server (6i) application to ADF, possibly using a migration tool like Ciphersoft Exodus.
One scenario could be to use ADF BC and ADF-Faces or a different JSF-Implementation for presentation and business layer but keep our heavy PL/SQL-businesslogic inside the Oracle database in packages, triggers, functions and procedures.
This scenario could be chosen due to the huge amount of interconnected logic inside the database (10 years of development; no technical components; any package may access any table and more of this kind of dependencies). The business logic nowadays held in Forms client will be moved mainly into the database as a prerequisite to this scenario.
Choosing this "keep-logic-in-DB"-scenario we need a good support by ADF BC to do so. We know and prototyped that it is possible to call some PL/SQL via JDBC from ADF BC and it is possible to use stored procedure calls for standard business entity data access (ins, del, upd, ..). But this does not solve our problems. We want to reuse core business logic coded in PL/SQL. This is much more than change the ADF standard behavior for an update with an own PL/SQL-call.
    Now my question:
Will there be a kind of sophisticated support to use ADF BC in combination with database-kept logic?
If so, when will this happen and how will the common problems of transactional state inside the database and inside the ADF BC be solved? Any plans or ideas yet?
Many other clients do have similar applications built in Forms and PL/SQL and would be glad to hear about a path of direction.
I've read the technical article 'understanding the ADF BC state management feature' which you have contributed to. One current limitation is pointed out there: Using PL/SQL with ADF BC limits ADF AM pooling to 'restricted level' which reduces scalability.
Are you aware of additional main problems/tasks to solve when using PL/SQL heavily with ADF BC, which we have to think about?
    Thank you for any response.
    Ingmar

My main problem is two 'concurrent' areas holding state in an application system based on DB-stored PL/SQL-logic in combination with ADF BC.
For a new System everything can be made ok:
Sure, it is possible to build a new system with the business logic included in ADF BC only. All long-living state will be handled in the BC layer ( including support for UnitsOfWork longer than the webside short HTTP-requests and HTTP-sessions and longer than the database transactions.
For an old system these problems arise:
    1. DB data changes not reflected in BC layer:
Our PL/SQL-logic changes data in tables without notifying the ADF BC layer (and its cache). To keep the data in ADF BC entity objects identical to the changed database content a synchronization is needed. BC does not know which part of the application data has been changed because it has not initiated the changes through its entity objects. Therefore a full refresh is needed. In a Forms4GL environment the behavior is similar: We do frequently requeries of all relevant (base)tables after calling database stored logic to be sure to get the changed data to display and to operate on it.
-> Reengineering of the PL/SQL-logic to make the ADF BC layer aware of the changes is a big effort (notifying BC about any change)
    2. longer living database transactions
Our PL/SQL-logic in some areas makes use of lengthy database transactions. The technical DB-transaction is similar to the UnitOfWork. If we call this existing logic from ADF BC, database state is produced which will not be DB-committed in the same cycle.
This reduces scalability of ADF BC AM pooling.
    Example:
    a) Call a DB-stored logic to check if some business data is consistent and prepare some data for versioning. This starts a DB-transaction but does not commit it.
    b) Control is handed back to the user interface. Successful result of step a) is displayed
    c) User now executes the versioning operation
    d) Call another DB-stored logic to execute the versioning. DB-transaction is still open
    e) Business layer commits the transaction automatically after successful finishing step d). Otherwise everything from a) to e) is rolled back.
-> redesign of this behavior (= cutting the 1to1 relation between LogicalUnitOfWork and the technicalDatabaseTransaction is a big effort due to the big amount of code.

  • Outer Join logic

The following code is an example of how to perform an outer join, in this case with ReportQuery (thanks Doug):
            ExpressionBuilder eb = new ExpressionBuilder();
            ReportQuery rq = new ReportQuery(Employee.class, eb);
            rq.addAttribute("firstName");
            rq.addAttribute("lastName");
            rq.addAttribute("areaCode", eb.anyOfAllowingNone("phoneNumbers").get("areaCode"));
List<ReportQueryResult> results =  (List<ReportQueryResult>) session.executeQuery(rq); My question is about the logic Toplink uses to generate the outer join statement with the "(+)" in the generated sql.
Does Toplink only generate the join statement if the same attribute is chosen in the select statement (in the above example "areaCode")?
Along the same line of questioning, does it matter which attribute was in the get() call? So, in the above example did it have to be areaCode, or could it have been any other attribute of phoneNumber, and it still would have performed the join?
In my case, because the selection attributes are built up dynamicly, should I add all attributes of my child class (my equivalent PhoneNumber class)?

    Thanks for your reply Doug.
    One last question, hopefully.
I have a parent table with 2 child tables. When attempting an outer join with both, toplink does not attempt to outer join either. I understand why, sort of - as you get an error when attempting this in sqlplus with "(+)" syntax.
I understand that you can outer join > 1 other table to a parent with ansi sql syntax:
        select dept.*,emp.*
from dept left outer join emp
on dept.deptno = emp.deptnoWill toplink allow > 1 child table outer join to a parent table?

  • Video out of synch with audio

Sometimes when I use my camera the audio is out of synch with the video.
This has happened when I use the 8mm apps as well.
Is there a way to fix this or make it not happen at all?
    Evan Jacobs

    Sorry that didn't help, Jon.
This kbase search makes me wonder if perhaps you have some kind of conflict with something you are doing in Logic or some other AV Pro App?
If you can rule that out, too, somebody else might have suggestions. It may help them to know if you have exactly the same problem when you try to record movie clips with some other application.

  • Mappings out of synch with OWB repository

    Hi,
I have a global problem with my repository, every mapping reports validation errors (many) advising to reconcile inbound or outbound.
First question is how could this happen on such a global scale (affects every mapping) ?
Second is how to fix, when I reconcile inbound a) All the links to columns are lost and I have to manually re-attach which is very risky let alone tedious b) After reconcile inbound some tables dont match what is in the repository (columns missing). The only way around this was to delete and drag the table back into the mapping and re-attach columns.
Third question is, since the prod version of these mappings are running successfully if I deploy a mapping that is out of synch with the repository will it still function as it should ?
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Brandon

I think the problem you are having is that your mapping objects are not reconciled to the repository objects. It is purely a logical OWB problem of matching an mapping operator to an OWB object. It should not effect your busines logic or code that is generated by OWB.
The warnings are just that, warnings. If you were missing a connection between objects, you'd get an error.
Even though an operator in your map exists as an object in your repository, they are not properly bound. If your reconcile inbound each object (match by UOID and by name), you should stop getting the warnings.
This is one of those quirks with OWB (at least with 9.2.0.8 that I am using). I noticed that if I import a mapping from another repository, the operators become unbound. I've given up trying to fix them each time. I just ignore the warnings.

  • AUTO PO print out creates spool with RFC user.

We have classic scenario where AUTO SRM PO print out spool is create with RFC user. While PO data is passing to R/3 is correct with correct user (created_by). Out put is created on the name with RFC user not with user who create SRM SC& PO. BADI BBP_CREATE_PO_BACK will help?

    Hi Vishal,
    Welcome to SDN.
Do they use custom PO SAPScript/Smartform?
If they do, you may want to check the print program (custom one) and the custom PO form. Perhaps there is some logic to set/display with the european decimal notation.
If they don't, you can also check the print program setting and do debugging (if necessary) to find out the logic to assign european decimal notation.
    Hope this will help.

  • Logic with Reason or Live?

    Hello all and Happy Holidays.
I'm looking to add some more flexibility to Logic. Right now I am trying to decide between adding "Reason" or "Live" to my software arsenal but I'm unsure which is the better choice. For the short term it has to be one or the other. Any thoughts? Pros and cons regarding either?
    Any input would be great.

Reason and Live are both great programs.
Reason is good for a 'general' tool to add to your toolbox. The strings and piano sounds good, the combinator adds a lot of interesting possiblities. But the sequencer is lackluster at best. I never use it as a stand alone program. It's always rewired to Logic, or Live. Another slighlty negative point is Rewire. It's just not as simple as an AU plug-in. It's not complicated, but it's not as simple as using an AU plug-in. I've since replaced all the 'parts' that I commonly using in Reason, by better AU 'version' (e.g., Reaktor for synth/beats. Stylus for beats). Also, it's good to point out that Logic has a nice of AU to begin with. If there's a particular AU Logic plug (e.g., Ultrabeat) that doesn't quite do it for you, then maybe consider looking into a more focused plug-in to meet your needs.
Live is a completely different entity. It's an outstanding sketch pad and composing tool. Absolutely brilliant. It's great for layer parts, trying new arrangements, or recording loops (clips) and then triggering them in a particular order via midi. It's a very interactive compositional tool. The problem is there isn't an easy way to use Logic's plug-ins from Live. Live as a Rewire slave to Logic is very restricting. So when you're composing in Live and you want to use Sculpture, or UltraBeat, you can't (very easily). Also, Live is great for triggering loops/clip live. It's GUI is setup really well.
Also, neither Live, or Reason (as stand alone) allow time signature changes. This is a huge negative point for both of them, especially Live.

  • Routing audio out of logic

I have just purchased a Korg Monotron and am trying to send sound out from Logic into the Monotron, and then filter the audio in the Monotron and record this back into Logic, however I have a problem.
The audio I want to send out of Logic is routed to the only 2 outputs '1 & 2' on my Edirol UA-25 interface.
I take a mono output from one of these outputs on the rear of the interface, and feed this into the Monotron headphone socket.
The issue is that when the sound is fed back into Logic, I can't hear the filtering effects because it is drowned out by the audio track I am sending out.
How can I mute the sound of the outputted audio so that I can only hear the subtleties of the filtering effect in Logic.
Can anyone explain a workaround for this.
I have tried to set up an aggregate device (can I record audio from my iMac instead?) and use the I/O plug in but with no success- any suggestions welcome!
    Cheers,
    Mr Rock

Sorry- that was a typo- I take the output from Logic into the aux-in of the Monotron and then feed the output from the headhone out of the Monotron.
The issue is I cannot just hear the subtlety of the filtered Monotron signal back in Logic as the Logic output is playing at the same time.
    Any solutions appreciated!

    Any advice welcome!

    Hi Dat Stream Studio,
    This sounds very promising!
Can you please confirm when in 'Audio Midi Setup', do I go to 'Audio Devices'.
If I select 'Audio Devices' then I have two setting- 'Default Output' and 'System Outputs'.
At present both are set to 'Edirol'.
Can you please suggest which ones I need to configure as 'Mac Internal'.
When this has been set up is all sound outputted through 'Mac internal' audio, and do I connect a lead from the iMac headphone socket into the Monotron?
To get sound back into Logic, should I connect the Monotron into say Input 1 on the Edirol, and then set up an audio track with the 'I/O' plug in set to audio 'Input 1 (and leave the 'output' blank)?
I look forward to your response.
    Cheers,
    Mr Rock

  • GB vs. Logic with respect to overall sound quality

Are there any technical differences between GB 9 and Logic with respect to the format that sound files are stored in, that would affect sound quality? I know that on the 'best' setting in GB, sound files are stored at 24 bits--is this the same in Logic? Also, is there any ability to dither from 24 bits to 16, in either GB or Logic?

    Meatyard wrote:
Thanks, this is hugely helpful. Would be good to know what kind of dithering algorithm GB uses and if it's as good as Logic's.
I don’t believe GB uses the POW-r algorithm.
When POW-r first came out, it was hardware only - several thousand dollars for a dedicated POW-r box. Then it was available in software, and then other companies could license it.
Because it's licensed tech, Apple pays for and markets its inclusion in Logic, but I'm not sure what would motivate them to include it in GB. Apple has its own in-house dithering algorithms that wouldn't cost them anything to include, and I would imagine the number of GB users who know what POW-r or any kind of dithering is, or care about the different flavors, is exceedingly small.
Given that GB is included in every new Mac, including POW-r for each and every one would be a substantial license for something almost none of the users would know or care about.

  • Logic with a Saphire focusrite or Liquid Mix?

Anyone using logic with the focusrite Liquid Mix or saffire?
If so can you guys post some a and b mp3 demos
    cheers

Yes I have experience with both. Use Saffire Pro 10 with my MBP and never had any problems with it very happy with it. Sold the Liquid Mix. If you want to use an external harddrive and a firewire interface you'll run out of firewire busses even with expresscard adapter and the saffire really doesnt like to be daisychained. And when I had the Liquid Mix, never really used is as a control surface didnt really find it better over using a mouse. And even though its takes processing load of the cpu it still caused other problems and made the system less stable. This was on Logic 8 and the drivers they had for it about 2 years ago though so dont know if its better now.
But did you like the sound of the liquid mix's DSP plug ins or not?, i am not interesting in using it as a surface board, i doubt that is what people buy it for, the built on DSP is what i am curious about,
As for the Saffire products i know the older models like the Pro 10 and Pro 26 i/os do not have any on board DSP processing like the liquid mix but Focusrite claims that the quality is alike their Green Channels, hows do or did they sound to you guys?
