Lingo and WIMAX

Hello:
Do you know about programming new technology WIMAX with Lingo. Any Xtras, or documentation about this.
Many thanks to all of you.

a link to somewhere that WIMAX is explained would be great...
in the meantime, the single best list of Xtras available for Director can be found here: http://www.deansdirectortutorials.com/MileHighTable/

hello. I need help getting connected lingo and sql server.
lingo is a software used to solve linear programming problems.
connects to excel using oledb something like
    CAPACITY = @ OLE ('SPECS.XLS');
but I think it is necessary to make additional settings for sql.
    please help.
if it is not the right forum please move the thread where I can get help.
    thanks
    Greetings.

For this you should better contact the support/forum of the software vendor of the application to get help.

  • Lingo and avi

    hello everybody!
this is a new director user looking for help!
i'm developing a movie in which some avi files are imported
in runtime mode through some lingo commands. my problem is that the
audio of this avi files is not available: i looked in the property
inspector of the new member created to host the digital video and i
found out that the audio property was not selected; by selecting it
while the dir movie is playing, the audio is switched on. what i
need and look for is a lingo command to access the audio property
and switch it on in runtime mode, after avi importing operation.
is there anybody who can help me??
    thank you in advance

    thank you very much sean!
your advices have been very useful, first of all the one
about the List View in Property Inspector; actually just before
receiving your answer i tryed with member('avi').audio but it didnt
    work
    now everything works correctly!
    thank you

  • Apple and Wimax

    Hi.
Just got a MacBook with Leopard and could need some assistance of setting up a stable internet connection. Been PC user up to now, and the Wimax connection on the PC only worked smoothly with the tweaking utility Dr TCP. If that is not installed, the PC connected fine to the internet, but the connection would rapidly slow down and within half a minute it would stop completely. Now I got the same problem with the Apple.
The MacBook connects nicely to the internet, but the connection is not stable. As the PC it slows down and eventually stop.
I've tried to manually adjust the MTU setting, but it didn't solve the problem.
I've also checked out Cocktail and IPNetTunerX, but I'm not sure what my values should be and if these downloads will solve my problems.
Anybody out there that are able to help?

The MacBook and MacBook Pro WIFI chip currently do not support 802.16e WiMAX, only 802.11 b/g/n. As I understand it there are no WiMAX expresscard/34 wireless network cards available to consumers. If you're part of a WiMAX developer team such as Intel then I suggest you contact Apple directly for assistance.

  • T500 and WiMAX

in Libya we have WiMAX internet connection.
the ISP has supplied us with a WiMAX USB modem to connect to the internet. the model is: Huawei EchoLife BM325.
in the Access connection when i search for WiMAX operators i can't find any WiMAX access point.
how can make sure that my laptop WiMAX signal is actuly compatible to the ISP WiMAX signal?
thank you for your help and support.

    T500CU,
Amplifying on Bill's post, the 5100 and 5300 are non-WiMax implementations of Intel's network card family. WiMax is supported by the 5150 and 5350 versions. (Why vendors of advanced systems, including Lenovo, would bother with the lower-performing 5100 and 5150 is a bit baffling.)
Another mystery is that, for many weeks, Lenovo hasn't offered the 5350 card on most CTO systems. We've had to configure recent T400 orders with the 5300 and swap them out (non-economic, but marginally useful as spares) for 5350s acquired elsewhere.  We've been pleased with 5350s and service from this dude in Hartford:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-IBM-Thinkpad-T400-5350-AGN-802-11N-Wireless-Card_W0QQitemZ400068966656QQcm...
Don't be tempted by others who offer "engineering samples" for a lowball price. Buy the production card. Incidentally, Lenovo/IBM carries the 5350 as a part (FRU #42T0965), but it's pricey: currently, $146.

  • Lingo and file metadata

    Hi,
is there any way to get file metadata into Director?
What I'm talking about is e.g. Quicktime Infos like Author,
Director, keywords,...; same with pictures and sound-files
By the way, I'm not too deep into metadata yet, so perhaps
I've already missed the point, so pleease give me a hint:-)

By default, Lightroom metadata is saved to the catalog file. For Camera Raw, Photoshop, and Adobe Bridge to view changes to Lightroom metadata, including Develop module adjustment settings, metadata changes must be saved to XMP in Lightroom. When you save metadata to a raw file, the changes are saved in an XMP sidecar file. With other file types, the metadata is saved in the file itself.
For more information on Medata & XMP please check the following help link.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS638E3AC9-A04C-4445-A0D3-F7D8BA5CDE37.html
    Hope this help.

  • Alpha channel and imaging lingo

I have a 32 bit image with an alpha channel. When placed on
    the stage only
the black anti-aliased text shows and no background shows
    (using the copy
    ink)
I'm scrolling this image with imaging lingo where I take a
    sliding portion
of the original image in one direction or the other. When I
    do this the
background of the portion on the stage is white instead of
    transparent.
I'm creating an image and assign a portion of the text image
    to it. I tried
pImage.useAlpha = TRUE but I get an error saying the property
    can't be set
which is rediculous I know. pImage is definitely an image, I
    checked it
    with the debugger.
useAlpha might not be the correct solution but it brought up
    a second
question. First, how can I maintain the alpha channel with
    imaging Lingo
and second why do I get the error telling me that the
    useAlpha property
    can't be set?

Thanks. You're right, I did need to create the image in 32
    bits but
otherwise I only needed to set useAlpha to TRUE and the alpha
    was maintained
    perfectly without any other changes.

  • Performance comparison---using LABVIEW..between Embedded and general-purpose Intel's single VS multi-core CPU

    hi guys;
kindly, can any one tell me : is it possible to use Labview installed on desktop pc to show up statistically the main performance key features between mutlicore systems and single core systems but with (two versions, embedded and general purpose CPU) . in other words: I'm trying to resemble embedded cpu with general purpose CPU so that i can only work on Desktop pc than say that the obtained results are the same for embedded multicore CPU.
to get things more clear:...embedded multicore processors are now hitting the embedded market segments such as (small and portable devices with internet, multimedia and wimax tech. enabled that take advantage of recent multicore tech.).
general-puroses Multicore processors: like desktop and servers based processors,
according to what 've read, Intel is producing same processor model but with different applications : (embedded and general-purposes applications)

    Hello,
Please look at this page which shows a new feature in LabVIEW 2009, but particularly interesting is the video which shows the performance benefits on a PC platform of single core VS multicore.
LabVIEW doesn't have any ability to emulate a multi-core embedded processor (unless its an intel x86 processor that labVIEW supports!) so to discover the performance benefits of embedded multicore processors, you would need an external hardware board and devise a test in which labVIEW can measure the timing via an external pin toggled by a program running on the embedded processor that could utilise multiple cores (there may be other ways but this is the way that comes to my mind).
    I hope this helps you!

  • RAW image and preview dramatically different

I'm using Aperture 2.1 and am recently finding myself extremely unsatisfied with the rendering of my RAW images created with my Nikon D50.
I am shooting in just RAW (NEF) and sRGB, and am exposing for what I am seeing on the back of my camera. At times I use manual, and others I use the Program setting with a -1.3 exposure compensation since the camera leans too bright; I seem to recall everything exposing correctly until recently. But my memory is shoddy when it comes to how things previously appeared.
The preview before importing shows much the same image that I intended (exposure-wise), as does the quick preview for a second or so during the import process. Shortly after, my pictures all become dull and dark, lacking color and appearing about 2 stops underexposed.
I love photography, but am personally baffled by the issue of color profiles, RAW images JPEG previews, and all that jazz. Nothing seems to explain these adequately, which is why I'm reaching out to those more knowledgeable than me. I am unsure if it's my camera, Aperture, color spaces, or just settings within Aperture or my camera.
Once again, I want to say this is a recent problem, but it may just be that I only noticed recently.

I have exposed to the image on the LCD before and produced wonderful results. Or, at the very least, results that didn't drive me to post on a discussion board.
    As per your questions:
--I use 4 different methods to determine how I am exposing my image. In Manual, I use the TTL metering chart in the viewfinder (usually exposing -0.7 to -1.3 so as to compensate for the tendency for the camera's meter to overexpose), the resulting image on the LCD, the histogram, and the in-camera highlights indicator (since, once again, it has a tendency to try and overexpose an image). In Priority modes, I use the camera's exposure compensation setting to set the compensation to -0.7 or -0.1. The resulting JPEG that I see in the pre-import thumbnails and the brief seconds during import are exactly the exposure I want, but when Aperture finishes importing, it's entirely too underexposed. And it's not just that-- the color seems to be worse than it would if it were just simple underexposure... it all feels grey.
-- I use matrix metering most of the time, with spot metering in the rare instance that requires more precise measurement than just tweaking the aperture or shutter up or down a stop or so. Snow or water pictures are a prime example.
Just so we're clear, I know how to use a camera. I know how to expose properly, and in the past year with my camera, I feel I've figured out its quirks. It takes a lot to drive me to discussion boards, as I usually figure out problems myself. But, since the lingo and strange things of digital photography (Color Space, EXIF data, RAW conversion engines, etc.) confuses me sometimes, I am looking for more human help. I haven't had this problem (or this dramatic of a problem) in the past.
The RAW images outside of the last couple of months seem fine (maybe having something to do with the fact that I upgraded to 2.1 from the 1.0 software about 6 months ago and am finally getting back to photography during my summer break). And the JPEGs that I am apparently exposing for are fine as well. It's just after Aperture imports the RAW file that I am having these problems.
Like I said, I want to continue to use RAW. I want it to work like I thought it was working in the past (that is, without major exposure headaches). But I want the image that I thought I was getting. So how do I make Aperture see the same (or nearly the same) image that I am seeing in the JPEG thumbnail? The difference is just too dramatic to pass it off as quirks and be okay with that. And no, at least as the photography part goes, I do not think it's a short between the floor and the camera.

  • Treo 700P and WiFi?

I'm interested in getting a Treo 700P and from what I've read it seems like it'll do everything I need it to, especially when using The Missing Sync by Mark/Space.
My only problem is I want to be able to connect to the Internet and check my email using a traditional wireless network found at most "technology savvy" hotels.
I know I can sign up for this capability for an extra $40/month, but quite frankly I'm not willing to pay that for the little amount of time I'll use this feature. That said, what solutions are available to me? Does Palm make a seperate WiFi card for the 700P? Should I be looking at something else?

The 700p will definitely do everything you want, but offer WiFi connectivity. The EvDO data connection is no where near as fast, though much faster than second generation technologies. Fourth generation network technologies are beginning to appear already to replace EvDO, and WiMAX will be available widely for client use is less than twelve months. WiMAX is real broadband speed using extended ethernet technology, though it will not be initially deployed as widely as cellular technologies like EvDO.
What you want to do at the moment just cannot be accomplished with a Palm smartphone other than the Palm 700w or 700wx. It's too bad, because Entourage is not the only issue - you should take a look at the Windows Mobile Explorer browser before ever seriously considering the use of such a device. And Windows Mobile defeats AvantGo synchronization, internet sharing and synchronization via WiFi as a security measure, and even the Missing Sync for Windows Mobile cannot override this inherent limitation.

Please be sure to rate the Answers to Questions

A common question we are asked is 'why is my device not achieving 11ac data rates?'
One of the most common answers relates to client compatibility/capability. To get the highest possible data rates of 11ac (assuming proper distance and RF health), the AP and the client device must both be capable supporting the requirements - 5GHZ, 80MHz Channel, short guard interval, 3 spatial streams. Each spatial stream has a max of 433.3Mb/s (at 80MHz, short GI).
The majority of 11ac-capable wireless cards on the market do not support 3 spatial streams. Most adapters in wireless-capable devices are 1SS or 2SS.  For example, the Intel 7260 11ac adapter used in many devices is a 2SS adapter - therefore it's max possible data rate is 866.7.  Another common adapter in use is the 11ac Broadcom 3SS that Apple uses in the newer Macbooks.  These devices can achieve the 1.3GBs PHY data rate.
This guidance is the same for 11n adapters as well.  To achieve max rate, your 11n AP and adapter must both support 40MHz channels, 3SS, short GI.
Note: The 11n and 11ac standards both define support for 4SS.  4SS-capable devices are rare, so 3SS is essentially our reality.
One of the most useful references for questions related to this topic is the AP Data Sheet for each AP.  Here's the AP3700 for example:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/3700-series-access-point/data_sheet_c78-729421.html
Table 1 lists the expected data rate per MCS Index value by #SS at each channel width and GI. Indexes 0-7 are the same for 11n and 11ac (11n limited to 40MHz channels of course).  And MCS 8 & 9 are 11ac-only 256-QAM modulations.

  • On KeyUp change sprite and sound

I made something in Flash and it works fine. Now I am trying
    to migrate it to Director.
I need to have six sprites on the stage.. they are avi's and
they loop. Each has a sound cast memebers associated with it. They
are designed to run in synch.
I would rather re do it from scratch in director thatn import
the swf.But my lingo and understanding of Director is kinda almost
    zero.
I can get the mouseUp to change a sprite but I need key board
interactivity. And using key codes like (32) for spacebar etc
I need to adapt this very basic instruction
    (The code is below)
to this... onKeyDown change sprite "myClipOne" to member ==
    "myClipTwo"
and there is because there is a Play Sound behaviour attached
to the "myClipOne" sprite I also need this
on the same onKeyDown event to swap the sound from
"mySoundOne" to you guessed it "mySoundTwo"
Each of the movie sprites will have a bunch of keys
associated with it. And pressing keys just changes the avi and the
sound for each movie on the stage. Simple really but I am stuck
    with it.
I need to use Director for this project and would be most
    grateful for any help.
    Cheers

    Try something like:
    on keyUp me
    case _key.keyCode of
    32:
    sprite(1).member = member("myClipTwo")
    sound(1).play([#member: member("mySoundTwo")])
    36:
    sprite(2).member = ...
    sound(2).play([#member: member("...")])
-- other key codes listed as required
    end case
    end

  • Using lingo for returing cue points of a sound

    Hello all
for returning a list of cue point of a sound ,it is written
in the book that we should use the following lingo
put the cuePointNames of member "mySound"
realy I have a sound member which have cue points ,but I
don't know where to use this lingo ,and where I will see the result
thank you very much for your attention ,sincerely yours
    Mohsen

A "put" statement will place the result of the statement into
    the bottom
half of the message window. You can open the message window
    from the
Windows menu. In the top half of the message window you can
    type any
single line function call or command and see the result in
    the bottom
half. You can also use the put command from anywhere in your
    movie to
see the result. This is an extremely useful debugging tool.
    You can find
more on the message window and its uses in the online help.
Once you have a list of the cuePointNames you can use them to
    test the
sound file that you are currently playing. You can use the
isPastCuePoint() function. Look at the syntax for that
    function in the
    online help.
It is far simpler to use the sound channel property,
    elapsedTime. Look
at the online help information for Sound Channel to find more
information on controlling and monitoring sound playback.

  • Understanding users and groups

Hi. I'm new to Connect Pro and need to do a meeting with a named user (Host) who is also an administrator. If I want to create a meeting and be a moderator with the host, which group do I need to belong to on the administrator interface? I saw
    Administrator
    Administrator (Limited),
    Authors,
    Meeting Hosts
In other words, how can he as a meeting host/admin send me an invite so that I can be a moderator with the meeting host? We're just starting out with Connect Pro and trying to understand the lingo and how to create meetings, etc.
    Thank you.

All you need to do is be set as a Host.  Another way is for the other host to allow you into the meeting by sending the room URL and then promoting you to host status in the attendee pod. I think you need to just play with a test room and you will figure it out.  Pretty easy to use. The online in-room help system explains it all as well in great detail.
