Limiting what appears in an LOV

Hello Discoverer Community,
I currently have an LOV that contains 193 items. The LOV starts with the first element in this view and lists them all in descending order. The problem is most of the time you want to start from the middle of the LOV not the begining. Second problem is the table that is populated in the database side that this LOV is based on, has dates going into the future which is not needed by my warehouse. Since the product that is delivered for Discoverer does this, might it be wise to change the View that this LOV is based off of so that what I dont want in the past in future to display is limited? The downfall I can see is if the user wants to enter something that has been screened out VIA the view, they would need to hand enter it into the list of potential other values they have selected from the LOV. Are then any other issues? Is there a way to simply change the existing LOV so that when it pulls up in the interface it goes to the value that is in the middle of the list? Thanks for the input ahead of time.

Hi,
It is sometimes useful to use database contexts in a condition in the view used by the LOV. The contexts can be changed at login or by another report. Search for SYS_CONTEXT for details of how to do this. If you limit the LOV the user can enter their own values in Disco Plus and Desktop. I don't think you can do that in Disco viewer though.

Lost my ability to control what appears on the menu bar

When I upgraded from 10.8 to 10.8.2, I lost my ability to control what appears in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
For example, Time Machine no longer shows there. When I open the system preferences and check the box that says "Show Time Machine in menu bar", the check mark appears briefly, then disappears. It will disappear as many times as I check it. I tried reinstalling Mountain Lion. When system 10.8 was installed, the menu bar worked. When I repeated the upgrade to 10.8.2, it quit working again.
Any ideas?

Only the song/album/artist info is displayed on the "now playing" screen.
As for lyrics, play any song to which you've added lyrics. Then press the centre button repeatedly until the lyrics appear.

That is Windows malware, and cannot affect your Mac. See:

It may be attached to an e-mail message or could be something that was copied over from a Windows machine via flash drive or something similar. If it is attached to an e-mail message, simply delete the e-mail. (Do not let Sophos, or any other anti-virus software, quarantine the message or attachment! That can corrupt the mailbox that the message resides in.) If it isn't an e-mail message, you can let Sophos quarantine and delete the file or you can delete it yourself.

It would probably be best to attach the iPod to a computer and restore it. This way you'll know it's wiped clean. Then, when you start up the iPod it will ask you for your Apple ID.

Not sure if this is a game or app or not...it shows nothing about it and explains nothing about it...but it is there on the demo video on the apple website for the add to upgrade to ios 5...it shows the user dragging threads and the little icon monster at the bottom of the screen catches them

Yea thats a game called "Cut the Rope" and it can be found in the App Store for $0.99 or you can buy the Lite version for free.

In what appears to be a random occurrence (it has happened at least 3 times) iTunes will "Freeze" I have to shut down the program from the task manager. I am able to open the program, log in, and select an item to watch, once this has been done nothing happens...
Occasionally, the movie will begin to play only without sound.
The most recent time this occurred I literally finished a show, went back to the main screen to select another show and it froze.
Oddly enough, I have noticed that when iTunes acts up so does my shockwave player also...
Any suggestions? I would appreciate any input, and remember I am a novice....

This implies that ODP.NET does NOT need to be installed on a client. However, I cannot find OraOPs9.dll on a machine with Client Release 9.2 installed. Should OraOps?.dll automatically come with a Client installation of 9.2 or higher?
ODP.NET needs to be installed on the client. OraOps9.dll is part of ODP.NET, not the Oracle Client.
Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
If an application is built with 10g ODP.NET, it can be run with 9.2 ODP.NET as long as you do not use any 10g APIs. The new features in 10g ODP.NET are included in the doc and the ODP.NET FAQ for your reference.

Thanks to the-edmeister and cor-el, for speed of response. I had not inadvertently moved the Bookmarks-Toolbar : I was confronted with the situation right after Firefox 9 had installed and unfolded in front of me. At first, the toolbar area looked reassuringly familiar, but when I started normal work, I discovered the lack of tabs and the only reference I could see to TABS was a tiny button inviting me to group tabs (which was unhelpful to say the least, filling up the screen with tiny unreadable windows). Sure, there were tabs forming, but they were invisible, unless I used the group button. Eventually, I was brave enough to use "reset toolbars" and the tabs came back in the way I want them, but it was a traumatic 2-3 hours out of my life. I kept on "adding a new toolbar" to see if I could make use of it; I kept giving them names, but it is impossible to see where the new tool bar is! (the toolbars don't have a little bit to grab at one end). In my opinion, Firefox should not have allowed the Tab Bar and the Bookmarks Toolbar to become caught up with each other - they have completely different functions. I don't think I would like to play around with "Make a new profile"! I was so desperate that I have already downloaded version 3.6 again, ready to install, for if I was unable to resolve the version 9 problems above.

(Assuming you don't have a firmware boot lock set)
First easy step...
1. Shut down the computer if it's on (hold the power button down... until it shuts off)
2. Press the power button
3. Immediately press AND hold the Option key ASAP
Hold until drive option images appear in a single row across the screen. Typically most people running 10.7 or 10.8 will see 2 drive options to boot from: the main volume they usually boot from, and a recovery volume. If your main volume pops up. Use the cursor or arrow keys to highlight/select the main volume and press enter. That should boot your main volume. Let me know what you get from this point... I'll give you more as you go along.

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Back up all data.

Good morning.
I'm so hoping that someone has an easy solution to this printing issue.
In PSE6, I've created 85 scrapbook poem pages in the following format: 300 dpi; 12 x 12 size that will be reduced to a print size of 8 x8.
I worked all summer on this project for my 98-year young grandma who is the author of these poems. Gram is spry and healthy, but given her age, we are both concerned that it will take a long time to remedy the problem - if the only solution to lighten is to go through each layer of all 85 pages and reset the light intensity. As she says in jest, "time" is really not on her side. This is our second poem book project - the first was handmade scrapbook poem pages that were printed directly from a UPS copycenter printer.
For this second project, I printed some test copies of a couple of pages on my inkjet Lexmark printer. Photo quality paper: the printed copy was much darker than what appeared on the laptop PC screen - details couldn't be distinguished. Lower quality paper: the printed copy had a faded looking print.
I will be taking the PDF format of the pages to the UPS copycenter, again. I've been told that the prints can be lightened, however, I'm concerned that the quality of the print will be compromised.
Any easy solutions to resolve this problem?

Any suggestions or comments about this topic? I've been told by the UPS copy center that lightness/darkness modifications can be made from their printer; however my concern is that the print quality will be affected (i.e. lightening will cause a faded look).

If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Why it's like that I don't think that Apple have said (these are user-to-user forums). If you haven't downloaded it on your iPad then have you checked to see if you can download it on your computer's iTunes (Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option) or Apple TV ?
If it doesn't show on either of them then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will let you download it on a different computer/device or refund or credit you : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

By default, Reader updates occur automatically via the Reader app itself, and this is the most secure way to receive updates. While you can choose to update manually (by choosing Help > Check for Updates), you may not always get critical updates as they're released. See Automatic updates | Acrobat, Reader. If you receive an email about needing to update Reader, you should ignore it, as that is where the malicious updates can come from. Just make sure you're letting the updates happen from within Reader, either automatically or manually.

First try resetting your phone - hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work restore the phone using Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.
And if that fails it is probably a hardware failure (unless the phone is jailbroken; then that is the problem).
