Limited universal app HP print menu options

Just bought a new MacBook Pro and use an HP Photosmart 8750 and a Canon BJ-85. No problems using the Canon -- plugged it in and I was ready to go. Even though the HP is on the Intel Mac supported printer list, there was no photosmart print drivers found in the Print Browser besides the gimp (which did not work). I went to the HP web site and downloaded/installed the 8750 driver (version 3.1) with no problems. When I'm using non-universal apps like Photoshop CS2, I have plenty of print menu options: copies, layout, scheduler, paper handling, color sync, paper type/quality... and it prints beautifully. When I'm in universal apps like Lightroom/iPhoto I have very limited print options and the output is terrible -- almost like draft mode. Apple shows that the HP is an included driver with Tiger with version 3.3. Can I get that version somewhere or is this an HP problem?

The driver you're looking for is part of Hewlett-Packard installer package for Tiger. It's an optional install, so when you install OS X, that's not part of the basic installation.
To install it, insert your Optional Installs disk and locate the Printer Drivers option; click the disclosure triangle next to it to reveal all the optional printer drivers, and select the model(s) you want and be sure all others are de-selected. Proceed to install as normal.

It is an eMac. I have a corrupted font book. How can I fix/re-install/or download a new font book app? Most fonts that were in it work, some do not, but I cannot open it nor can I install fonts into it. This happened after the eMac OS was upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.11 and AI was upgraded to CS2

CD DVD print size is missing from Apple print menu options

I wonder if anyone has this same problem I'm trying to fix. Thanks for you input, is much appreciated.
When I bought my Canon Pixma MG 5350 that can print over blank printable CD or DVD, there was an option to choose the CD / DVD size. You could even choose to print 120 or 80 mm sizes. But after a while when I went back to print a DVD, those sizes were gone for good and there was only one size labeled something like "Disk tray G" (my system is not in English so it can be different for you).
I tried it although I didn't know how would this succeed if I had to print a small DVD and it failed. A portion of the DVD was not printed and left blank because the DVD position was moved away from the real tray size, so there was this portion not printed in the DVD but printed over the tray plastic!
I reseted the printer configuration, tried to update it and everything possible but CD / DVD sizes are just gone. I can print using the Canon software, however I'd like to use Apple printer dialog as I'd like to print from Photoshop, Illustrator, Pages etc. directly. My solution now is to export an image and print using the Canon software but this is not how it worked before.
I contacted Canon about this and they are "investigating" this. As the problem is in the generic print options in the System maybe this can be a driver problem or a change. It happens in both an iMac and a Macbook with OSX 10.9.4, everything is updated and working normally. Printer has the latest firmware and software and I reseted the print configuration in the Mac, also reseted the printer to factory defaults, etc.
Does this happen to anyone trying to print CD / DVD from the System print options? Thank you.

As far as I know, you can only print CD/DVD's on Canon's MG and MX series from Canon's Easy PhotoPrint or Image Garden applications. I've never seen a way to print from non-Canon applications. So I would say that what you are experiencing is specification and I would be interested to read if Canon came back to you with a solution.

Problems in Limiting Export option in Web Analysis shortcut menu options

Hi everyone,
i'm trying to limit the shortcut menù option in Web Analysis studio following the instructions in the WA 9.3.1 user guide: "Limiting Web Analysis Studio Shortcut Menu Options" page 293. Exactly i would hyde the Export to some users (an user with Viewer and Expoler permissions).
The problem is that the solution does not work.
Resuming:
First, I have created the WAMenu.xml file, with restrictions for the roles: Viewer and Explorer (using the same tags of the Sample XML File in the guide)
Second, I have modified the WebAnalysis.properties file removing the # ahead this two lines:
"WAStudioMenuControl= C:/Hyperion/Analyzer/conf/WAMenu.xml
ModuleName=WebAnalysisStudio"
and modified the path with the correct location of the XML file.
At last, i have restart the services regarding Workspace and Web Analysis.
But, it does not work. The user can still see the export options in the shortcut menu..I don't understand what is wrong..
I really hope that someone can help me!!

Unfortunately it doesn't restrict neither in the workspace nor in the WA studio.
I made a lot of attempts, not only with export but also with other option, and there are no changes!!
Do you remember if you made the same steps descripted above, or there is something that i did not make (or made wrong)??

Redundant post - however the topic (title) is different to point out the potential of adding translation for right-click to universal app input controls. The part about a solution for translation is in bold at the bottom of this post ...
Bug: Universal app input controls (i.e. Start Menu, Task view buttons) ignoring and missing interpretation translating right-click to a left-click to activate context (menu) in universal app web style (similar to oo context menu for oo legacy style).
Bug: Task view: OO context menu: Should show "nothing" (like right-click Start Menu button) - but right click Task view shows the oo context menu for the Task bar (wrong context)
Besides behaving wrongly (should be like right clicking the Start button) ....
the problem is the user is likely to look for actions on that context menu.
However to activate the context menu for this universal app kind of behavior you actually need to left-click the button for the Task view ... and then you get the universal app like context menu.
Microsoft must have been trying to figure out what to do about this kind of voupling mismatch between legacy (right-click) and universal app (left-click) conmtext menus. confusing for users it weill become nevertheless.
But the left-click style supports touch.
One solution though is to support right-click on i.e. Task view and Start button. Thus for new kind (universal app kind-of)input controls - right-click will work (instead of just being ignored) just like left-click. Allthough not a correct left-click
- it will be helpful and interpretive translating the intension of receiving a context. A practical solution with right-click translating into left-click for universal app controls considering that the context menu actually has become a hybrid of left-click
and right-click (with a precedence for left-click though)

App.execMenuItem("Print") Not Working in Reader 9.1

I have a 15 page PDF form with a print button that leverages the following line of Javascript to invoke Reader's printing menu option:
app.execMenuItem("Print");
In prior version fo reader (7, 8 and even 9.0) this works properly. However, now in 9.1, I receive a dialog when I try to print stating that no pages were selected to print. This only occurs in 9.1.
Did something change with the printing capabilities with the 9.1 reader release? If so, how can I achieve this functionality?

In LC Designer, there is a standard script in the Print button:
xfa.host.print(1, "0", (xfa.host.numPages -1).toString(), 0, 0, 0, 0, 0);
The second parameter tells Acrobat the start page and the third parameter sets the last page to be printed (both are based on a zero page numbering system). The help file sets out the different parameters.
In AcroForms the following should print:
this.print({nStart: 0, nEnd: 7, bShrinkToFit: true});

Disable 'Preprint Tag' menu option in WCT7 for WCD printing

All,
We have a requirement for disabling the menu option in WCT7 -
In the WCD Item Maintenance screen, if we goto
Menu - Edit->Print->Preprint Tag.
We want to disable the option 'Preprint Tag'.
The problem is when user tries to 'Preprint Tag', it prints the WCD and directly moves from ITG to ETG, instead of going to PTG status. Hence user wants this button to be disabled.
Is there any suitable menu exit or enhancement point for this requirement? Is there any authorization object that can be used? Has anyone worked on this requirement before?
Any pointers in this direction are appreciated.

you don't happen to have a sample or something? I tried to implement the hideMenuItem like it is described in the Acrobat scripting reference, but I still got the 'NotAllowedError'. I really find it confusing because some things of the Acrobat scripting is also working in Designer, others are not. Do you know if there is a documentation about this, like which Acrobat function can be used in Designer, which not, and which Acrobat function is named different in Designer, etc.?

German menu options in the app store instead of English

When I select the app store icon on my iPad main screen, I am taken to the US based app store, however all menu options are in German. The apps themselves are still US based and still in US currency I.e I do not have Germany selected as my country otherwise they would be German apps. I want US everything. I bought my iPad 2 weeks ago and is been like this since I started it. iTunes on the other hand is completely in English.
1. my language preference is set to english within the iPad itself.
2. I have changed iTunes language preferences to English
3. I have ensured the flag in the bottom corner is US not Germany
4. My credit card account is US based and I have a US address
5. I have made all language changes on my laptop and synced.
Does anyone have any suggestion as to how to change these menu options to English instead of German? Thx

Thanks for your quick reply.   I have purchsed iPhoto 9.5.   And I downloaded and installed the Library Upgrader 1.1, before first opening the newly installed iPhoto 9.5 (as recommended). I can tell that iPhoto 9.5 has been installed - as the icon is now blue (and not organe/red).
Then I tried to open iPhoto, and received a notification - that I must first install the Library Upgrader 1.1.   I restarted the MacBook.   Tried again.   Same notification messages.   I downloaded (and installed) the Library Upgrader 1.1, again.   Restarted the MacBook.   Tried to open iPhoto again.   Same notification messages.
These notifications give me only 2 options - to QUIT iPhoto or to "Learn More" about the download of the Library Upgrader (and a link to do so).
One observation that might be a part of the issue (or the diagnosis).   The system requirements cited on the download page indicate the following... and NOT OS X Mavericks.
OS X Lion 10.7
OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or later
Any suggestions on how I might get iPhoto to work??   THANKS!!

Almost no paper options in PS print menu

I'm using Photoshop CC on a Mac yosemite and want to print on transparencies. However the print menu only lets me choose photo paper or plain paper (with different qualities).
How do I get more options for different kinds of paper like vellum or transparencies? My printer is a HP Photosmart.

That's entirely up to your printer driver, but with such generic info nobody will be able to point you in the right direction. HP do not produce jsut one printer, you know, nor do we know anything about your exact print settings, how the printer is connected and so on...

I have lost the photoshop manages color option from my print menu in CS6.

I have lost the photoshop manages color option from my print menu in CS6. It now has colorsync manages color as an option along with printer manages color. I don't know how to reverse this and I can no longer use my printer with any assurance of accurate color.

Assuming you have not gone to a newer version of WORD and it is just an update issue, then you should be able to go to the addins in the options of word and enable Acrobat. Sometimes the updates of WORD seem to disable the plugin. Note that the plugin is PDF Maker and shows up in the save as menu as well as an Adobe menu item in WORD. The printer is a separate process and does no require activation.
A repair of Acrobat may also solve the problem.

Need help - Print Menue in Acrobat Pro and Standard

at first, i have to apologize for my bad englisch because I'm german.
I downloaded a Trial of Acrobat pro and there I hava an extended Print menue where I can choose individual Color Profiles.
There is an image attached.
But I don't really need the Acobat pro Features, because I need Acrobat only for Color Printing on my Printer. And it ist expensive.
So my Question to you is: Is this extended Print menue also in Acobat 9 Standard?
There is no Trial, so that I hope, that someone can help me.
Can I also set this settings in Acrobat 9 Standard?

The Advanced Print menu in 9 Standard does not have all of the options that are in your screen shot.
Checked with a coworker who has 9 Standard, and the options are much more limited. (I have 8 Pro).
Bad news is you would need 9 Pro.

Welcome to Apple discussions. I see this is your very first post here on iDvd forums. As already stated, most of us can't read minds. But I'll go ahead and assume you are trying to make the slide show within iDvd and not elsewhere like iMovie for example (where you might have better luck if you haven't already tried that). iMovie is a very viable option (no 99 photo limits) as are other apps (Roxio /Fotomagico, Photo to Movie) you'll find mentioned throughout this forum. However most are 3rd party and thus are not free. So I'll try and stay with those you likely already have ... hence the iMovie recommendation.
If iDvd's slideshow function is not performing as expected (not hi-lighting the button/s as expected) and you haven't exceeded 99 images and have played by all the other rules mention in the Help Menu; then it's time to disposed of iDvd's plist
Go to your HOME folder (the one that looks like a house) > Library > Preferences
over to:
com.apple.iDvd.plist
and get rid of of it by dragging and dropping to the trash ...
followed by a complete restart of your mac. Thereafter you need to repair permissions from apple's disc utility (within applications > Utilities > Disc Utility), and again restart the app.

There's a work around that may help you. The Mac OS X has "accessibity" features installed that can assist in viewing text.
Open System Preferences then select Universal Access then select the Seeing tab.
Zoom settings are available there.

If you are not aware, when viewing Safari webpages, you can press Command + (plus) or Command - (minus) to adjust the size of the page.
For zooming text only, click View from the Safari menu bar then from the drop down menu click Zoom Text Only.
