Lines In Images?

I've been using the Adobe DPS for a few months, and I've noticed with the last update that there are lines that go across a few of my images within articles.
Is there a way to fix this, or am I just going to have to deal with this from now on?
Also, these images used to look retina display crisp on my iPad 3 while previewing, but now look blurry.

Whenever we see lines across content it's almost always because the containing frame has a fractional pixel height. This happens one of two ways:
1) Your document unit setting is points/picas instead of pixels. You should always design using pixels.
2) The frame itself has a fractional pixel height. Click it in InDesign and look in the top bar to check the height. Make sure it's a full pixel, and doesn't have a .25 or something after the end.

  • Colored lines in images from Photoshop CS2

One of our users is having a problem with colored, horizontal, 1 pixel lines intermittently appearing in photos worked on in Photoshop CS2 (as far as I know he is in Tiger - unable to check presently as I am at home and he is in his home and everybody is off on holidays...). I will ask him about OS etc, but will probably not get an answer immediately.
Does somebody maybe remember what causes this (if the description is enough)? Reminds me of the white lines in images sometimes talked about. But these are colored, horizontal. I did a forum search and a kb search but found nothing.

Also try adding - bad Ram corruption - to your search as these are also symptoms of bad ram
Typical symptoms of bad Ram in Photoshop include rows lines patches of bad pixels on screen that also print (the actual file is being corrupted). If the bad pixel areas are on the monitor, but do not print (the actual file is not corrupted), video card or video-card drivers are prime suspects.
A bad cable, bad card, bad switch, bad/misconfigured router, bad repeater, bad termination, bad wiring, bad hard drive, bad controller, bad connections, bad logic board, bad CPU just about anything between your computer and other computers can also cause these symptoms in Photoshop, said Adobe computer engineer Chris Cox.

  • In Windows 7, how come my in-line attachment images on email can not be viewed/open in the email?

I have windows 7. Recently, after Moz upgrade, I noticed that emails with in-line attachments are either completely deleted, or only the name of the file in text is shown - not the image itself.
How can I re-set or change my settings to enable in-line attached images from the web (example .cid) be viewed? My plug-ins are all up to date (quick time, java, etc).

Let's try this first. Hold down the Shift key while you try to launch iTunes. You should eventually see the following dialog:
Click "Choose library". Browse to inside the following location (depending on what operating system you're running):
    Operating System
    Default location of iTunes library
    Microsoft Windows XP
    \Documents and Settings\[your username]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Microsoft Windows Vista
    \Users\[your username]\Music\iTunes\

... and open the iTunes library you find in there.

  • Lines over images and around text in Captivate SWF file

My project works & views fine in captivate and when published, it views fine on my mac - through flash player and browsers. But when I send a swf file to the client to view they see odd lines above and below images.
But they dont see the lines when they view the htm file within a browser - then it views fine.
The lines only appear when there's text over an image.
    Screen shots attached.
My captivate project was created by importing a Powerpoint document, with images and text on each slide.
I've changed the optimisation / slide quality through prefrences and on each slide to the highest quality.
I've also un-selected the advanced slide compression.
Is there another thing I can try to iron out these lines?
Some of the images within Powerpoint are stretched, would this cause the lines?
Is it a flash player issue?
    Or a zooming issue?
    Any help is much appreciated!

    Thanks Lilybiri,
I am a new user & just finding my way
I understand how to publish and how Captivate creates a zipped file with a SWF, HTML, JS and CSS files etc. (Im using Captivate 7).
How do you send Captivate projects to clients for review / approval before you supply them with the whole project zipped file?
So far I've been sending them the swf file to check. And have had troubles with them viewing the lines over images and around text. Even though I cant see the lines.
I need the client to see what I'm seeing - a project without any lines.

  • White horiz lines in image after rotate

I have pasted an map image from ArcMap 10.2. The pasted image looks fine, and the scale is correctly maintained (I had previously set the scale in both programs to be the same).
However, after the image was pasted in to Visio 2010 and I rotated the image, the rotated image now has faint white lines running horizontally. In an 9x17 image within an 11x17 document there are 8 such lines, evenly spaced from the top.
Any suggestions as to how to rotate the image without incurring the horiz lines?  Or how to get rid of the lines after they appear?

    Hi,
To further help you, could you please upload a sample file created in ArcMap 10.2 to Onedrive and share the link here?
According to a preliminary inspection, white horiz lines in image appearing in drawing may be caused by compatibility of ArcMap 10.2 and Visio 2010.
We need to do more research, then tell you more detail information.

  • Giving a black and white line work image a transparent background

I am working in Photoshop CS4 (mac).  Currently, the image is comprised of black line on a white background.  How do I go about giving the image a transparent background?

A day later, I have still not figured out how to accomplish what it is I am trying to do.
I have not yet tried what you have suggested in the last post and am about to go at it once again.  I should mention two things.  1. My  goal is to drop this image into InDesign (cs4) when completed. 2. The image has interior space betwen the line work/image itself that I would like to contain transparency.  Not sure if I am being clear here. The issue lies in when I actually drop the image into InDesign.  While the image appears to already have a transparent background, once it is dropped into InDesign, the image then assumes an opaque/white background.

  • Trying to create transparent background on line art image

I have an image that's black line are over a white background. I'm wanting to make that background transparent, and then lay it over another image so that only the dark lines show.
I've tried making the background of the line art image transparent, and then Placing that image on top of the other image, but it came in with a white background. I'm looking for the full photoshop version equivalent of where you could select the background color, and set it to transparency.
Also, give I have the line art image already placed on the background image, if there's a way to change the transparency of that image, that would be even better.
I'm going by instructions on the support page "Change the background color of a document", but I'm not sure where it is I open the Fonts window.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
    d

If you want to create a blank file with transparent background, go to File>new>blank file, then select "transparent" under Background Contents,
If you open an image with a white background, the Background layer is a locked layer. Duplicate the background layer; it will titled background copy layer
Now, shut off the visibility of the background layer. Then, access the magic wand tool, click on a white area, and hit delete on the keyboard. On this tool''s option bar, you will have to check or unckeck contiguous, depending on the configuration of background/foreground interface. The tolerance setting may have to be adjusted for optimal results. The checkerboard pattern denotes transparency.
If you save your file, be sure to select a file type that supports transparency.

  • Lines around image with drop shadow

    Hello,
I am currently using Illustrator CS 5.1 and am having an issue with my PDF files. I have a graphic that I am building and when I import an image, place a clipping mask around it and then add a drop shadow to it, everything works fine and looks exactly as I want it on screen. However, when I save the document as a pdf, a hazy white line appears around the edges of the image. However, the line is not on the clipping mask itself, instead it is on the square edges of the unmasked version of the image. So when I have 10 masked items on the page with drop shadows, I'm getting 10 faint white squares around each of the images which looks terrible. Has anyone else experienced this? Any recommendations/solutions?
    Thanks in advance!
    Wil

Also change your acrobat settings to show overprint preview always.
If this comes back in Illustrator PDFs, Print >> Advanced >> Slide tranparency flattener to raster >> done , then save.

  • Need to get rid of blue line under image

    Hi,
I've created a table with a row and three columns also I've placed splitted a button into three pieces and placed left portion in 1st column and right portion in last column and I've placed a piece of background image with repeat-x in middle column. I need to link the button used javascript to rollover the button with another three piece of buttons, so I've linked the whole with <a> tag and given "border=0" for <img> tag, now I get a blue bar (seems linked) under the background images that I've used in the middle column, could you please help me to get rid of the blue line.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Nancy,
Thanks for the response. Below is my code. What I exactly need is to link the whlole button instead of only the text "Buy Now". The mean time I dont want to use <img src="" border=0"> for the middle column since the text "Buy Now" should be dynamic and can be changed, so that I've used a background image instead of a <img> tag.

  • How to make curved lines in image more smooth and clear

How do i make this clear its and image, i want to make the lines really clear and smooth

    Quick and dirty:
Use Gaussian blur to soften the edges, (I used a value of 2).  The use levels, and drag the black and white sliders towards thge center.
Much better to create from scratch using the rough graphic as a template.  If it is a one off, then just stroke a path for the circular outlines, and use a layer mask for the break in the inner circle.
For the curved text, the simplest way is to use the type tool, and then the Create warped text tool from the Options bar, but I doubt you'd get a tight enough curve, so you'll need to use Type on a path.  The easiest way to do that in this case would be to drag out a circular selection with the Marquee tool using the Shift and Alt/Opt keys, and then use the Make work path from selection icon at the bottom of the Paths panel.  Hover the Type cursor over the path and type your text.  If you use Center justified and start at the top, to keep it symetrical, but I just get it close, and fix it with Free Transform.  The rest is straight forward.  I used Areil bold for curved text, and Times New Roman bold for the center text. Use a custom shape for the Tick.  If the tick is not quite to your liking, use the Direct selection tool (a) to drag the points to a better shape.
If you want to use this in a layout program like InDesign, save the layered document as an EPS file, which will be (mostly) vectored and scaleable in InDesign.  You'd need to use Shape layers for the two circles to make it fully vectored.

  • Mono line art image reproduction

My book has about 150 scanned B/W line drawings which I have as TIFF files, 1 bit per pixel. Currently these are CCITT Fax 4 compressed, making them small, less than 100kb/page. I am submitting an Indesign-generated PDF of the book to a digital book printer. Q: Does the presence or absence of compression in the image files before placement in the book have any bearing on the image data within the PDF produced by Indesign? I am unsure whether I need to switch to an uncompressed format (about 10x more data) to avoid production problems on the digital printer.

Actually this is a slighly daft question as I can just check the PDF files sizes, but any observations or experiences on this subject are welcome. The output device is a 'Nipson Varypress'.

  • Creating PDF from PowerPoint results in lines around images

I've researched this topic on the forums and have seen some related posts but none that directly hit the issue I'm having. Have a PP file with some images and when I create PDF, the resulting file shows random "outline" lines partially around some of the images.  These lines do not show up when printing.  They go away if I uncheck the "Smooth Images" box under Edit/Preferences/Page Display.  However, unchecking the box degrades the image quality and requires the viewer to make this change in his version of Reader.  This PDF will be viewed typically on a screen rather than via print and I can't rely on the user to do the Smooth Images change.  I have spent lots of hours trying various potential fixes (differing file types, etc.) but can't figure it out and haven't been able to find a solution anywhere on the web.  Anyone up for the challenge of helping me figure it out?

Any chance you can post a link to the file or PDF page?

  • Help!!  White line around image with placed in Illustrator from Photoshop, possible CMYK issue?

I have a CMYK file, outlined product, that looks perfect in Photoshop.  When I place the image into Illustrator, it shows up with a thin white line around parts of the product (fyi - it shows up on a print as well). I have tried to place an RGB file and it does not have the white line around the product.    I assume it has something to do with it being CMYK, but I'm at a loss on how to fix this.  I'm desperate for any help.

Okay, please refer this image and change the option within Ai General preferences. Uncheck the option Anti-Aliased artwork.

  • White Line Under Images

    Hello,
I'm creating a mobile site using Dreamweaver and for some reason any image I place in my document has a white line under it.  I already have my IMG tag set to border: 0 so I have no idea why it's happening.  I have even tried removing all css and just placing a singe image in a bare html file and it still happens with any image I place in any directory.  I also tested it in multiple browsers.  I've never had this happen before and it seems very strange.
An example can be seen here: http://mobile.sageinsuranceservicing.com/index2.html.  The border appears under the main image on the page and seems to be about 2 or 3 pixels.
    Thank you for any suggestions!

That's probably the browser default inline text descender padding for the html5 doctype.
Add display:block to your image css...
    img {
         display:block;
         border:0;

  • White line around image

    Hi everyone,
I keep getting a white line appear around images I save in
Photoshop and then insert into Dreamweaver. It happens when I also
save text with a transparent background. The text has a very faint
white line around it. Why is this?

Where are you seeing this, in PS? or DW design view or in a
    browser?
When you insert your pics in an HTML page with 0 border, do
    you still see
    the border?
This is not a graphics forum. Adobe has a PS forum at
