Link Exchange Server to external SMIME Directory
Hi together,
we are using SMIME for all our email comunication, which works fine so far.
I wonder if there is a way to link our Exchange 2010 to an external SMIME Directory such as
https://www.globaltrustpoint.com
or others. (eventually link it to different Servers in parallel?)
Regards Stefan
Hello,
Do you mean you want to use S?MIME for e-mail encryption with an external recipient? If so, you can try to refer to the following blog to do it.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2008/04/23/3405402.aspx
If you use a certificate that is issued by a root CA, that may be trusted. You need installing the certificate in the trusted root certification authorities store on your client computer.
If I have any misunderstanding, please free let me know.

Exchange Server 2007 external autodiscover not working
Dears
I need help to resolve my autodiscover issue externally. Internally everything works fine like auto discover, free-busy, out of office etc.
Our Exchange is 2007 CCR clustered with one CAS and HUB server (both in one) and 2 mailbox servers (active & passive) with a mail gateway appliance instead of Edge Server.
Externally nothing of the above are working but Outlook Anywhere is working and more number of uses are working without any issue. For all these users who connected with Outlook-Anywhere they cannot see free-busy, out of office etc.
Please let me know how I can check the settings for internal and external settings and what all details need to be provided for external autodiscover through cmdlet or GUI.I am getting a XML file when accessing above link from external source.
The beginning is as detailed below

Exchange Server 2013: Internal Certificate Issue
Dear All,
I have MS Exchange 2013 with domain name: Exchange.local (fqdn: ex001.exchange.local).
I had created the accepted domain for xyz.com. I bought the Wildcard Certificate for *xyz.com. I had issued the certificate to my MS Exchange server.
External/Internet users: they can setting up and connected with MS Outlook
but I had problem with internal. when I setup account to MS Outlook. it failed and cannot connected to MS Exchange server because invalid ex001.exchange.local.
Do you have best solution and commend on this issue for internal users?
BR,
KH
[email protected]Hi khemarin,
Did you set correctly the internal url´s for the services?
For Autodiscover URL:
If you are using a single server or all servers are in the same AD site, then the following commands can be used:
Get-ClientAccessServer | Set-ClientAccessServer -AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri https://mail.example.net/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
However if you are using multiple servers in multiple AD sites, then you need to set the commands as per the box below, replacing "CAS-Server" with the real name of the server that holds the CAS role.
Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity "CAS-Server" -AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri https://mail.example.net/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
For Webservices URL:
As with Autodiscover, if you are using a single server then the following commands can be used:
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -InternalUrl https://mail.example.net/ews/exchange.asmx -ExternalUrl https://mail.example.net/ews/exchange.asmx
However if you are using multiple servers, then you need to set the commands as per the box below, replacing "CAS-Server" with the real name of the server that holds the CAS role.
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "CAS-Server\EWS (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://mail.example.net/ews/exchange.asmx -ExternalUrl https://mail.example.net/ews/exchange.asmx
For Outlook Anywhere URL:
Right click on the Client Access Server and choose Properties. Click on the tab Outlook Anywhere and adjust the URL to match the external name on the SSL certificate.
You should also need to check OAB Virtual Directory on IIS and see if it is enabled for SSL.
And you should have a Split DNS in this case.
I hope it helps.

Exchange Server 2013 and Remote Access VPN on a single server running Windows Server 2012?
Just by way of background, I have been installing and administering network servers, e-mail systems, VPN servers, and the like for many years. However, my involvement with Exchange and Windows Server has been mostly on the forensics and data recovery
level, or as a (sophisticated) user. I have never tried to deploy either from scratch before. My deployment experiences have been mostly with Linux in recent years, and with small private or personal "servers" running such cutting edge
software as Windows XP back when it was new. And even NetWare once.
When a client asked me if I could set up a server for his business, running Exchange Server (since they really want Outlook with all of its bells and whistles to work, particularly calendars) and providing VPN access for a shared file store, I figured it
could not be too difficult given that its a small business, with only a few users, and nothing sophisticated in the way of requirements. For reasons that don't bear explaining here, he was not willing to use a vendor hosting Exchange services or cloud
storage. There is no internal network behind the server; it is intended to be a stand-alone server, hanging off a static IP address on the Internet, providing the entirely mobile work-force of about 10 people with Exchange-hosted e-mail for their computers
and phones, a secure file store, and not much else. If Exchange didn't need it, I would not need to install Active Directory, for example. We have no direct need for its services.
So I did the research and it appears, more by implication than outright assertion, that I should be able to run Windows Server 2012 with Exchange Server 2013 on a server that also hosts Remote Access (VPN only) and does nothing else. And it appears
I ought to be able to do it without virtualizing any of it. However, I have spent the last three or four days fighting one mysterious issue after another. I had Remote Access VPN working and fairly stable very quickly (although it takes a very
long time to become available after the server boots), and it has mostly remained reliable throughout although at times while installing Exchange it seems to have dropped out on me. But I've always been able to get it back after scrounging through the
logs to find out what is bothering it. I have occasionally, for a few minutes at a time, had Exchange Server willing to do everything it should do (although not always everything at the same time). At one point I even received a number of e-mails
on my BlackBerry that had been sent to my test account on the Exchange Server, and was able to send an e-mail from my BlackBerry to an outside account.
But then Exchange Server just stopped. There are messages stuck in the queues, among other issues, but the Exchange Administration Center refuses now to display anything (after I enter my Administrator password, I just get a blank screen, whether on
the server or remotely).
So, I am trying to avoid bothering all of you any more than I have to, but let me just begin with the basic question posed in the title: Can I run Exchange Server (and therefore Active Directory and all of its components) and Remote Access (VPN only) on
a single Windows Server 2012 server? And if so, do I have to run virtual machines (which will require adding more memory to the server, since I did not plan for it when I purchased it)? If it can be done, can anyone provide any pointers on what
the pitfalls are that may be causing my problems? I am happy to provide whatever additional information anyone might like to help figure it out.
Thanks! An old thread but I ran into this issue and thought I share my solution since I ran into the same issue. Configuring VPN removes the HTTPS 443 binding on the Default Site in IIS for some strange reason; just go and editing the bindings, add HTTPS and things
should be back to normal. -
New Exchange Server 2013 in a Exchange 2007 Org, can't get cu's to install
Hi,
We have an Exchange Server 2007 in our organization. I installed an Exchange Server 2013 but could not get the CU3 to install, would throw exceptions. I tried CU2 and it got a lot further but failed to start a service near the end. Don't ask for specifics
as I got frustrated and blew this machine away and installed a fresh VM. I read that you can install the CU's as if they are a fresh installation. I tried this but it fails saying "the Exchange server is in an inconsistant stet....recover". There
IS no Exchange server yet!!
What am I doing wrong? I used the command line for CU3, like: setup /mode:install /roles:ca,mb,mt /IAccept blah blah blah. I didn't set powershell execution policy, not sure if that was it. Are there switches I am missing? I want to see if I can install
the Exchange CU3 right from the get-go.
HeLp!Hi,
According to the error message, this issue may occur if the previous Exchange installation or un-install failed to complete. This situation leaves the Exchange server
object in Active Directory and prevents a new installation.
We can try:
1. Install ADSI Edit.
2. Launch ADSI Edit. To do this, click Start, click Run, type adsiedit.msc in the text box, and then click OK.
3. Locate the Exchange server object by going to the following location: CN=Configuration, DC= Domain Name, DC=com, CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=<Organization
Name>, CN=Administrative Groups, CN= <Exchange Administrative Group>, CN=Servers, CN=<Server Name>.
4. Delete the server object.
5. Remove the Exchange server's machine account from Security groups Exchange Servers and Exchange Install Domain Servers.

A list of files changed for Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3
Hi.
Is there a list of files changed for Rollup 4?
After our RollUp installation, some files in the BIN directory still has the date of 2/5/2013 (SP3, no RollUp4), some has the date of 6/13/2013 (RollUp4)
Despite RollUp4 looks like to have been installed, Exchange Server still reports it's running "Version 14.3 (Build 123.4)"
Thanks...Hi,
After you install an update rollup for Exchange 2010, the version of Exchange Server isn't updated to show that the update rollup is installed. This issue occurs because the version number that is displayed by the Exchange Management Console or by other
administrative mechanisms is obtained from the Exchange Server Object in Active Directory.
If you want to get the latest version of Exchange server, the article Andy provided is a good way.

Manually removing Exchange Server from Exchange 2010 Organization
Hi everybody, I need some help with a problem removing my last Exchange Server 2003 (the only one now, back-end) from my mixed environment, actually I have one Exchange 2010 server with all the mailboxes, I have replicated public folders and OAB and List
Address Books to it, after that i removed my front end server from my environment but when I tryed to remove my back-end, I have the error 0x80072030 (8240) when I ran the uninstallation of Exchange from Add/remove Programs: I read
tons of articles but anyone helps (i have removed all mailboxes from that server), my last resource is removing the last Exchange Server 2003 from my mixed (2003/2010) organization, I have read articles about to remove Exchange from one server and to remove
Exchange from one site, also to remove Exchange to reinstall after, but my goal is remove Exchange at all because I have Exchange Server 2010 too and finally need to migrate to Exchange 2013 so I need to clean Exchange 2003 manually from my
organizatión.
Please somebody knows a procedure to remove Exchange Server 2003 from Active Directory and left only Exchange 2010 to be able to migrate to Exchange 2013.
thanks in advance.

FelxHi,
Let’s begin with the following similar thread:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/1c10c868-9b1d-43fe-afe1-d630626e2c28/exchange-2003-removal-fails-w-error-code-0x80072030-8240-there-is-no-such-object-on-the-server?forum=exchangesvrdeploylegacy
And we can check the following possible reasons:
1. HomeMDBBL attribute
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrmigration/thread/f0e3edd7-34e5-46b8-8061-1991aaffc30f
2. msExchHomeServerName attribute (all pointing to Exchange 2010 server)
3. the "famous" postmaster issue:

We can also try to manually remove the old Exchange Server by:

External Clients cannot connect to Exchange Server
Hello all:
My external clients using outlook cannot connect to Exchange Server 2013. We have on-presmise version updated to Cu3 and after the Cu3 update we lost connectivity with Outlook clients. Many of the settings in IIS were changed after the Cu3 update,
I noticed after my http->https redirect was not applied anymore to the default website. Here is my Get-OutlookAnywhere results:

Thanks in advanceHi,
According to your description, users cannot connect to Exchange server 2013 both internal and external.
Please run Test E-mail AutoConfiguration in Outlook to check your autodiscover service. Also
reset your Exchange virtual directory to connect correctly. If the issue still continues after all configurations are setting properly, collect some Event logs would be helpful.
If there is any question, please post the results here for further analysis.
Thanks,

What am I trying to do?
I have tried installing Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 7 Setup on a fresh install of Windows Server 2012 R2 but it gets stuck when running the setup exe on Step 8 of 14 “Mailbox Transport Service” I have included full
error logs at the bottom of the page but the basics are in order it will throw which loop around are:
[01/20/2015 17:13:20.0084] [2] Beginning processing Set-SharedConfigDC
[01/20/2015 17:13:20.0178] [2] The call to Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service on server 'TopologyClientTcpEndpoint (localhost)' returned an error. Error details No Minimal Required Number of Suitable Directory Servers

Exchange is currently running in the envirmonet on 2010 Sp3 I am installing 2013 CU7 fresh so I can migrate the databases over.
What am I running?
2 X DC on domain and forest functional level 2008R2 both writable
1 X fresh install of Windows 2012 R2 which is domain joined
What have I tried?
Checked Ipv6 is enabled on all DC NICS and Existing Exchange Servers
Rebooted every server
Run setup as Administrator
My account is part of the domain Enterprise Admin group
Tried adding "Exchange Server" or "Exchange Enterprise Servers" to the group policy and doing the relevant gpupdate /force and reboot :
Computer Configuration Windows Settings
Security Settings + Local Policies
User Rights Assignment Mange auditing and security log
Turned off firewall on DC and Exchange Server even stopped the service
Turned off all AV on the DC and Exchange Server
Checked I could telnet to global catalog servers on port 3268 which I can
Checked the global catalog records existed in DNS which they all do
Done the obvious ping tests all round which confirms connectivity
Schema has been prepared using appropriate commands before running the setup exe
setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IacceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
Making sure the following path has full permissions:
EXCHANGE14:\Current\Release\Shared\Datacenter\Setup
Restarted Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology service
DcDiag all looks good
What have I noticed that is suspicious?
Microsoft Exchange Transport service will not start even though both of its dependences services have started:
Microsoft Filtering Management Service
Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service
It will eventually error with
“Windows could not start the Microsoft Exchange Transport Service on local computer
Error 1053: This Service did not respond to the start of control request in a timely fashion”
This error is from the GUI wizard itself:

Adding BIS accounts for a device linked to BES Exchange server
Please could somone guide me in terms of how to add BIS accounts and a BES account to the same device.
The handset I am using is a Curve 8520 running OS5.0.0.592. I upgraded the OS from 4.6 to 5 today.
I have been using this handset for a long time, running purely on BES with a single email account.
Now i need to have other email accounts link to the same handset so that I can stay up to date with the various accounts I manage. I upgraded to OS5 hoping that I would find the function to add other accounts.
The phone only allows me to link to 1 single exchange server. Under Email Settings there are no options to add second or third BIS accounts! I have also looked for the 'personal mail' folder or icon, but this icon has never been on this handset. I have read that some people have done this and managed to have BIS accounts and a BES account running simultaneoously, but I cannot find how to do this.
Please could someone advise on how to do this.I have this problem too. The only thing I am guessing is that the domain name of my email is also a domain name I use to adminstrate a website. When mail goes looking for a server it finds a localhost server with promising looking credentials.

How do I link iCal to my PC Networks Exchange Server?
Hello,
I'm trying to get iCal to link up to Microsofts Exchange server. I need to be able to set up and receive calander events and my MAC is NOT able to receive or send invites or even create a new event. It is not seeing the PC network in iCal.
thnaks.I figured it out! If you happen to have this very same problem, you probably don't have Calendars synced in your "iCloud app" in System Preferences for your MacBook. It synced my two calendars right away.

Exchange server 2013 in Windows server 2012 VM
It was working fine then start the issue.
Firewall is managed externally and the last report said:
"I checked the firewall logs, which shows traffic being allowed through port 25 from 10.10.10.10 to 4.28.237.225: Log Number 116 Last Activity 2014-08-28 23:48:33 Status [accept] Src 10.10.10.10 Dst 4.28.237.225 Service SMTP Policy ID 1 Src Port 64081
Dst Port 25 While I showed one log, there were multiple log entries showing the same: traffic being accepted through port 25 from 10.10.10.10 to 4.28.237.225.
Can you verify that the mail server is set up so as to allow port 25? "
Today I was able to telnet the server from home: successfully

Again, OWA is able to access and send/receive emails internal but never external even no bounceback just it never arrive.
Help me please. This is my first admin chaos...Hi,
Is there any update with your issue?
If the CAS and Mailbox servers are collocated on the same server, the SMTP Receive connection for the Transport service will listen on 2525 instead of 25. If you install the CAS and Mailbox on the same server, please make sure that port 2525 is open.

Exchange Server 2013 internal and external DNS records
I recently installed Exchange Server 2013 and I've register a pubic ip too for exchange server. How can I create internal DNS as well MX record for my Exchange server to send and receive internet mails. It's my first time configuring exchange for a organization.
registered domain name=====np.bbcmediaaction.org
public ip=====202.166.212.221Hi,
For external mail flow, we need the following DNS records: MX records for the domain part of the external recipient, A records for the destination messaging servers. For more information, you can refer to the following article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676467(v=exchg.150).aspx
Additionally, to ensure external mail flow works well, we also need to configure send connector.
For more information, you can refer to the following article:

If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks,

Mail keeps resetting the external server path for an Exchange server '07 account when the program is closed and reopened. This happens even though "automatically detect and maintain account settings" is unchecked. To reset to the correct setting I need to disable the account, make the change and save with the account disabled, close Mail, reopen Mail, and enable the account. Then the settings are maintained and Mail works great... until Mail is closed and reopened again. At that point the server path reverts to an incorrect setting. Anyone else experiencing this? Advice? I don't think this is a problem with the Exchange server because this problem did not happen with OS X Mavericks.
This this to fix repeated password requests....
Open Keychain Access in Applications/Utilities
Search for your Dreamhost accounts. There should be two entries (incoming, outgoing) for each account.
It's not uncommon to find old entries. You might want to delete all and start clean. The Keychain isn't smart and will keep all old entries when you add/change a password.
While you are in the Keychain run Keychain First Aid, Under Keychain Access in the Menu bar.
Open Mail
Open Connection Doctor.
If you see red for the account, enter the password again.
If you continue to have problems, delete the account then add it back.
