Lining up two tracks in Multitrack

Hi
Is there a way of accurately lining up
tracks  I only can do it by dragging one or the ot
her and tis is too coarse .Anyway it can be done  minutely
like you can moving the cursor  with the arrows Audition Pro 2

Click on the track that you wish to move. Then you can nudge it backwards and forwards by holding the Alt key whilst you click left or right with the cursor keys. The coarseness of the nudges depends on how far you are zoomed into the audio. The further zoomed in you are the smaller the moves.

  • Syncing two tracks in cs5.5

    Hello,
I have two tracks of a piano concerto (solo and orchestral accompaniment).  I would like to "morph" the orchestral accompaniment track (change the tempo on a bar/phrase by bar/phrase basis) to match the solo track. Since it is classical music, it doesn't have the trong stransients of a drum beat.
What is the best way to accomplish this in Audition CS 5.5?
I am new to audio editing. Can someone point me to a "step-by-step tutorial" of how to accomplish this over a short sequence (obviously I would repeat the steps many times over a whole movement).
Thank you very much for any help.

Hmm... more questions first, I'm afraid...
When you say you 'recorded' the piano solo, did you actually play it in or program it? And how accurately timed is it against the orchestral recording?
Given a free choice, I'd start with an audio recording of the piano, cut it up into segments and place these appropriately against the orchestral background. Specifically in this instance, you'll have an electronic piano sound that won't have anything like the ambience that the orchestral recording will have (even if it's been electronically generated, they're almost bound to have added something to it). If you start mucking around with the orchestral recording, you're going to alter that, and the results probably won't sound very convincing at all. You can fake the acoustic on your final piano track though, to make it sound at least something like the orchestral track, and because it won't have been stretched if you do it last, you are far less likely to notice what's happened.
So as far as I'm concerned the process may well go something like this: (Sorry that this is rather long-winded, but I can't see an easier way to explain it to a self-confessed beginner)
Place the orchestral accompaniment on track one, and put a rendered audio version of the piano on track two. You will need to split this into individual chunks that you can work on, but first you need to understand how this works. You're probably going to get a few system messages saying words to the effect of 'this track is in use in your multitrack session, and what you're doing may screw up other things', but you can ignore those, as long as you start at the beginning and work forward, and don't redo any of the timing changes.
What happens with any file in Multitrack View is that it's not actually cut up at all, but selectively played in a non-destructive manner. In English, this means that there's just one file, but different bits of it can be started at different points (or even repeated), and you can do this in a very flexible manner. So apparently 'editing' the file in MV isn't really doing anything physical to it at all - just altering the way the file's played.
But, with your piano we may well need to lengthen bits of it (or even shorten them). And unfortunately, the only way to do this in CS5.5 is to open the file in Edit View (just double-click on it), select the bit you need to change by highlighting it, and using the Stretch and Pitch effect. If you use the iZotope Radius setting, you'll keep the best quality, but you're going to need to be very careful about how much alteration you do. Fortunately you can fine-tune this pretty accurately, although how small the segments will need to be rather depends upon how well you 'played' this. After doing some of this, you'll need to save the file you've been stretching in EV, and that, unfortunately, is a destructive process (ie not a replay-only thing, but a permanent change to the file). But that's why you have to move forward and not go back; going back and altering something will make a timing difference to everything you did afterwards. You may have to think about that for a while, but I'm sure you'll get it in the end!
I suppose that one way around this - and probably what I'd do - would be to make a number of smaller files of the piano part, and insert them separately. This way you get more options about changing things easily, because the changes will only alter small parts of what you're doing rather than the whole thing. Putting 'splits' in the files in multitrack is easy - there's a right-click option that will put a split at the cursor point in any highlighted file, and when you've done that you can move them apart by dragging them with the mouse. And it's this operation that you're going to have to get used to, because that's how you get the individual bits of file in the correct place WRT the orchestral file.
With the possible exception of the stretching part, this is actually easier to do than to describe. But anyway, that's the gist of it. Do some experiments with a bit of it and see how you get on.

  • HT203200 I HAVE JUST PURCHASED LES MISERABLES FROM THE STORE AND TWO TRACKS DID NOT DOWN LOAD. WHAT CAN I DO AND CAN I GET A REFUND FROM THE STORE OR DELETE ALBUM AND GET THE STORE TO DOWNLOAD AGAIN

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED LES MISERABLES FROM THE STORE BUT TWO TRACKS DID NOT DOWNLOAD. CAN I GET ANOTHER DOWNLOAD FROM THE STORE OR A REFUND? ALTERNATIVELY CAN I DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE ALBUM AGAIN FREE?

Try the Store tab in iTunes and Check for Downloads.
If that doesn't work go to the main itunes store screen in itunes and on teh right side under quick links see if you have a purchased secrion - do the tracks appear there for download?
    Failing that contact support:

  • How to VIEW two tracks's materials SIMULTANEOUSLY and SYNCHRONIZED in MONITORS?

How to VIEW two tracks's materials SIMULTANEOUSLY and SYNCHRONIZED in MONITORS?
"Program-monitor" shows the final edited material, and "Source-monitor" shows only one track at a time, and NOT SYNCHRONIZED with the sequence. "MultiCam-monitor" shows the tracks as I need, BUT editing is very stiff:  I want to do edits+cross-fades by hand IN THE TIMELEINE rather than by clicking the monitors. (Some of the "MultiCam-monitor's" other problems: 1) the timeline's time-inspector doesn't move while clicking the monitors, 2) vice-versa: monitor-image doesn't roll when the space-key is pressed for playback the timeline, 3) monitor doesn't show the cross-fades.....)   I understand the "Reference-monitor" doesn't help either at this.
I would SO much like to SEE all tracks' materials simultaneously in whatever monitor, to edit efficently in the timeline.
    Software: Premiere CS3 version 3.2.0
Operating System: Mac OS X (v10.4)

You can only do this in the multicamera monitor.  That's what it's there for.  Proper procedure is to cut there, then go to the timeline and add transitions.
If you're multicamera monitor playback isn't working correctly (I admit having a hard time understanding your points here), then try solving those.

  • Two Track Video Recorded

I have an iChat recorded by two tracks (both users on each side of each other) in the video. Since the movie is two tracks instead of one (video & audio), when I upload it to YouTube, it just shows one user. Same in iMovie, although both sides appear in the timeline, when my mouse moves over my side, it still plays the other persons.

do I have any of the others?)
Hard for me to tell from here. Surely you would now if you paid $30 for QT Pro or went to the trouble of downloading MPEG Streamclip from Square-5 (even if it was free).
How would I do it with GarageBand?
In any case, to convert in GarageBand, create or open a Podcast project and drop the source file to the work area. Get rid of any unwanted tracks that may be left over from your old/new podcast project. Make sure the "end" point for the project is aligned with the drop-imported content you just added. Now select the "Export Movie to Disk..." Share menu option. Select the "Expert" setting, press the "Export" button, and wait for the real "Export" window to open. When it does, select the process you ant to use. You can use "Movie to MPEG-4, DV Stream, TV, iPod, iPhone, or QuickTime" options. If you know little or nothing about conversion settings, you may want to use either the TV, iPod, or iPhone pre-set option. All other options require additional user settings.

  • I want to clip an voiceover audio track to seperate the audio into two tracks. How do I do that in iMovie 09?

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to take one voiceover audio track and seperate into two tracks so I can have a timed pause in between the two tracks. In HD I could clip the audio tracks and move them. What can I do in iMovie 09?
    Thank you

I would duplicate the project. Then delete everything except the portion with the VoiceOver.
Then Share/Export Using QuickTime as Sound to AIFF. Then edit it in GarageBand.

  • Adjusting Audio Levels Of Two Tracks

How do you adjust the audio level's of different tracks. I have a video and for parts I want the background music (two channel stereo) to play and for other parts I want to hear the audio from the video (two channel stero). Also, for some parts I want to hear a mix of the two tracks.
From previous experience the audio from music is a lot louder than the audio from my video camera thus, I will need to adjust the volume of the music track (make quieter) or the audio of my video track (make louder) to obtain a consistent audio level for the whole movie.
    Any help is much appreciated!
    G5 1.6 Ghz, 2 GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   (2) 250 GB External Drives, 20" CInema Display

    Changing audio levels?
At the bottom left of the Timeline is a button with a ZigZag line. This is called the Overlays, it puts lines over the clips in the Timeline that can be adjusted, they represent the audio levels or video opacity in the case of video tracks.
With the lines visible, Click the Pen Tool (P key) and the cursor changes to a Pen Nib. Click the red line in the audio tracks to insert Key Frames (pink dots).
You can drag them up and down to change volume. Put in at least two to change levels from one point to the other, they can be dragged left or right as well, to lengthen a fade, for example.

  • Trying to Get the "Difference" Between Two Tracks

What I am trying to accomplish is this: I have an audio track of a voiceover with a music bed beneath it. I also have the bed music by itsself, without the voiceover. I want only the voice portion. Is there a way that I can "cancel out" the music portion or get the difference between the two tracks (just the voice portion)? It seems that there should be some means of doing this, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do it!
    Any advice?

If it's exactly the same music track, then as long as you line it up sample-accurate and the levels co-incide, you can do a simple subtractive process. You need both files available, trimmed to length. Open them both in Edit View, and copy one of them to the clipboard. Open the other, and select Mix-paste, and use the 'invert' option. That will effectively subtract one from the other, with the difference being your vocal.
Have to tell you though that the chances of getting this spot on are amazingly low... any errors at all leave you with bleed-through, about which you can do nothing.

  • Silence at start of first two tracks

Whenever I burn a CD, or bounce the CD, I end up getting silence at the start of the first two tracks. It is not an added pause between songs, but actually silences the music, which should be playing under it. Then about 10 seconds into the track, the music suddenly jumps back up, 10 seconds into the song.
Is anyone else getting this? I've tried with plugins on the mix, without plugins, but no luck. I tried creating a new CD with new songs, to see if that CD project had somehow been corrupted. The new project did it as well. I haven't trashed my prefs or anything yet. I'll give that a try, but anyone else have any ideas?
Oh, and yes, it plays just fine when I'm listening to it from Waveburner itself. There are no misplaced fades or anything.
    Thanks

  • ITunes "hangs" after playing first two tracks

Testing with three different CDs, I have discovered that my iTunes "hangs" after playing the first two tracks. That is, it will play the first two tracks fine, then appear to play the first two seconds of the second track again and stop. I am also unable to eject the CD or quit the program, instead getting the Spinning Beach Ball of Death, so I must force-quit the program, after which I am able to eject the CD.
I have repaired the disk permissions and verified the disk with no problem in both cases. I have also shut down and restarted a few times between tests, but to no avail. I hope this issue is not an indication of a physical problem with my drive. (I have not tried running Disk Warrior yet, but that may be my next step.) Also, this problem occurred both before and after I upgraded to 10.4.11 so it seems to be unrelated to this OS upgrade, but it may be related to my upgrading to iTunes 7.5. Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Yep, that did the trick. Many thanks! In fact, after unchecking Error Correction and successfully playing a CD all the way through, I even rechecked EC and immediately tried playing the same CD, with the same problematic "Track 2 Hanging" result.
Odd that this should be the solution, though. It begs the question as to whether or not EC should ever be checked. I realize that this feature is for importing and not for playing tracks, but it seems tedious to have to remember to check EC when importing and then uncheck it for playing. I guess I'm asking whether or not EC is effective enough to warrant the inconvenience of having to uncheck and recheck and uncheck, etc. Any thoughts on that?

  • TS1424 I've just downloaded an album and at least two tracks are incomplete, even though there was no error in downloading

I've just downloaded an album and at least two tracks are incomplete, even though there was no error in downloading reported.

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) have you tried deleting them from your iTunes library and redownloading them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes ? Re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • How compare the code between two tracks in NWDS

    Hi
We have NW04 Sp18 Portal with MSS & ESS Sp13.At present version we have made lot of custom changes.
Now we have to upgrade ESS to Sp14. As per the JDI cook book we are going to create new track.
After that how will we implement the custom changes to the new source code?
Is there any way to compare the changes between these two tracks to implement the old custom changes to the new source code?
Any tools available in NWDS to do this
Its urgent please give your valuable information
    Thanks & Regards
    Gopal

    Hi Gopala,
You won't like this answer, but unless you have documented all your changes very accurately, as far as I know it's basically the only option you have. Check out the content of both tracks and use a good diff tool to check the differences. Personally I use [WinMerge|http://winmerge.org/]
    Kind regards,

  • TS1717 i recently downloaded two tracks from itunes: they will not play in my windows media center even though i have added them to that location. any idea what other trouble shooting i can attempt on this issue??

i recently downloaded two tracks from itunes and they will not play in my windows media center. i have never had this problem but the two tracks play on my PC just not in the windows media center and usually all my itunes music plays in there no problem??? any idea what to do? thanks

I'm searching for an answer to almost the same exact problem, using almost the same exact hardware and software. Has an answer been found?
The files that I'm trying to burn come from eMusic, and they are formatted mp3. Recently, (after the iTunes update to 9.2.3?,) they would not drag and drop from iTunes into Toast. From several different discussions I've tried working around this by dragging to the desktop first then dragging and dropping to Toast, going to Toast from a programmer's homemade help window, " iToons," and today, after talking with Apple support, going directly to Toast from my eMusic folder. Alas, all recordings do not perform like they use to. Sometimes they play and sometimes not. There is one I managed, that is listenable, but sometimes I have to put it in my car stereo over and over again as it gets ejected with an error code, sometimes, finally it takes it... Some of the recordings on other disks I've burned are not clean - they have white-noise sounds creeping in... I use to have none of these problems. One time as I was listening to a CD that managed to play, and it just stopped playing... Is there an answer out there to get back to how it use to be? Thanks for you help.

I have a video made with two cameras, in two tracks. Sometimes only one camera is running (because they both turn off at certain clip lengths). I'm trying to cut them together using the multicamera window, but I get no audio from track 2. How can I get audio from track 2. (My kludge is to cut the original audio from track 2 and move it into track 1.)

Good Grief!  Now that I know the answer, I can find it all over the place.  But before, I got so many google references that just told me it couldn't be done!  That made me think the answer must be obscure -- when it was really simple, and should have been obvious to me.
The lesson seems to be: do more work looking around the panels and menus of the program itself before trying to look in "help" or "google".
Thanks, again, Jerry, for your consideration.
