Limited to no connectivity on linksys routers only.

I recently moved into a new house and bought a wireless router.
In my neighborhood there are two linksys wireless routers (including mine), both named differently, as well as a belkin wireless router.
When I try to connect to my router with my wireless connection, I receive the message "limited to no connectivity" yet I have full strength. However, I also have another computer in my household that is connected via ethernet cord which connects perfectly fine.
Considering this isn't working, for kicks I try to connect to my neighbors belkin connection.  Surprisingly this works perfectly fine.  After this I try connecting to another neighbors linksys router and I get the "limited to no connectivity" message yet again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im bad with the terminology, so the only thing I found in network connections was the local area connection as well as the wireless network connection.  The adapter is a totally different thing right?  The adapter is what im using to access the signal from my router, correct?  If this is right, im using a Linksys WUSB300N model.  It connects to the computer via USB and connects through its own program, rather than through windows.
[road2cycle] Yes, the wireless adapter is what you plug into your USB port.  From what you wrote, it appears that Windows recognizes it (wireless network connection).  If you open this and click the Support Tab what does it say?  When you connect to your neighbor's wireless network what does it say?
Also I forgot the username and password to change settings on the router by entering "192.168.1.1" into my url.
[road2cycle] The default is to leave the user name blank and the password is admin.  If you set the password during initialization and forgot it you'll have to reset the unit.
There are two ways to reset the Router’s
factory defaults. Either press and hold the Reset
Button for approximately five seconds, or restore
the defaults from Administration > Factory
Defaults in the Router’s web-based utility.
Finally, I didnt know if this would help anything.  But the linksys program I use to connect to the internet is showing this under link information:
IP address: 169.254.44.20
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
No Defualt Gateway
No DNS1
[road2cycle] I use a cable modem, and I believe the Gateway and DNS server are automatically assigned / detected when I connect to the internet.  If you are able to access the internet, through one of your router's wired (RJ-45) ports then I don't think this is an issue.

    Both routers are “transmit” devices and were not made to talk to other routers. You would need a wap54g or third-party firmware to make your router an access point.

    Have you tried a simple reset of your iPod to see if that helps?  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
    Otherwise, have you tried any of the troubleshooting mentioned in this Apple support document?

    If you're technically comfortable in getting to your Linksys settings - try changing the network mode or channel in your router's settings.
    I still use my old Linksys router and when it's set to the default channel, which is 7, my Macbook Pro and Macbook Air sometimes have issues - changed the channel to 9 and have had no issues since.
    Maybe it might work for you.
    In any event - screenshots below are for your E4200 and play with those settings and see if any of the changes you've made improves how your Macbook connects.  Before you change any settings, just remember what the old settings are in case you need to go back to your old settings.

  • IPv6 Test Case for LinkSys Routers - Based on Ubuntu + Radvd + DHCPv6 - E1200v2 isn't ready for IPv6

    Hello!
    Here on this guide, you'll learn how to deploy your own Linux IPv6 Router, that can be used in ANY network, to give IPv6 connectivity to ANY ethernet device, including Windows, Mac, Ubuntu Server and Desktop, RedHat and, of course, LinkSys routers like E1200v2 and E2500 for its WAN interfaces.
    I wrote this guide because I found a BUG on E1200v2, which doesn't work with IPv6 yet, already lost some money to figure this out.
    That's it, when you see a E1200v2 box at the store, you can read: "* IPv6 Enabled", but that is not entirely true, since it does not work as expected.
    Here on this post, it is a complete procedure to reproduce the problem.
    NOTE: The model E2500 v1 does not suffer from this problem!
    NOTE: This guide is very usefull if you have a LinkSys E2500 router and want to connect it directly into a Linux Router!
    Who am I?
    A.: I'm Thiago, I work in Brazil, for a company called iG (ig.com.br), I'm working here as a Network Engineer / SysAdmin and I have +10 years of experience with IPv4 networks + 5 years with IPv6.
    * Brief
    1- Install a Ubuntu 12.04.3, to act as your router, on a PC computer with two ethernet cards (eth0 will be Ubuntu's default route, eth1 will be used to connect LinkSys E1200v2);
    2- Prepare your Ubuntu Router (very important step, read it carefully)
    3- Connect E1200v2 directly into Ubuntu's eth1 ethernet card;
    4- Connect a Windows PC at E1200v2 LAN port 1 (used to configure your E1200 with Cisco Connect everytime a reset is desired);
    5- Reset (restore it from factory defaults) your E1200v2 router;
    6- Install Cisco Connect in your Windows PC (LAN port 1);
    7- Configure your E1200v2 as usual;
    8- Browse the Internet (still IPv4);
    9- Open Windows Command Prompt and type: ipconfig, ping, etc;
    10- Open Google Chrome or Firefox and go to your E1200v2 Web Admin Interface at http://192.168.1.1/
    11- Install a Ubuntu 12.04.3 Server connected at E1200v2 LAN port 2 to test IPv6 connectivity in deep, or;
    12- Boot a Ubuntu Desktop 13.04 Live CD connected at E1200v2 LAN port 3 to test IPv6 connectivity in deep;
    IMPORTANT NOTE:
    * This tests will require IPv4 connectivity to the Internet, since the IPv6 blocks used on this example, are blocks used only for documentation (or small tests) porpuses, which means that those IPv6 tests we're about to do, will not reach the Internet (in IPv6), neighter be routed out from your E1200v2. But it is enough to prove that E1200v2 drops its clients IPv6 connectivity. Feel free to replace those IPv6 address with your current / valid IPv6 blocks (if you have a IPv6 /48 block from your ISP, you know what I'm talking about).
    * Network Topology (Ubuntu Linux Router)
    IPv6:
    eth0
    2001:db8:0:1::/64 = uplink allocation
    2001:db8:0:1::1 = upstream router IP (Ubuntu's gateway IPv6)
    2001:db8:0:1::2 = customer configured IP (your WAN uplink interface to provider - Ubuntu's eth0 IPv6 address)

    2001:db8:1::/48 = statically routed subnet pointing at 2001:db8:0:1::2 that come from you IPv6-ISP
    2001:db8:1::1 = your first IPv6 within your own infrastructure (Ubuntu's eth1 - E1200v2 directly connected here)

    After rebooting it, try to "ping 8.8.8.8" to make sure your Ubuntu Router have at least, IPv4 Internet connectivity.
    NOTE: From this point, you'll be able to start testing IPv6 from behind your Ubuntu Router (i.e. from its eth1), if you connect a Ubuntu Desktop, a Mac or a Windows on Ubuntu's eth1, it will provide IPv4 and IPv6 address to that devices, including your E1200v2 WAN port...
    3- Connect E1200v2 directly into Ubuntu's eth1 ethernet card;
    Plug a RJ45 cable between Ubuntu eth1 ethernet card and E1200v2 WAN port.
    4- Connect a Windows PC at E1200v2 LAN port 1
    This Windows computer will be used to (re)configure your E1200v2 with Cisco Connect everytime a reset is desired.
    5- Reset (restore it from factory defaults) your E1200v2 router;
    Press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds.
    6- Install Cisco Connect in your Windows PC (LAN port 1);
    Boot(reboot) Windows and install Cisco Connect on it.
    7- Configure your E1200v2 as usual (by finishing Cisco Connect installation procedure);
    After concluding this step, your Windows PC will have both IPv4 and IPv6 address, that come from E1200v2.
    Windows gets its IPv4 from DHCP and IPv6 from SLAAC (main point of the problem), both provided by E1200v2.
    NOTE: From this point, you'll be able to see the problem with E1200v2 internal RA daemon, you'll lose your IPv6 connectivity that come from E1200v2. But, lets keep testing it...
    8- Browse the Internet (still IPv4);
    That's it, try to browse google.com from your Windows PC, if Ubuntu Router can "ping google.com", Windows PC should be able to do it so.
    9- Open Windows Command Prompt and type: ipconfig, ping, etc;
    Run "ipconfig" to see your IPv4 and IPv6 address...
    Run "ping 8.8.8.8" to see if you can reach the Internet...
    10- Open Google Chrome or Firefox and open your E1200v2 Web Admin Interface at http://192.168.1.1/
    Access your E1200v2 Web Admin and go to the "Status -> Router" menu.
    Write down its Internet IPv6 address, it will be something like this:
    IPv6 - Internet IP Address: 2001:db8:1:1::2000
    NOTE: You can get this address at the Ubuntu Router itself, by reading the file /var/log/syslog (`grep pool' might help), for example:
    # grep pool /var/log/syslog
    Sep 24 00:47:13 ubuntu-router-1 dhcpd: Picking pool address 2001:db8:1:1::2000
    Sep 24 00:47:13 ubuntu-router-1 dhcpd: Picking pool prefix 2001:db8:1:1::/56
    You'll see the above message on your Ubuntu Router, right after turning on your E1200v2. Pool address is the IPv6 Internet IP Address of your E1200v2's WAN port, pool prefix is the delegated subnet to your E1200v2 router. After thatn, it will start to advertiser that block on its LAN ports and WiFi (which doesn't work as expected, there is a problem there, whithin E1200v2 itself.
    11- Install a Ubuntu 12.04.3 Server connected at E1200v2 LAN port 2, to test IPv6 connectivity in deep;
    Here is the most important test:
    * Testing the IPv6 connectivity from E1200v2 LAN ports.
    This test is very simple, we just need to try ping E1200v2's IPv6 Internet IP Address.
    This Ubuntu Server will have the following content on its /etc/network/interfaces file:
    # This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
    # and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
    # The loopback network interface
    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback
    # The primary network interface
    auto eth0
    # IPv6 - SLAAC - No DHCPv6 client required - E1200v2 will kicks off this IPv6, and I don't know why...
    iface eth0 inet6 auto
    # IPv4 - Requires DHCPv4

    After this, your Ubuntu Server will be able to "ping 8.8.8.8" and "ping6 2001:db8:1:1::2000" (E1200v2 WAN IPv6 Address noted before).
    To prove that E1200v2 have a problem with IPv6, try to ping it, just run:
    mtr -n 2001:db8:1:1::2000
    ...And after a few minutes, Ubuntu Server will lose its IPv6 address, because E1200v2 is kicking it off.
    You'll be able to see a lots of package loss going on "mtr -n 2001:db8:1:1::2000".
    If you connect a Mac OSX on E1200v2 LAN por 3, for example, it will also lose its IPv6 from time to time.
    Wireless clients connected at E1200v2, like Android, iPad, Windows, Mac and Ubuntu laptops, also loses its IPv6 (that come from E1200v2) from time to time.
    You guys must note that the E1200v2 itself, ramdomly becomes unreacheable from its own LAN ports (via IPv6)!! Which is unnaceptable.
    12- Boot a Ubuntu Desktop 13.04 Live CD connected at E1200v2 LAN port 3 to test IPv6 connectivity in deep;
    Boot a Ubuntu Desktop connected at your LinkSys E1200v2 router, and open 2 Terminals, on each of it, you should run:
    Terminal 1:
    mtr -n 2001:db8:1:1::2000
    Terminal 2:
    sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog
    You'll be able to see a lots of package loss going on "mtr -n 2001:db8:1:1::2000" after a few minutes AND at the syslog, you'll be able to see when you lose your IPv6, that come from E1200v2.
    Conclusion
    E1200v2 doesn't have a working IPv6 Router Advertisement service. Please Cisco, fix it!
    The IPv4 from behind E1200v2 is fine, I'm using LinkSys products for about +10 years now... First time with problems like this but, IPv6 is more or like new and, problems are expected... Lets work on it?!

    Try to use dhclient perhaps?  Might I also suggest letting systemd deal with the dhcp issue and not NM.  That may seem incongruous but it is possible NM is mis-handling the dhcp hand-off to the network card.  I'm no guru but I got thinking about this when I saw this in your output:

  • Help, Issues Connecting two Wireless Routers

    Ahead of time I would like to thank everyone for their responses and help. I tried to be as clear as possible. I believe I got all the details right. Some things are repetitive and might be a little confusing,  but please ask questions for any clarification. Thanks  for the help. 
    Current Routers:
    1. Linksys WRT600N ---- Used as primary router. Connected to the 4 ports are 3 PCs and a wireless router. All three PC have static IPs I reservered, also have a static IP reserved for the WGT624 wireless router. DMZ is also enabled and destination is the IP reserved for WGT624. 
    2. Netgear WGT624 ----  WGT624 is connected to WRT600N through  the WAN port on the WGT624 to port number X on the WRT600N . I was using Netgear WGT624 as an access point for a Xbox360 , a couple of macs and  ubuntu netbook.  This router recently died needs to be replaced.
    3. Linksys E3000 ---- Recently purchased to replace the Netgear WGT624 that has died. I want to use this as my new access point. Having trouble setting up the settings for this router. I want the same setup as before. 
    Detailed Problem
    I currently have the WRT600N located in the basement connected to a cable modem through the WAN port. Connected to the 4 ports on the back of WRT600N are 3 PCs and a Wireless router. Most of the settings on the WRT600N I left alone. The only thing I changed was reserving 4 IPs for the 3 PCs and the WGT624 wireless router. I also enabled the DMZ for the destination IP of the WGT624.  I also opened a couple of ports.
    The Netgear WGT624 that died was located on the upper level third floor. I was using it primarily as an access point. It was connected through the WAN port  of the WGT624 to port X on the WRT600N which is located in the basement. Settings on this are a little different. On the WGT624 I disabled the firewall. I left both the Auto DHCP enabled and the DHCP server. WPA was enabled on the WGT624. With these settings on the WGT624 I was able to connect to a xbox 360 and a few macs wirelessly to the internet with no issues .  I also noticed that the the internet IP displayed on the status tab on the WGT624 was the IP I had reserved on the WRT600N.  
    Recently the WGT624 died after  years of usage. So I purchased a Linkys E3000. I want to have a similar setup as before with the WGT624. However I have been running into issues. Wirelessly I cannot get access to the internet through the E3000. The E3000 is connected to the WRT600N in the same was as the WGT624. The WAN port of the E3000 is connected to the port number X of WRT600N.  On the status tab of the E3000 I seem to be getting a strange Internet IP address. 127.0.0.1. This I think is a loopback address, I am not sure? Same with the subnet mask of 255.0.0.0
    So the problem is I want the keep the same setup as before if I can. I don't want to the any computers who connect to the access point to have access to any computers that are connected to the 600N.
    I read on another thread I could connect two wireless routers together by connecting port X on the 600N to port X on the E3000.   Then changing the internal IP of the second router from 192.168.1.1 to 198.168.1.2 and then disabling the DHCP server.
    I really want to keep the same set up as before if posslble. More importantly I want to know why my setup prior, the WRT600N  to the WGT624 worked with no problems. Why could I use the WGT624 as an access point and not the E3000? Should I switch the the two routers use the 600N as the access point and E3000 as my main router?

    1. You have chained two routers. The WRT600N uses LAN IP address 192.168.1.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0. The Netgear is connected with the WAN port to the WRT (thus uses an 192.168.1.* address on the WAN port) and uses 192.168.0.1 by default on the LAN side. Your new E3000, however, uses the Linksys default 192.168.1.1 on the LAN side. If you connect the E3000 to the WRT600 without making any changes it won't work. A router cannot work if WAN and LAN side both use 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0. That's impossible.
    2. Thus, the quick and easy setup to get the same as before would be to change the LAN IP address of the E3000 from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1. After that change you can connect the internet port of the E3000 to the WRT and everything works like before.
    3. However, in particular because you need port forwarding and you do port forwarding through two routers I would recommend not to run two routers chained. I can't see why it is necessary for you to run two routers and two separated networks. The basic setup and an explaination why a different setup may be better is here. I think in your case it would make things much simpler and you have full connectivity between all your computers. You can set up a roaming wireless network, too. The only problem is that you will "loose" one port on the E3000 because you cannot use the internet port.

    Would this also be the same if I was connecting a E1500 router (to expand my home network) to an existing X3000 ADSL router?  The X3000 is great but unfortunately for me the concrete walls of my villa impede the signal strength to the second floor.  I have every room in the villa wired to the X3000.  So if I connect the E1500 to the LAN cable in my bedroom on the second floor, which is connected the X3000, would the instructions you provide here be the same?  Or do they only apply if both routers are ADSL?

    Do any of Linksys routers have the recently popular guest network access feature where you can create a password protected or no password secondary network that provides internet-only access to guests and prevents them from accessing your main network (computers, printers, HDDs etc?). Does Linksys's highest end WRT610N have a similar feature that works slightly differently but does the same thing?

    The computers connected to the guest network will NOT be able to see the computers connected to your home network. Just like what VALETLINKSYS said, the guest network is using another IP range which is 192.168..33.xxx which is totally different from the IP range of the home network - 192.168.1.x.

  • Slow/Erratic Wireless Internet Speeds. Have tried a lot. (Multiple Linksys Routers)

    I just moved into a new house, and now have a 10mb ADSL connection.
    When wired (direct to the modem, or through routers) my speeds are fine.
    But when on wireless, they are very erratic. I use a local speedtest site, and when wired it will get up to the correct speed quickly and stay there till test concludes. But on wireless, it will sometimes do that, but 90% of the time it will slowly get up to speed, drop a few Mb's, maybe stay at half speed, maybe go back up, etc....
    I have 4 linksys routers (no not all in use currently), 2 WRT54G's, WRT54G2, and a WRT160n.
    I have two laptops, one running a Dell 1490 card (Broadcom) and a HP Tablet running a N card (it is broadcom, will have to look up the model). Have tested multiple OS's (XP, Vista, 7).
    Nothing seems to make a difference, so problem between all routers. I have tried changing channels to no avail. But other than that, I am not familiar with "fine tuning" as I have never had to in the past.
    Any suggestions would be awesome!

    Sometimes, firmware make a reat difference...Its a real coincidence that you are facing the wireless connectivity problem with all the 4 router's you have.However you try upgrading your router's firmware and try to reconfigure it from the scratch and hopefully it should work...
    Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
    Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
    Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
    In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
    Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
    Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
    Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Intel MacBook Connecting to Linksys Router

    Hey Discussions,
    I'm getting ready to purchase a MacBook. Currently, my setup is a G4 Mac mini that is wirelessly connected to a Belkin repeater (which is repeating the signal of a Linksys router). I've heard rumblings that Linksys routers are being funny with the new Intel processors. Now, since I do have that repeater and since the repeater creates a new wireless network in addition to the weaker Linksys one in my present location, would I have any problems getting the MacBook to connect to either of the wireless networks? This sounds like a problem that will have to be solved by experience.

    Hmmm...I hope it will be simple. But I don't know if the fact that I have that repeater creating an entirely new network will be to my advantage or disadvantage. I guess we'll find that out on Friday!

  • Limited or no connectivity BS

    I have looked at all the different posts regarding this problem, and I fail to find ANYONE who can actually solve this problem.
    I do not have 2.4Ghz phones that could interfere with the router I have (model BEFW11S4).
    My closest neighbor is about 150 yards away.
    I am nowhere near a radar installation.
    I can connect with this laptop to any other wireless network I have encountered.
    Signal strength is excellent (the router is 6 feet from me)
    I have only 2 wireless devices (laptops), and I have 2 wired devices (printer and WII) connected to it.
    What will it take to resolve this? Switch to someone else's product (apparently Cisco does not care)

    Tutorial was no help. These are all things that I had already tried or ruled out.
    FYI, I am able to connect, sometimes. But tomorrow I could turn on the PC and get a Limited or no connectivity message. I have tried restarting my laptop at that time, which does not help. The only thing that helps is to power cycle the router.

  • WRT54G - Limited or no connectivity error

    My wireless network had been working fine for about 2 months. About a week ago I started to experience an intermittent problem.  I will get an error message on the wireless network icon in the windows icon tray that I have "limited or no connectivity".  The signal strength remains "excellent" and the speed is 54.0 Mbs.  I will sometimes also get a message that there is an IP conflict on the network.  The computer that is wired to the router continues to have internet access.  The problem appears to affect only the wirelessly connected computer.  
    Powering down and then back up the entire network does not resolve the problem.  One night I went to bed with the error occurring, but the next morning things were working. It worked for a few hours, but when I returned in the evening the problem had returned.
    I need help before I have to scrap another wireless router.

    Are you using any fixed LAN IP addresses on your network.  If so, please list the the fixed LAN IP addresses that you are using, and also state your DHCP server range.
    Also, are you running an open (unencrypted) wireless network?

  • BEFW11S4 Limited or no Connectivity. Cant Even Get On Internet.

    Hello everyone,
    I'm having a problem i've just unboxed my Wireless router and i've tried to install it multiple times. I connect everything like it says, The Modem To The Router To the Computer, The lights are all there and flashing. I try to get onto the internet and it says limited or no connectivity. So i'm guessing from the router to the computer its not reading or maybe it is i dont know. I'm not sure what is going on and i'm very frustrated could anyone help me? I've tried the wizard multiple times to set it up and it wont work. I've tried typing the IP 192.168.1.1 after setting all the wires up and i cant even connect to that. I go into my network connections and all i have is LAN i dont have a Wireless one. Any help would be appreciated thank you.
    P.S. When i first tried the setup wizard i was able to get pretty far and setting everything up and at the end it said something like IP Conflict or something and couldnt finish the wizard, That only happend once so i'm not sure what thats all about.

    Do not run the CD...Connect the modem to the router on internet port and the computer to the router on ethernet port...reset the router for 1 minute,power cycle the router...Now,go to command prompt and check the ip address on the computer.If you getting the ip address 192.168.1.x and gateway as 192.168.1.1 then,try to ping the gateway...if you are getting 4 replies then, configure the router.

  • Verizon DSL modem not connecting through Linksys wrt54g

    I recently switched to verizon DSL from comcast. The verizon modem when connected directly to the back of my mac works amazingly well. Now i was to be able to connect with my laptop and xbox360 wirelessly which was not a problem with comcast. So i take the Ethernet/Data/Modem cable(what ever you want to call it) from the modem and connect it to the INTERNET port on the back of the router. Then take another ETHERNET cable and connect it from the first WAN port to the back of my computer where the modem was originally directly connected. The routers internet light is on as is first ethernet light on the front of the router. And all three lights on the modem are on; internet, data, and dsl. The macintosh is now not able to connect to the internet. The laptop can connect to the network but not to the internet.(says local only) It seems like a lot of people have had this same problem but i have yet to see a solution. and again when i take the cord from the modem to the router and change it back to connecting the modem directly with the home computer (mac) the internet works fine. I know this seems very dumbed-down and a dumbed-down kind of answer is preferred. I have been fixing problems with our home network for years now and have never come across something that stumped me while the solution seems like it would be so simple.

    If you have Verizon DSL and you wish to configure your router and connect the XBOX360 wirelessly, then, first thing you should do is to fully bridge your modem, then connect your modem to the internet port of the router and configure your router's internet connection type to PPPoE...
    Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
    When the router’s web-based setup page appears, click Setup then look for Internet Connection Type and select PPPoE on the drop-down arrow.
    Enter the username and password that your ISP provided you in the User Name and Password fields, including the domain in the username if necessary such as [email protected] and CLick Save Settings.
    Click Status then look for Login Status and check it says Connected. If it’s connected, you should be able to access the Internet.
    NOTE: If the Login Status says Disconnected, click Connect, then check if you’re receiving an error message.

    For xbox -
    Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
    3) Click on set-up and change the MTU Size to 1452 and click Save Settings...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox
    IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox
    Primary dns :- 4.2.2.2...Secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...
    IP Address: 192.168.X.[last part of ip in your device]    e.g. if static ip given to the device was 192.168.X.10 get the last part and put that to the empty box.

  • WRT54G - Limited or no connectivity

    I  have a WRT54G that was set up and working great for the past two weeks.
    Last night I had problems connecting via my Laptop and today I cannot connect through my hardwired desktop.  On the desktop I get the message "Limited or no connectivity."
    If I remove the router from the system and wire the desktop directly to the modem I regain Internet Access - so the problem has to be with the router, not the ISP.
    I read some of the other posts and tried to access the router through the #1 port using the default IP of http://192.168.1.1 and using the password of admin.  If I leave the user name blank and input admin as the password I get a screen that indicates that I do not have authorization to enter.....
    Any ideas?  Thanks in advance and have a great Thanksgiving.

    Yes, I used the CD that came with the router. 
    During the installation the CD installed the Linksys Easy Link program. 
    When I tried to use the Easy Link program this morning to fix the problem it didn't seem to recognize the previous settiing and wanted me to start zt the beginning and name the network, etc.  I followed these steps with no success - the end result was a message indicating that the program did not support my router.
    Is it a hardware problem?
