Link a pdf file from flash for download?

I want to know how to link a pdf file from flash and make it availble for download?

that was fast
i know how to link to another page, using get url. would it do the same way with a pdf?
And also how do i get flash to force a download box, that will appear in front of the flash movie and prompt the user to download the file.

Problem linking to PDF file from generated help

I am using RoboHelp HTML, Version 7.02 to create WebHelp, and
I cannot open a PDF file that I linked to some text in a topic. (I
created a PDF file that contains all of the help system's topics so
users can print them all.)
I can open the PDF file just fine when I preview the topic,
but I cannot open the PDF file from the generated help system. (I
set up the link to open in a new window.) When I click the link for
the PDF file, nothing happens, not even an error message. If I
right-click the link and select Properties from the menu, the
Properties dialog box shows the following path to the file:
file:///C:/Users/Myname/Documents/My%20RoboHelp%20Projects/project%20folder%20
name/!SSL!/WebHelp/print_all_help_topics.pdf
To create the link, I first copied the PDF file into my
project folder, Then I right-clicked the Baggage Files folder and
selected New>Baggage File, and clicked Open to add the file to
my Baggage Files folder. Then I dragged the file name from the
Baggage Files folder onto the selected text in my topic, saved all
and generated the WebHelp.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this problem?

Hi Rick.
Yes, mark of the web is selected. I just turned that option
off and re-generated and the PDF opens just fine, but of course,
I'm getting the Internet Explorer message that my browser is trying
to restrict the webpage from running ActiveX controls ... I was
using mark of the web so that my customer's users won't get this
message, although I don't know what ActiveX controls my help system
would be running. I'm just hoping that my customer doesn't balk at
this message appearing. Is turning off mark of the web is my only
choice for getting the link to work?

were the useres can print a specific pdf document, stored in the
cd, by clicking a button.
Can anyone help me on this? Is there a print action in Flash

Opening .ppt or .pdf files from flash site

I'm trying to open a .ppt file directly into powerpoint or a

actionscript they always open in IE. Is it possible and how do I do

I read your thread with great interest and it sounds exactly
like what I'm looking for. The only downside is I can't seem to get
it to work. I have detailed below what I need to happen and what I
think I need to do to make it happen.
What I need to happen:
Open a .pdf or a .ppt in Adobe Reader or Powerpoint (for
respective file extensions) by clicking on a button contained on a
.swf movie. The scenario is that the .swf file is located in C:\My
Folder\flash.swf and the .pdf or .ppt are in the same folder.
What I need to do to make it happen:
Create a folder in the following location C:\My
Folder\fscommand
Create a .bat file (called pdflauncher.bat) and save it in
C:\My Folder\fscommand - the .bat file has the code start
\myfile.pdf
Create a button on the .swf file with the actionscrip as
below:
on (release) {
fscommand("exec", "pdflauncher.bat");
This is what I've done based on reading through your previous
thread but it doesn't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RH11 404 - Page Not Found when linking to PDF file from search results using IE9 and IE10

I'm using RH11 (11.0.3.268) and I've included a number of PDF files as baggage files. The hyperlinks on the pages work fine and display the PDF files in a separate window, as expected. However, when searching for these same PDF files using the Search tab, I'm getting a 404 error with the filename. The description on the error shows the filename and says the "the requested resource is not available." This is occurring using IE9 and IE10. And, it only happens within the application, which packages the WebHelp with a war file.
I searched the forum and found where someone was having the same problem on Firefox, but was fine on IE. But, as mentioned, I'm finding it on IE.
Thoughts on how to fix this error?

Is the WAR file extracted at the point when the search is done? If not, I would expect it to fail.

Linking to local files (PDFs, Docs) from Flash - for CD Rom

Hi all,
I've been struggling for a couple of days with this one issue
- any help or advice greatly appreciated.
I'm creating a CD Rom using flash (will ultimately compile it
as an exe) and on this CD Rom will be several PDFs and Word docs
that need to be linked to. Are there any rules or specific criteria
for doing this? I've been trying a simple getURL and it absolutely
won't work (the file path gets jumbled up).
Any suggestions?
I'm working in CS3, using AS2.

Opening a pdf file from Flash Pro CS5 swf

Tried using the usual link to a pdf after creating a hidden button, but each time it opens a web window with Bing looking for the titled pdf not the actual pdf itself.
This is what I am using:
on(release)
GetURL("schematic.pdf","_blank");
Anyone have any ideas as to how this works in CS5. Be gentle I'm a Flash newbie.

Trying to link to a zip file from flash

I am trying to link to a zip file from flash for my users to
download. I can link to the file fine using get URL. The problem is
on a PC I am having trouble with the users settings for blocking
pop ups. If the user clicks one of the two links it works, if they
then click the other, it blocks the download from happening?
Works perfect on a MAC.
Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Word document or pdf file in Flash

I have created a Flash CBT that has an assessment at the end.
If they pass
the assessment, they can print out a User Access Form which
will have their
name, date, score, and some other pertinent pieces of
information. I have
this User Access Form in both Word and PDF format. And I know
that I can
open a Word or PDF file from Flash ... but I need it to be
populated with
the information that was gathered from within Flash ... so
I'm trying to
figure out how to bring these files into Flash.
Is it possible to put a Word document, or a PDF file into a
Flash file? If
so ... how?
And if not ... is it possible to send data from Flash to Word
... so that
their personalized data will already be in the document when
it opens?
Or ... any other ideas that might serve my purpose here?
The only thing I could think of to do was to turn this file
into a bitmap
and then use the bitmap in Flash ... with dynamic text fields
in the
appropriate places on a layer above the bitmap. The problem
with this is
that the quality of the bitmap is not as crisp and clean as a
Word or PDF
file would be.

Upgraded to firefox version 5 for Mac OSX 10, from version 3.6.18, now cannot open.pdf files from links . Only get blank page.

Download PDF File from Archiv to SAP Application Server

I need to download the PDF file from an NAST-Dataset (how is stored from the message via SAP ArchivLink) to the SAP Application Server.
1) At first i read the Archiv-Link data via function module WFMC_GET_ARCHIVE_OBJECT_TYPE
2) Then i get the Connection-Infos via function module ARCHIV_GET_CONNECTIONS_INT
3) Now i read the file from archiv as table via function module ARCHIVOBJECT_GET_BYTES
4) Save to the SAP Appl.Server via:
   - OPEN DATASET ld_dpfad FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE
   - LOOP and TRANSFER lf_archivobject TO ld_dpfad.
   - CLOSE DATASET ld_dpfad.
In the dialog of NAST-Dataset (Messages) i can open the PDF-File without any errors (display originals). But after the filetransfer to the SAP Appl.Server i get the following errors during the file opening dialog from Adobe Acrobat Reader:
- the embedded font u201CArialu201D cant to be extract
- not enough data for the picture
The reader can display the PDF-File but only without the picture (Logo) and with alternative font.
The same transfer from archiv and sending as an attachement to the BOR-Object via function module SO_DOCUMENT_INSERT_API1 works very fine and without any errors.
Can any one please help me to solve this Issue?

Now, the File looks a little bit different, but only in the STREAM-section.
During the Fileopen-Dialog i get only one message now - "not enough data for image" and the image will not displayed. The rest seems to be correct.

Go to F_Secure's Flashback Removal Tool web page, download their Flashback trojan detection/removal tool, and follow the instructions you find there.
Also install the latest java update which also tries to remove these trojans.

And only download the adobe flash plugin from the adobe site.
Update:
Just because you cannot download pdf may not be an indication of the trojan. There's been a number of reports about problems like that with pdf's. Look at the More Like This section on the right side of this page.
