Line-level out?

How do I toggle the audio jack on a G4 Mini from headphone to line level output?
Mini 1.2/512/40/APE   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

G4 Minis do not have optical out - only analog.
Line-level seems to be a strenght of analog signal - according to this WikipediA article. Whether the G4 will adjust the signal depending on which type of cable you use or always send the same signal is unknown to me, but there is no option in System Preferences nor in Audio MIDI Setup (in /Applications/Utilities) to specify which kind of signal can be sent.

  • Audio line level out

I would like to hook up my dual 1GHz G4 (quicksilver) to my stereo but the headphone output provides very low volume audio output. What is the best way to boos my audio output so that the stereo has a decent input? Is there a way to get a line level output (via a USB device for example)? I tried some bluetooth receivers but apparently Apple provides only low quality audio output (telephone quality) via bluetooth.

    Hi Billy,
    here, try this: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/6434002/wo/Pp3Jk gGCXGFW3DJqV6s18k78CEQ/2.0.21.1.0.8.25.7.11.7.3
It may do the trick, it may not. But I use one for a preamped input (mic), but on mine you can use it as a output too.

  • Any car charger with line level dock RCA outputs?

    Hello,
My new car has RCA aux input jacks. I am looking for a car charger that will plug into a standard cigarette lighter type plug that also has the dock line level output with RCA plugs so I can keep the iPod charged and hook it up to RCA. I'm not interested in a headphone jack based RCA plug since that's not the line level out.

    Found it cheap! $28.88

  • Line level dock for ipod classic

In trying to figure out the best way to connect my ipod classic to my small Denon 30w stereo I've been experimenting. I have an old Apple branded dock I found in a drawer from 2004 when I bought my first Ipod, a 20g 2nd generation Ipod, the first one that came with the clickwheel. It has a line level output in the back, and it seems to work fine with the classic, as a matter of fact, with the Ipods volume and the stereos volume at the same levels it is at least 30-40% louder (and clearer) than using the typical headphone jack connection. But the line level plug on this dock is a little fidgety, bump it and one speaker goes out, you have to jiggle and/or twist the cable just so to recover, obvously it's a loosened connection inside the jack...so I go to Best Buy and get an offbrand dock that comes with a remote that was on clearance (it's a clone of Apples universal dock), it has a line level out as well, looks very much the same as the Apple dock. I assumed that a line level dock from any brand would be the same, since its sending a clean unamplified signal to the stereo (isn't it?), however the quality of the audio coming from this dock was about equal or even worse than the headphone jack, I really have to crank the volume on the stereo to get the same sound, and it just doesnt sound as good. I was surprised, I didnt think there was a lot going on in these docks, just routing the ipods signal to the stereo. Am I wrong here? Will springing $60 for Apples universal dock be the best option?

I connected my ipod classic to my maranz av receiver by apple dock. For best sound it is crucial to connect by dock input not audio out (earphones) ! For that i use apple component AV cable.

  • Line Level Output

I have a wonderful pair of headphones and a nice headphone pre-amp to push them, I would much prefer to send the preamp a line level signal out and bypass any sort of volume control on the macbook. (the preamp has its own volume knob) Unfortunately after googling the problem I can not figure out how to do it.
How can i get a clean line level out signal to my pre-amp? (note: that the headphone preamp is straight analog, so digital connection is not an option)
    Thanks!

Thank you for your help ypw. If I cant natively get a line out signal, surely there must be some kind of adapter to do us.. (DAC or USB?). What would be the cheapest way to get a line out signal?
    Maybe this:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=361 EEAA5&nplm=TF815LL/A
It frankly doesn't do anything that MacBook doesn't already do, but perhaps the components are better.
I was just looking around for external DACs. As far as I recall, almost all tend to be really pricey since they're designed for audiophiles and have low production. The circuit itself can't be that expensive (they cost almost nothing to add to a preamp or receiver), but there isn't a huge market for separates.
I saw this one for $249:

I saw a few combination DAC/headphone amps that allow you to turn off the amp output and use it as a line-level device. Pricey though.
    This one looks pretty nice:

  • Audio: Line level Analog Out

I am trying to connect a Mac Mini (intel) to a regular Samsung HD LCD TV. DVI-to-HDMI works well for the video, but in order to get the audio, I am looking to get an analog, *line-level signal out* of the mini.
Any idea of how to achieve this?
TV audio input is RCA (red/white plugs). All the cables I have at the moment, seem to pull *headphone level* from the mac mini.
Help and pointers are much appreciated. Thanks // pascal

Your experience is a little unusual, and in fact if anything it should go the other way, since the output voltage for headphones is a little above the line-level typically used for pre-amped signals for which RCA inputs are commonly used, Thus if anything, the volume from the mini via the TV should be higher than normal TV channels.
All that being said, that assumes you have the volume control on the mini turned up of course! I typically leave mine at maximum (this is set in the Sounds preference pane, though I'm sure you know that!) and thus control the overall volume via the TV.
If your mini's volume is already a max, then test the output with a pair of headphones (or iPod earpieces etc) to check the output level is actually what it should be. If it's too low, there's a problem in the mini or with MacOS, if it's normal, then there's a problem with the audio cable or the TV. In the latter regard, I'm not familiar with the specific TV you have, but you might find you need to set the correct input for the video input you are using.

  • Reg: Sale Order short close at Schedule lines level

    Dear Gurus,
Requirement is to close all open schedule lines beyond one month.
In detailed. User Enters Manual Schedule Lines as per the requirement of the customer say for 6 months.
for Eg . Sale order entered on 1st of august to Dec with 500 qty, schedule 100 qty/Month, manually in sale order.
Now if business delivers only 90 out of 100. they need to short close that particular schedule line only not the entire sale order or line item. I tried with Delivery block at schedule lines level. but it is not working.
If any one has come across this scenario please share with me.
    Regards
    Praveen

If we apply a delivery block the pending qty will automatically add to the last schedule date. Ex. if there is 3 dates in the schedule lines, and there is some 50 qty pending in second date, and if u apply delivery block it will carry forward that pending 50 qty to the third schedule line and adds up with it.
But in my case i just want to close that pending 50 qty in second line item.

  • How do I get a good line level from the headphone jack from my latest model iMac?

My house is wired for analog sound and have for years used my iPod and iPhone to send an analog signal to my amplifier which drives speakers in multiple rooms. When I try this on my brand new iMac I get a buzz. Is there a setting or patch cable that can give line level analog audio out of my iMac?

There is no audio out any longer on the new iMacs.
Not true.   All the iMacs have audio out, including the current models:
Headphone/optical digital audio output (minijack) - this can be used for line output also
Support for Apple iPhone headset with microphone
The current models don't have an audio input.

  • Converted Crystal Statement Report not showing line level data properly

    Hi all,
We have an issue with a Cystral-converted PLD Customer Statement layout behaving strangely when printing for a customer with multiple pages.
When the statements are printed for a customer that has line level data which fills about an A4 page, this print absolutely fine; customer header data, line data etc. However, when we print for a customer that has more lines that can fit onto the one page, Crystal does the following:
Page 1 - Customer Header info and column headers (OK); Line level info until bottom of page (OK)
Page 2 - Customer Header info and column headers (MISSING); Line level info (ONLY ONE LINE APPEARS INDIVIDUALLY ON THIS PAGE BUT IS THE NEXT LINE CONTINUING FROM FROM THE PREVIOUS PAGE)
Page 3 - Customer Header info and column headers (OK); Line level info until bottom of page (OK - CONTINUING FROM THE INDIVIDUAL LINE FROM THE PREVIOUS PAGE)
Page 4 - Customer Header info and column headers (MISSING); Line level info (ONLY ONE LINE APPEARS INDIVIDUALLY ON THIS PAGE BUT IS THE NEXT LINE CONTINUING FROM FROM THE PREVIOUS PAGE)
    etc...
So what basically seems to be happening is that every other page, Crystal just sticks in an individual line on it's own without any headers or anything OR other lines.
Help please! Quite likely a 'Section Expert' issue but we don't know what setting could be causing this.

Sounds like the report is trying to print multiple pages with blank pages in between, is the normal report ie details fit onto an A4 page printing with a blank back page?
It will be page number resets and suppression of details on pagenumber = 2
YOu need to go to section expert and go through each section noting what conditions have been suppressed and if any formula boxes are red then open and see what they do.
Try turn conditions on and off and commenting out any formula conditiona and see what happens. By a process of elimination you should be able to work it out. However, you may have to stop the introduction of a blank page some how.

  • Manual override option for Unit selling price in Order line level.

    In OM R-12
Our client wants manual override option for Unit selling price in Order line level.
But there is no solution available to fulfill this requirment. To be able to manually override the price on a Sales Order line you
must have defined a manual modifier that qualifies for the Sales Order line in question. Without a suitable manual modifier the price cannot be changed.
    This is current standard functionality.
Anybody can give some suggestion/workaround to override selling price in Order header level without using the modifiers.
    regards,

    Hi Kashif,
I'm finding it little difficult to buy Oracle Support's feedback with regards to R12 functionality for direct List Price update without using any modifier (manual or whatever). After all it is Oracle's product and they should know better. But test results in Solution Beacon's Vision 12.0.6 instance (http://www.solutionbeacon.com/tools_r12vision.htm) and documentation updates in R12 (R12.0.4) OM user guide & implementation manuals potray a different picture.
After your last post, I did a test in Solution Beacon's Vision 12.0.6 instance with following details:
OM: List Price Override Privilege = "Unlimited Access" at user level
OM: Discounting Privileges = "None" at user level
No manual modifiers defined and Order status = "Entered"
I could display the "List Price" field from folder under Line Items >> Main tab, override the list price to a new value and save. The unit selling price showed the new value based on updated List Price as soon as I tabbed out of the list price field after overriding. After saving it showed the new selling price. _Please note that under Line Items >> Pricing tab there is another "List Price" field and that is not editable_. For such overrides "View Adjustments" (from Line >> Actions) will not show any adjustment details as it is a direct update of list price.
Also please note that, if "Enforce List Price" checkbox is selected for the order type, the list price cannot be overridden even if the profile option is set to "Unlimited Access".

_A new profile option, OM: List Price Override Privilege controls whether or not you can update the List Price_. It is enabled and updated at the application, responsibility and user level. It is not user visible and updatable. The values include+:
    - View Only: This is the default value. If set to this value, the current behavior is retained, which means unit list price field is protected.
    - Unlimited Privilege: If set to this value, you can override the unit list price field from the main tab and immediately see selling price adjusted accordingly.
    To use Override List Price:
+1. Navigate to the Sales Orders/Quick Sales Orders window.+
+2. Enter the header and line information, including the ordered item and quantity, then tab to the next field. The Selling Price and List Price display+.
+3. If the profile is set to Unlimited Privilege, you can enter a new list price in the List Price field. You can either proceed to the next line or save your work+.
+4. You can see the new, entered list price, and if there are automatic discounts applied, they will be based on the new list price+.
+5. If the folder has been modified to show the Original List Price, the original list price displays+.
+6. To change the List Price again, go to the list price field and enter a new value, replacing a previously entered value. If Audit Trail is enabled for List Price and a reason is required, a window appears to enter a reason and optional comments+.
Note: Subsequent overrides of the List Price, after the order line is saved, can be captured by Audit Trail, depending on the setup of Audit Trail (entered or booked state) and any processing constraints that have been set up.

  • Recording line-level input with Griffin iMic

I'm having trouble recording line-level input from a stereo system with a Griffin iMic. Even though all extraneous inputs have been deactivated, I'm still getting a slight feedback hum. There should be no extraneous noise whatsoever. I haven't done this in quite a while, so I've forgotten what I must do. Any help is apprreciated. Thanks very much. Peace,
    iBook G3, 1.42 Mac mini G4 DVD±RW   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   640Mb SDRAM, 1gb DDRAM

I'm trying to digitize an audio cassette with
Soundtrack Pro. My setup includes a Griffin iMic
that goes to a USB port. The trouble I'm having is
in controlling the input volume. The level meters
indicate clipping, but I'm not clear how to set the
    input level.
If it's in the Recording tab (>Input) with the Gain
    slider, mine is greyed out.
    M Wohlgy,
(I know this is months after your post.)
Control of the iMic volume is in the Preferences pane called "Sound". You can set the output and the input levels there.
Remember the iMic's position switch works only for the imput, either close to the microphone icon for "microphone" or away from it for "line in".
    I use the iMic exclusively.

  • Is there a way to track the delivered qty at the schedule line level in R3

    Hello Gurus,
Is there a way to track the delivered qty at the schedule line level in R3.  I spoke to al ot of functional guys on this and the answer is NO. If NO,then, how does the 2LIS_11_V_SSL extractor extract the delivered qty at schedule line level. Help is really appreciated.
    Thanks
    Simmi

    Hi Simmi,
I have used this extractor for the purpose you describe at more than one customer without problem. My understanding is that it links the order schedule line with the delivery, but I haven't tried to work out the mechanism.

  • Is the Apogee ONE XLR Input accept line level sources?

I am looking to purchase a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18 guitar amp with the Redbox out. The manual says to plug the amp XLR output into a 'balanced, line level XLR input on the mixer.' I do not know what this means, but I do have an Apogee One which has an XLR in. Can I record a line level signal with the ONE XLR?

Line level simply means a signal loud enough to be properly handled by an interface or by loudspeakers.  The amp XLR output will work fine with the ONE breakout cable which has the XLR input.

Can someone please tell me if they have tested the mini jack headsets with a mac.  I know for a fact that if the microphone doesn't provide a line level input, that you won't be able to use this type of headset on a mac.  Even if you have the physical ports needed on your mac and the mac knows how to interpret the mic signal, you won't be able to use the headset unless it provides a line level input.
