Lines at apple store!

I biked to the apple store today, around 11am to get an iPhone -- there was a long line snaking around some barriers, four times, like people waiting to ride a roller coaster.
I couldn't believe that this was for the iPhone! But a quick question to the first guy in line, a young skateboarder type, confirmed it...
Given that I was hoping to make it to the gym as well as do some grocery shopping, I had to hop right back on my bike and head home.
Are there still lines everywhere else? Apple store Soho? The far reaches of the USA, california, etc.?

Uhh, yeah, umm no. There was not a 3-5 hour wait because of activation problems on the day I went in to try and acquire one-date of July 18th. I went into the apple store, there were four people in front of me for the iPhone que and I was out in 30 minutes. This includes the time I used to choose between two accessories.
My phone was activated and number ported over about 5 minutes after having left the store. I was making/receiving phone calls on it within an hour of entering the apple store and purchasing it.

Pre-order line at Apple Store

So,I went over to the Apple Store in Glendale, CA to pick up my pre-ordered IPhone 4. There must be 1,000 people in the pre-order line. Apple, this is really insulting... Why did you guys limit pre-order pickup to one day??? What a waste of time. There's no way I'm going to wait in that line. ... This is a terrible way to treat your loyal customers.

I live in Nashville, TN and we have the only Apple store within 200+ miles and I pre ordered and had to wait four hours for my phone. I have it now so im good. You had to expect to wait. I got there at 5:30 A.M. and still had to wait. Try going back later. The non pre order line had at least 4000 people in and the pre order had about 1000 people.

Unreserved line at apple store?

The store near me opens at 7am. What time would those in the know suggest I get there to be sure I get a phone before they run out of stock? And how long do you think the line will be at 7am? I did not reserve it but would like to buy one tommorrow. The ATT stores here wont start selling them until Tues the 29th so the Apple store is the only place I can go.

i'm on the same boat .. i have no idea what time to show up, i'm thinkin' 6 a.m. i called the apple store and they said 'oh yeh, we'll have a phone for you' so i'm guessing they will have a lot in stock .. we'll see how it goes tomorrow .. never done anything like this before but the iphone4 sounds like it's worth it .

Crazy Lines at Apple Store

Okay so i reserved an iphone on 6/15 to pick up tomorrow. Does this mean i will definitely get one? i am reading about all these people who are gonna camp out all night and are getting there waaay early. if i arrive when the store opens do i get one or will they give my reserved phone to someone else who got there first?? anyone please help me!?!?!

If you have a phone reserved, and you go tomorrow to pick it up, it will be there for you. If you leave it past the 24th, it may be sold to someone else.
The store will have some unreserved phones for sale, and most places make a separate line for that.
By all means go early -You'll want the time for activation and syncing all your stuff onto the phone. But you shouldn't have to worry about not getting it just because someone else got in line earlier than you did.

Is this the same line at Apple store whether you preorder or not?

I am planning to preorder tomorrow with in store pickup on 24th and I am wondering is this means that I still have to go through 2 hours line I used to watch on TV during previous iphone launches.

I haven't got the app store on my computer as I am told I need iCloud for which I need the new operating system, which I can't download or purchase as I am sent back to an instruction telling mee to go to the app store icon.
How difficult can it be to simply purchase the software on-line have it shipped to you so you can install it, in the event it cannot be downloaded as it appears it can't be based on my curent operating systems being Mac OSX 10.5.8.

Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from download, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30. You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.

OK. so it's not dead pixels. How old is the phone? (some carriers will allow an upgrade more frequently than once a year... if it's less than a year old, the genius should have just replaced it for you, so I'm guessing it's not under warranty any more. I know the out of warranty price for an iPhone 4 is $199. Don't know if that applies to the 3Gs as well off hand.
A quick google search looks like you can get the parts and replace the display assembly or have it repaired for you (which I would think would be the smarter option) for between $50 and $100.

What do I do if I lost my power cord to my iPhone 5 and there are no lightning cords or adapters available in my city or on-line at the apple store for 2-3 weeks?? My phone is going to die - I have no way to get the new power cord.

I got the new iPhone 5 last week and have been happy with it. Sorry to tell you but unless you have a Retail Apple Store close by, they are the only ones I have found with all the adapters and accessories. I bought an extra lightning to usb adapter the other day to use in my truck. Good luck....

Refurbished Ipad on the on-line Apple store

I live in Portugal. I' am a Apple client for the last 7 years. Why can't buy a refurbished Ipad on the on-line Apple Store? Only U.S. clients can do that?

it is because "refurbished products" are not sold in every country through the Apple website. They are not only available just in the US store, other countries stores as well.

Do I have to line up at 8am at the Apple Store to get my pre-order?

Can one buy a new top of the line MacPro with Snow Leopard on it directly from Apple store?

I'm considering a new Mac Pro desktop with two identical video graphics card, a bazillion GB of RAM, etc., but want no part of Lion and/or Mountain Lion. I'm wondering if Apple still sell them.
Has anyone bought one such beast from the Apple store recently?

From the lack of Snow Leopard options at the Apple store, I was already getting the impression that it was not feasible anymore. It's good to know for certain.
That leaves me with the choice of a used/refurbished Mac or a Windoze box with Windows 7 on it, which can still be obtained from HP, and maybe Dell and others.
Just as I want no part of the stinky lions, I want no part of Windows 8 either.
From my point of view, the engineers at Apple and Microsoft lost their minds with their latest operating systems. It's mind boggling!

You don't preorder in the Apple Store. You preorder on-line. It will be mailed to your home address. Apple has not yet announced an unlocked iPhone 5 in the U.S. so yes, you would need to select a carrier.

Transfer upgrade in Apple store?

I wasn't able to order the 5s early Friday morning and had to wait until Saturday to put my order in. I used an upgrade from a different line. Since the phone isn't expected to ship for another month (specifically, 10/28), I was wondering if it's possible to visit an Apple store (on the off chance that they have stock) and have them transfer the upgrade for me.
My concern is that if I go to the Apple store and get a subsidized phone with the other line's upgrade (without transferring) it might mess up the other line's plan. Would that be an issue? Is it easy to just call Verizon after I get the phone and transfer it over to my line without affecting the other phone's plan?
Ideally, I would love for that 10/28 ship-by date to get bumped up, but at present that seems unlikely. My impression thus far has been that Apple is giving priority to stocking their stores, rather than filling orders for people who purchased the 5s through their carriers.

I suggest it is always a good idea to do some preparation before installing a new operating system.

How can I buy an new Superdrive for my mac pro without having to take my computer to a apple store?????

I have a Mac Pro and my optical drive is not working anymore.Thus, I went to the online store to buy another one.
Surprisingly, the only one I found was the macbook air (external) superdive.
I did not buy it online on that day. However, I went to the Apple Retail Store in Sydney to buy another external hard drive and asked to one of the costumer supports in red if the "macbook air" superdrive would work in any mac. The answer: YES!!! So, I got one. When I was paying the products I asked to the other "red mac guy" the same question... Again, the answer was YES!!!
So... Do these costumer support guys have any training. It is written in the box that requires a macbook air... That's why I asked for two different guys!!! Why did they say YES???
Ok! Lets not put the fault on the red guys... So I ask Apple:
Why apple does not make a external superdrive for pros?? Or one that works for all macs!!

Why can't we buy internal superdrives anymore? Neither the online store or the retail store sell them anymore!!!

You know you don't have to buy a replacement dvd drive from apple. For example, take a look at OWC's selection.
You don't say what year your mac pro is so I use a 2008 as an example. On that page click the little picture that shows a 2008 mac pro. That will take you to this page. And there's an example of a Lite-On drive.
In addition, on the right side of that page are links to instructional videos on how to add the drive to your machine. Click, for example, Optical, med (medium) and you will see how straight forward it is to change the optical drive.
