Link Domain With .Mac Hosting

I presume I am unable to just use my iWeb version 1.1.2 that came with my MacBook Pro and utilise my own Domain Name. I have to purchase a full iLife 08.
Just like to confirm before I part with $$$
Thanks,
Jim

In System Preferences,
So I believe the answer would be yes; you will need iWeb 08.

    Hi there!
Regarding iPhone link up with Mac book, am i charged by my cell company even if i am on wifi?
I ask because i travel to europe often, and need to get a phone there.. this would save me a whole lot of money and hastle
    Thank you

Streaming will be faster from the new iMac.  However it is still a good idea to keep the bulk of your material, 400 GB is a lot of content, on external drives.  That serves to protect the material if an internal drive fails, and also keeps the internal drive from getting too loaded down.  You can increase speed by simply moving content you want to use in the short term to the iMac SSD where it will be at its fastest speed, and then take it off when no longer needed there.
That gives the speed and security for your material.

  • Favicon.ico on custom domain with .mac?

I get that there's no direct support for favicon's -
So what I've done is added the favicon.ico file to my
domain in the root and site directories on my iDisk–
but when I access the site it still shows the blue apple
network gel as the favicon. I've even tried adding the
shortcut code directly to the HTML- no luck.
Also, is there anyway to add 'title' tags to a page?
    That seems pretty basic...
Also, Also - where the heck is the local copy of the
    site on my drive?
    Thanks!

So what I've done is added the favicon.ico file to my
domain in the root and site directories on my iDisk–
Create a favicon and add it to the root of the webserver.
Then every webpage should have this code in the HEAD of the page. Something like:
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/wyodor/apple-touch-icon.png" />
It cannot be entered in iWeb. You need a HTML Editor.
Also, is there anyway to add 'title' tags to a page?
The title of a webpage is based on the large textbox at the top of each iWeb page. It's already there. You do not need to add it.

  • IWeb/Domain Forwarding/.mac question

    Hello Everyone
I have been lurking in the forum for some time, and now have a question. I did a search for it without any luck, so here goes.
I have a website I created using iWeb, with a domain I purchased from GoDaddy. I have domain forwarding and domain Masking both enabled. The issue I have is that each page shows only the purchased URL. In other words, I cannot direct someone to an individual page. I would like the pictures page to show up as purchased domain/pictures, and the links page to show up as purchased domain/links.
We had a discussion involving this on a MMUG I belong to. There are 3 of us who all have domains purchased from GoDaddy. The 2 of us hosting on .Mac have the above mentioned issue with the URL. The one person hosted elsewhere (not GoDaddy), has distinct URL's for each page. This leads me to believe the root of the issue resides with .Mac hosting. Does this make any sense?
FWIW, I asked the same question to .Mac support and got nowhere. They just sent me a response explaining what domain forwarding is.
    Dual 2.0 G5 Rev A - PowerBook 17" 1.33   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The masking feature that you describe is just that.... it masks the actual URL with whatever URL you give it...in this case the URL for your domain. So if you type in http://www.yourdomain.com and have it masked and forwarded to your .Mac pages, that URL is the only URL you will ever see in the address bar of your browser. This is the expected behavior for masking.
There are some different things you can do with your domain, though...
Remember that your forwarded domain basically replaces the relevant portion of your .Mac address. I will use my domain name and .Mac iWEb address for example.
    http://www.dirtdoog.com ==> forwards to http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb
So anytime I see my .Mac URL, I can replace the whole initial section with my domain name...
    http://web.mac.com/jwtseng/iWeb/kate/MyWorld/MyWorld.html
    can be directly replaced with...
    http://www.dirtdoog.com/kate/MyWorld/MyWorld.html
And because I have masking turned on, this is the URL that will stay in my address bar.
For your purposes, you might be interested in assigning subdomains. This feature is located under "Total DNS control". It lets your replace the "www" with a sub-domain that again can be forwarded to any URL. You can use this to forward directly to your photos page using this...
    http://photos.yourdomain.com
That would work too, if you had a page that you commonly like to give out to people.

  • .Mac Hosting with a simple domain.

Ok so I think I want domain masking, and not to use iWeb with that+(or can I?(I think .Mac domain supports one domain per user))+, just post to .mac and set up domain masking with GoDaddy. With that I can use multiple domain with one .Mac user +I'm guessing+. If that is true then It's time for me to buy a Domain.
Ok So I just went over to GoDaddy to Buy a one time domain purchase +(is that possible?)+ I found out that the interface is complated, All I want to do is buy the domain set up domain masking and never use or pay for it again. Cant I buy A domain once and then its mine? How do I do this Help!! Im lost with domain buying!!

  • Can't communicate with other hosts from primary domain.

Hi all, I add vsw0 as below:
    ldm add-vsw net-dev=e1000g0 primary-vsw0 primary
    ifconfig vsw0 plumb
    ifconfig e1000g0 down unplumb
ifconfig vsw0 (ipaddressofserver) netmask 255.255.224.0 broadcast + up
    mv /etc/hostname.e1000g0 /etc/hostname.vsw0
    init 6
but now I can't communicate with other hosts from primary domain,if I plumb and up e1000g0 and down vsw0 ,everything is OK,what's wrong with it?Thanks.

This is greate!I replaced e1000g0 with vsw0 now.
Could ldm automatic update the ldm configuration parameters?I created a file for the virtual disk, the output of ldm list-bindings as below:
    ......................ignore.............................
    Vdisk: disk0 vol0@primary-vds0
    service: primary-vds0 @ primary
    ......................ignore.................................
but when I updated some other parameters such as vsw, vnet, the vol0 became:
    .................ignore.........................
    Vdisk: disk0 primary-vds0-vol0@primary-vds0
    service: primary-vds0
    .......................ignore........................................
and the same time the primary-vds0-vol0 link with /dev/zvol/rdsk/domdisk/dom1,so the guest domain couldn't get the boot disk,I had to update it manunally.
Did you have the same issue?

  • Need help with Domain Registration and Hosting

    Hi Folks,
I have a few questions which I hope some of you may be able to help me with.
    1) I would like to register a domain name, which registrars might some of you suggest, as a mac user? Nice interface, easy to use, not pushy sign up process, etc.
    2) I would also like to sign up for hosting with my new domain name, so that I can have an FTP site, CalDav support, IMAP e-mail with my domain name, and a very nice webmail app. I have been looking around and found a lot, but none that are nice to use, they all look like windows 95ish, etc.
I will be hosting the actual website on my .mac space, but running the FTP through the hosting site, and would like to run the IMAP e-mail via the host as well. That's about it, I'm sure some more questions will follow soon, but I do want to register my domain ASAP, but at the same time find a host, because I know sometimes the registration is free when you sign up with a host, so would prefer not to spend double for something, sort of.
    Thanks for all you help!

Check out GoDaddy. There cheap and offer the services you want. http://GoDaddy.com there website probably isn't the easiest to use, but their prices sorta compromise for it. If your looking for a more upscale provider then check out http://www.machost.com/ and http://macosxhosting.com/

  • I have a domain with 2 DCs (both virtual machines) in different Hyper-V Hosts. Dose this case make any influence on the time sync?

    As title,
I have a domain with 2 DCs (both virtual machines) in 2 different Hyper-V Hosts, and one of the perform as a PDC Emulator.
Dose this case make any influence on the time sync?
i.e. Both of the VMs sync with Hyper-V host, instead the other host should sync with the PDC Emulator?
I run w32tm command and get the following result:
    C:\Users\Administrator.DOMAIN8>w32tm /query /computer:dc8.domain8.local /source
    VM IC Time Synchronization Provider
    C:\Users\Administrator.DOMAIN8>w32tm /query /computer:hpvzh05.domain8.local /source
    VM IC Time Synchronization Provider
    HPVZH05.domain8.local works as PDC server.
How can I make DC8 sync with HPVZH05?

    Awesome!
It looks like your PDC is successfully pulling time from an external source.  DC8 is not longer pulling from Hyper-V so that is good.
When you set a client to pull from a source ( and in this case DC8 is pulling from NT5DS, which tells it to pull from the PDC), and it CAN'T pull from that source, it will default to Local CMOS Clock.  This is likely an easy fix.
    First, check connectivity:
    - Method one- Download Portqry and run this command: portqry -n HPVZH05 -p both -e 123 and see if the results say listening, or
    - Method two- Run this command from DC8: w32tm /stripchart /computer:HPVZH05
If you get any kind of error using method two, it's a connectivity issue.  (Maybe you have a firewall that's blocking access?)
The other cause of this, and probably more likely in your case, is that your PDC isn't properly advertising as a reliable time source, so DC8 isn't 'allowed' to pull from it.
Try running this command on your PDC: w32tm /config /reliable:yes
Then go restart time on your PDC, THEN DC8 again.  (net stop w32time & net start w32time)

  • Any Idears on how to use my D-Link Router with Print Server on my mac ?

I just got recently a D-Link Router with Print Server.
The Model is a DI-704UP. does anyone know how i can access the printer to my G5 ?
talked to D-Link and Apple and they have no solution.
    IMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

According to this page on the D-Link website about your product, the router includes a print server for Windows and that the software is for Windows only.
However, this page also on D-Link's website does offer you an unsupported solution.
    Hope this helps! bill

Until the MacBook Air was released and supported in 10.5, the Mac did not consider USB to be a valid Networking Protocol. So set the Mac with USB solutions aside.
To connect computer-to-computer, you typically need to be using an Ethernet crossover cable. Assigning the same address to two Ethernet devices is never the solution -- it gives a Network Conflict, just as you said.
If your Windows box has some mechanism for Sharing its WiFi connection over Ethernet, you would have to follow its rules. Whether that means Manually assigning an Ethernet Address in the same range or the PC will provide the Address, I do not know.
Best success may be running an Ethernet cable to your Wired/Wireless Base Station, or using a "gaming adapter" (Ethernet-to-Wireless no drivers required) connected to the Mac's Ethernet port to give it WiFi access. What is your Base Station {Cable, DSL, FIOS, Other} ? Ethernet cables can be up to 100 meters (an American Football Field). Often the Base Station can be moved closer for more convenience.

  • Domain authentication with mac address restrictions

I am in a branch office and I have one WLC 5508 and one ACS 4.2 with three WLANs:
WLAN1 with SSID1: for company computers and laptops
WLAN2 with SSID2: for ipads and tablets
    WLAN3 with SSID3:  for guests
I am asked to configure WLAN2 as “WLAN2: Provides the Wi-Fi connectivity to ipads and tablets, with back end security using domain authentication with mac address restrictions.

You would need to create a seperate policy and be able to have a seperation between the two policies... It's kind of hard to explain, but you would have for example:
    Policy 1:
Wireless user on this SSID WLAN1
AD on this AD Group (Machine)
    Policy 2:
Wireless user on this SSID WLAN 2
AD on this AD Group (USer)

  • Planning Link URL's with externally hosted envirnoment

We have planning installed remotely at a 3rd parties datacenter and have masked the 3rd parties url to link into our domain for example
    jc101a.vendor.com:19000/workspace
    maps to
    hyp.mycompany.com:19000/workspace
This works well going into workspace and smartview and everything but when right clicking a report and asking for a link, the link starts with jc101a.vendor.com. Which is fine if you are vpn'd into the vendor or on the server but locally behind the company firewall it causes issues since users don't have access to the vendor directly.
Also when emails are sent out they are sent out with the native link. Is there somewhere I can change this setting to mask all links generated through workspace?
    Thanks!
    Mark

You may need to edit one of the OHS config files - httpd.conf at <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/user_projects/<instancename>/httpdConfig/ohs/config/OHS/ohs_component
Edit the file and search for ServerName and update, save and restart OHS
You can also change the workspace SmartCurl URLs, in workspace
Navigate > Administer > Reporting & Analysis > Web Applications
Reporting and Analysis Framework Web-Application > Right click properties > internal > update Custom SmartCut URL
    Restart RAF/workspace services.
