Link Contacts

So, it's been asked before, but has been unanswered for over a year, maybe you'll see this one, Microsoft. So I have Skype, Microsoft Live, and now Facebook contacts all in my skype list. Therefore for most of my contacts, I have them 3 times. It would be useful if I could Link my contacts and then if I need to change how I message them, I just use the menu at the bottom that at the moment allows you to switch to sms. Thanks

you need to have internet access , just for the first connection. it just validates the copy of DTM
otherwise you ahve to downgrade to DTM 4.2.2
4.3, 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 and 5.0 all validate on the internet

  • Feature Request: List of linked contacts

    hi there,
as there is bug with disapearing gmail contacts (those which are linked with SIM contacts if SIM card contacts display is switched off) i've tried to view all linked contacts and unlink them. i found the only way to do this is to go trough all contacts in list, check everyone is it linked or not separatelly. as usual contact list may exceed even 100 positions it is really hard task, or time consuming.
it wouldbe very nice to have:
    1. a quick access to list of all linked contacts, so i may decide manually which one should be unliked, or:
    2. maybe a little icon next to a contact name to indicate that contact is linked, or:
    3. little icon at right side of the name which would indicate a type of storage: gmail, local phone, sim... contacts linked from few sources could have more than one icon.

    Try this:
Once logged in, click 'All Files' from the top-left corner.  Then click the 'Clock' symbol to 'List by when I viewed'
I realize it's not exactly what you've asked for, but it may be helpful!
I've shared this feature request with the Workspaces product manager too.

  • How can I link contacts (e.g.. Facebook and Exchange) in Mountain Lions Contact App

After I installed ML and setted everthing up, everthing is fine. On my iPhone and iPad as well as on the Mac the contacts are there. Alle contacts with same Name / Email are linked. But some, where name is not 100% matching are not. On iPhone and iPad i can link them manually but this linking is not synced between the devices. Well anyway, this is not a problem. Then i tried to link the respective contacts in Contact App on the Mac. There seems to be no option to do that. How can I link contacts on the Mac?
    Thx

Do you think it's acceptable if I simply put the contact email address without a link so users can just look at it and then copy and paste into their own web client/browser?
You have to be a masochist to consciously publish an email address on a site anymore.   In a matter of weeks or months, you will get hit with so much spam mail, you won't want to open your inbox.
Use a form-to-email-processing script in PHP, ASP or whatever programming language your server supports.  Find one that hides your email address and has good spam prevention built-in.  It may take you an entire day to set-up your first contact form but it's worth it.  Otherwise, use a service. • How do I link contacts on the MACBook Pro?

Is contact linking not available on the MACbook Pro?
    I'm using OSX 10.9.2, Contacts 8.0?
I can only find how to merge contacts on the MAC but not link them as I can on my iPhone. Am I missing something?

    Hello there, jimmyatpc.
Although each action is similar in each OS, they are ultimately a bit different. While contacts in Mavericks "merge" and become one contact (unless in different accounts), on iOS 7 when you link 2 contacts they remain two unique contacts and the information is just shared. See the following Knowledge Base article respectively to get a clear explanation of each:
    Contacts (Mavericks): Combine duplicate contacts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH15079
If you have more than one card for a contact, you can combine them, preserving all the unique information.
If the contact cards are in different accounts: You can link them, which retains the separate cards, but displays the combined contact information in one card.If contacts have the same name, the cards are linked automatically.
If the contact cards are in the same account: You can merged them, which combines the cards into one card.
If you remove an account with linked cards, the cards simply unlink, and only the cards in that account are removed.
    Add contacts - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph14a87326
Unify contacts. If two entries for the same person aren’t linked automatically, you can unify them manually. Edit one of the contacts, tap Edit, then tap Link Contact and choose the other contact entry to link to.
Linked contacts aren’t merged. If you change or add information in a unified contact, the changes are copied to each source account where that information already exists.
If you link contacts with different first or last names, the names on the individual cards won’t change, but only one name appears on the unified card. To choose which name appears when you view the unified card, tap Edit, tap the linked card with the name you prefer, then tap Use This Name For Unified Card.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro

  • Linked contacts bug : SMS or e-mail sent to incorrect address or phone number.

    Hello,
I sync contact on my iPhone 5S ios 7.0.4 with four sources :
    - icloud
    - Outlook.com (Hotmail) - my private mail
    - Exchage - my work mail
    - Facebook
When a conctact in present on Hotmail and on Exchange, the contact appears once on the iPhone and it's correcty linked but when I want to send a SMS or an e-mail, the message is not sent to the correct number.
For example a contact (John Smith) is present on Hotmail and on Exchange with the following information
    Exchange :
    Name : John Smith
    Work phone : 1234
    Work mail : [email protected]
    Hotmail :
    Name : John Smith
    Mobile : 7890
    Work phone 1234
    Private mail : [email protected]
    Work mail : [email protected]
The linked contact on the iPhone looks like :
    Name : John Smith
    Mobile : 7890
    Work phone 1234
    Private mail : [email protected]
    Work mail : [email protected]
If I want to send a SMS to the Mobile of the contact following this procedure, the SMS is sent to the work phone
    1) Open Mesage app
    2) Click on new message
    3) Click [+] to open contact list
    4) Choose "John Smith"
    5) Choose Mobile phone
    6) Type the message
    7) Click "Send"
The SMS is sent to Work phone
If I use anothe procedure, the SMS is sent correctly to the mobile :
    1) Open Mesage app
    2) Click on new message
    3) Type "John Smith" into the "To" zone
    4) Choose "John Smith Mobile"
    5) Type the message
    6) Click "Send"
Same problem with e-mail address in the mail application.
If a contact is only present in one source (not linked) there is no problem.
I think it' a bug in linking contacts.
    Thanks

I don't think so. When i open the Exchange contact on the iPhone (Contact --> Linked --> Exchange) the work number is not tagged as mobile end there is no message icon next to the phone number.

  • TS4079 If I have a Facebook link contact for my boyfriend how to get Siri to remember who he is

How do I get Siri to remember to my boyfriend is a piece of Facebook link contact and it says that it does not allow her to do that

You could simply type "Contact itunes support" into the google search bar.  This would give you the link to contact itunes support.
Or you could just click the word Support at the top of this page, then click the link under Contact Apple Support.

  • Linking contacts and the changing info deletes the contact!

I wish there was a separate Discussion for Addressbook and Apple Mail because this post is about Addressbook / Contacts and there's no where to properly post, so the best I can do is post here since the issue happened on my iPad Air's Contacts. I've sent Feedback, but in the meantime ...
I never noticed Linking contacts for some reason until today when adding a new contact using the Create New Conact feature.
After creating, I noticed I could link her to related other contacts in my Contact database and did.
I then saw that in addition the linked contact names now being listed under LINKED CONTACTS which link to their Contact page, very cool, data from these linked contacts was posted into fields of the new contact such as Phone numbers, email and Notes, basically merging a lot of data without any proper labels. Meaning, the first linked contact's phone became the mobile phone under my new contact. Her home phone was a phone from the 2nd contact I linked to her. Each added linked contact's email now showed as an email for her, the new contact. I linked 5 people ans now had 6 emails and phones all mislabeled
I didn't want a merge of data even if labeled well, all I wanted was a list of linked contacts at the bottom of this new contact's page.
So I manually deleted the phone numbers hoping the list of contacts would remain.
BEWARE when you delete a phone number from within a linked contact it deletes the number in the original record AND deletes the contact from your Contacts, although these linked Contacts still exist in iCloud, but without their phones :(
This may be a setting issue I can fix, but it was new and seemed intuitive until I deleted the phones. An alert "Are you sure...) seems like a reasonable safe guard for such dramatic result. I lost 5 phones and these were all new contacts from my new job I started this week.
Yes I'm sending this to Feedback.
(You can link contacts when in Edit mode).

  • Link Contacts and Appointments

    Hi,
is there a way to link contacts to appointments? Especially when I setup a new calendar entry to remind me to call someone, it would be very helpful to have the contact linked to the calendar entry.
Is there some way to do that? I have iCal, BusyCal on my iMac available and iCal and Pocket Informant on my iPod touch. Thx for any tip.
    Reiner

Try unchecking all the calendars except the one you want to sync.
Tap Calendar, swipe down from the top and tap Manage.

  • Search (priority) of linked contacts between iCloud and facebook

    Hi,
on my iOS I have linked contacts between iCloud and facebook. There have to be a priority, at least for searching for details in the contact, because i only find some of the contacts that a have a same note set by me in the iCloud card. When I link contacts with different names, the unified contact get the facebook name. Then I can't search for the details I have set for the iCloud card. If I choose "Use This Name For Unitief Card" of the iCloud card, I can search for it's details from that moment on.
Can I set this generel priority to iCloud?!

does nobody has the same problem/can reconstruct the behaviour?

  • Unable to Link Contacts

I am unable to create new Linked contacts after upgrading to iOS7. I have an Exchange account where my company information is kept and my iCloud contacts. I have my phone set to create new contacts in the cloud. I usually create a new contact in the cloud to store personal details ... items not kept by our corporate exchange account (home addresses, home e-mail, mobile phones, etc..). I then Link the two contacts so that when I look up a contact on my phone i have the best of both worlds (personal information shared with me ... and corporate e-mail / phones / etc). This keeps me from duplicating information and having it out of date on my phone ... and allows me to keep personal information w/out fear of losing it when i leave the company.
Now after upgrading to iOS7, contacts previously Linked are still linked. The Link option is still present and allows me to browse my group
    Contacts -> <select person> -> Edit -> Link Contacts (very bottom) -> Groups -> Company Global Address List -> <search for matching person> -> Link
The Link doesn't show up ... clicking Done doesn't save it ...

This is exactly what I am dealing with. Blackberry Link will work great for awhile and then something happens and I can not sync my contacts. I have spent many hours and days trying to fix this to no avail. BB support has been great but I still go through a long process each time. This week I finally gave up and started using the Microsoft Hotmail Outlook Connector since my company does not offer Active Sync or Exchange. It works flawlessly. I would dedfinitely check it out. If you swith to a Widows Phone or Android this is one of the options they recommend you use.
In a nutshell Link is awful and BB should be ashamed of the product they put on the market. I will only use it for syncing pictures and documents. Good luck!

  • No linked contacts button iPhone 5

Just got my iPhone 5 today, and I am trying to clean up my contacts list.  Unfortunately, no "linked contact" button shows up at the bottom of the edit screen.  Can someone help me out with this?  Thank you!

Hello! I had this same question too, I got my phone yesterday, and after googling some stuff, I was able to figure it out. I hope this works for you too. I went to settings and linked my contacts with Facebook first. Then I noticed when I went back to my contacts there was a link button above the delete contact button in the edit screen. I hope you have facebook, and are able to update contacts, because I think that's the only way to do it. I hope this works for you!

  • Linking Contacts after installing 4.5.605

    Hi,
I can't seem to figure out how to link my contacts using the regular options after installing 4.5.605. There used to be an option when clicking the menu button when there was a contact open.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ah, I see ...  (PS - SEARCH is your friend on this forum ... many/most GB issues have already been discussed.)
    Found this one:

  • Linking Contacts vs "Grouping"

One issue I have with WP (925) over my E7 and 9500 communicator, concerns the "linking" of conatcts. In the symibian devices, when a group is created, the contacts in the group are listed, with their particular contact details under the name, so you know that the number you are calling is the correct number for the person you are trying to contact within the group.
Not so with "linking" contacts. When you "link" contacts, all the phone numbers are listed, and then all the fax numbers, and then the contact names! Not only this, but the "linked" contacts are removed from the "people" screen, leaving only the "parent" link shown!
Does this "link" feature have any benefit? Is this useful to anyone?
    "Grouplnig" was far superior!
Perhaps either updating the "link"  feature so it acts as the "old" group" feature aoor alternativley letting us choose whether we want to "link" or "group"  could be considered for the next WP "update"?

Enter into the contact you want.  Menu:::edit contact  Then Menu again and select "join". Select the contact you want to join and save your work.  This should work!  Good Luck!!

  • Linking contacts on GB???

Did they get rid of the linking contacts feature on GingerBread?  My contacts are still linked up after the upgrade but I can't seem to find the option to link any new ones...

Enter into the contact you want.  Menu:::edit contact  Then Menu again and select "join". Select the contact you want to join and save your work.  This should work!  Good Luck!!

    Sorry for the confusion

  • How to sync linked contacts?

I upgraded to iOS 6 today, and so far have successfully linked a bunch of Gmail contacts with Facebook contacts on my iPhone. I also edited the unified contact information. Now, when I open contacts on my iPad, it still shows the contacts before they are not linked - one item for the Gmail contact, another item for the Facebook contact.
I don't want to go through the linking process again. Is there a way to sync the linked contacts with unified contact information?
    Thanks a lot..

    I have the same question.
When Facebook syncs with its own group of contacts on an iOS device, it seems that linking contacts with e.g. Their iCloud or a gmail exchange counterpart on the device is the only way forth to "integrate" facebook informations with existing contacts (on an iOS device).
Or is it? At least the Facebook integration does not seem to update on existing groups of contacts, but instead uses its own group.
Another question: when (manually) having linked an existing contact with the now new Facebook counterpart, there is an option to choose a profile picture.
Again, manually, you can choose e.g. Facebook profile picture.
I guess this is what most people aim for; could this not be automated?
Again, this even does not sync to other iOS devices. So like the beginning of this thread; no infos within linked contacts seem to be synced across devices.
So it seems, that a lot of Facebook integration into contacts ends up with a lot of manual work on each iOS device you might own?
Any suggestions or solutions on more effectively automating facebook integration into contacts in iOS 6?
Before iOS 6 I used a 3rd party app which seemlessly synced facebook profile pictures and birthdays directly into existing contacts, which that way synced in its normal way via services used (gmail / icloud). But in iOS 6 it seems that facebook contacts get their own "group" in contacts, that you manually need to link to existing contacts?
    Kind regards,
    Martin
