Line Tool Makes 2 Lines?

Hi,
I am trying to draw a 1px line with the line tool.
It is set on shape layers, no style and black color. If I zoom in to the max (3200 %) or less even, it shows as 2 lines - one greyish and one a lighter grey?
Why is it not just a single black line?
Tony

Sorry TB,
I was wrong.
You want to use the line tool on a shape layer. There is the anti-alias checkbox not available.
You can get a crisp 1 px line only in the fill pixels mode like in Paulo's screenshot.
Don't know why.

  • Line Tool: dashed lines

Can I make a dashed line using the line tool? if not, does Photoshop allow one to make/get a dashed line? How, please.
    Thanks.

    >you can set your brush spacing in the brushes palette and stroke a line (or path) created with the line tool. that's how you do dotted/dashed lines in photoshop.
And you can change the Angle Jitter to "direction" so the dashes follow the direction of the path. Works well with curved lines.
STILL... best is to use Illustrator.

  • When using the line tool, The line doesn't show up in the box

When I click the line tool and use it in the white box it does not show up at all but it will show up outside the box. Please help.

I would have thought that was impossible!

It's simple... I want the Illustrator pen tool to ALWAYS make corner annchor points and NEVER smooth.  Right now I have to convert every single one of them, or I have to do a work around every time I draw a line and make one of the handles disappear.  Is there some simple setting out there that will just "make it so?"@

The video I am watching this guy is just dragging every line to make curves.  And every anchor point is a corner.  He is not switching back and forth between the pen and the anchor points tool, and he is not using the convert points tool.  He draws a curved line and starts another straight line only to curve it with a click and a drag.  It is super efficient, and I could save a world of time if I could figure out what he is doing.

  • How do I make the line tool work again?

Can you help me make the line tool operate properly again? I just now accidentally touched something on my keyboard. And now, when I click on the Line Tool in the Tools Panel, and then press the "x" key to toggle the color of the line tool between being black, or being white, neither options works anymore. Now, when I draw a line, it does not apply a black line to my drawing. And when I toggle and press the "x" key again, it doesn"t apply a white line to the drawing either. When the line tool is "white", and I draw a line across a black area, nothing happens. The white line tool doesn't apply to the drawing.
When I've gone to your "help" menu, I'm instructed to press the "Object Drawing Button" in the "Tool Panel". But I've looked at every item in the "Tool Panel" and I cannot find the "Object Drawing Button"..
Can you give me the steps that will help me make the line tool work once again?

Thank you for taking your time to respond. I'm using Adobe Photoshop
    Elements 11.
A colleague was able to get the problem solved. He chose the "star"
instead of the line. The star worked fine and showed up on the drawing
I'm working on. Then he switched back to the "line". Lo and belold, the
line worked. It's been working fine ever since. Maybe it was a bug in
    the program?
Do you know how to use the Picture Organizer in this Photoshop program?
I have several thousand illustrations. The Organizer seems to recognize
some of them (like 5 or 6). But most all of them only appear as a blue
box with a flower design in it. When I click on the blue box, more
pictures appear, but only very quickly does a picture flash up on the
screen, and then it disappears again.
I wish there was a tutor here in the Tucson, Arizona area that I could
hire who could come to our office and coach me. There are several of us
who don't understand this Photo Organizer. Do you know of any leads in
which we could hire a personal tutor for a morning?
Thanks again for your kind response to my first call for help, (Miss)

  • Why can't Illustrator's line segment tool make a stroke of .5 pt?

Why can't Illustrator's line segment tool make a stroke of .5 pt? When I create a line at either 90° or 180° I cannot make the stroke thinner than 1 pt., even if I create the line first and then try to change its stroke. When I create a line at any other angle I can make the line thickness whatever I want by changing its stroke thickness. What I want is to make line segments that are .25 or .5 pts, but the minimum Illustrator will do is 1 pt even if I select the line or rectangle and try to change it to .5 or .25 pt. This same problem exists with the rectangle tool when I create a rectangle oriented at either at 90° or 180°, but if I rotate that same rectangle to anything other than 90° or 180° I will then have the ability to change the thickness to less than 1 pt. Any ideas what's going on?

Well, this is good information, but it does not quite get me there. I get as far as {user}:Library:Application Support:Adobe:
but there is no Adobe Illustrator folder. Suggestions?
I want to suggest they add Hyphenation to that list. I never hyphenate anything, and I can't count the number of times I have had to uncheck the hyph box in InDesign and Illustrator. Can you point me to the appropriate suggestion box? Thx D

  • Why Can I Only Make Black Shape Layers With the Line Tool?

My question is this: How do I make an arrow as a shape layer that's other than black?
    Here's what I tried:
    1. Choose the Line Tool, and using the cog turn on the arrowhead at end feature, and set the weight.
    2. Drag a line on my image, which creates an arrow-shaped path. So far so good.
3, Click the [Shape] button to make a shape layer from the path. Note that the arrow is black, even though my foreground color is white.
    4. Double click the shape layer icon and a color picker comes up. Change the color, and note that the arrow stays black.
Seems like a bug:  You can have any color shape that you want, as long as it's black.
Here's the above sequence shown graphically:

Now I need to figure out where to turn that off by default.
OK, now I see the Fill and Stroke options - ONLY VISIBLE IN THE OPTIONS BAR WHEN TOOL MODE Shape IS SELECTED - that affect the operation of the [Shape] button.
Personally, I really LIKE the concept of always making a Path, then doing with it what I want (e.g., make a Shape with the button).
I'm not sure what I'd suggest about making the Fill and Stroke options available, but clearly the method of haivng them only show when making Shapes, and not when using the [Shape] button is a stumbling block even for folks who are familiar with the product.
I would probably turn off the Stroke feature by default, though, then let people discover it.

  • Line Tool in Adobe Acrobat 9.0

The line tool is permitting only horizontal and vertical rules, and it attempts to join these as 90-degree angles. Is there a way to adjust this so that I can make diagonal rules?

I can draw lines at any angle with the line tool. Just keep your finger off the shift key.

  • Acrobat pro: how set default properties for arrow and line tool seperately?

I have a problem with the 'comment and markup' tools in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
I would like to change the defaults of some of the tools, eg the arrow and the line tool.
This can be achieved by right-clicking on something drawn using the tool in question and then selecting 'properties' - or by selecting the tool and then press ctrl+E, wich opens a 'Callout Tool Properties', and then change what you want there. The latter option keeps the changes as defaults - the former offers a box to tick in the 'properties' dialogue that opens - or, you can right-click on the object again after having changed the properties, and then select 'Make Current Properties Default'.
My Problem is now, that, apparently, you cannot choose and save default properties freely and for each tool. I woul like to have the default properties for the line tool set as the following:
    -line color: yellow
    -line thickness: 8pt
    -opacity: 60%
and fot the arrow tool as this:
    -line color: red
    -line thickness: 1pt
    -opacity: 100%
This all works fine as long as the program is open. As soon as I exit and start it again opening another document /the same one again, the arrow tool changes to
    -line color: yellow
    -opacity: 60%
only the line thickness remains at 1pt.
If I change the properties of the line to the ones I want for the arrow, the arrow properties remain unaltered if I close Acrobat Pro.
Why do these properties interfere? Why is it "line color/thickness" in both? Why, then, do only the opacity and the color interfere, but not the thickness - even if it's the latter two properties that are bot called "line xxx"? Why does Acrobat not save all properties for these two shapes seperately - even IF the two shapes are both of a line-like kind?
Is there a way to get around this?

Trobbel - This indeed is puzzling behavior. Clicking 'Make Current Properties Default' should preserve the default  appearance for each. I don't have a solution, but merely a couple of suggestions:
    1) Make sure you have installed any available upgrade for your version of Acrobat Professional.
    2) Consider using the line tool exclusively - you can add an arrowhead and make one tool perform both tasks.
    Hope this helps. /rmbrown

  • How can I create a NetBoot image using command line tools?

Is it possible to create a NetBoot image entirely using command line tools?
(That is, without using the SystemImageUtility)
If so, are there reasonable instructions posted somewhere?
I don't believe I can use SystemImageUtility with my current setup,
but I would be happy to hear how I could:
I have a set of Xserve clusternodes but without optical drives or video cards.
One node acts as the head, running DHCP, DNS, OpenDirectory, Xgrid.
They are wired to a gigabit switch.
I have a PowerBook connected on the subnet which has ServerAdmin Tools installed.
I don't think when I run SystemImageUtility on my PowerBook that I can successfully image one of the clusternodes disks over the network.
I have tried to start one node in target(Firewire) mode, connect it via Firewire
to the head node, and run hdiutil from the head node to make a complete disk image of the clusternode's drive.
But a NetBoot image requires the whole nbi file, right?
Could I then use copy this disk image to my PowerBook and use SystemImageUtility on my PowerBook to create a NetBoot image from it?
I really have tried to read the PDFs, but I found the section on System Imaging in the Command Line Reference rather unhelpful.
    Thanks for anyones help.

      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

To create a NetBoot image, you could just put the cluster node in target mode and attach it to your PowerBook. Then use SIU to create the NetBoot image.
If you're trying to create a backup image of the disk, use hdiutil, or put in in target mode and create the image with Disk Utility.

  • Oracle Http server 11g, change ports with command-line tool

I have installed the WLS11g webtier's Oracle Http server 11g. I installed the OH 11g only.
The OH is runing fine with ports: non-ssl 7779 and ssl 4444
I want to change the ssl port to 443 such that we can have the url without showing the port as https://hostname.domain/
I have looked up the documnet http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJIFHB for "managing port".
it states "You can change the port numbers for some Oracle Fusion Middleware components, using Fusion Middleware Control, Oracle WebLogic Server Administration Console, or *the command line*."
Because I only installed the OH, I have no the Fusion Middleware control , admin console available for making the port change. And I cannot find out how to the command line tool to make the change.
I followed the steps in section 5.3.2.1 Enabling Oracle HTTP Server to Run as Root for Ports Set to Less Than 1024 (UNIX Only) http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJEEJH
And I did edit ssl.conf for port change to 443 ---- this is not documented in the document. I think because Oracle wants you to use the console to make the change.
OH is not working after I made the change.
Does anyone know how to use the commend line tool for making the port changes for OH11g?
    Thanks

    Hi,
if u want to achieve it using JMX then u can try :
    http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=613
Using Command Line Option WLST you can do it in ONLINE Mode...like:
Step1). Please run the ". ./setWLSEnv.sh" script to set the CLASSPATH & PATH in the shell prompt.
<b><font color=red>NOTE:</font></b> Run the “setWLSEnv.sh” by adding two DOTs separated by a single space …..before the actual script like following : (use ‘cd’ command to move inside the <BEA_HOME>/wlserver_10.3/server/bin) then run the following command….
    *. ./setWLSEnv.sh*
Note: the first DOT represents that set the Environment in the current Shell, AND the second ./ represents execute the script from the current directory.
Step2). Now in the same Shell Prompt please run the WLST Utility like following:
    <b><font color=maroon>
    java weblogic.WLST
    wls:/offline> connect()
Please enter your username [weblogic] : weblogic
Please enter your password [weblogic] : weblogic
Please enter your server URL [t3://localhost:7001] : t3://localhost:7001
Connecting to t3://localhost:7001 with userid weblogic ...
    edit()
    startEdit()
    cd ('Servers/AdminServer')
    cmo.setListenPort(9999)
    save()
    activate()
    </font></b>
Now you NEED NOT to restart your Server to reflact these Changes....
The Above JMX Code is also able to do it in Runtime only on the Fly.
    Thanks

  • Mesh tool - straight lines

I was wondering if there was a way to make the lines of the gradient mesh tool straight by default. I know you can drag in the handles so that you don't get curves between mesh points but every time I add a new mesh line it creates more mesh points with long handles and I have to drag them in to the mesh point for each one. It's incredibly frustrating.

How to configure Team explorer 2010 command-line tool in Mac x os.
Hot to configure shell or system path to include the folder to which (TF client) unzipped archive available. I am new to Mac X OS. Please help.

    Dmitry,
    Thanks for the great writeup!
I think I've got my universal instant client libraries built correctly.
I too am using MacBook Pro but I'm getting stuck at building the 32 bit oci8.so
First problem is my pecl download (ver 1.4.1) did not contain a "configure" file so ./configure failed.
I used configure from /sw/....... to try to continue.
Second problem. Using existing configure from /sw/.... I used an appropriate variation of your example command
    (./configure --with-oci8=instantclient,/usr/local/oracle/instantclient_10_2 && make).
Things look like everything ran OK but The output does NOT include an oci8.so file
So I guess my question is: Which "configure" should I be using? And if it is not the one on the system under /sw/...
where would I get it since it doesn't come in the pecl download?
