Lines Appearing on Slide Background at Runtime

I am using Captivate 3 and cannot get support from Adobe, so I am relegated to asking and waiting for a response here.
There are lines appearing on the backgrounds at runtime only. They do not appear during editing mode so I cannot remove them. It seems as if part of the previous slide's background (the lines) are being carried forward since these lines are part of the previous screen. I tried to just start recording the screen I was having problems with assuming that perhaps they were appearing as a result from moving from one screen to the next. It didn't work. Even if I start my recording at the screen where my trouble start, the lines again appear during runtime.
Why can't I get rid of them? My client doesn't want them and neither do I.

I also used to have this issue sometimes in Cp projects.  I noticed that this only happens for slide background images, not for normal images.
My workaround was to ideantify each slide that suffered with this problem then find the background in the Library.  If you drag the library background out onto the same slide it becomes an image.  Then set this image at the lowest level layer so that everything else is on top of it. Set timing so that it plays right from the first slide to the end of the slide with no transition applied.
It's not ideal having to use two copies of the same image on a slide but at least it hides the artifacts at runtime.  They're not visible because they're underneath the dummy background image.

  • I recently upgraded to 0S 10.6.8 on mab pro and now have pink lines around the desktop borders. A horrible red colour appears in the background of the screen saver, and in parts of Safari and other applications including MS Office. please help

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to SL OS 10.6.8 and now have pink lines around the desktop borders and some menus. There is also a horrible red colour that appears in the background of photobooth and parts of Safari. The screen saver looks like an alien life form with red in the background. There are odd translucent colours in the background of other applications including MS Office. It looks like a horrible psychedilic trip from the 60's. I ran the upgrade again but nothing changed. Can you help?

Backup your files off the computer (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, under the Utilities menu > Disk Utiltiy > Repair Disk, and Repair Permissions
(quit and stop if Disk Repair (only) issues a failure and notify us)
Quit and install 10.6 again, reboot and Software Update again,  this time download it and then run it. Check Software Update until clear.
c boot off the 10.6 disk and use Disk Utility >Repair Disk again (fixes a bug)
Reboot and check any installed programs, some may not function who have installed kext files into OS X, those need to be reinstalled.
You didn't mention if you upgraded from 10.5 or 10.6.7, the above steps are for fixing a 10.6 to 10.6.8
If you upgraded from 10.5, you should erase the drive in Disk Utility first, then install 10.6 fresh, but then all your programs will have to be reinstalled or updated from original sources.
Also the 10.6.3 upgrade disk has no free iLife, but you can install 10.5 fresh then upgrade to 10.6.3, then to 10.6.8 and then all new programs and that will give free iLife that came on the factory 10.5 disks.
You also can use Pacifist to extract iLife from 10.5 disks.

  • Lines appear where svg and other backgrounds overlap

I am preparing PDFs via XSL-FO, using RenderX.  One construct in the PDF is produced from an SVG graphic that is placed side-by-side with a table cell.  Both the SVG and the table cell have identical background shading.  In Acrobat Reader X and Acrobat Pro 9.0, at 200% zoom or smaller, small horizontal and vertical lines appear where the SVG and cell backgrounds adjoin; at larger magnifications, these lines do not appear.
Why do these lines appear, and can anyone suggest how to prevent them from appearing?
    Thank you,

  • Problem with tiny white lines appearing in my work

    Hi all,
I'm very new to photoshop. I find that while I'm working this white noise (and also other times in the form of a bunch of tiny white lines) appears to cover most of my image. See to the right of the man's head as well as from his neck down on the orange background. It's manageable (though annoying and distracting) while working, but I got to thinking what if the finished file displays the lines as well? To test this, I saved it in a few file formats and I still see the lines. Also, this project, including the starting file, is from the adobe tutorial classroom in a book, if that helps. I'm hoping someone can help me! Thanks!

    Thanks for your help.

I haven't set any scratch discs. Should I set them up at this point?
The book is showing the same exact image without the lines.
The attached screen shots show each layer on its own - some show the white lines, some do not. None of the channels show the white lines. They appear often when working with masks.

  • Editing the slide background

I have captured an online software demo. After doing so, the
company in which I captured this for has been bought. So here's the
    challenge.
Instead of re-capturing the entire process, I was easily able
to simply copy the background slide, put it into photoshop, adjust
the colors (only thing that changed with the new branding) and
paste back in as a new slide background. Tedious, yes...but would
take much less time than recapturing...editing for pace and voice
    over.
That worked perfectly except for the slides where there is
typing or a mouse click. It appears that Captivate also catpures
horizontal bitmaps for those actions, which show the 'old' colors.
You can't see these items on the timeline in Captivate, although I
know they exist because I have imprted into flash and seen the
    elements.
Does anyone know how to disable these items or edit them so
that I can make it consistent with the color changes?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi chrisbk and welcome to our community
    aaasdf
For the slides where you have captured typing, have you tried
right clicking the typing layer and DE-selecting the "Show Typing"
element? Maybe that will work. Same with the mouse. Try turning it
    off and see what happens.
Here is where I'm going to implore everyone reading this
thread to stop for a moment and flood Adobe with a suggestion. When
you record a movie and have elected to include recording the
typing, you are adding a typing layer to your slide. If you should
make a typo, then backspace over the typo to correct it, guess what
happens? You have no easy way to edit this out. If it's important
to not include the typo, you must re-record that slide. So here is
    where you come in.
    Currently, Captivate offers us
88 different types of animated text! 88! Think about all the
programming effort it takes to create all 88 of those effects. We
have text swooping in from any direction, all kinds of different
fades, fish nibbling the letters away. Wow. Amazing! Now look at
this list of 88 effects and see what is
extremely useful but woefully missing! An animation of
simple typing text. Geez, how long would it take a developer to do
that? 5 minutes? I mean, for all the coding it takes to give us
fish nibbling away at letters, it really should be a very simple
thing for the developer to do.
So, if you feel so inclined (and I really hope many of you
do) take 5 minutes of your day and submit an enhancement request
asking for a simple typing text animation. If we had this, there
would be no need to re-record slides where we made a typo. We could
actually forego recording that piece at all, then add it later via
    a typing text animation.

  • CS6 white line appearing to left of graphic

    Hello,
I have two issues with this website.
    1) To the left of the header graphic a white line appears, I can't account for it.  I've tried several things to compensate for it.  Nothing works.
    2) At the top left there is an undocked portion of the background, I can't account for this either.  Again, I have reviewed line by line and I have tried several fixes.  Nothing even touches it.  (In the event this information is useful, when in the developer side, I click on that line and get a flashing text type cursor. )
I have researched youtube and various forums also, looking for a fix or answer.  I am thinking this might be a bug.  Anyone have an answer? a fix?
I threw some pages up (still building the pages) so you can see what I am writing about.

Its part of your image - you have a thin white line running all the way around it:

  • Thin vertical lines appearing on screen, since wakeup from sleep mode.

My Mac G5, 2GHz, DVD-R, 1GB DDR RAM, OSX 10.4.10, ATI RADEON X800 XT has recently developed a display issue. On start-up the screen shows vertical lines across the entire screen. The colors of theses lines is varying from green to black, depending of the background color. The lines are appearing from the grey loading screen and when a profile is logged in.
Shutting down and restarting doesn't cure the problem, nor does staring in safe mode nor starting up from an install CD. I also tried re-installing the operating system, but I get the same result. I tried another monitor but I also get the lines on screen. I verified all the cables and that the graphic card is well in place in the pci slot.
If I change the resolution, I also get thoses lines but they change place on screen. Also, if I set the colors level to 256 colors, I get very little single lines but If I set the color level to the highest (36,7 Millions), the lines appears in group of 5+ and are all over the screen.
I tried taking a screenshot using the shortcut cmd-shift-3 and I can see the line in the pictures. Also, if I take a screenshot of a window that is behind the window in the front ( using cmd-shift-4-space ), I dont see the line on the screen shot.
I started to have this problem when my mac was woke up from sleep mode and the problem has persisted since then.
I guess my problem is the graphic card but I would like an external opinion before I got buy another one.
    Thanks

    Any new results?
I'm having the same issue. Looks like this, but at a slight angle and different RGB colors (almost like JPG artifacting).
Started this evening after a cold boot. I just put my X800 XT Mac G5 edition in 2 weeks ago. No real heavy use either, as I've been gone for a week.
Looks to me like bad VRAM (according to TechTool Deluxe). I'm running the AHT now and will hopefully come to a final conclusion soon. I did test my 20" Apple monitor (DVI) with my laptop and there was no problem...so it is definitely the video card. Not sure if the aforementioned ATI ROM extender will fix it or not.
Much luck to all of us who are having this problem.

  • 7970 Line Appearance/Speed Dial Bar

I have about 10 7970?s that have applied a custom background image to. The custom background is white with colored text. Most of the phones display this correctly with the line appearance or assigned speed dial buttons readable with a solid gray bar and the button assignment in a white font. On three or four of the 7970?s you can not read the button assignment, the solid gray bar is missing and the white display text blends in with the logo. Where is the setting to change this? Why is it working on some but not all?
    Thanks for the help

There are a couple of things you have to think about here. If you use the "idle" field the background is only going to show when the phone goes "idle". When the phone does go idle and the "default" background is being displayed, when a user receives a call they wont be able to see the caller id until they bring the phone out of "idle" status.
I would suggest that you follow the link in the previous post and just add your background to the list of available backgrounds, set it to the one that you want. One extra step though; after you follow the instructions you will need to stop and restart the "TFTP" service on the CCM before the phones will reflect the changes.

  • I have vertical colored lines appearing on the Mini Ipad screen

I have vertical colored lines appearing on the Mini Ipad screen

I had the same problem with my first gen ipad mini. The solution was not  to do a hard reset, but instead to push the sleep/off button until the  red slider appeared, then slide to OFF. Wait a few seconds then push the  sleep/home button until the Apple logo appeared. The lines were gone.  I  called Apple Support and they wanted $19 to troubleshoot over the phone  and $99-$199 to bring to the nearest Apple store. This may not be a  permanent fix, but it resolved the issue. I purchased my ipad mini from a  local electronics store in May of this year. Believing it to be new and  still under warranty I called the AppleCare store and discovered that  it had "previously" been purchased in November a year ago and was no  longer in warranty. As stated, I've had the device since May and it has  worked wonderfully until today when I turned it on and it had colored  vertical lines displayed on the screen. The lines would change color at  times and even became a solid black stripe. The strange thing was that  when taking a screen shot the lines were not noticeable and didn't show  up on the picture. The Customer Care support tech told me to search  other display issues. On one of the support threads it had something to  do with videos/video apps and that is where I saw to do the SLIDER OFF.  It worked even when the hard RESET had not.

  • Lines appear on technical illustrations (whose native format is CGM) after printing

    Good morning everybody.
I'm a technical author and since many years, We've got always and always the same problems when we publish the customer's technical manuals.
We work with SGML and XML files and CGM files for the illustrations.
When the update of the technical documents is done, we print the document for the customer.
There's 2 years, we used distiller to convert the files towards PDF format and nowadays, we use Adobe pdf (converter).
In the past (my ancient company), we had two problems: Straight lines on the illustrations IN the pdf and on the printing.
But it would be too easy if these lines appeared always at the same locations !
    No ! They appear randomly...
So we have tried a lot of solutions:
    - Check and try other export parameters for the generation of the CGM (in the drawing software but we have hands tied because of normes),
    - Print with different printers (because we had and have 3 or four different printers),
    - Print, for every printer, the post script drivers and the other driver.
    - Generate new pdf files with different distiller issues
    - Print the file with different acrobat or reader issues...
But the result is always the same: there's some straight lines on some illustrations.
In my new company, with the electronic technical documentation, we don't have to publish.
But with the previous generation of documentation or for validation purpose, we have to publish and print.
And todays, it's always the same problem: lines appear on illustrations but not in the pdf file. Only on the printing.
This bug is old like the world but as I work with formats that are not common (SGML, XML, CGM: common for technical authoring but not for the people), I don't find any discussion or question about my problem.
I saw problems which look like similary but in these kind of bugs, it's important to be accurate and pdf is a final format for so many formats before the conversion...
    What's the matter ?
Is there a issue or are we compulsary to have this troubles for the eternity ?
    It's boring.
The publication is a non-value added work and we spend hours and hours to publish documents which make us loose money and time.
Todays, I'm going to try to put a area (rectangle) with a white background to, perhaps, hide these unwanted lines. I hope the area will be pasted at the same location without to move and adjust it or else I kill a dog !
I must do that on all illustrations (if it works) of the document because the problem appear randomly and on the screen where these lines doesn't appear: very, very boring when you are prefessionnal (and even for a particular).
I tried to print with the 3 different printers and with acrobat 7.0 and Reader 10: with no effect...
So I really hope that I will find an answer on this forum.
Thanks for your answers and for the time you spent to read me.
    Best regards.

    Hi,
Is this problem only affect Word program with Electronic Signatures?
Please try to test Printing with different printer drivers.
If the Word printing problem occurs only when you print documents with a certain font or a certain type of graphics image, try to print to another printer.
If no other printer is available, contact the manufacturer to find out whether there is an updated version of the driver or a different driver that works with your printer model.
