Lines on scans

I am getting 3 black vertical lines on all of my scans.  I don't get them when I print or when I copy only when I scan.  I have cleaned all the glass and rollers and still have the lines.  It seems to be internal and I can't figure out how to make them go away.

  • [LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw] only vertical lines when scanning, scanner broken?

Hi all! I have a problem with the scanner in my HP all in one. If I scan (using the printer function or apples ImageCapture: same result) the output is just a lot of vertical stripes (in colors when in color mode). Not a trace of the image I try to scan. The lines are there even if i scan an empty white page. I see the stripes both when doing a preview scan and an actual scan. The problems are very similar regardless of if I use the flatbed or the feeder scanner (they are separate scanner hardware, yes?). I have updated to the latest software for the printer/scanner and I am connecting over bonjour via wireless. I am on Os X 10.9.1. Anybody having similar problems or is my scanner just plain broken? Thanks in advance!Jon

, , I understand that both of you are seeing vertical lines when scanning from your Laserjet M276nw. First, make sure the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector. Now, so I know where to begin I'd need to know the following:If you are seeing the vertical lines when you copy as well as scan? Are you seeing the vertical lines when you copy from the flatbed? The document feeder? both?If you are seeing the lines from both the flatbed and the feeder are they in the same place?Once I know this I'll be better able to assist you.

  • Can't fix jagged images and horizontal lines when scanning

Hello, I just bought the HP Envy 5660 and it prints fine but scanning is horrible. I keep getting jagged and horizontal lines after scanning. They came out fine a few times but even on 300 ppi it looks bad. Please give me some advice. Thank you.

    Hello Hulkamania,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some issues with the scan quality with lines and jagged images.
I have seen this issue before and I was able to resolve it quit easily by doing one simple step.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Use the ON/OFF button to do a proper power cycle on the printer once it has been connected to a wall outlet.  This will do a Semi Power reset on the printer.
Try another scan and let me know how it turns out.  Try multiple scans if you like.
    Thanks for your time.

  • OfficeJet 6700 Line when scanning over ADF

    Hello guys,
i've got a very strange problem with our OfficeJet 6700 Scanner.
Since a few days, all scans have a vertical line on them when they are scanned using the ADF.
The lines don't appear if i scan via flatbed.
I've researched a bit and found out, that the problem could lay inside the ADF, so i opened the ADF an cleaned all parts described at this article from HP Support.
But cleaning didn't help,  so i don't know what else could cause that problem.
Does anybody have an advice for me?
best regards and thanks in advance
    Markus

    Hi @MarkusF ,
I read your post and see that you are getting lines when scanning from the ADF.  Thanks for providing the document you have already tried and had the same results. I would be happy to help you.
Usually this issue is caused by a dirty glass or the printer isn't getting enough power. Since you already cleaned the glass and ADF, make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Updating the printer's firmware may also resolve this issue. Here is the link to get to the firmware for the printer. I see that the website is changed a bit. Select Option 2 and wait for the page to load and then select the link for firmware.

If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.

  • Lines in scanned PDF which are not on original

Hello I am using Acrobat 9 Professional and  when I scan an original (A4) it  finishes up with a vertical line down the right hand side approx 1 inch or 25mm in and a horizontal one across the bottom of the page approximately 2 inches or 50mm up from the bottom of the page. When I scan the page using other PDF programmes, there are no lines. Would appreciate your help

Such lines are indicative of a scanner in need of some maintenance.
The scanner's user manual will describe what can be / should be done.
    Be well...

  • Cursor postion on next line after scanning

    Hi All,
My requirement is to automatically set the cursor position on the next line in SALES tab of standard sales order. once the material barcode is scanned and the material number, quantity and price get populated , the cursor position should be set to next line on material column, is it doable with ABAP? if yes, kindly suggest how.
    thanks,

    Hi,
We can set the cursor postion using this statement SET CURSOR FIELD f LINE lin [OFFSET off].
We need to use this in custom Programs.

  • Removing gridpaper lines on scans with live trace?

    Hi everyone
In my continuing struggle to get the 'perfect' scanned images vectorized I would like to solicit the advice of the forum again
i wish to remove/ignore in live trace the grid lines that are printed on certain notepad paper, but whilst retaining the inked/drawn images I have added myself.
Is there a plugin, recommended exterior app, or Illustrator process that can quickly do this?
Often these grid lines intersect the scanned image, which is the problem.
    I use CS4..
    Thank you!

I would use white-out (the white paint used to correct typing errors back in the typewriter days).
However, make sure you apply it to the grid lines on the graph paper and not the image on your monitor. Some white-out paints are oil-based and will wreak havoc on the protective surface coating found on most LCD monitors.
OK... seriously... I would clean up the scan in Photoshop before bringing it into Illustrator. (Select | Color Range will make quick work of it... unless you were boneheaded enough to sketch in the same color as the grid lines.)

  • Black line on scan

scanning from the automatic feeder produce one black line on my scanned page.
this does not happen when scanning from the glass flat surface which lead me to beleive the problem is with the wheels pulling the page i am trying to scan.

[mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.
Seems a little suspicious, though its kind of a generic error message.  Lots and lots of google hits on that one.
Are you sure none of the libs or executables for xorg-* got damaged before the system called for an fsck?  The power went out on me once and my hard drive "forgot" about 75% of my kernel modules, although it was a conventional hard drive and not an SSD.
    try re-installing some packages:
    pacman -S xorg xf86-video-ati ati-dri libgl

Is your copy of that bootchart that blurry or is flicker messing with it?  It looks like its been resized even at largest setting. I can hardly read it.

  • 8630 adf printing a line down scan or copied pages.

When using the copy or scan feature with the Automatic Document Feeder, the printer prints a line down the page about 1 and 1/2" in from the margin. It prints this line in from the left margin on odd number pages, and right margin on even pages.
I have had this printer about 2 weeks now, and it was working fine until today.
    This question was solved.

    Hello brownp69,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with a line down the side of the prints when doing copies with the adf.
I have seen this issue before and I was able to resolve the issue quiet easily by doing two simple steps.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Just so you are aware, HP Products already have a built in surge protector and when you have the unit connected to a power bar/strip, the printer can not get all the power it needs to function properly and this can cause issues with the adf.
If you open the top lid to expose the large glass surface, you will see a thin strip of glass to the left.  Please use a lint free cloth and a light glass cleaner and clean this area.  On the bottom side of the lid directly above the thin strip of glass, you will see a thin white strip of plastic.  Please clean this white strip as well.
Try another copy and write me back with the results.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Calculating motion rate for given line scan rate

    Dear friends,
I need to understand the calculation of motion rate for given line scan rate.
i have line-scan camera connected to servo motor.
i know that the line-scan camera can run at 7.2 khz line rate (7200 lines in 1 second).
Each pixel need to be 0.1mm (in the direction of motion). 10 lines of scanning is 1mm.
i need to scan image of object that its length is 400mm (0.1mm*4000lines)
First, the Conveyor stop, the object that i need to test with the linescan camera is now 5cm from the camera.
i want that the servo motor will move the conveyor for 45cm and stop.
(the conveyor accellerate, move const speed, decellerate, stop. the line scan camera connected to 10khz encoder for each revolution)
Now i'm getting lost with the calculation.....
if 1pixel = 0.1mm , then i need the conveyor belt be able to move 0.1mm for each pulse of the encoder???
i want that the servo motor will rotate chain (like the attached image),
but i dont know how i need to calculate the gear diameter, the chain pitch, etc...
and specially, how this parameters influence the line scan rate, and what is the role of the encoder here...
    Thanks for any support.

It sounds like you are mixing two methods of using a line scan camera.
The first method is to run the camera at a fixed speed.  If the speed of your belt is constant, this can work okay.  To calculate the desired speed, let B=belt speed (mm/sec), L=line rate (lines/sec), R=mm/line (0.1mm/line in your case)
B = L / R    This equation can be rearranged to calculate any of the quantities.
The second method is to use an encoder to trigger each line captured by the camera.  In this case, the speed of the belt is not important as long as you don't go too fast for the camera.  In this case, you need to know how many mm the belt will travel for each pulse.  To calculate this, you would probably measure how far the belt travels during one revolution of the encoder.  You should also know the number of encoder pulses per revolution.  Dividing distance by pulses gives you distance per pulse.  Since you want 0.1 mm/pulse, you would need to adjust either the number of pulses in the encoder or the diameter of the belt roller.  If E=encoder pulses and D=belt distance, R = D / E.
