Lines across output video

Hey guys, I made a video for my youth group, but there are lines across my video when I output it using compressor. Im thinking i have the settings wrong or something. You can download my video here: http://www.mediafire.com/?jyizywhzyzj to see what I'm talking about. If you look closely at the edges of things (such as the words "God is moving here" and the edges of the white ink) you will see lines. Its really annoying and I think it will look bad on a big screen. So please let me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks!

Go to the Frame Controls tab in Compressor and set Output Fields to Progressive. You may also need to switch Deinterlacing to Better.
Note that this will increase encoding time.

  • Source Monitor has horizontal lines along the video

    Hi,
    In the source monitor [only after the video is rendered] I get these horizontal lines across the video. Looks like this http://yfrog.com/7bpremierproblemj
    I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this? Also, the rendered file is fine which really confuses me and if I click on the video in the source monitor then it is restored back to normal, until I click off it then it goes back to having those lines.
    Thanks
    PC specs:
    Intel quad core Q8300 2.50ghz
    4Gb RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 9570
    500Gb Hard Drive
    120Gb Hard Drive

    Thanks for correcting me there 'vertical line'.
    I've recently installed new drivers and I still have that problem. Driver errors wouldn't explain why the video is fine when I import it. If my computer struggled to play the video then the exported file would have the vertical lines to, however it is fine.

  • Flickering Grey / White lines across browser when video/animation is being played

    Hi,
    For a while now i've been getting these flickering grey/white lines across my browser, usually only noticeable when a flash animation, video or embedded advert is being played on the page. I only ever seemed to notice it happening when using Google Chrome, and a few tips suggested disabling one of the Adobe flash plugins on chrome. This seemed to fix the issue, until recently it came back again.
    I decided to try and reinstall Chrome, which is when i noticed the issue happening in Safari too, which made me believe that it wasn't a browser problem but my Mac itself.
    The lines seem to appear quite intermittently and only when a video or animation is being played.
    Another thing i should mention is that i've not yet noticed this happening when watching video directly from my hard drive, it only ever seems to happen when i'm streaming online e.g. youtube, netflix etc But with the likes of netflix, it stops happening when i'm in full screen?
    I'm currently using a Macbook Pro Mid 2010, OS X Mavericks 10.9.3. I also had the Logic Board replaced under a year ago due to other issues.
    I also use dual monitors, My macbook pro and a Dell 27" IPS monitor. The flickering lines appear on both monitors, so it shouldn't be a display issue.
    Below is a link to a video of the issue i'm having whilst i was visiting youtube:
    http://youtu.be/En9zFT1HQ6I
    Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Marie

    I have also been having this problem. I recently bought a new iMac to relieve this aging computer, and kept this guy as a backup. I wiped the computer and installed Mavericks, and this problem keeps coming up. I have almost nothing on this computer... which is why I have no idea why it's having issues. The extended hardware test also shows nothing. Also tried resetting PRAM/SMC, which seems to make it go away for a little while.
    Before I reset and upgraded to Mavericks, I was having another weird graphics issue where things would fragment and freeze either momentarily or permanently until I restarted. This mostly happened while I was using Skype. I brought it into the Apple Store several times but they apparently could never re-create the problem... I have a feeling these are related. I'm afraid the graphics card is failing and of course the warranty has run out.

  • Horizontal red lines across video after rendering

    Hi I was color correcting a video in Adobe Premiere Pro Cs5 and had remove some noise with Neat Video.  The video looks fine with the small screen, however, I adjusted it to full screen and noticed a lot of red horizontal lines across the whole video.  The video was 720x480.  I would like to know what am I doing wrong.  I'm a beginner in color correction and using Adobe Premiere Pro. Thanks.
    Gerald W. McClaren Sr.

    i hope the picture helps you. There's not much information to get.  It only happens after I finish rendering. I'm using adobe cs4 premiere. There is nothing wrong with the footage.

    Exactlly which model iMac do you have?
    see > How to identify iMac models
    Unfortunately that is not all that uncommon for the Early Intel iMac's given there age and the fact that the air intakes are probably choked with dust. Then add the extra heat caused by running a more intense OS X which is causing it to run a little warmer than normal and putting extra stress on the graphic and display components.
    My 6½ year old 17" Early 2006 Core Duo w/2GB of RAM is also running 10.6.8 and is also starting to get a single line that (knock on wood) goes away after a few minutes, while many others started getting permanent ones after 2 or 3 years. One thing that I think has helped, is that about every 3 or 4 months I shutdown and vigorously vacuum out the bottom grill work and small vent under the stand to keep it running cool.
    On that note: unfortunately I can only suggest that you clean your intake vents and hope that no permanent or irreversible damage has been done.

  • Dark "scan lines" across finished movie frame

    I'm trying to put together a movie from still photos and recorded audio. It needs to be output in 1024x780 pixel format to match the projector used at a multimedia show. All the images were taken with a 8 megapixel digital camera, and I have used PhotoShop to format them as 1024x780 prior to dropping them into iMovie. Everything looks good in the iMovie timeline editor, however when I compress the finished movie using Expert Settings into the final format, I get thin horizontal black lines across the frame that breaks the image into many thin horizontal bands. I've tried switching to other codecs to see if I can make the problem go away, but anything that can produce the finished movie in something other than standard video format causes the same problem. The only thing that seems to work is letting the program make the movie in standard video format, such as making a .avi file instead of a .mov or a .mp4 out of it, but then I don't have a full-frame image for the projector at the show, which is necessary.
    The show producer says this is a generic Mac iMovie issue and he wants me to switch to PhotoPro on an Windows XP machine. Surely this isn't true and there is a fix to this problem.
    Ideas anyone?

    Eep, I'm so sorry, I just realised I posted this in the wrong forum.. I don't know how that happened o_o
    I'm actually using Adobe Premiere Elements 9 - Is there any way to move this thread or should I just make a new one?  I suppose the questions are still relevant though?
    I'm using Procaster from livestream.com to capture videos
    With G-Spot:
    The source file doesn't have these lines though
    I have no idea how to find the sequence settings but maybe that's because it's a Pro thing rather than an Elements thing?
    As from what I can see, because it's sped up, it's actually merging 2 frames (so alternating the lines from each frame?) when I'd rather it just drop one frame

  • Issues with lines across the screen, as well as freezing

    Issues with lines across the screen, as well as freezing
    Hello all
    Got an iMac since January 2008 and I do like it a lot, even though it has some issues:
    -- It displays (quite often) lines partially across the screen
    -- Lines appear as well when opening applications or when menus come up
    -- The system freezes more than I like to admit (more than my Windows/Ubuntu box)
    I don't know if the freezing has to do with the lines that are shown on my screen. But I assume that both issues relate to some video card problem. I can't be sure - but that's what I assume from living with this issue day to day.
    The line on the desktop (most of the time it is there before login) I can always get rid of by changing the display resolution to something else and then changing it back. Normally the line is gone, or, reappears on a different spot on the desktop. But repeating the procedure removes the line.
    However, this does not mean that the lines are not showing up again when launching apps or displaying menus!
    And since those lines appear to happen randomly, I think it's safe to assume that we're not talking dead pixels here, either...
    About the freezing:
    My iMac freezes sometimes when I move the mouse around, when switching desktops using "spaces" or when the zoom function of the Dock kicks in. Sometimes the screen goes completely black, sometimes completely white. The mouse, however, always works. But the system requires a reboot.
    Again, this happens too often to feel comfy about it.
    With my little knowledge of Mac troubleshooting I assume that there's something wrong with the ATI card that's built into my Mac. On the other hand, some people say that they started getting similar issues after updating their OS to Leopard. Again other people say that such issues stem from an ATI revision that is too old and the Mac should get a new ATI card. And how would that work? Isn't that an "all-in-one" machine with everything soldered onto the mainboard?
    So, any help in this matter is greatly appreciated...
    Cheers,
    Rainer

    Here are a few screen photos I've taken (not screenshots, as the lines are not visible when taking screenshots. I used my digicam to snap those...).
    Here's the link to those screen photos displaying some of the many lines I keep having:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/rainer.rohde/NewAlbum62508115AM
    Needless to say, as I typed this message here, I had a nice line going across my Safari window..
    Cheers,
    Rainer

  • Output video is faster than preview?

    Hello everyone,
    Im fairly new to after effects. So new in that it took me all day yesterday to create a simple 10 second clip with a gradient ramp and floating circle particles. Here is my issue. When I click on the play button in the "preview" box, it loads the 10 second clip with the little lime green line. After loading (I think its called rendering?), I am able to play the clip from start to end as many times as I'd like. When I do this, the clip plays at the speed I want. But when I add it to the render queue and export it, the clip is much faster. Im sure there is a solution to this beginner question of mine but I just cant seem to figure out how to slow the output video down to have the same speed as when I preview the clip. When I preview the clip, right about the "preview" box I get some text in red saying "fps: 11.404/30.00 (NOT realtime). So maybe It has something to do with the fps when I export it? So my rationale was, change the composition fps to 11.4, add to render queue, then export and maybe itll be the same speed as the preview but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    You are not understanding at all how Video or After Effects works or how previews are generated. PLEASE, for your own sanity, spend a few minutes watching this series of videos on the Basic Workflow. That should point you to the right direction.
    RAM preview (not accomplished with the space bar) may not ever be at full frame rate. This depends on your comp resolution and your system. You may have the comp window zoom factor set to 50% but your comp resolution set to 100%, which will slow down the rendering of a ram preview and can effect playback speed. You'll be more successful if you have resolution in the comp window set to automatic. The whole AE experience requires at least a couple of hours going over just the basics of the UI, previewing, and rendering or you will be forever frustrated and think that the software is not working when it is actually working exactly as it is supposed to.

  • Strange flickering lines across screen, opening Photobooth makes them go away?

    Hi everyone,
    I've been having a very strange problem with my 2011 Macbook Pro 15" for quite a long time now. It's basically flickering lines across the screen, and the screen 'folds' in on itself, squashing the display vertically and stacking them on top of each other. Sometimes it's terrible, sometimes it's bearable. Sometimes the screen goes completely black. It's super weird. Here's a photo I took my phone, as I screenshotting shows nothing out of the ordinary:
    The really really weird thing is that when I open Photobooth, as in the apple webcam program, the problem completely goes away (until I quit it). I had hoped this was a software issue, so I backed up and formatted my hard drive and then installed a fresh copy of OS X - and the exact same thing happens! I barely made it through the system setup!
    I beg, someone help me!

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
    Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
    Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Notebook dv7t. Red transparent horizontal lines across entire screen.

    I need to know if it's as bad as I suspect. 2-1/2 yr old notebook dv7t on Win 7, with 17.2" monitor. No error messages. Troubleshooting finds nothing. Never had any problems before. • IMac boots to bit-mapped rows of diaganol lines across screen & then freeze

    Im not sure where to post this. Unsure if it's a start-up or a display problem - or both ...
    A friend of mine was trying to install boot camp on her 17" Early 2006 but the installation failed half-way through ...
    Now, when the machine is switched back on - serious square or bit-mapped looking rows of diagonal lines appear from top to bottom on the screen at 30mm gaps ... it boots up OK to the grey Apple Screen with the spinning cog below - then the lines disappear and the blue start-up screen - looks like it's about to show the 'Starting Mac OS X' window - but then stops - and the cursor changes to a weird rectangular mess - and nothing else happens ... the cursor still moves - so I know the system is not completely frozen - it just won't boot past the blue screen ...
    The only way I can get it to boot to the desktop is in Safe Mode (shift key at start-up) - but it boots all the way with the diagonal lines.
    Here's what I have tried so far ...
    * - reset pram
    * - targeted it to another intel mac and used Disk Utility to zero the hard disk to a single Mac OS Extended (journaled) partition (erasing the previous XP portion created by the botched Boot Camp assistant).
    * - a clean install of Mac OS X.4.6 via a 'C' boot.
    * - restarted into safe mode holding the 'shift' key to get to the desktop.
    * - run software update to see if there were any new EFI or Firmware updates.
    all to no avail ...
    I have also scanned the Apple downloads pages and here in the discussions.
    And also the Boot Camp discussions - I can find only one other post with a similar issue - but there is no 'fix' or solution posted ...
    My hunch is the firmware has been affected by the boot camp installer - or something to do with the EFI parameters on the video board.
    I have tried everything Apple suggests - including an attempt to reinstall the firmware via a hard press of the power button and inserting a special install firmware install CD from Apple downloads - but I can't get the firmware bar to load at start up ...
    If I try reinstalling the latest firmware update - I get a message saying "Your Firmware is up to date' - or 'This update is not needed on this machine' ...
    Q: Is there a stand-alone installer that will reinstall the firmware - without doing a version check - and just do a fresh firmware install ... ?
    Does anyone know a way around the version check.
    I am convinced this issue is a software/firmware related problem - I sense the EFI settings have screwed up the video settings on the board - and I all i want to do is refresh them.
    It's still under it's initial 1 year warranty - but I'm not sure a botched Boot Camp install is covered ...
    Sorry for the long post - but I'm hoping a nice apple guru can help me out with this 'very hairy' problem ..
    ... macfinger - auckland city
    17" intel imac early 2006 1.8GHZ 512RM

    OK - here's the result of the rows of diagonal lines across the screen on the 17" Intel Core Duo iMac, which I posted last week ...
    The logic board was definitely faulty - it could not be repaired by firmware or otherwise ... the service centre was very vague about which area or part of the board failed - but I suspect it was the embedded video board or VRAM ...
    (actually - I still reckon it was a botched firmware - but seeing as Apple's 'Open Firmware' is nor strictly 'Closed Firmware' .... there was no way of actually testing that theory for sure ...
    From what my friend has told me - she said this fault was the result of a botched Boot Camp XP installation when loading the Windows drivers from the Mac generated Drivers Install CD which froze - and then trying to boot back into Mac OS X by doing a hard restart, after it failed ...
    A message to any future readers of this post:
    If your machine shows signs of of the above symptoms - you'll have to return it to an Authorised Apple Service Centre to have the logic board replaced (hopefully under warranty) ...
    BE SURE AND BACK UP ALL OF YOUR PERSONAL USER DATA FIRST - AS THERE WILL BE NO GUARANTEE YOUR USER FOLDER WILL BE RETAINED WHEN YOU GET YOUR MACHINE BACK ...
    You can still access your HD by doing a safe boot: hold the 'Apple' & 'S' keys immediately after you hear the start-up 'chimes' ....
    Once you're back to your desktop - use your machines internal CD-RW/DVD to copy your files to disk ... it's a bit tricky with all the lines across the screen - but persevere - 'cause that's what we did - and we know it can be done.
    Good luck ...

  • Dark line across white menu bar space

    Something really weird just happened. Across the white menu bar (where it lists Finder and shows the clock, etc) there is now a somewhat faint black line. it's a few cm thick, and looks a little blurred. This is what happened prior to the line appearing:
    I was downloading the latest update to Quicktime
    I was trying to transfer a song from my iTunes library, as well as a video, to my iDisk.
    I was adjusting the brightness of the screen.
    The iDisk locked up... it said there was 5 secs. left of the transfer. Also, the updater said I had to restart the computer. I did this, but when I restarted the screen was really dark. I was playing with the adjuster, and the screen went black. I restarted again, and the brightness was ok... I still had to adjust it to make it lighter.
    Now everything seems to be working ok (except my iTunes music file and video say they are in use by OSX and cannot be opened... I just deleted them)
    but I have this crazy line across the top of the screen.
    Please help?

    Hey, thanks everyone. I am running Tiger on my iBook... I have Panther still on my iMac, but will probably upgrade sooner.
    I am at work now (using Tiger as well) and notice the line here, too. I guess I just didn't notice it on the iBook until I had the little issue with the display brightness.
    The line really doesn't make the bar look 3D, just sort of dirty. Oh well.
    Thanks so much for the reassurance!!

  • Trigger lines across busses

    I have not been able to get more than one line to route dynamically.  Here is the setup code:
        viUnmapTrigger(instr, VI_TRIG_TTL6, VI_TRIG_TTL6);
        viUnmapTrigger(instr, VI_TRIG_TTL5, VI_TRIG_TTL5);
        checkErr(viSetAttribute(instr, VI_ATTR_PXI_SRC_TRIG_BUS, 2));
        checkErr(viSetAttribute(instr, VI_ATTR_PXI_DEST_TRIG_BUS, 1));
        checkErr(viMapTrigger(instr, VI_TRIG_TTL5, VI_TRIG_TTL5, VI_NULL));
        checkErr(viMapTrigger(instr, VI_TRIG_TTL6, VI_TRIG_TTL6, VI_NULL));
        checkErr(viSetAttribute(instr, VI_ATTR_PXI_SRC_TRIG_BUS, 2));

        checkErr(viMapTrigger(instr, VI_TRIG_TTL6, VI_TRIG_TTL6, VI_NULL));
    When both TTL5 and TTL6 are setup using viMapTrigger() I get the following error when calling niTClk_ConfigureForHomogeneousTriggers() for the second group.  I am able to map one of the TTL lines across busses but not both. Any ideas?

    Hi tonys10,
    Why are you both manually mapping trigger lines using viMapTrigger AND automatically configuring the crosspoint switches using niTClk_ConfigureForHomogeneousTriggers?  When you use viMapTrigger you are reserving the trigger lines.  This may be why you receive the error.  I am assuming niTClk_ConfigureForHomogeneousTriggers is all you want to do.
    If you desire to manually map the trigger lines, please follow the instructions in the attached pdf.  These instructions are also documented in the NI-TClk Synchronization Help.
    Please let me know if you have further questions or if this does not resolve your issue!

  • Print to Video, Playback Output Video for 1080i60 Codec?

    In FCE 3.5, the pull down menu: Final Cut Express HD / Easy Setup / HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60, “Playback Output Video” is not available, ie “None”.
    I have been using the “Print to Video” command within Final Cut Express 3.5 to export my edited video (NTSC 720x480) back onto my Sony mini DV TRV70 camcorder for archival purposes. This is usually something I do after burning discs using iDVD.
    I’m about to purchase a Canon HV30 hi-def camcorder, and in the same way, would like to archive my hi def edited videos, ......that is, after burning some DVD’s, I want to archive the entire 1080i60 version back onto tape using the Print to Video command and Rec Cntrl function of the camcorder. However, the “Playback Output Video” feature of FCE 3.5 for 1080i60 seems to be “None”.
    Appreciate any info as to whether FCE 4.0 has this feature, or are there any other ideas out there that would accomplish the same objective.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Michel (Bonjour)
    Thanks again for responding, and providing a number of good references for Blu Ray burning and burners.
    I recently “captured” a short Hi Def, 2 minute bird feeder video from my Canon HV30 with Final Cut Express HD 3.5, and placed the imported segment on the Time Line viewer. All of this with FCE set in the 1080i60 AIC codec.
    With no editing nor transitions nor effects, I then did a “Print to Video” of this Time Line segment, and recorded it back onto the Canon, positioning it on the tape directly following the original recording.
    I then rewound the mini DV tape, and played back the two videos from the Canon into my high definition Samsung via HDMI. I couldn’t tell the difference between the two video samples, …….the original recording compared with the copy that was captured by FCE and re-recorded back onto tape.
    I then took this same Time Line segment, exported to a QuickTime self contained movie (sequence), and then dragged that QT sequence into iDVD (Version 7.0.3) widescreen theme pane. It took about 30 minutes to process and burn that same short ( ~2 min) segment to a DVD using my iMac 2.1Ghz G5 w/ standard Super Drive.
    I then played back that DVD disc on my HD Samsung through a standard DVD Player (no up converting capability) and could see a good rendition of the video sample, but fuzzy in spots especially during slow panning, …..a good video but NOT certainly the Hi Definition quality that I saw during playback from the Canon mini DV tape playback.
    A question for you experts……is the degradation seen during DVD playback caused by the iDVD software not producing a 1060i Hi Def rendition, ….or is the DVD ok and the fact that I did not have an unconverting or Blu Ray DVD player the reason for the lack of non hi-def quality from the DVD?
    Michel, …..I have not as yet purchased Toast 10 with the HD plugin. Would you expect that I would see an improved version, ….a nearly Hi Def rendition if I had used Toast 10 instead of iDVD? Or do I have to go the distance!…….that is, Toast 10, a Blu Ray burner, and Blu Ray Player as well!…..to see a version of my 2 minute sample as good as what my Canon HV30 playback is showing me?
    Once again, Thanks in advance
    BoBo
