Line Charges on Family Plan

Is it normal for every line, including the primary line to have a $9.99 Line Charge? We have an $80 plan with three lines and all three of them have a $9.99 Line Charge. I thought the $80 included the first line.

If you look at the Family Plans, it shows plans for 700 min($69.98), 1400 min($89.98), 2000 min($99.98) and unlimited($119.98) which includes the 1st 2 lines.
This will not show up on your bill as a single price, but broken up into a base price + $9.99 for EACH line. For example with the 1400 minute plan which sounds like what you have, it would be base price of $70 + $9.99 + $9.99 for a total of $89.98. Since you have a 3rd line, there would be an additional line charge of $9.99 for a total plan charge of $99.97. Of course your bill will be higher by any other features you have added and taxes/fees.
Did your bill total suddenly jump?

  • How to delete an unused line from a family plan.

Hi, I'm just wondering which number I would need to call to delete a line from my plan. I had a family plan with a total of four lines on it. I am the account holder, and two of the lines were removed onto their own plan today. That leaves me and my brother as the only two lines on the family plan. I want to cancel his line (his contract is already up and he apparently lost his phone months ago and doesn't care to replace it) and start a plan by myself. I have tried calling the basic toll free number and I am switched back and forth among everyone I talk to, and the online chat is ALWAYS busy. I was just wondering if there was a way to do this from My Verizon or if there was a number I could call that would direct me to a department specifically dealing with these issues. Thanks in advance.

Cancelling a line has to be done in person or on the phone with customer service.  If you call the 800-922-0204 number, choose option 4 and then say "Agent" when prompted.  You should be connected to a live person in a couple of minutes.
Or you can visit a Verizon store.... they will, of course, try to talk you out of it, but just be firm.  You will likely have to change your plan from a shared to an individual plan, since you will be the only line left.

  • How do i remove a line from my family plan?

I need to remove a line from my family plan, how do i do it on the computer?

You can't cancel service on-line; you'll need to either call Customer Service or visit your local Corporate Verizon store.

  • Deleting lines from the family plan

    Hi,
I have a family plan on my name with 5 lines on it. One of the phones is IPhone and the other ones are simple call&text phones.
If I want to get rid of one of the lines, what are fees for that? I cant find it online anywhere. When I visited store the Verizon stuff were very obscure in information about canceling plans and lines, so I did not get precise info.
    Thanks!

Is there something more on that on Verizon website? Is there a discount if I want to terminate the whole contract? I am not satisfied at all...
So you want a BETTER deal the more you cancel? Don't think so.
    From the Verizon website:
" If you cancel a line of Service, or if we cancel it for good cause, during its contract term, you'll have to pay an Early Termination Fee. If your contract term results from your purchase of an Advanced Device after November 14, 2009, your Early Termination Fee will be $350 minus $10 for each full month of your contract term that you complete. (For a complete list of Advanced Devices, check verizonwireless.com/advanceddevices.) Otherwise, your Early Termination Fee will be $175 minus $5 for each full month of your contract term that you complete. Cancellations will become effective on the last day of that month's billing cycle, and you are responsible for all charges incurred until then. Also, if you bought your wireless device from an authorized agent or third–party vendor, you should check whether they charge a separate termination fee."

  • Adding a line to a family plan online - selecting a phone number

I am on a family plan.
I understand that if I change the number for an existing line, I can only select from numbers in the same area.
However, if I add a new line to the account, will I be able to select an area code from a different part of the state?
    Thanks,
    Robert

Yes - we added a line for my Mom to our family plan, and she lives across the country. We were able to get her a "local" number for her area in NY state, while all the rest of our #'s are local to us in California.

  • What is the process for transferring 2 lines from separate family plans and joining them in their own share plan?

I am part of a family plan (not the owner) and my boyfriend is part of a family plan, also not the owner of it.  We would like to transfer both of our phones out of our family plans and do our own share plan together. What is the process for this??

Have each of the account owners contact Verizon to let them know that you will be doing an AOL on your lines. Then you call Verizon and explain what you want to do. Just that easy. But understand you'll have to get the new Share everything plan.

  • Will my bill increase if I cancel all but one line on my family plan?

I would like to keep one line (a smartphone) on my family plan and cancel the other 3 lines (2 smartphones and one basic phone). The contract is up on the 3 lines I want to cancel at the end of October, but the contract isn't up for the one line I want to keep until December. If I cancel all but the one, will my bill go up/change to a single personal plan on the single line for the remainder of its contract length? I tried calling customer service and doing the online chat and couldn't get through to talk to an actual person. I'm getting ready to just jump ship and not keep any lines at this point.

Don't jump, rilobilly. We don't want to see you go! We do offer a Single Line Plan http://vz.to/1d0wrWV for only $60 per month with 2GB if you do decide to leave only one smartphone on your plan. What plan do you have now? What has you wanting to cancel so many of your lines? We want to help.

  • Over charged on Family Plan?

I am on the 1400 min Family shares plan and as I understand it you pay a set price for the first two lines and then $9.99 for each additional line up to 3 more.  My question is I have 4 phones and 3 are getting charged $9.99.  Am I getting overcharged?  Is anyone else?
    thanks

Look at how the pricing is broken down on your detailed billing statement.
You'll notice that the price for the primary line is $9.99 less than the amount quoted on the Verizon website.  For convenience, Verizon states that the Family Share plans cost $XX.XX for the first two lines, but they actually bill them as the charge for the primary line (which is that price less $9.99) and then $9.99 for each secondary line on the account.

  • Sharing upgrades between lines in a family plan

Say Line 1 is eligible for an upgrade as of 9/4/2014 but Line 2 isn't eligible until 8/6/15. Is there any way I could switch the contracts between the two so that Line 2 can upgrade to a new phone? Thanks!

The contract stays with the line, always. But you can use an upgrade and activate the phone on another line.

  • Just called trying to swap my Iphone 5 on another line on my family plan...

and a rep stated that they were unable to at the moment, and that the system was getting so many requests that they could not be done until after 12am tonight.  She didn't seem to say anything about having to get another SIM card, said she would give me a call back tomorrow and go through with the process.
I asked her if it would be any quicker in the store, she said it might or might not be.  Being as all information goes to the same place, more then likely she said it wouldn't matter.
If anyone has any input, please let me know.

I have read SO many different posts this week with different instructions on how to handle this. My iPhone is due to arrive in the next hour via FedEx and now I'm confused.
    1. Do I or do I not activate it before I attempt the swap?
    2. Is it a given that the Nano SIM will have to be swapped if I'm changing number?
    3. Is the Nano SIM card truly necessary for the phone to work (I've even heard different answers to this question, believe it or not. Someone in another thread said it would actually work okay without it but wouldn't make international calls)?
Does anyone have a success story today on how they accomplished this? I'm definitely all ears!

  • Procedure for Porting Existing Family Plan Line into a Different Family Plan?

Currently my partner has his line on a friend's family plan.   I'm looking to set up a new (I'm not an existing customer) 2-line family plan of my own and then port his number into my plan (which will, of course, cancel that extra line on his friend's plan).
Can I go ahead and order my family plan with two lines and handsets on the VZW site and then at a later time work with his friend to get his number ported onto the second line in the family plan?  Or is there a better method to go about getting that line on that other plan moved onto my line on my plan?
    Kindly,
    Gordon

Does he want to keep his number?
If so, you will need to do an Assumption of Liability to take over financial responsibility for the line.  Basically, you call in or visit a store with the current account owner, and a Verizon rep will take you through the process.  There is no fee for the AoL, and Verizon will do a credit check.  You may have to pay a deposit depending on the results.  The current contract will also come over with the line, so unless it is currently eligible for an upgrade, you will not be able to buy a phone at a discounted price until it reaches month 20 of its contract.
You can either do the AoL, establishing your account, and then add your new line and switch to a Family Share Plan, or set up your account and then do the AoL.  There's no real difference.

  • Is it possible to switch the contract on a family plan line to another line?

    Hi,
Sorry for the rough title. I'm on a family plan with four lines, and still have a contract lasting until october. However, two other lines on my family plan are on a month-to-month plan (contracts expired, still using the same phones after 4 years). I'm trying to switch to another carrier due to lack of financial resources, one that starts with a "T" to be exact. So I was wondering if it was possible to move what's left of my contract to a number which is planning to stay on the plan, so I can keep my number when I switch? Keeping my number isn't a must, but I'd definitely appreciate it. If anyone knows about this, I'd be extremely grateful to find out. Thanks
    -Alex

        Hi alex_riordan.
I can certainly understand the need to save money, but we don't want to see you go anywhere for that to happen. It's true that each line has it's own individual contract and that contract cannot be switched to a different line of service. Have you had an opportunity to check out our Wireless Account Analysis http://bit.ly/vnLjqO to see if there's a way for you and your family to save money by staying with our great coverage? Many are finding the new plans can really save, especially with 4 lines on your account. You can also visit www.vzw.com/discount to see if your employer offers one of our great employee discounts. We would love for you and your family to stay with us after all these fantastic years together.
    Thank you

  • ETF on family plan when using another lines upgrade

Hey I’m trying to figure out what my early termination fee would be if I removed a line from my family plan. 2 years ago I upgraded my phone early (to the iPhone 4s) by using my father’s upgrade, and he used my upgrade a year later. This year I used his upgrade again to get the iPhone 5s. If I switch to my own plan, will the ETF be based on the phone purchased for this line, or for the upgrade used for this line?
I actually want the ETF to be the higher one so that my dad isn’t stuck with it if he decides to switch later. Is there a way to tell Verizon what upgrade I want the ETF to be based on?
    Thanks for your help folks!

When you say you want to "switch to my own plan", what does that mean. If you simply want to stay with Verizon and take your phone and start your own account, there would be no ETF. You would simply perform an assumption of liability.
If you want to go to another provider, the ETF would be based on the line you are taking to the other provider. If you take your line to another provider and the last contract on your line was signed when purchasing your fathers phone when he used your upgrade, you would be paying the ETF based upon that purchase.

  • Canceling data on family plan

i have been thinking about getting the kin two m because of its wifi and i know that you have to go online to shut off the data useage so you dont get charged...... but i was wondering how this works if you an additional line on a family plan and other users on the plan have a data plan. could this be a problem?
thanks in advance for all of your answers

I had a phone damaged and replaced with the kin two by asuion. It was listed as a replacement for the Verse. When I tried to activate it  Verizon wouldn't do it without changing the family plan I was still under contract with(included unlimited data plan). I am paying for a service for a few months till contract is up for an unused phone. I have called several times and have not had a returned call from Verizon, always supervisor is busy, will call you back. I have experienced the poorest customer service and will be canceling 5 phones within 3 months and several more later.  I see that the Kin Two is still listed as a feature phone on the site. BEWARE!!!!

  • What if my phone is on a family plan and I get the iphone

Would I have to disconnect my extra line from the family plan if I get the iphone? what does the EMAIL & WEB -SMARTPHONE $29.99 included? How much data do I get to use a month before getting over charges? I have a internet wireless card that makes a hot spot does that mean I wouldn't need a internet package for the iphone?

    whoyaboo wrote:
Would I have to disconnect my extra line from the family plan if I get the iphone? No, you can use an iPhone with your current line, but I'm not really sure what you're asking here.  Did you add an extra line to the Family Plan to buy the iPhone at the upgrade price? what does the EMAIL & WEB -SMARTPHONE $29.99 included? This includes unlimited 3G data access and Verizon's e-mail program, you can also use the e-mail program included with the iPhone, or a web-based interface. How much data do I get to use a month before getting over charges? The $29.99 package is truly unlimited, use as much data as you like! I have a internet wireless card that makes a hot spot does that mean I wouldn't need a internet package for the iphone? You CAN connect your iPhone via the hotspot over WiFi, but I don't think you would want to.  The data speed will probably be the same, and the package inlcuded with your iPhone is unlimited (where the hotspot has a limit).  Regardless, you MUST have the $29.99 package on any line the iPhone is active on.
