That has to be decided by whoever is in charge of IT for your company. They will be the one to set the rules on who has to do which specific jobs. There may well be some that require specialist knowledge and only a couple of people that are able to resolve the issues.
If you use a ticket based support system, this helps to make sure the work is delegated to the right people. It can also be used to ensure that you identify if people are getting similar problems that would indicate carelessness, lack of training etc.
However, as a rule, I tend to try and make sure all staff are trained sufficiently to be able to handle most problems; smaller companies, means fewer support staff, so they have to be capable of doing what is required.

Database Firewall in-line between clients and database not working

I’m trying to configure a Standalone Database Firewall in-line between the clients and the protected database so it can block some statements. I’ve followed the Installation Guide and the Administration Guide, but can’t get it working. I’ve configured one Enforcement Point with one Protected Database.
I’ve configured Database Firewall with three Ethernet cards:
eth0 is used for Management (IP. 192.168.1.81)
eth1 and eth2 are associated with Bridged interface br0
The protected database is listening in 172.16.40.3:1521.
The clients are in subnet 192.168.1.x.
I’ve configured the Traffic Source br0 with the IP 172.16.40.2 and is enabled as the Traffic Source in the Enforcement Point.
In the configuration file appliance.conf corresponding to the Enforcement Point, I’ve seen the parameter PROXYPORT=1534, so I understand the clients should connect to this port in Database Firewall in order to access the protected database. Is this assumption correct? Is the configuration I’ve done correct? Are there any additional configuration steps that should be made? Is there any documentation about this configuration files?

For in-line blocking mode to work out of the box it is necessary that DB Client's IPs (as they are seen in DBFW), br0 and DB IP are all on the same subnet. If this is not the case you would need to fiddle with routing on the DBFW manually which you are discouraged to do because it's unlikely to be persistent, work correctly after upgrades etc... DBFW is not intended to be a router although it can be made to perform this function. In general I would advise you to stay within the supported configuration and just make sure you network infrastructure is ready for DBFW deployment. IE make sure all these IPs are on the same subnet

Horizontal separator line between masthead and tool area

hi all
we have customized the portal masthead with our own background image and all.
however the masthead looks fine in IE but in Mozilla it puts a white horizontal line between the masthead and tool area and since our tool area background is not white it looks wierd.
any ideas how i can fix that.

Rather than use one of the selection tools, try selecting the object with a mask. With the mask you can hide by painting with a black brush, reveal (and correct) with a white brush. I use PSEv.8, so I have to hijack the mask from an adjustment layer, but your version of the program has a mask buit in.

Try this:
Open you picture file
Duplicate the background layer
Convert the background copy layer to black/white
Apply the mask. Left click on the mask
Paint with a black brush where you want to reveal the color. If you go too far, correct with a white brush

CUCM 10 Barge/CBarge with shared line between phone and a remote device

Is it possible to configure CBARGE/BARGE feature if shared line is between a cisco phone and a remote device.
When remote device picks up the phone, red light comes up on the phone, if we press the line button to Cbarge, dial tone comes up and the call does not go into a conference.
Has anyone used that feature? Can it be configured?

We are using Lync for tesing purposes.
we tried scenario with Remote device as a mobile phone. Where calls are being sent through SIP trunk to CUBE and then to our provider. Maybe I should add some commands on CUBE router?
Is that feature (CBARGE) designed to work in that scenario when shared line is answered via remote device on CUCM 10.5.1.10000-7. I am suspecting that its not designed to work that way (If its designed to work that way, we will continue on with collecting traces, etc).

The name of the router would be the "Base Station" or "device" name. It might be something like RL AirPort Extreme
The name of the wireless network (technically called the SSID) is separate matter. It might be something like RL Wireless, for example.
If you can post back to let us know what version of AirPort Utility you are using, we can provide you with the steps to change either the device name or wireless network, or both.
In order to prevent confusion, you should have a separate device name and a separate wireless network name.
If you are not sure which version of AirPort Utility that you have, click on the AirPort Utility menu in the upper left corner of the screen and then click About AirPort Utility to see the version number.

Advice needed with lining up lines between parent and subreport

I have a report where the main report includes a box and 6 interior vertical lines. The box and lines start in a group header and end in a group footer. Details has several sections, and one of the sections includes a subreport (suppressed when there is no data) that crosses the interior lines. This report is used by multiple customers on a variety of printers.
Inside the subreport, there are two details sections. One detail section has a background color defined.
When the report is generated and the subreport contains data, the subreport section with the background color obscures the line defined on the main report.
We have tried to work around this behavior by adding matching lines in the detail section of the subreport, but we have been unable to get the lines within the subreport to nicely align with the lines in the main report. We'll think we get it fixed up for one printer, but then they are off on another printer.
We have turned off the background and removed the lines. This gives us a perfectly straight line, but the users really want the subreport to have alternating colors.
What other options do I have?

User status linking between wbs and network

Dear All,
I got one requirement in which i am using user status at wbs level to block all the transactions. Now the problem which i am getting is that even though i am maintaining the user status at wbs level, users are able to post the data on network activities. If i am maintaining the user status at activity level than i am able to stop the same.
Kindly suggest cant we maintain user status at wbs level and stop fi posting at activity level. Is there any way to achieve this.

Drawing small, short curves in Photoshop draws straight line between start and end points

I recently installed Windows 8 Professional, Photoshop and the latest Wacom Bamboo tablet drivers and have been experiencing this issue. I've turned off windows flicks and ink. This only happens in Photoshop with the brush tool and I can't seem to find a setting that this corresponds to.
Basically, when I draw small, short curves (particularly letters like 'c' and 'h'), when I lift up my pen, Photoshop automatically connects the end and start points together with a straight line ('c' almost becomes 'o' or 'a'). I'm not holding the shift or any modifier keys. I've tried googling this issue, but I have no idea how to phrase it properly to get any results.

Hello,
Does anybody know if there is documentation regarding the recommended signatures to be activated depending of the network service being deployed?
Let's say that I have several servers behind a firewall, therefore, in theory I would only need to activate in my IPS the signatures related to those services, for example, ftp, https, aaa, etc...

Depending on IPS, you should be able to disable signatures for Solaris, OSX, Windows, Linux if you are not using them in your network. The trick is getting the vendor to admit how many signatures the device can handle. They will almost always lye to you.
Also if you but sensors in front and behind your firewalls. You will see which are getting through the firewall, That then need to be install on the IPS to protect against.. if you add a 3rd sensor in back of the IPS. you can see how many made it past all your defenses

I run a report output in HTMLcss format. Output is coming correctly.But what my problem is in the output i am getting some borderline (thick black line) between page and page. While i print the html i am getting this line at end of each page. What is this line and how to remove it htmlcss. i want printout without this line.I am using reports 10g version.

The line is caused by the default HTML code placed in the After Page Value property found in the Report Escapes section of the report property palette. Clear the value to delete the line

RMI sits on top of sockets and basically lets you send objects over the wire. Network programming is underneath and it handles all the transmission issues.

Problem in Server Admin: cpu and network graphs not updated or empty after lion server update

Just for archive purpouses because i've already solved that!
After upgrading from OSX Server 10.7 to 10.7.1 my CPU and Network graphs in Server Admin stop being updated.
In 24h the graphs where blank (disk usage graph seem to keep working).
First i read about "what is the application responsible for this"; it's called ServerPerfLog, and you can see if it's running that way:
     # ps ax | grep ServerPerf
If you don't see anything else than your own "grep", that means that no application is running, no data is being collected.
     41324 s000 R+     0:00.00 grep ServerPerf
A positive response for this (meaning that the service is running) should be something like that (2 lines: your grep and the service app itself):
     94   ?? Ss     0:04.71 /usr/libexec/ServerPerfLog
     41344 s000 R+     0:00.00 grep ServerPerf
Later i read about "where is the config file for this service app", and you can find it here:
     /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.ServerPerfLog.plist
If you edit this config file, check that the "Key > Disabled" is set to "False"
     # vi /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.ServerPerfLog.plist
        <key>Disabled</key>
        <false/>
After that, i try to launch the service that updates this graphs again, by hand, performing the following command:
     # sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.ServerPerfLog.plist
And the service got launch!!! yeeeepa!! i see a first update in graph data.
Also the "ps" query reply that the service was running!!
The bad things came a day after, when i saw that the graphs stop again....
I check if the service was running executing again the "ps" command, and that show me that the service was stopped again; no ServerPerfLog process was running.
But r e l a x, because the process hang because of a permissions problem.
You should know, I run "Repair permissions" within "Disk Utilities" over the running system disk, eeee... voila!
I hope that helps someone to get his fancy graphs back!

Difference between admin.jar and admin_client.jar

OC4J provide two commad-line utility: admin.jar and admin_client.jar for performing configuration tasks on OC4J. admin_client.jar can work in Oracle Application Server clustered environment as well as on a standalone OC4J server, but admin.jar only works in a standalone OC4J installation. Do they have any other difference?
If used in a standalone OC4J installation, are they the same?

In a nutshell
1. admin.jar is the old command line utility we kept in the release for backwards compatibility. It uses a set of internal/proprietrary APIs to work against OC4J. It works only against OC4J standalone.
2. admin_client.jar is a new command line utility that is based on JMX and its associated set of specifications to manage and deploy to a J2EE container. It can connect to and manage all variants of OC4J -- standalone, single AS instance, clustered AS instance. It has many more resource configuration options added to it. For simplicity, we maintained the "feel" of admin.jar so the command structure is very similar to what was provided in admin.jar, but the way it works is completely different under the covers.
While admin.jar still works and is supported, you should use admin_client.jar whenever you want to do command line operations with 10.1.3.x. I was considering putting a note to that effect on stdout whenever admin.jar was used, but we didn't end up doing it.
Another two nice aspects about admin_client.jar are
1. The common library it uses to perform its operations is also used by the Oracle Ant tasks -- so in effect there are two faces to it -- admin_client.jar and Ant tasks. There's a near 100% compatibility between the two meaning what you can do with admin_client.jar you can most likely do with a set of Ant tasks from a development environment.
2. We have isolated the dependencies for admin_client.jar and produced a separate, small distribution called oc4j_admin_client.zip (which is 6MB from memory) that can be unzipped onto any remote server and you have the full admin_client.jar utility -- meaning that to perform administration options against ant of the OC4J variants (standalone, single and clustered AS instance) you only need this one, very small distribution.

When you inactive or archive something it is no longer available for selection.   The difference between inactive and archive is that inactive items will still appear available for searching purposes while archive items will not.
So lets say you have the following:
List A
   - Item 1
   - Item 2
List Items
If you were to inactivate Item 1, end users would no longer see it available for selection when using the qualitative extended attribute. However when they search for specs based on the extended attribute they would still be able to select Item 1 so they could find objects that used that value. If you were to archive Item 1, end users should no longer see it available for selection anywhere - including searching.
Lists
If you were to inactive or archive the entire List A, you would no longer see it available for selection when setting up qualitative lookup extended attributes.   I don't think there is anywhere you can search for extended attributes by lookup list currently out of the box so these would act similar. If there was a place to search for extended attributes by lookup list then it would follow the same rules as above.

Hello, interesting question.
In the documentation " [cluster multicast communication|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs90/cluster/features.html#1007001] " don't specify the used protocol to pack the information for example in a session replication.
Although in a session replication all objects must be serializable i don't think rmi protocol is used.
I hope some expert give us some light in this issue :-)
