page, is there an easy way to do this?

Have you tried inserting the snippet inside a single cell
table? You could hide the borders, then center the table as Peter
suggested.

More Cowbell - lining things up...

Folks -
I recently penned a song that actually does have a cowbell in it. I also programmed the drum tracks on a DR-770 and then dumped them into Logic. So far so good. Now when I hear JUST the drums and the cowbell together, something sounds just a hair off. Is there an easy way for me to take the cowbell track, show it next to the drum tracks, and observe just where on the beat things fall? Both are in MIDI and rendered in Audio. The MIDI answer is not as simple as 'just quantize it' - I really do need to see the two MIDI (or sometimes Audio) tracks side by side. Is there a way to do this in Logic?

Alignment Grids for Titler in PrE & PrPro

There have been several discussions on the lack of real alignment tools in Titler, for both PrE and PrPro. I use a workaround to this, and just Import a "grid" image, created in PS and Saved to .PSD with Transparency. I use the same technique to build layouts for PiP and similar.
One just Imports the .PSD into their NLE (Non Linear Editing) program, as a still, or as Footage in PrPro. The .PSD is then placed on the Timeline in a Video Track above any other Clips. The Title is then placed above the .PSD. In PrE, one sees the Video below the Title automatically. In PrPro there is a checkbox to do this.
The grid in the .PSD is used for alignment of the elements/text in the Title.
Be sure to remove the grid, when you are done, or in PrPro, you can turn off visibility for its Video Track. Otherwise, you WILL Export the grid, and that is not what you will likely want to do. Do not forget to disable this .PSD, before the Export.
Attached are an NTSC 16:9 .PSD and an NTSC 4:3 .PSD, with proper PAR for each.
Hope that this helps someone, where they need better alignment in Titler in either PrE, or PrPro.

I tested the grid idea...works well. I ended up layering stills with transparency to see the grid and line up ...I did a test title page and stills in the same psd file...and I didn't create an overall background image...but left the screen black (black video) in premiere...can do background image later...this was first time doing a layered psd to premiere...
I found the grid (especially with the various "weights" of letters in different fonts ( like the letter T or the letter O ) need to be shifted a bit for balance and the grid helps a lot with that, as well as the horizontal postition of the images. For some reason the images appear to go into layer OK vertically (centered at least, and can adjust from there depending again on "weight" issue), but horizontally they are off a bit (not centered exactly) all the time.
At any rate, I can see how the grid helps to get a reference for lining things up...so thanks for uploading that and sharing it.
I ended up using the eyeball and transparency a lot in psd, finally turning everything on and opaque before saving for import to premiere, and when in premiere I did what you suggested..put the grid on top video channel and it worked well.

ps. I'm finding it fun to do my own cross dissolves...so they aren't all the same exactly. Takes time though...so I can see big benefit to just using preset with a lot of images to deal with.

How Can I Do a Motion Picture Poster Credit Block?

Is there an "automated" way using styles (or something) to create a motion picture poster credit block? Typical of the formatting is for an artistic task to be stacked on two lines flush right to the name that follows which is the height of the two stacked lines. So you might have execuive producer 10/9 flush right Univers 39 with the producer's name 22 pt. But immediatelly following that on the same visual line you might have directed by on two lines followed by the director's name. The way I am doing it now, each name is it's own little "production" requiring extra spaces to line things up visually and the constant use of baseline shift. There's gotta be a better way.

Sorry for not carefully reading your post. I suspect Peter's right that you'll need some kind of table or repeated text boxes. But you can get a list item stacked using a variation of the right left tab example I posted and avoid lining things up with spaces and baseline shifts or creating a complex table. This could be done with two nested styles and then just step and repeat the text box:

For the purpose of continuity -- aka lining things up easily -- in a multi-track project, I would like to take fragments within a Garageband file and consolidate them into one piece. Get me?
In other words, instead of 6 little snippets spread out over a vocal track, I'd like to have 1 continuous track that goes from 0:00 to say 3:00. I just know it's an easy trick that has thus far eluded me.
I hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for any help.

be sure to have moved at least one region (just a TINY bit will do), or insert a bit of recorded silence, select all the regions and use the Join menuItem

3D Texturing Help

Hello
I'm currently using CS6 Ext. and I'm making a gun finish for Counter-Strike:Global Offensive.
There are some guides on making these but I think asking on the Adobe Forums would bring a better answer.
I'd like to put a graphic I made over a 3D object with a material on it, but it shows as an image in the 3D file.
Is there anyway to apply the graphic straight to the 3D object without putting it on the material layer and lining things up.

the trick is (many descriptions on the net, not my own idea!), to staple a bundle of replicators:
here the settings for my example:
added a text track '7'
hit L to create a replicator
make it 3D
set 'box'
just one row/line
'lots of' levels/tracks
and very close together ...
you can do the same with graphics, such as the circle
Or, I did it here with my teams logo = psd, layered photoshop file
(looks better animated + animated lights etc)
applying a turning behavior makes everything turn.
in my quick'n dirty demo, aside the 'wrong' axis, you'll notice at some point a 'flicker':
exact from side, the stacked layers are visible
add more, stack them closer together
this is no 'real' 3D, but for some needs 'well enough' .....

Please help me with my projectiles and angles program!!!!

I am having problems lining things up correctly. my program generates a table telling you how far an object will travel based upon its angle and its velocity. the chart has the angles along the top and the velocites down the side. default angles are 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80 and default velocities are 20,40,60,80,100. I need the user to be able to enter the smallest angle, the angle increment, and the total number of angles.
My problem is for exmaple if i enter the smallest angle as 20, increment as 5, and total number as 4 it will display the correct calculations but the angles on the top will not line up. It will display angles 0,5,10,15 when its suppose to be showing 20,25,30,35. Anyone know how to fix this?
Also i need the user to be able to enter the minimum initial velocity, maximum initial velocity, and the number of equally spaced initial velocities. for example if the user enter smallest velocity 10, largest velocity 30, and total number 5 it should display the distances for initial velocities 10,15,20,25,30. Any ideas on that one? I will post my code below. Thanks again for any help you can provide!!

Ok i re wrote my code another way hoping it would help solve things. My prob now is that it will only display the correct degree headings and not produce any form of calculation. How to remove an object/person from a photo

I am working on some photos. I would like to keep the background image, but remove the people or an object in it. Is there a way to do that? If yes, how?
Also could someone tell me how to add a person to a different background (than the original picture). What are the steps or ways to do that?
Note: I have Photoshop Elements 6 for macs

Actually, this was fairly easy to do.
1. Use the Polygonal Lasso tool to roughly select the person, then use the arrow keys to move the selection to the left:

2. Copy/Paste the selection to a new layer (Layer 1), and use the Move tool to move this to cover the person:

3. Since the right edge of the layer did not line up I had to slightly rotate the layer. You can use the Move tool to rotate but since it was a very fine adjustment I used the Free Transform and played around with the Rotate value in the toolbar. A value of -0.5 lined things up nicely, but I also had to use the arrow to nudge the layer up a bit.

As you can see in this shot the border of the new layer was noticeable:

To fix this I used the Clone tool to clone adjacent areas over the seams, as you will see in the final shot.
4. With the new layer, some of the morter between the bricks was missing and in some cases this was noticeable. Here's an example, a brick on the bottom row in the center:

I could have used the Clone tool to clone morter from elsewhere but I found it easier to use the Rectangular Marquee tool to select morter from another brick, Copy/Paste the selection to a new layer (Layer 2), and Move this layer over the missing morter.

5. The clockwork was corrupted from Layer 1, so I temporarily turned off the visibility of Layer 1 and selected on the Background layer a portion of the good clockwork:

6. Copy/Pasted this selection to a new layer (Layer 3), moved this layer to the top of the stack and used the Move and Free Transform tools to fine-tune the position. I had to use the Eraser tool to remove some of Layer 3 which covered the "R", and also used the Clone to clean up a bit more.

Working out where it ends

Ok, so after moving an Object (photo) with one of the motion path effects, is there any way of working out the coordinates of where the picture ends up?
I have a photo of a landscape, I create an highlight box followed by some lines to enlarge it (much the same as the zoom tool but without using it) and I then have a clip taken from a much higher resolution version of the original photo which is zoomed in further and create the zoom effect.
I then fade everything out except the clip and motion path it from right to left. I then want to do the fake zoom effect again using a proper high resolution version of the object that is photographed. I just cannot work out where to put the "zoom lines" as I can't work out where it ends up!
Is there a way of working it out or is it all done by eye?
I can't even go to the next slide and put the clip in and start again as I still have to line it up by eye!

Unfortunately Captivate Effects don't give you the same level of control over this type of thing as you get in products like Flash for example. There's nowhere on the interface to see the and final X or Y coordinates of the image, only it's starting point before the effect kicks in.
I think lining things up by eye might be your only recourse.

Some basic text questions

1. when creating text with the Text tool, I see that it creates an anchor point at the beginning of the text, though I am unable to do anything with it
with the Direct Selection Tool. Is there anything I can do with this anchor point, or is it just for lining things up?
2. How do you decide which anti-aliasing option to use? Does it depend on the selected font? which works best for onscreen display? for print?

1) THe anchor point moves, for Point text, based on the text alignment. Aligned left, it's on the left. Aligned right, it's on the right. Aligned center it's centered. It is used for alignment and positioning to show where the base anchor is for the point text. Area text (text in a bo) on't have the single anchor point.
2) All depends upon what you want. There is no standard setting.

JTextArea Character size?

Well I have a problem lining things up in JTextArea...

Exporting to ProTools?

Greetings!
Here's the rundown - I'm in the middle of a recording project, and in the interest of saving time and money I'm wondering if it's possible to record some music in Garage Band, and then export it to ProTools LE at the recording studio. In particular, we have some digital piano tracks that will be recorded to the click track used for the other instruments in the studio. Can I take an output from our PA (or direct from the piano) and record it into Garage Band?
My understanding is that I need to export it to iTunes, burn a CD, and then record the CD into ProTools and hope we can get the tracks to sync up.
Is this possible? Thanks for the input!

Exactly, Christoph.
I'm looking to record the audio part, not just MIDI data. Before we even did any recording in the studio, we recorded a MIDI click track into ProTools that I had previously programmed. Drums, bass, some guitars and vocals were added on top of that click. In the interest of time (and money) I input the original click track into the digital piano and recorded some more keyboard parts onto the keyboard itself. Because a MIDI file won't give the exact same sounds I'd planned, we had hoped to move the keyboard into the studio and lay the prerecorded tracks into ProTools. My goal now is to use GarageBand as a "delivery system" - to record those parts and take them to the studio on CD rather than moving the whole piano. Since everything is recorded to the original click track, this should work, right? I'd think it would be just a matter of lining things up.
Next I need suggestions for hooking the piano up to the iBook - can we go direct from the piano into the computer, or is it better to go through a mixer and take a signal from there?
If this works, I may actually do the same with some other parts, including (electric) guitar and percussion. Feel free to share any other tips for these, as well. Thanks!

Mail app is blank. I can not see any thing but a blank page with blue lined format. It does not shut down either. It just blinks out after a few seconds and the icon is there alone on my home screen then everything goes black and my home screen comes

MY Mail app does not respond in anyway to anything. The icon shows I have over 300 emails but I have no access to them. When I tap on the Mail icon a blank white page comes up with the blue format lines. No emails, no inbox, nothing, not a single letter of the alphabet is there. Within a few seconds it blinks out and I see the icon and my home screen. Soon it just blinks out to black. I am left with the icon at the bottom center of the screen. I have no way to shut it down. I have no access to the emails (300) in my inbox. All that is happening is my memory is getting filled up with emails. I would appreciate any solution to this problem barring deleting my email set up in settings.

If I'm understanding your situation, you've got an iPad running iOS 6.1.3 and the Mail app is not working. I understand you don't want to remove and re-add your email account.
The first thing I would suggest is to make sure your iPad is backed up to iCloud or iTunes.
Do you have an iMAP or a POP email account? When you go online to your email service provider's website, are you able to access the 300 emails in your inbox?
Since the Mail app is part of your iOS operating system, upgrading that software to the latest version, which is 8.1.3 may resolve this issue.

Photos covering captions and not lined up

I am adding photos to a photo page in iWeb and they line up fine with captions However when I publish them they are not lined up (some are higher than others and some to the side). Some of the captions show but others are covered up by the photos. Appreciate any help. I am trying to complete a website for a family reunion. Thanks

The misalignment often happens to me. I associate it with two things, only one of which is in my control. First, as I create a page in iWeb I start out doing one thing, then get off on tangents and mix up (don't complete) what I started out doing. This has been an issue with text and "show caption" as I jump from one thing to another; Inspector and Font formats. My solution is to do one thing at a time completely, say rename the photos, then adjust the show caption size, then replace the background, rather than jump from one to another changing my mind as I go.
The second issue is how the page is drawn on my computer screen after it's been published to iMac. I've had misalignments of every component at one time or another (sometimes all at once). Photos are misaligned, text boxes expanded, titles repositioned, backgrounds off center, etc. None of this is in my control. I can reload the page (after clearing my cache so I'm not reloading from my computer) and the page turns out fine. Sometimes it has other issues.
So my advice is, design & re-design your pages as many times as you wish, but when you have it the way you want it, redo the page from scratch, one component at a time, save and upload this version.
I looked at the alignment of photos on Tux's link. I think this goes to issue two, how the page loads, not how it was created. An unintended consequence of its current look (with some photos sliding down over their captions) is that it appears the entire page was originally a photograph of Polaroid’s itself, and a slight breeze moved several snapshots just before the picture was taken. I found this pleasing, although I know it's not what was intended.
Below is a link to the first page of some photos I've taken. These photos do not line up. I've tried correcting it (although I never found a "mistake") and re-loaded them to iMac. My next step is to follow my own advice and recreate the page from scratch, then see if it is misaligned.

Nokia 5233 lining on screen

i am having a screen problem with my Nokia 5233, when my phn stay for about 5min , there some lining on the screen like a screen server and it is impossible for me to detect my incoming caller, i have experience this for about a month, i tort the screen is bad but the screen of my phn is ok , so i dnt know waht to do , pls help me

Most probably you need to do what Iris9290 has suggested..but you can try your luck by first Soft Resetting the phone by dialing *#7370# followed by 12345 (Default code unless changed by you..) when prompted. Back-up all your data thru' Nokia suite before the Reset as it will wipe all data from the phone Memory...
Other thing you may try is see if the phone Firmware is up todate..If not then Update it... else, re-install the existing one..
The reason for suggesting the above is, since you mention that after some efforts the Display becomes normal so if it is NOT related to Hardware but only software then the problem may get resolved without replacing the screen ....
