Link DNS to external IP

Heya Guys,
I have a Mac Mini with two partitions one is a standard server and the other one is an advanced server.
The standard server uses its IP address as its DNS name and ISP DNS server, the advanced one uses its own DNS though, but I don't know how to link the DNS to my public IP.
DNS name is test.pushmymail.com.au
Created a recorded pointing it to 10.0.1.2 and run changeip -checkhostname and that loads the same name, but my website can't load.
www.pushmymail.com.au
I have set the DNS server on the domain host to test.pushmymail.com.au - what am I missing?

I have set the DNS server on the domain host to test.pushmymail.com.au - what am I missing?
You're missing the fact that you're trying to get to 'www.pushmymail.com.au'.
You didn't say you've added a record to your DNS for 'www.pushmymail.com.au', only for the 'test.pushmymail.com.au' host.
If you're running your own DNS server you need to add records to the zone for every hostname you want to access.

  • Anybody have any experience with D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage?

    Hi
    I am tired of (expensive space limited) Firewire external drives. If you have any experience connecting your storage, backup through network storage I would appreciate your input. I am looking at connecting a D-Link DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage $180 plus 2=1TB Seagate drives $99 each to be hooked up to my wired Linksys router- cable modem. Thank you for any input.

    I'm setting up one right now & the speed is only 9MBps. Connecting to linksys WRT160N router

  • HT200160 Using a D-Link DNS-320 NAS. No problem connecting with afp protocol from a MBP  OS10.8. MBP OS10.9 hangs up; shows the volumes, but never connects or time out. "Finder Not Responding." What gives?

    Similar problem on a Mac Mini running OS10.9 Mavericks. Note: Several weeks ago I posted a comment about Console displaying error messages when my MBP running 10.9 was connected to the DNS-320, but the 10.8 machine doesn't display those same messages. Might be related.

    I had the same problem with a D-link DNS-320.
    The following worked for me (Manual back up):
    Set Time Machine backups off to allow manual back-up.
    Create one alias of your NAS share in the desktop. (I don’t know why, I first had to create the share alias in a external USB drive and then move the alias to the desktop cause mavericks didn’t allow me to create the alias directly in the desktop.)
    After using the “back up now” option in the time machine menu, just wait for a couple of seconds and double click your time machine share alias. This will mount the share and time machine back up starts immediately.
    It seems as if double click initialize the communication and then the back up works normally.
    I hope this helps.

  • How do I add a link to an external site from my navigation toolbar?

    I want to add a link to an external page on the navigation bar, but when I right click or use inspector nothing looks useful. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Open the Inspector and then click on Hyperlink to create any link to an internal or external page. It is the second from the end and has the blue hyperlink symbol and yes, take time to look at what is in the Inspector - they are all 'useful' at some time!!

  • Can a pdf link to an external file

    ... so changing the original file changes the pdf?
    I've got a dinner riding on this. My co-worker says don't change that Illustrator .eps file - all our pdfs are linked to it! You'll  mess them up!
    I say - what? no way...  pdf's aren't linked to external .eps  files (that we imported into Quark and made pdf's) They are standalone docs. I did a test and can't replicate what he says. Using high-res print pdfs.
    What you say?  Am I buying dinner?

    Thanks for the input guys.
    I've been making pdf's well over 10 years but use only a narrow set of pdf types. I know there is a range of options and things you can do with pdf's that I've never done. This co-worker is actually my boss and he's adamant this has happened to him, pissed that I'm doubting him and won't let me improve a workflow system because of it.
    Maybe there is (or was in the past) some type of pdf that can link to an external file and can be changed by revising the external file?

  • Displaying a link to an external page as a "catalog"

    Hi,
    I was trying to display a link to an external web page as a catalog in SRM, e.g. http://www.google.com.
    This should be possible somehow, an SRM will even provide a link to go back, "return to SRM application".
    I created a web service to do this. I'm not sure what Business Type of Web Service is the most appropriate. So I chose "01 Product Catalog" for the time being.
    So far my call structure is very simple:
    No.      Parameter               Parameter Value     Type
    10                    http://www.google.com     0 URL
    100     BYPASS_OUTB_HANDLER               2 Fixed Value
    110     HOOK_URL                         4 Return URL
    When I click on that link I get the message "405. Thatu2019s an error. The request method POST is inappropriate for the URL /."
    So I set the flag "use HTTP GET to call Web Service". But the error remains.
    Does anyone know how to set this up?
    Best regards,
    Marcus

    Hi Markus,
    I expect that a page like google is not expecting a POST request, i.e. the POST request is used to try to submit a form or request to the server, google does not expect such a request.
    Maybe try using a test catalog like that provided by Wiley or similar (http://catalog.wiley.com/marketbasket.cgi), see http://www.wiley.com/legacy/authors/apiinfo/ for more info on this.
    Regards.

  • DMS Link Table for External Content Repository

    Can someone advise in what table is the link to the External Content Repository stored, in SAP's DMS? We are able to save a document using CV01n in documentum, but are unable to determine the table in which the link to the external document id is stored.
    It is NOT in TAO01, which would be the obvious choice. Perhaps TAO01 is only used by ArchiveLink and not by DMS.
    We know that the link is stored in one of the tables in SAP, because we are able to retreive the document.
    Regards,
    Ajay

    Dear Ajay,
    please check if tables DMS_DOC2LOIO, DMS_PHIO2FILE and DMS_PH_CD1 could provide you the necessary data.
    Maybe also FM SDOK_PHIOS_PROPERTIES_GET could be usefull.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • When I link to an external site, the link does not work, if I right click "Open in new tab" the link works.

    When I link to an external site, the link does not work, if I right click "Open in new tab" the link works.

    I have not changed any of my preferences and they look like they are as I would have left them.
    I tried resetting Firefox and deleting the preference file, no change.
    By the way, I hate that the tabs are on top and not where they belong above the pages they are for. There should still be a way in Firefox to put them back without having to use an add-in.

  • Adding a link to an external file into SQL table

    I would like to add a link to an external file (picture stored on my local hard drive) into SQL table. Then use C# to query data from SQL table and export to Excel.  I got everything working ok except the link to external file. I would like to export
    this link to Excel and user can click on the link to open the file. How can I accomplish this? Thank you very much in advance for your help!

    In that case the Filetable feature could be of interest to you. With this feature the file can be part of the database, and still be accessible from tools outside SQL Server.
    I don't really have any good examples handy, but if anyone knows of a good blog post that could help Nhan, please feel free to add.

  • Link to an external .js from PDF?

    Using Acrobat 9 Pro, I have a PDF document that I want to link to an external .js file (for SCORM and LMS purposes).  I have imported a multimedia object (swf) into the PDF and it needs to call several Javascript functions.  Instead of copy/pasting each function of Javascript code into each PDF (menu path: Advanced > Document Processing > Document Javascripts), is it possible to write a line of code that links to an external .js file?
    In HTML, it would be someting like <HEAD><SCRIPT type="text/javascript" language="Javascript" SRC="pdf.js"></SCRIPT> </HEAD>.
    Possible?

    Try67, thanks.  You answered my question precisely.
    Of course, I now realize that I asked the wrong question.  Since the PDFs will be accessed via an LMS on a server, I cannot (at least, I don't think I can...need to verify...) use a folder-level script.  I'm pretty sure I need a document-level script.  Now, if that means I have to copy/paste all the functions I need into a document-level script, it would work, but I suspect that becomes a maintenance nightmare down the road if I ever have to update/replace code on each PDF.
    It would be much easier to have a document-level "link" to an external .js file, but I suspect that is impossible based on what I've read in the Acrobat Javascript reference.  Am I wrong?

  • How to fix forgetting previously opened tabs when starting Firefox by clicking on a link in an external application?

    Hello, I have the option Startup: "Show my windows and tabs from last time" enabled. Works fine, except when Firefox starts when I click a link in an external application (typically Thunderbird). Then, the new link gets opened in a new tab, Firefox remembers the number of tabs I had opened when I last closed it, but all the "old" tabs are blank. Can I somehow fix this behavior?
    Disabling add-ons does not help. Clicking on a link in an external application when Firefox is already opened works OK. I have been using Firefox for quite a short time now (probably half a year) and this problem was always there (i.e. it is not due to a new update).
    Thank you.

    If Firefox is closed and an external link opens Firefox, you need to go to History > Recently Closed Tabs and open those tabs before closing Firefox. If you don't the "previous session" will be gone and only the one page that the external program opened will be the new "previous session".
    If that isn't satisfactory, you'll need to install a "session manager" type extension to remember more than "the last session" only.

  • Link to an external website based on form item

    Hello,
    How to create a link to an external site based on the value of a read only item in a form?
    I have a read only form (not a report because of layout issues) which presents address information. One of the items contains a site-address. Is it possible to present this field in a way users can click on it to navigate to the site?
    Thank you,
    Philip

    Thank you Varad,
    The data source for the item P21_WEB_SITE is a database column (a varchar2(100) ).
    I created a second item where the data source is based on a PL/SQL Function Body:
    declare
    lv_return VARCHAR2(500);
    begin
    lv_return := '&lta href="http://'
    ||:P21_WEB_SITE
    ||'/"'
    ||'target="_blank"'
    ||'&gt'
    ||:P21_WEB_SITE
    ||'&lt/a&gt'
    return lv_return;
    end;
    Property Display as = Display as text (does not save state)
    So problem solved !

  • How to configure profile manager in Maverics when DNS is externally managed?

    Are there any guides to configuring Profile Manager as a MDM?
    Here is my story.
    Recently installed  Mac mini at a school where the DNS is externally managed by the Education departments IT group.  Upgraded to Maverics and installed Server app.  Configured profile manager to the point where we could generate a trust profile and enrolment profile.  Doesn't work because there is no DNS entry for Mac mini server.   Create entry but need to change host name and computer name and local machine name to match entry.  Suddenly profile manager not working at all.  Delete server app and it's configuration file in ~/Library/.  Reinstall.  Now Profile manager won't even activate.  Speak to Apple on phone, run various commands to reinitialise Open Directory and reset profile manager.  To no avail.  Apple say to reinstall Mavericks, Server and try again.
    Funny thing is I got profile manager to work as an MDM in a test environment, but changing DNS after doing so much configuration seems to have made a real mess of things.  Vowing to make a time machine backup as soon as Mavericks re-installs.
    Anyone know of any guides other than the one on krypted.com, which appears to be for the previous version of Profile Manager.
    Stom

    In general, either your OS X Server box has a DNS translation for its address, or it doesn't.
    If you don't have valid DNS, you will have problems with various services, as DNS is fundamental to distributed authentication and encryption, among other uses.
    OS X Server doesn't recover well from installations that start off with DNS errors, and the wipe and reinstallation suggested by Apple is usually easier than resolving the various issues that tend to arise within the configurations of the various services.
    If your server doesn't have a valid DNS translation, then either add the DNS translation into your organization's local DNS environment, or work to retrain or replace the folks that are unwilling or unable to administer and to properly maintain local DNS services, or (far less desirably) configure and start your own parallel DNS services.  There are other options, of course.
    I'd escalate this discussion to management, and let them sort this out — at its core, this very likely isn't a technical issue.

  • Why, after selecting it as a link to an external website, does the word disappear under a black box

    I would like to create a link to an external website.  But when I select the words and then type the url containing http:// in the "Link" field, the words disappear under a black box.  How do I correct this?

    Hello Nancy O:
        Without the link applied, the page looks fine in the browser.  But I am trying to figure out what is going on in the CSS file that would cause this.  When I move the mouse over the design view, I notice that outlines forming boxes appear.  They overlap the text that I want to create a link with.  I tried deleting a box that overlapped the text, but doing so didn't work. I tried increasing the z index, but that didn't work.  I tried applying an id instead of a class, but that also didn't work.  I'll keep working on the css file.  Thank you.
