Limiting network bandwith for SAP printing

We are usinge ERP 6.0 (Win / MSSQL).  One of the issues we are facing is that SAP printing take too much network bandwith.
Our network bandwith between Datacenter and office is 1Mbps.
Is ther any way to limit the use of network bandwith for SAP printing. Let's say up to 30 % of bandwith is assigned to SAP printing.
Thanks.

Hi,
I am not aware of such way to "assign" bandwidth. For this reason you need to do precise network capacity planning and start the printing only when you do not have a peak of other important activities.
Best regards.

  • Network sizing for SAP printing

    Dear all,
We are in the midst of sizing network bandwidth requirement for SAP implementation which involves some remote locations. Actually Iu2019ve gone through the documentation (Front-End Network Requirements for SAP Business Solutions), and found the way of calculating the network requirements based on number of users (C = N * D * X * 0.25 formula), however Iu2019m not sure if the formula does include the SAP printing bandwidth requirement. Appreciate if you can shed some lights on SAP printing network sizing guide or sort.
    Best regards

    Thanks Susanne,
Understand we need to rely on the information on how much the printing requirement is to come up with the estimation on SAP printing bandwidth requirement.
Perhaps you have some experience on the size of 1 page of SAP printlist (plain text) ? Is it safe to have assumption that 1 page of print list would have 20-30 KB in size? And ones with pictures/logos are 100-200KB in size?

  • Experiences / limitations with EhP2 for SAP NetWeaver

    Dear experts,
I've a question regarding your experiences with the EhP2 for SAP NetWeaver. We need to install EhP4 for our SEM-BCS component; but herefor it's necessary to install EhP2 on the BI component.
Did somebody knows if there are any restrictions with transports from an EhP2-BW to an EhP1-BW?
Thank you very much for any reply or link,
    Clemens

    Hi
Thanks. So that will be PI 7.2 then? When you said that I recall that I have heard of 7.2 version, should be coming our way within 2010 I think...Do you know if there are any information related to that somewhere?
    Thanks again.

  • Crystal Reports for SAP Print Output requirements like Sales Order O/P

    Hello,
Has anybody used Crystal Reports for Sales Order or Invoice Print Output type requirements?
Typically these outputs get triggered via Output Management Configuration on Save of a Sales Order or Configuration.
Traditionally in the Output Management configuration of say Sales Order, we can specify the "Output Program" and the "Sapscript" or "Smart Form" or "Adobe Form".
How do we tell SAP t trigger a Crystal Report output if it is a feasible way to go?
Also can anybody tell what is SAP's strategic direction for Print Output requirements?
    regards,

    Hi Atul,
Do you have answers for your questions? If so, could you please share?
    Thank you in advance,

  • Network bandwith for oracle

    Hi,
we should size our network (LAN and WAN) bandwidth regarding Oracle database and Oracle Applications that we will install. how to determine Bandwidth ? What is the relation between number of users, number of transactions and bandwidth ? Any Oracle documentation ? Please ?
    Many thanks.

The answer is 'it depends'. It depends on which modules you have purchased, on your user distribution (geographic and role), and ...
Surely you have hired consultants who are familiar with Oracle Applications to do the implementation. They should have information based on your specific configuration and needs.
If nothing else, contact Oracle Sales - your presales consultants have access to that information as well.

  • Left Margin for SAP Printer

    Hi all,
one of our printer is printing with left margin 45mm. how can i reduce this margin to 15mm.
i tried to put negative value in "Horizontal move" under output attributes in SPAD, but seems it does not work.
please provide me the solution as it is very very urgent
    thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Aijaz

lol thank you....but not helpful. I have one. All it says is first line should be flush with left margin and subsequent lines are indented. Already knew that. And with any other system other than MAC I could just click a box that says hanging line but since I have to input the amount myself in this pages system it makes it more difficult.

  • SAP Printing using Berkeley Protocol

    Dear All,
I am very new to SAP. I wanted to know about the settings required for SAP printing using Berkeley protocol.
We have SAP server (which is running in a remote place), client (in our work location) and a printer (in our work location). All are connected to through the same network.
    1. Consider SAP Server IP is IP_X and name is Name_X
    2. Consider SAP client IP is IP_Y and name is Name_Y
    3. Consider printer IP is IP_Z and name is Name_Z
Can any one of you can tell me how to configure the settings so the SAP printing from SAP client is possble through Berkely protocol.
Also, please tell me what all are the pre-requisite required for the settings.

  • HP Deskjet 1280, SAP printer drivers.

We are using an HP Deskjet 1280 for SAP printing. It works fine but cannot print lines on SAP reports containing lines or tables. If you know of any drivers that I should be using for this kind of printer is SAP, I will be very glad to know.
    Thank you in advance.

HP is not supporting this printer in Snow Leopard. You will need to use third party drivers to print. The Gutenprint drivers should already be installed on your system. If not, you can download a copy of the latest version at http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php. These drivers do not support duplex printing.
The other choice is the hpijs package found on the OpenPrinting.org page http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/hpijs.

  • Any kind of bandwith limiting or priority for specific network services ?

I tried IPQoS to limit the bandwith for a ftp-service. This is very well documented in the IPQoS Administration Guide, but it seems to have no effect at all in my lan. The ftp-transfer still consumes all
available bandwith and any other interactive traffic like ssh is slow as hell. I think this is due to the fact that i do not have a diffserv capable router. Is it correct that IPQoS in Solaris 9 only marks packages but don't do anything else ?
    My kstat output says:
    "kstat -m tokenmt"
    module: tokenmt instance: 10
    name: tokenmt statistics class: meterftp
    crtime 171043.6888275
    epackets 0
    green_bits 369888
    green_packets 196
    red_bits 205079496
    red_packets 18160
    snaptime 174628.7017885
    yellow_bits 0
    yellow_packets 0
Nearly all packets are marked red and the target for red packets is markAF31 with dscp_map{0-63:26}.
Strange to see that "kstat -m dscpmk" shows no results at all. This is possible a bug or not well
documented in the IPQoS Administration Guide.
Is there any (other) way to priorize interactive traffic or limit/shape the bandwith for specific services without additional Hardware in my network ?

You may have already resolved your problem, but here is what I've been using -- I'm just recently (like two days ago) trying IPQoS.
As you can see from my code I really restricted bandwith so I could see the reaction, and tested with a specific machine so it wouldn't mess with other stuff. Turn on ftp hash and watch it crawl. I've only tested outgoing so far, but will also test incoming.
We are not using DiffServ on our routers, so I just drop 'red' packets. I'm using yellow just to play and get stats.
Am looking for tools to read the flowacct data when I came across your post.
    good luck!

  • Wireless network connect problem for B209 printer

Install went great until I tried to connect to my network. Got the following (weird) message.
" Your printer has limited connectivity. Your printer address is using IP address 169.254.209.180 which is not compatable with IP address 192.168.1.100 for the PC. Power off your printer and then power on and wait 60 seconds for the printer to acquire an IP address. Then Click retry"
I installed on a XP/SP2 Home system. My other PC's are a XP/SP1 Home system and a Vista/SP1 Home Premium.
What does that message mean and how can I get back on track.
I did suceed in installing using the USB connection.
    Any help is appreciated!!!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

What that means is that your printer is not connected to your wireless router.
Since your USB connection is working, follow the directions (Change the HP Photosmart from a USB connection to a
network connection) on page 3 of this.

  • HP LaserJet Printer Network Replacement for AppleTalk

Have found the fix for making the HP LaserJet 2100 TN work on an Ethernet network with Snow Leopard OS. The key was finding the address of the LaserJet on the network. This was done by holding down the two buttons on the top of the printer simultaneously for five seconds. This causes a ‘JetDirect Configuration Page” to print. On that is the IP Address of the printer.
With that information, open the ‘Print and Fax” page of the Systems Preferences. Under the list of printers click the ‘+’ sign. This open a dialogue box. Click the ‘IP’ icon at the top. Under Protocol, chose HP Jetdirect – Socket. In the Address space enter the IP Address of the printer. In the Name space enter ‘HP LaserJet 2100 Series’. You may have to select the print driver from the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page, or it might self select. Then click ‘Add’.
    Should do it.
This is all caused by Apple not including AppleTalk support in Snow Leopard. The process could work for other printers.

Just keep in mind that if there is not a permanent address assigned to the printer, if the network resets itself for whatever reason, there may be a new address assigned to it, and you will have to go through this process again. You should be able to configure a permanent address for the printer to avoid that problem. Check with the documents for the printer or the print server. You can also reserve addresses through your router so that address will not be assigned to another device.

  • My Epson XP - 400 will not print wirelessly or via USB. The documents just sits in the print queue while the computer is "searching for the printer".  I set up the printer on the computer and it is connected to the wireless network.

I'm unable to print wirelessly or connected via USB with my Epson XP-400. The computer continues to say it's searching for the printer even though the printer is set up on the computer, the printer is connected to the wireless network and the USB is plugged into the computer.

Try resetting your Mac's printing system as shown here:
