Line of pixels and other LCD issues

Question

I've had this iBook for almost a year (one year this Christmas) and it's screen already looks and feels like junk. Right after I got it, a nick formed it the bottom left-hand corner. It still works right there, just a nick in the plastic. Next, the plastic chipped in the upper right-hand corner, and there was a hairline crack above the latch. Now, there's a line of green pixels, right down the right-hand side of the LCD. I know this was a common problem on Tibooks. This iBook has seen NO abuse, heavy use, unwarranted openings, ect, yet it still suffers from these problems. The hard disk has been wiped and reformatted by Apple, even though it failed. If I get one more problem, I'm calling Apple, even though I should call and complain now. My old Toshiba Notebook suffered from a LCD failure, but at two years after its purchase. If this thing goes to Apple one more time, my parents are going to kill me, since I'm the one that recommended them to buy me an expensive iBook rather than a cheap Dell.
What I'm asking is, What should I do? I have a not-even 1-Y.O iBook that's dying. I don't want to switch back to PCs, but my parents might force me. I want my next Mac to be a desktop, preferrably a Used Powermac G4, but I might get a cheap Dell.

Weird, it's gone now! When I tilt the screen all the way, it slowly appears light, than fades. I have a feeling this will be a cable or a wire, and that Applecare probably won't cover it. Anybody have a similar expierience, and did Apple fix it, under warranty? I have no money to spare on a new computer right now, or to have one fixed. I'm also afraid Apple will make me pay for it, even though like I said, this iBook has seen NO abuse, drop, ect...
