Limiting items displayed in a region (902)

I want to limit the number of items displayed in an item region in Portal 902 so that a next and previous button to appear (like they did for categories and perspective portlets in 309) so that the full list can be navigated through without having a massive scrollable HTML page displayed.
I thought this was going to be a feature in 902, but I cannot seem to find it.
Cheers,
John

I don't remember hearing that this was going to be a feature for item regions.
You can use the custom search portlet to autoquery a list of items. Set the maximum number of items in the result list, and the portlet will pageinate the overflow.

  • How to display RTE item in a HTML region

I have a process that is populating a hidden item with a RTE item from another page. I need to display this in its formatted state. I am using an HTML region to display this item but the page shows HTML tags instead of rendering them. I have tried both options under html region (escape special characters and plain HTML text).
Can someone please help me to display this formatted RTE item on a page? Btw...I am using APEX 4.0.
    Thanks.

  • Javascript on Button displayed among this region's items?

    Hello,
I have implemented Javascripts to used manual LOV, has well describe in "How To", and everything work well.
    I now want to put a button in my LOV page to return back a fix value to the calling page/item. From this button, I'm calling the javascript javascript:passBack('fix_value');
If I put this javascript in URL Target of a region button, it is working well.
But position of the button is not what I want. If I try to use a "button among region items" and I define a branching with URL target equal to the same javascript, I get a page not found error.
Is there an easy solution for this?
    Thank you
    Jean

check out whether this helps you.....
when we create a button then automatically javascript:doSubmit("request") function gets attached to it and in this function , current page is submitted.
If you have created the button among the region items , then i am pretty much sure that you wanted to display this button adjacent to some item (let us say A ) in the region
If above assumption is right then i think it is better to use a IMG tag (displaying the button ) in < Post Element Text > of item A instead of creating the button in the region...
e.g then you can put the same in <Post Elment Text > of item A of the region
    <IMG SRC="img src"
    alt="Query" border="0" align="bottom left"
    onclick = "<call javascript>">
    here you can
    1. use HREF to redirect ....then no need of javascript function
    2. put "#" in HREF and use a javascript function to re-direct...
i have used this approach extensively and it works fine ...plus it gives you freedom to exactly place the button where you wanted on ur page ...
P.S. i tried creating doSubmit(request) function on the page and thought that this function might override the HTMLDB's doSubmit function ..but it did not work

  • Button displayed among this region's items clears fields

I've created a Button displayed among this region's items clears fields that's in the middle of my form, set to Submit Before...
When click the button, it submits and the field items above the button clear off the form.
I don't need it to submit, I just need it to make three fields appear on the form if needed, hence the use of the button.
    Thanks in advance!

The user is cataloging documents. On the form she enters document number, title, owner, and document type (Work Instruction, Verification Sheet, Pallet Layout, etc.) If the document type is a Product Label, there are three more fields that need to be populated. Because the Product Label is one of over ten types and it's the only type that requires these extra fields, I got the bright idea to create a button that, when clicked, displays the fields.
The problem is that the button is 'among the region's items' and submits when clicked (Request = Go) so it submits and clears the fields that have been populated prior to the fields in question.Assuming you are on Apex 4.0+ Instead of using buttons to display 3 extra fields when document type is product label use dynamic action to hide and show items, Here is how you create it
    1) Create standard dynamic action
    2) Selection type (item) -> item(s) -> :PXX_DOCUMENT_TYPE -> Value (20) Assuming you have created select list for document type field
    3) Specify true action -> show -> item(s) (select the three items you want to display) -> create false action (checked)
By using DA your field values will not clear out.If you are on 3.0 you can do this with javaScript.
It would be easier to help you out if you provide APEX version or recreate your problem on apex.oracle.com

  • How to display the items in a Report Region

Is it possiable to have the fields in a report region based on an sql query be display in somthing other than a row? For example if I have a Report Region with four columns it will look something like:
    <Field 1, row 1 value> <Field 2, row 1 value> <Field 3, row 1 value> <Field 4, row 1 value>
    <Field 1, row 2 value> <Field 2, row 2 value> <Field 3, row 2 value> <Field 4, row 2 value>
    <Field 1, row 3 value> <Field 2, row 3 value> <Field 3, row 3 value> <Field 4, row 3 value>
    etc
Is it possiable to tell ApEx to display the Report Region like:
    <Field 1, row 1 value> <Field 2, row 1 value>
    <Field 3, row 1 value> <Field 4, row 1 value>
    <Field 1, row 2 value> <Field 2, row 2 value>
    <Field 3, row 2 value> <Field 4, row 2 value>
    <Field 1, row 3 value> <Field 2, row 3 value>
    <Field 3, row 3 value> <Field 4, row 3 value>
    etc
Maybe there is a nother way to do this that uses somthing other than an sql based report region. Thanks very much for the help.

This can be done using a SQL query report region with a [custom report template|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/themes.htm#sthref1744].
Unfortunately the documentation is not particularly helpful on this topic, and as use cases tend to be very specific, reusable solutions are rarely shared in the community ("custom" reports after all...) See [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1569996] for a good discussion of the technique, with a link to an example on apex.oracle.com.
A response to [another recent thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1012690] showed another example on page 1 of the [Online Store demo app|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/packaged_apps/packaged_apps.html#STORE], which you can download, install and examine. This uses a custom report template in conjunction with the report HTML Expression feature.
(I'm not totally clear on the display you're after: it might help to repost it using some example data rather than the abstract <Field 2, row 1 value> approach. Wrap the sample in \...\ tags to get fixed width characters that can be made to align, if that will help.)

  • Adding Message Choice Item in a Table Region

    Hi,
In the Oracle Sales Dashborad page there is a Table Region which shows the list of all the opportunities details like Name,Close Date etc.Now my requirement is to create a new Message Choice item in the table region as a new column(Opportunity Status).I have created that using the personalize feature of that table and have provided the following details
    Picklist View Instance:oracle.apps.asn.opportunity.poplist.server.OpportunityOpenStatusesVO
    Picklist Value Attribute:StatusCode
    Picklist Display Attribute:Meaning
    View Instance:OpptySearchVO1
    View Attribute:OpptyStatusName
When the dashboard page loads it shows all other fields as fetched from the Database apart from this newly added Message Choice item. For all the rows this field shows blanc values.
Is it because the Display value(Meaning) and the value gets stored in the DB(StatusCode) are Different for this message choice item? Please help me out to resolve this issue.
If i need to populate each row for this message item explicitly how can i get handle of this message choice item(in the Table region) for each row and then set the value dynamically?
    Thanks
    Subha

  • How do I reference items in a report region

I've created a report. You can view the region attributes at http://i3.tinypic.com/wcn59h.jpg.
I've changed the "Display As" attribute of one of the items (QUAN_ID) to 'Select List (query based LOV)'. I've set the "LOV Query" attribute on this item to the following.
    select quan.answer_txt
    , quan.id
    from vug_question_answers quan
    , vug_survey_questions suqu
    where suqu.id = quan.suqu_id
    and suqu.surv_id = :p33_surv_id
    --and    suqu.id = :suqu_id
    order by quan.question_answer_seq_no
The purpose of this LOV is to return QUESTION_ANSWERS that have a foreign key to the SURVEY_QUESTIONS record identified by the sufu_id. The bind-variable ":p33_surv_id" is a page item. I THOUGHT the bind-variable ":suqu_id" (referenced in the commented-out line) would be the name of a column item in my report region. However, the LOV doesn't return correct values if I uncomment the line containing :SUQU_ID.
How do I determine the name of the report region column item so that I can reference it within the LOV of another item in the same region?
    Thanks,
    -Ken

    Ivo,
    That's it!
My original tabular form query read as follows.
    select rean.id,
    rean.resp_id,
    suqu.surv_id,
    suqu.question_txt,
    quan.suqu_id,
rean.quan_id, --this is the column I was adding an LOV to
    rean.entered_by,
    rean.entered_on,
    rean.updated_by,
    rean.updated_on
    from vug_respondent_answers rean
    , vug_question_answers quan
    , vug_survey_questions suqu
    where rean.resp_id = :p33_resp_id
    and quan.id = rean.quan_id
    and suqu.id = quan.suqu_id
    and suqu.surv_id = :p33_surv_id
I've changed it to the following.
    select rean.id,
    rean.resp_id,
    suqu.surv_id,
    suqu.question_txt,
    quan.suqu_id,
    htmldb_item.select_list_from_query
    ( 6
    , rean.quan_id
    , 'select quan.answer_txt, quan.id from vug_question_answers quan, vug_survey_questions suqu where suqu.id = quan.suqu_id and suqu.surv_id = :p33_surv_id and suqu.id = '|| suqu.id ||' order by quan.question_answer_seq_no') quan_id,
    rean.entered_by,
    rean.entered_on,
    rean.updated_by,
    rean.updated_on
    from vug_respondent_answers rean
    , vug_question_answers quan
    , vug_survey_questions suqu
    where rean.resp_id = :p33_resp_id
    and quan.id = rean.quan_id
    and suqu.id = quan.suqu_id
    and suqu.surv_id = :p33_surv_id
My screen now looks as found at http://i3.tinypic.com/wgq4g9.jpg. (Note that I've also changed the question since a previous post.)

I have a Common REGION (It's a Select criteria with lot of lov's) and I want to display the same Region with every items on the TOP of all the Pages (1,2,3, .....) within same Application ID.

    thanks..

    thaks..
also if I want to avoid some of the pages..how can I do that.
I mean, I have page 1,2,3,4 & 5. I want the common region to be displayed only on Page 1,3 & 5, Can I give the condition in Page 0 to display on particular pages.

  • How to Refer Application item in the html region

    Hi All,
I have region which says 'Data was refereshed on 12-Apr-2010'. This is displayed in many pages. I want to reduce the manual work of going into each and every page and editing the date.
I have created an Application Item in shared components. Can anyone help me how to refer this application item in the html region?
    Thanks,
    Vikas

You can use the syntax of : &<ITEM_NAME>.
i.e. say I have an application item MY_NAME , I would then have a html region which has the following
    <p>My name is &MY_NAME.</p>see: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/concept.htm#BEICHBBG

  • Missing Shortcut under Conditionnal Item Display in popup window

Just under each Condition Type in APEX, we have nice Shortcut Like [PL/SQL] [item=value] [item not null]...
Do you know why you dont put these shortcuts in the popup windows in Conditional Item Display region when you active the Edit Links on the yellow bar ?
    I'm think is missing.

  • Item Display Options in Portal

    Hi all
    I have Oracle Portal 10.1.4.
In home Page I have Region
type is Items. its contents as files (like : WordFiles ).
when I want to Sort this Region it has only ( title & size ).
    Edit Item Region
    Item Display Options
How sort items by ( Create Date )?

Hi 554264: While the sort box does not have date as an option, you can group by date and then within each date group, sort by title or size. If you leave the group by titles off, I think this will give you the desired affect transparently.
    Give it a try!

  • How to display 2 list regions in one line side by side?

    Hi,
I've created 2 list regions and a breadcrumb reagion.
The breadcrumb region should be displayed on the left hand side, the 2 list regions should be displayed in the same line, side by side on the right hand side of the page.
All 3 are to be displayed in Region Position 1.
To one list reagion a few buttons are assigned as well.
If I now set the display point of both list regions to 'Page Template Region Position 1' the page structure breaks and the items of the one region dsiplayed not side by side but among each other.
Any hints what is goin' wrong here?
    Thank you!!!

  • GL & Vendor Line Item Display

    Dear Forum,
The users want to display the Vendor Codes in the GL Line Item Display to reflect the corresponding vendor related to the expense in the GL line item and also want the GL Code to be displayed in the Vendor Line Item to reflect the nature of expense incurred thru that vendor. Are there any standard reports that could provide the details in this manner. Oherwsie how could we change the layout of the GL and Vendor line item Reports.
    Thanks for the help.
    Regards,
Moderator: Please, search SDN before posting. This question has been answered 2-3 times only last week, not speaking about more recent period (as already mentioned by our SAP colleague)

    HEllo,
In flb3n you can  do this by using the offsetting account logic which is explained in details in the SAP Note 112312.
This way you can see vendor/customer information in the Line items report for GL ACcounts.
This issue has been discussed several times before. If you search the forum you'll see the replies.
