Link 2 computers on lightroom

how do i link two computers using a shared catelog of lightroom 5

Short answer?
Lightroom isn't designed to support this workflow.
1. A catalog cannot be on a network device - the images can but not the catalog.
2. Only one instance of Lightroom can access a catalog at a time.
I have seen some hacks that will allow this - sort of but I wouldn't trust client data to them.

  • Link PSE 10 and Lightroom 4

I cannot hand over photos from Lightroom 4 to PSE10 to process there further (Mac). Tried almost everything (with formats...) but they will not show up in PSE. No problem loading photos directly from database, though. Any idea? Thanks.

    Thanks again.
The problem lies between your steps 1 and 2:
I select the respective photo in Lightroom,
chose "process in…. Photoshop Elements 10",
    select the option "Process copy…",
the copy gets generated (visible as a second PSD thumbnail in Lightroom),
    PSE window opens up
    but the window remains blank.
I am using "PSD, Adobe RGB and 8 bit" currently as defaults (as I think that are the least "challenging"  settings) but tried also everything else that came to my mind - no success so far.

Works OK for me; how are you opening the files. You normally make the round trip from Lightroom as follows:
    1) Ctrl+E in the Library to export selected image with develop settings (I choose PSD)
    2) Edit in Elements; then Ctrl+S to replace (overwrite) Lightroom export copy
    3) Ctrl+W to close in Elements and update Lightroom thumbnail.

  • Technical Newbie Need help linking 2 computers with WRT54G

Hi, Please excuse my non-technical language!
I have 2 PCs that I would like to connect together so that one can get files from the other and vice versa.
I have a broadband modem hooked up to a linksys wrt54g wireless router, and each computer is hooked up to the router with cables. I figured out how to configure it so that both computers can get on the internet and I haven't had any problems there.
This may sound dumb since I was able to get online using the router, but what I need some basic help with is how to connect the 2 computers to each other.
I read the information on the website and I'm sure this is possible, I just don't know what I need to download or change on the computers to make it happen.
Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

What operating systems do you have on your PC's?  There are a few ways to configure your network but largely depends on your operating systems you have.  Basically you can open the network wizard and set up the network on each PC or you can do it manually.  Depending on your OS go to your control panel and click on Network Connections or Network Setup Wizard .  If you use the network Wizard just go through the set up or you can click on Network Connections and on the left side there is a link to "Set up a home or small office network" if your OS is Windows XP.  Make sure both PC's are on the same workgroup and file and printer sharing is turned on.

  • Linking two computers

so i've got one computer at 10.3.9 that's been our workhorse. we're purchasing another computer that has 10.4 on it. they'll both have final cut pro and be able to do stuff. like make dvd's, export videos, etc... how do i go about linking the two computers together? or is it possible? i'd also like a fast solution since i'd be working with large file sizes (in the gigabytes.)

Not quite clear what your needs are, to do a one-time migration of files so you can retire the old computer, or to use both computers and continually share files so you can work on projects with either one. Some good suggestions for both situations already posted here, so you may want to implement both techniques to perform an initial migration using FW target disc mode or physical media for large files then use network file sharing through a high-speed wireless or wired router to access smaller files on a daily basis. Using Chicken of the VNC you can even use one Mac as a console to perform work on the other Mac, with a slight network lag in the display.
One thing to consider in sharing work between a 10.3 and 10.4 machine: you might find slight differences in the apps versions and their data files, you might consider upgrading the older machine to 10.4 or at least make sure you use the same version apps on both machines so the project files will be truly interchangeable.

  • Linking two computers together

Can I link two macs together so I have access to both but the other computer doesn't have access to mine?

If you own both and have admin accounts on them, yes. On the "other" computer, go to System Preferences, Sharing, and turn on File Sharing.
When the two computers are on the same network, you should see the other computer appear in your sidebar in Finder. Click it, authenticate with your admin details (from the other computer), and you now have access to its files.

  • Need help linking 2 Computers via QMaster (clustering)

I think I understand the general gist of how to accomplish this, but when I tried what various tutorials recommend, I wasn't able to see my MacBook Pro cluster while looking in the QAdministrator panel on my iMac. I had the two comps linked up via an ethernet cable, and used Command-K while in Finder to actually connect to the local address.
So, my only guess as to why the clusters can't see each other is because I'm not running the same version of QMaster. I have (I believe) 3.5.2 on my iMac, as well as the entire Final Cut Suite, whereas I only have Final Cut Express, and QMaster 3.0.5 on my MacBook Pro. Is this why the clusters can't see each other?
If this is the case, what's programs DO need to be the same version? Do both computers need the same versions of the Final Cut Suite, Compressor, AND QMaster in order to link up? If so, I'm assuming I can just take my original FCP disks and install them on my MacBook. Is that a correct assumption?
I appreciate all feedback, and any other tips or recommendations any of you may have.

You are correct with your diagnosis. Mismatched versions of QMaster and Compressor will not work together as a cluster. Here's some more information:
    Installing the Software
The End User License Agreement for Final Cut Studio says that you can install your copy of FCS on one desktop and one laptop that you own, but they cannot launch similar apps simultaneously. What that means, is you can install FCS 3 on your MacBook Pro, (which will give you matching versions of Compressor and QMaster, and matching codecs). Then you should be able to set up your cluster.

  • How to break the link between photoshop and lightroom when saving a photo?

I've had an ongoing issue with saving copies of photos I import from LR to PS and back into LR. Any multiple copies I make get erased when they move back to LR. My solution has been to save a copy in an extra folder apart from Lightroom and import them in later. It's rough, but it works. But now I have a new demon.
I tweaked a photo in LR, made a copy to keep it safe, then sent the copy over to PH where I did some magic. I Saved As in that special other folder, closed the tab, got the usual box asking if I wanted to save the changes (of course I did), I went back to LR to see both the original and copy changed over to the PS version. I went back to PS, opened the .psd, unclicked the mask, clicked the checkbox, when back to LR and both the original and copy in LR had the mask removed.
    I'm missing something here.
There m u s t be a way to break the link between PS and LR so that when I save a copy of a photo I made in LR the original and copy remain two separate photos. Does anyone know how?
    Thanks,

I think I am a little confused. What you are describing seems more like a Project Server "Profile" issue, than a SharePoint to MS Project Sync.
If my guess is correct, then you just need to set the default profile to be something other than your computer.
If I am wrong, a screenshot of the error would be really helpful.

  • Ask for a download link for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 Student and Teacher Edition.

I bought an Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 Student and Teacher Edition from the campus. It only comes with the product code on the card without the installation CD.
Because the software downloaded from the official website don't accept the serial number registered for the student version, I am wondering where could I download the older version that accept the student serial number.
    Thank you.

If the software you downloaded from the Adobe Updates page, what did you mean by this statement?
“Because the software downloaded from the official website don't accept the serial number registered for the student version”

  • Linking 2 computers with Logic node, anyone try it?

Has anyone established a way to utilize 2 computers side by side to share the processing with logic?
I have a macbook intell and a non intell mac mini, can anyone advise on this set up?

I think your question is legitimate because I've
never found any mention of using Logic Node between a
PPC and Intel machines in the manual.
Hi,the reason you do not see mention of Intel in the Logic Pro manual...is because it was written before Intel chips were available on the Macs.
However, I've read that this is possible.
The latest version of the Node app,WORKS across Intel and PPC platforms.I use it every day,my main machine is an Intel MackBook CoreDuo 2gHz,and my slave is my G4 PPC iBook.
In your case, the problem would be the Mac Mini, because you need to
have computers with Gigabits ethernet ports and the
Mac Mini come with standard 10/100.
FALSE!!! NOT TRUE!!! While Logic recommends the use of Gigabit Ethernet to run the node app,you only need it on the HOST computer. And if you are running more than one slave, then it IS neccessary to use a Gigabit Ethernet Hub,in order to be able to have enough bandwidth to avoid problems between the host and slave computers.
BUT you CAN use any mac with an 10/100 ethernet protocol as a SLAVE NODE.It just will not give you as much horsepower as the Gigabit protocol (100 kbits VS 1000kBits...)
You could, for instance, have a G5 with Gigabit Ethernet, going to one 4-port Gigabit Ethernet Hub,and that going to 4 Mac of any kind, either 10/100 OR Gigabit.
    Cheers

  • Lightroom 5.3 update link takes me to Lightroom 5.2 download!

I am using Lightroom 5.2 on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit machine.  When I boot up Lightroom if, of course, informs me that 5.3 is available.  I click on the install button on the message, and it takes me to the page to download 5.2.  I try the Search for Updates option in  the Help menu, and the same thing happens.  I think to myself, "Perhaps there is a typo on the Lightroom 5.3 download page, and it just says 5.2 by mistake."  Not so. When I download LR from that page, it is indeed 5.2.
Why am I unable to download the 5.3 update, and how can I fix this?
    Thanks for any ideas.

  • Link two computers to one image...

How do I use two computers in Photoshop CS6 Extended to view panels on one screen and the image being reworked on the other computers screen? Thank you.

You would have to set up the machines as dual Monitors. It would depend on the machines and the OS on exactly how to do that. You may want to Google to find description of how to proceed. Once done, Photoshop will span across monitors.

    Hi,
    I have the following HW.....
    - PBook G4
    - PowerMac G4
    - Graphite Airport Base Station (connected to modem for internet access)
Both cpu's subsequently access internet wirelessly as both have Airport cards built in)
I would like to know if it is possible that I can access the Powermac drive from the PB over the wireless network. I wanna be able to drop to & pull data from one to the other accordingly.
    Is this (easliy) possible?
    Thanks
    jiggy44

jiggy44, Welcome to the discussion area!
I would like to know if it is possible that I can access the Powermac drive from the PB over the wireless network.
Yes. Its just like using Ethernet. On the Power Mac, open the Sharing preference pane and enable File Sharing. That will allow the PowerMac to be visible to the PowerBook. More information can be found in KB 106461, Mac OS X: About File Sharing.
