Link checker finding files that don't exist
So basically my "orphaned files" report keeps showing files
I've deleted. They are no longer on my local site OR my remote
site, I have clicked "refresh" about ten times and rescanned even
more. I double click on the file in my list that should be gone and
guess what? It can't open it! Imagine that! Perhaps it's because
it's.... I don't know... DELETED? So basically I'm really
frustrated, is there any way to tell/show dreamweaver that these
"orphaned files" are now deleted and should no longer appear in my
test results?
Thanks

To speed up site management operations, dw uses a "snapshot"
of the site it
stores a site cache file.
If you delete or move files during an editing session, dw
doesn't normally
refresh the site cache file unless a manual refresh forces
it.
a restart of dw does force a refresh of that file before dw
finishes
opening.

Deleting files that no longer exist.
Maybe someone can help me. I know you've all seen when a music file no longer exists and it shows up in iTunes with the little .
I just lost an external harddrive recently, requiring me to update all of my music libraries. WMP works fine in that I do a search and it AUTOMATICALLY deletes all files that don't exist. My only option, as far as I can tell, in iTunes is to delete these files from the media library manually.
Someone please tell me there's a better way and Apple just tucked it somewhere inconspicuous. I really don't feel like deleting 10,000 music files manually.
Or does iTunes actually suck that much?I've created a script that will remove all the entries with exclamation marks.
Go to my iTunes scripts page and follow the link to download Perl. Install Perl, then download and run the script "itunesremovenotfound.pl".

Fails to find files that exist, fails to search everywhere
Running OSX 10.4.3 on a Powerbook G4 1.5gHz and on a PowerMac G4/867.
I hope it is because I am doing something wrong, but so far I am very unimpressed with Spotlight, for the following reasons:
•It fails to find files that are known to exist. For example, I have an application named MacTracker. It is in my Applications folder. When I enter
tracker
in the search field,
(with location set as wide as "computer" or as narrow as "Applications", with or without a "name contains" restriction) Spotlight will not show MacTracker as existing, even though I can see it with my own eyes, in the Applications folder window in the background. Only if I search on
Mactracker
will Spotlight see the application. This seems ridiculous to me. Any search, especially a "name contains" search, ought to show MacTracker if I search on track, tracker, actra, mactrac, etc. But, no. I have to enter "MacTracker" if I want it found.
•I make use of OSX Mail only occasionally. For most of my e-mail, I use a Unix mail handler known as PINE. PINE stores incoming and outgoing mail as plain text files in /users/me/mail . However, Spotlight refuses to include that location in its searches. I have tried using the Spotlight preferences to add
/mail to the list of specific places to search; no luck, Spotlight appears completely blind to anything outside of the locations Apple arbitrarily decided I needed to be able to search in.
Can anyone offer any ideas on how to make Spotlight work for me, instead of against me?
Thanks in advance.
Mac OS X (10.4.3)same problem here. the only answer i can find is....spotlight buh-lows. does anyone know if we can just revert to ye olden way of searching? simple things like: searching actually find the stuff you're searching for. and: list of items found arrangeable by date/alphabetically (just like any normal window in osx). also, is hitting apple-f essentially just bringing up spotlight in its own window, or does this search function differ at all? sorry to hijack the thread, but we suffer from the same problems. thank you!

Hello buy a movie on apple tv, and now can not find the device tells me I should go to settings / downloads / check downloads, but that does not exist in the menu of the apple tv, please help
Welcome to the Apple community.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals. -
Set image link to a file which not yet exists
Hi to all,
I'm working with InDesignCS2 on Mac and Windows.
Is it possible to set an image link to a file which does not exists yet.
I have document with some JPG files in low resolution.
Later, if the document layout is finished, I want to
change the image links of the document to corresponding PSD files.
E.g.
The document is layouted with the imges image1.jpg, image2.jpg, image3.jpg.
Now a want to change the links to corresponding PSD files image1.psd, image2.psd, image3.psd.
BUT: the PSD file do no exist on the current working place.
The images image1.psd, image2.psd, image3.psd exist on a destination working place.
The document with the missing PSD links will be copied to the destination working place,
in the some folder where the PSD file are placed.
If I open the document on the destination working place the links set on the first
working place should be satisfied now.
Now it should be possible to print the document with the hires PSD images.
My question:
How can I set a link to an image which does not exist yet?
The name, the path and the format are known.
Please let me know, if you have an idea how to do that.
Thanks.I might be proven wrong but I don't think you can link to a picture file that's missing.
That would be an interesting feature actually - but probably too smart.
What you could do instead is to use a dummy picture file to be replaced later in your production workflow.
Something I did a long time ago was to create a text frame with the full path written in there.
Then I was making a snapshot of this text frame.
Then I was replacing the text frame by a picture frame - same size, position, etc.
Then I was placing the snapshot within this picture frame...
At the end I had a link to a temporary picture file that was displaying its full path to the layout artist - providing a valid link to a real picture, to be switched to the real one later in my customer production workflow.
This is a classical case actually - and I'm sure there is dozens of solutions implemented out there . . .

front row looks in the movies folder and lists the contents, right?
well it's showing titles in that are not in and have never been
in my movies folder.
nothing happens when selecting these (probably because they don't exist).
of course i can't delete since they do not appear in the finder or
spotlight search.
i tried deleting everything in the movies folder, of course all
that's left in front row are the movies that don't exist.
any suggestions?
Message was edited by: avinbcAre your movies, even though they're gone from the hard drive, listed in iTunes somewhere? That would make them appear in Front Row even under the Videos section.
The Front Row preference file does not remember anything except which module was the last one you used.

How do I add a link for a file that can be downloaded
I'm sure that there's a very simple answer to this, and I
can't believe that I don't know it.
How can I add a link to a file that will then be dowloaded by
the user?
ThanksZip the file. Link to it. Upload it.

Get rowns that don't exist in any of the tables.
Hi,
I need to implement some views to compare systems.
This views will compare tables with the same structure and I want to extract the rows that don’t exist in any of the sides.
I need to implement some views to compare only two tables, others to compare 3 tables and one to compare 5 tables and another to compare 10 tables!
Each table can contains from a few rows up to 10 million rows (that was the biggest count I found for this tables).
My test scenario:
CREATE TABLE TEST_TABLE
(COL1 NUMBER ,
COL2 CHAR(25));
CREATE TABLE TEST_TABLE2
(COL1 NUMBER ,
COL2 CHAR(25));
CREATE TABLE TEST_TABLE3
(COL1 NUMBER ,
COL2 CHAR(25));
insert into TEST_TABLE (COL1,COL2) values (1,'2');
insert into TEST_TABLE (COL1,COL2) values (11,'t1');
insert into TEST_TABLE2 (COL1,COL2) values (1,'2');
insert into TEST_TABLE2 (COL1,COL2) values (22,'t2');
insert into TEST_TABLE3 (COL1,COL2) values (1,'2');
insert into TEST_TABLE3 (COL1,COL2) values (33,'t3');To find the differences between two tables I implemented the following:
select * from
(select * from TEST_TABLE
minus
select * from TEST_TABLE2
union all
(select * from TEST_TABLE2
minus
select * from TEST_TABLE
Result:
COL1 COL2
11 t1
22 t2 For the 3 tables comparison The result should be:
Result:
COL1 COL2
11 t1
22 t2
33 t3 For the other ones I can implement the same way, but for sure this is not the prettiest and most performing solution!
How can I achieve the result I intent with the most performance?
Thanks,
Ricardo TomásYou didn't say if you allow duplicates in your tables, so i assumed you didn't.
If a single table could have multiple occurrences of a given col1, col2 combination you would need to distinct the col1,col2 list from each table before doing the union all.

Why can't the finder in Mountain Lion 10.8.2 find files that have successfully downloaded, or that other programs can find?
This happens with maybe 1 out of 5 files. These are files that have either an ."aa" extention, or or are libraries that icloud can see, but finder can't.Files beginning with a period are invisible and library files are system files. Spotlight cannot find either unless configured to do so (btw, this is not a Finder issue but a Spotlight issue.)
Get Spotlight to search system files (and more)
Enter the search term in the Finder window's search field.
Click the [+] button in the search bar to add a search option.
In the first drop down menu choose Other.
Choose “System Files” from the list that pops up (and check the box to place in drop down menu to avoid this step later,) click on the OK button.
Now back in the Finder choose Include from the second drop down menu. -
"recover database until cancel" asks for archive log file that do not exist
Hello,
Oracle Release : Oracle 10.2.0.2.0
Last week we performed, a restore and then an Oracle recovery using the recover database until cancel command. (we didn't use backup control files) .It worked fine and we able to restart the SAP instances. However, I still have questions about Oracle behaviour using this command.
First we restored, an online backup.
We tried to restart the database, but got ORA-01113,ORA-01110 errors :
sr3usr.data1 needed media recovery.
Then we performed the recovery :
According Oracel documentation, "recover database until cancel recovery" proceeds by prompting you with the suggested filenames of archived redo log files.
The probleme is it prompts for archive log file that do not exist.
As you can see below, it asked for SMAarch1_10420_610186861.dbf that has never been created. Therefore, I cancelled manually the recovery, and restarted the database. We never got the message "media recovery complete"

Thank you very much for your help.
Frod.Hi,
Let me answer your query.
=======================
Your question: While performing the recovery, is it possible to locate which online redolog is needed, and then to apply the changes in these logs
1. When you have current controlfile and need complete data (no data loss),
then do not go for until cancel recovery.
2. Oracle will apply all the redologs (including current redolog) while recovery
process is on.
3. During the recovery you need to have all the redologs which are listed in the view V$RECOVERY_LOG and all the unarchived and current redolog. By querying V$RECOVERY_LOG you can find out about the redologs required.
4. If the required sequence is not there in the archive destination, and if recovery process asks for that sequence you can query V$LOG to see whether requested sequence is part of the online redologs. If yes you can mention the path of the online redolog to complete the recovery.
Hope this information helps.

HELP! "There are 309 files that don't belong in the project"
I needed to reformat my OS, so I backed up all my data onto DVD+RW's. (Verbatim brand.) including my imovies. I copied the entire "blahblah.iMovieProject" folder onto the DVD, then copied it back onto the drive after the reinstall. But now when I click on the project, it prompts me about this:
"There are 309 files that don't belong in the project"
and then this:
"There are 160 stray clip files in the project folder. Would you like to put them on the clips pane?"
After I click on "Leave Files Alone" for both of them, (versus move to trash, and Move files to clips pane, respectively), The project opens completely BLANK.
Oh great. Please inform. Am I out of luck?
Oh, btw, it also created like 10 versions of each photo in the "Media" folder. ick. what happened?...
g5 Mac OS X (10.3.9)Also, one more thing! Now that this has happened, even after I quit and restart the computer, upon opening the application, instead of starting out with a brand new project, the same prompts appear, and then leaves me with that seemingly corrupt project which is blank.

How do I show a count for rows that don't exist?
Hi, I'm trying to count the number of records grouped by rank(B,C,R),month, and year. Basically, anytime a part fails testing a record is entered which records the failure Rank and occurrence date. A record is only inserted if a part failed for specific rank. So not all 3 ranks will have entries. I'm able to count all ranks by month, year that do exist. But how do I get values of 0 for the ranks that don't exist? I just created a table qa_rank that has just one column rank with 3 records(b,c,r). but its not being used as of now. rank is just a column in qa_occ record. Here is my query.
select to_char(occdate,'YY') as yr, to_char(occdate,'MM') as mn,
rank, count(occdate)
from qa_occ
where q.occdate between '1-Apr-2005'and '31-Mar-2006'
and q.supplier = '11107'
group by to_char(q.occdate,'YY'),to_char(q.occdate,'MM'),q.rank
order by to_char(q.occdate,'YY'),to_char(q.occdate,'MM')
which returns this
YY MM RANK COUNT(OCCDATE)
05 09 C 2
05 10 C 2
05 11 C 1
05 11 R 1
06 01 C 3
06 02 C 1
06 03 B 1
06 03 C 2
I need it to return C,B,R for everymonth. If no records exist then the count for the month, rank should be 0. Any ideas? Thanks.something like:

How to stop iphoto from recovering photos that don't exist?
I just bought my iMac and transferred all my photos from my backup drive to the iphoto library. In organizing my photos I must have deleted photos or had some corrupted photos in the transfer. Now, every time I open iphoto is says it has recovered 75 or so photos, creates a folder for them, but it's empty. How do I stop it from trying to recovery photos that don't exist? I've searched and have found nothing. The folder generated by iphoto as a recovered folder is empty...
Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Can you give me an idea of why this type of error occurred
Because of a minor glitch when iPhoto failed to clean up after an import.
why has this now corrected the error?
iPhoto should remove that Importing Folder at the end of the importing session. When you launched iPhoto again it saw the folder and (incorrectly) assumed there was an import in progress. Removing the folder means that iPhoto won't make that assumption.
There is no reason to assume that the problem wil recur.

Deauthorizing computers that don't exist
How am I supposed to deauthorize computers that don't exist? Every time I've had to reinstall Windows, iTunes eats up another "authorization". Now all 5 authorizations are taken, and my iTunes purchases are useless. I only have 1 computer, Apple, so make this easier for Windows users, will you?

Your supposed to deathorize BEFORE a re-install. Not after. iTunes makes it very easy to do that.

Apple makes it easy enough to de-authorize your computer. You can even do a de-authorize all once a year. Log on your account and you should be able to not only view your authorizations, but have an option to de-authorize all of them.
