Limited to 99 photos in slideshow

I am running idvd 6 wiith current updates, slideshow of about 280 was burned to dvd and will play completely in the computer but will stop at slide 99 when played in dvd player.
Another issue is the photos lost sharpness when viewed on computer in the slideshow. Any suggestions?

The 99 slide limitation should go away with this version of idvd.
It's due to a limitation of the DVD standard and can't be 'fixed' by Apple.
Slides in a slideshow are treated as 'Chapters' and a slideshow is a 'Track'. The standard limits a 'Track' to 99 'Chapters'.
Starting with iDVD 6, Apple created something of a 'hack' that links together several 'Tracks' making it possible to create slideshows of more than 99 images. HOWEVER, many/most set top DVD players don't like the 'hack' and will stop/pause/drop audio after 99 images.

  • ATV doesn't show all photos in slideshow

My ATV3 doesn't show all my photos in slideshow. It seems to repeat the same, say 50, over and over, even though I have about 400 in the folder on my windows7 PC.
    Whats the fix?
    Thanks

For the avoidance of doubt are you talking about the screensaver or the slideshows.
Slideshows should show all your photos, but screensavers will not. Screensavers need to save the photos to the Apple TVs flash storage, the Apple TV doesn't have a lot of this and so limits the number of photos it uses.

  • Photos in slideshow "smear"

I'm using iPhoto '09 on 2 machines.  On my G4 PPC (non-Intel) running OSX 10.5.8 photos in slideshow mode (not in albums, or library) show a "smear" at the edges.  (This smear seems to fill in the black band at picture edges.)  This crazy phenomenon does not appear on my iBook with the same iPhoto version and same OSX.  Also I cannot go to turn music off unless I'm in Ken Burns mode!!!
    Any ideas?

    Dupont 24:
iPhoto has no limits to the number of photos a user can have in a slideshow nor in the number of photos you can at at one time. If the slideshow is already created, just select all the photos you want in the main library or in an album and drag onto the slideshow icon in the Source pane.

  • IPhoto09 v 8.1.2 Problem- Double clicking on thumbnail results in glimpse of photo and changes to ! with black background.  No photo, no slideshow.

    iPhoto09 v 8.1.2
Double clicking on thumbnail results in glimpse of photo before changing to  !  with a black background.
    No photo, no slideshow.
(Preferences set to magnify with double click)

That indicates that the iPhoto database has lost the connection to the high resolution photo - if you have not made any changes to the library (like cleaning uyp, deleting using thrid party software or form the all images list) then rebuilding will probably resolve it - Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto database

  • Export photos FROM slideshow?

Can I create an album FROM a slideshow?
I created Album A (tons of photos) and slideshow A. I duplicated slideshow A and deleted all the photos I didn't want to include, that became slideshow B. Now I need to export the photos from slideshow B into a format I can burn to disc - photos, NOT the slideshow itself. Can I do this without having to recreate the wheel, and have to pick out the photos I want one by one in a new album? Thanks!

There is an easy way to keyword those photos so you can group them for exporting to the desktop.
1 - in the slideshow double click on the first photo to bring up the edit window.
2 - type Command+K to bring up the keyword pane
3 - assign a unique keyword, "xxxx", created for this process to the photo.
4 - hit the forward arrow key on the keyboard.
5 - assign the keyword to the next photo. Repeat until all photos have been keyworded.
6 - create a smart album: keyword is "xxxx".
7 - export the photos from the smart album.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPad Keyboard dock:  Cant jump picture/images in Photos or Slideshows

    Hi everyone,
I bought the keyboard dock accessory for my ipad.
I mean the keyboard onto which you can dock your ipad straight away.
Some of the keys in the top row of the keyboard are, according to the manual, supposed to:
"Fast-forward, or go to the next song, movie, image or slide"
"Play or pause songs, movies or slideshows"
Yet, I cannot seem to do any of the following. Is it normal?:
    - when in Photos, cant go from one image to the next by pressing any of these keys
    - when in Photos during Slideshow, cant pause the slideshow
The only function of these set of keys which works in my case, is in Youtube. They allow to pause the video, and also skip from one tube video to the next in the list.
    Any help needed!

    Hi Tasilisa,
I connected my iPad to my Keyboard dock to see what it would do.
Just once I got the keys working during a slide show. In all other cases it just controlled the "iPod App" during the slide show.
When I discover the trick, I will let you know.

  • Blurred photos in slideshow

    Hi,
Every 3 months of so I create a project in iDVD with my latest movies and photos. I create the movies in iMovie and use the slideshow function in iDVD for my photos. I upgraded to iLife'11 in December.
The photos look fine in iDVD, but when I have burnt to DVD the last 2 projects (so the one I created in October and the one I created today) the slideshow has appeared to be blurry. Looking at some of the previous threads with similar issues:
    - I have turned off the transitions
    - I have burnt to Double Layer
    - I have checked that I am burning in Professional quality
    - I have tried burning it with less than 100 photos
    (Video mode is PAL)
None of this has worked (though the change to double layer did improve the quality a touch).
What confuses me most is that I didn't have any problems with the 3 previous DVDs I burnt earlier last year and I haven't changed any settings.
Any suggestions? Happy to provide more details.

And all important as videos and photos are of my new baby daughter for her Great Grannie!
    What could be more important?
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico: http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie 6 as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 8 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • Changing Frequency of individual photos in slideshow

Is it possible? In iphoto it is (each photo can be displayed for a different amount of time) .... but it doesn't seem possible in idvd ... I would like to match photos to music ... so would like some photos to be up for 1 second, others 2 seconds, others 3 seconds, etc .....
I would love actually for some photos to be only up for a half second ... to hit the beat of the music ...
    Thanks for the help,
    Kyle

    Kyle & Bill,
This is a limitation of the iDVD slideshow: only one transition and one slide duration for the whole slideshow. The other limitation is no Ken Burns effect.
On the plus side, iDVD gives the best photo resolution (compared to using iPhoto or iMovie, then sending to iDVD). You can include the slide navigation arrows on your slideshow for complete viewer control. You can turn on the photo titles and comments to display during your slideshow. And, you can include the jpeg files from your slideshow in a data DVD section, so the recipient can load your full-size photos onto his computer.
If you need to sync the music to your slides, you have to create the slideshow in iMovie or with 3rd party software like PhotoToMovie.

  • Vertically Oriented Photos in Slideshow?

Is it just me or do the slideshow widgets only accept horizontally oriented photos? When I upload a vertically oriented photo, i.e. it's taller than it is wider, the slideshow rotates it to horizontal, turning the photo sideways.
    Any way around this?
    Thank you!
    - Bob

Really frustrated with this seeming limitation to the Muse slideshows. I've searched everywhere for an answer, or even anyone else having an issue with this. I really want vertical images to show in the slideshow. Help...?

  • Won't show entire photo during slideshow

I have many old scanned pics of various dimensions and when I create a slideshow, many of them are not shown in their entirety (think cropped) before the next slide comes. I have selected the "scale to fit" option but that doesn't quite get it done. Resizing them would distort the images, right? If I had small portrait pics in there and a large landscapes, wouldn't they come out looking like Kai's Super Goo projects?

I agree with the original post. I've got fairly regularly sized 4:3 photos, higher resolution than my screen, and I can't combine the Ken Burns effect and any other preference to ensure that I see the entire picture. Usually the top gets cut off - possibly because I have an iMac G5 whose aspect ratio is longer in relation to its height than my photos. The option to 'scale images to fit screen' doesn't seem to do anything either way - I would be happy with black bands at either side if I could get the whole pic but I can't. I can easily do this with GraphicConverter, a much simpler program. I am puzzled that people should be content to have slide shows where involuntary cropping takes place: and there's nothing in the Help file about it. Is it a Permissions problem?
    TIA

  • Safari (and other browsers) won't open photos or slideshow

I recently re-published my web site last night with a new template. Everything works fine but now when I click on any photos in my gallery I get the following message in Safari:
"Safari can’t open “photos:%20Kates%20Summer_files/slideshow.html?slideIndex=1” because Mac OS X doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “photos:”.
Same goes for clicking on slideshow. Also won't open with windows browsers - error message says something about finding an s: drive.
