Link facebook to skype in windows 8

I bought a new laptop with skype installed in it. when I sign in I can not see any option where I can link facebook. does not matter if it is before login or after login. I tried every thing including visiting skype.com- login there and tried to change my account settings to recognise facebook as it does my live account. Some Body Please Look Into This. skype on win XP is better than this.

Linking with Facebook is not supported on the “modern” version of Skype application for Windows 8. You can install the “normal” Skype desktop version, where all Skype features are still available.

  • Submit: Great Skype for Windows Phone ideas

We have just launched a new Windows Phone idea board to let you all share and exchange your ideas on how to improve and develop Skype for Windows Phone.
Before you start sharing your ideas, here are some guidelines to help you get started:
    Idea Submission Guidelines
Search before posting. Do a quick search and make sure you are not submitting a duplicate. If the idea already exists show your support by giving kudos to the original idea rather than watering down the potential impact across multiple submissions.
Draft your idea. Be as clear as possible, tell us what your idea is, how it would benefit users and why you think we should consider it. That will not only help us to better understand what you want, but we may even be able to solve your problem more quickly another way. Please avoid text speak and keep the idea short and to the point. Ideas are available within a limited number of topic sections of the community as they are not discussion threads.
Currently you can choose one of the following topic labels for your ideas:
    Video Messaging
We‘ve just launched Video Messaging on Windows Phone so you can now send video messages to family and friends, even when they’re not online. Let us know what you think of Video Messaging on Windows Phone and any ideas you have for how we can make it better.
    Phone Integration
Tell us how you would like Skype to be integrated with Windows Phone. Would things be easier if Skype was better integrated with the People Hub? Integrated into the messaging app? Or in the dial pad?
    Contacts
How can we make it easier for you to find friends and family on Skype and add them as a contact? What are your thoughts on how contacts are managed on Skype for Windows Phone? Do you have any recommended improvements?
    Calling
Tell us how you would like Skype to be integrated with Windows Phone. Would things be easier if Skype was better integrated with the People Hub? Integrated into the messaging app? Or in the dial pad?
    Instant Messaging
Video calling is one of Skype’s most popular features. What do/don’t you like about Video calling on Skype for Windows Phone and do you have any ideas for how we can make video calling even better?
    Some things to include:
    Start with a clear title
    add appropriate label(s)
    list features and benefits
Review the ideas of others. Look at other ideas to see what your fellow community members are requesting and feel free to exchange on them in the comments section. While we take into account the numbers of kudos an idea receives, we also consider the amount and quality of member feedback when making our decisions.
Add value. Vote for those items that you like and agree with by giving the idea a kudos. It's really a significant way to recognize someone's effort. We are using votes as a barometer to find out more about what our contributor community thinks is important, so we can factor this into our prioritization process.
Submit a new idea. Adding an idea is just like posting a message on a board. To create an idea, click on the “New Idea” button, located on the left side of the page content tab, and in the left column under the actions heading click “create an idea”. Be sure to enter a clear title and description of your idea so others can decide how they would like to vote. Remember, the more complete your thought, the more likely it is to get noticed! You can use simple HTML, format the text, or add links or images. You can also preview your idea and check your spelling before you post the idea.
Do not be discouraged. Sometimes what seems simple may not be so simple to build. Some ideas take longer than others, and some ideas will not be possible within the scope of what we want to accomplish in the next year or so.
Be respectful. Comply with the Community Guidelines and Skype etiquette.

    Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Idea Board all about?
Idea Board is a new part of the Skype Community, where members can share their ideas about existing products and services. Anyone in the community can see and vote on the ideas you post.
We encourage you to give kudos and comment on submitted ideas as we are more likely to take the top kudoed and most discussed ones into consideration.
How do I navigate the Ideas Board?
Finding your way around the ideas board is a pretty straightforward task, here are some of the things you will see to help you get around.
    •  New Ideas – The most recent ideas.
    •  Hot Ideas – The most popular ideas right now.
    •  Top Ideas – The most kudoed ideas.
    The sidebar widgets
In the sidebar you'll find more ways to sort the ideas board, see new and popular ideas and the top rated contributors to the idea board. It's also really easy to view only the ideas with certain status', for instance if you only want to see ideas that are “Accepted”.
How to check if an idea exists already?
Use the search function filtering by the ideas board – or click here (direct link to search function)
    What do the votes/kudos mean?
Just as you can give kudos in the community boards and blogs, you can vote for ideas you like on the Idea Board. Ideas with high vote totals are more likely to be recognized and accepted by the teams at Skype who develop our products and services. You can also leave comments on ideas, but remember to be kind!
What do the different idea statuses mean?
We strive to review submitted ideas on a biweekly/monthly cycle. Each idea will go through a life cycle that will be assigned statuses at each milestone. The statuses are explained here:
New Idea - Sparkly new idea, submitted by you, and ready to be vetted by the community.
Comments Requested - Items set as Comments Requested will be open to the community for feedback and votes.
Under consideration - Idea has been forwarded to appropriate business team who is determining feasibility.
More information needed - More information is needed before our Product Management team can take this forward, please review the comments left by the team.
Duplicate - Ideas in this status have already been submitted in some form or another. We will link these items over to the other idea so you can review the status or track the progress there.
Already exists - This is available in the product.
Future possibility - Idea is a good one but not something we can include in a near-term product or software release.
Accepted - Idea has been accepted and has been taken forward for implementation, check back soon for updates.
Not right now - We like the idea but just not for right now, we will revisit it in the future.
Implemented - You asked for it, we did it!
My idea has been accepted. How long will it take to be implemented?
Sadly, we will not be able to provide dates for the implementation of any accepted ideas within the community due to the number of factors involved. Please be patient and let us make sure it is completely ready before we make it available.
How will I know if an idea has been implemented?
You can track the status of your ideas as your ideas are sent to the people here at Skype who can make them happen and you will see the status of your idea is updated. We will be telling you if the idea is something we are working on now or would like to do in the future, or if it’s something that is not feasible for us at this time. To ensure you don’t miss any updates select “Subscribe” from the “Idea Options” menu when viewing your idea.
What ideas have been implemented so far?
You can check "Accepted and Implemented ideas" topic here.
Can I edit or delete my ideas comments?
No, you can't. Be sure to check your spelling and preview your comment before you post it; you can't edit a comment once it's posted.
Who and how often moderates/ manages the ideas board?
The community team is monitoring the board on the daily basis and product managers will come in on a monthly basis to update statuses of the ideas and post their comments.
If Skype decides not to pursue my idea, will you tell me why?
We do not always provide the reasons for our decisions regarding ideas submitted for review but will strive to provide an explanation where possible.
I have an idea to improve the Windows Phone software itself?
Microsoft has set up a Windows Phone Feature Suggestion Box for exactly that purpose. Share your idea here: http://windowsphone.uservoice.com
If I am not comfortable submitting my idea over the Internet, is there another way I can do so?
    No.

I would really appreciate if you guys work on the feature “ custom backgrounds for chat notifications”.If users will be able to choose any image of their liking in the custom background feature if would add value. Currently some of the chat messengers provide this facility to the users which makes interesting to the users while improving user friendliness and satisfaction. Options that would include areTake a photoChoose from albumsSearch from webDeleteThat appears to be a reasonably robust selection. In search, a user can use a built in engine to pull up images based on search and then select it as it their choice. Once you chose an image, it will be asked to confirm and ‘set’ as the universal chat window for all contacts.

I want to get iBook, Facebook and Skype to my iphone 4.2.1 through my iTune, but I coudn't because it is said that it requires a newer version of iOS. Please I need your help. Thanks

If your iPhone can't be updated to a higher iOS version then the only way to get them is if you downloaded versions of them which were compatible with iOS 4.2.1 and you still have copies of those versions somewhere e.g. on your computer or on a backup - only the current version of each app is available in the store, and as apps (and other content) are tied to the account that downloads them, you will need to have older copies that are linked to your id

Facebook and Skype on 3G how do I install it?
    Can anyone help?

"VintApps" has tons of available apps for all those earlier ios devices.  And you can download them right to your ios device.  Many are free.  But once the vendor updates them past your maximum iOS, they can not be downloaded again.  Therefore, be sure to backup your iTunes app library every so often.

Although I wrote this 99 cent app store app specifically to help solve this problem, I need to add that "I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link."
    I hope you like.

  • Downloaded new OS and having trouble with wifi, bluetooth Facebook and Skype performance

    Dowloaded 10.2.1.537
When I first loaded this it had a lot of trouble finding my Wifi again and would disengage.  Problem went away after a few hours but it recurred this am.  Also affected Facebook.
Skype is loading more slowly and jumps to a black screen for 10-20 seconds.  Then it will load and function but only for a few seconds to a minute and then shuts off completely.
Launching Skype also resultd in my bluetooth headset being disengaged sometimes.
Reinstalled Skype to see if that fixed anything.
Tried turning off bluetooth to see if that fixed the skype problem - nope still disengaged.
Cycled my router and cable and still no fix...
    Running Z30
Would love to get a fix on this.

    Hello,
Given all of your issues, I'd guess that something did not go well with the update, and a clean reload would be in order. You accomplish that either through the LINK software or by obtaining an AutoLoader.

We have just launched a new Windows Desktop Client idea board to let you all share and exchange your ideas on how to improve and develop Skype for Windows desktop client.
Before you start sharing your ideas, here are some guidelines to help you get started:
    Idea Submission Guidelines
Make sure your ideas are for the right client.  This idea board is for Skype for Windows desktop client, not Skype for Windows 8.
Search before posting.  Do a quick search and make sure you are not submitting a duplicate. If the idea already exists show your support by giving kudos to the original idea rather than watering down the potential impact across multiple submissions.

Be sure to enter a clear title and description of your idea so others can decide how they would like to vote. Be as clear as possible, tell us what your idea is. Remember to include how it would benefit users and why you think we should consider it as well as scenarios that you think the idea would be used it. That will not only help us to better understand what you want, but we may even be able to solve your problem more quickly another way. You can also preview your idea and check your spelling before you post the idea.
You will need to select a label for your idea, you can choose from one of the following labels:
    Voice
Tell us how you would change the calling experience in Skype when making voice calls to contacts or phone numbers.
    Video
Video is one of the core functionalities of Skype, tell us how you would make it better!
    Instant Messaging & Contacts
How would you make the messaging and contacts experience better?  You can also include ideas around how you would improve the main user interface of Skype within this label.
    Sharing
Today you can share photos, videos, files or your computer screen using Skype for Windows desktop. What would you change or add to the sharing experience to make it better?
    Tips to draft your idea:

Include scenarios and use cases for how the idea would be used
    Add appropriate label(s)
    List features and benefits
Keep it short and to the point
    Avoid tech speak
Do not be discouraged if your idea was not selected.  Sometimes what seems to be a simple idea may not be so simple to build. Some ideas take longer than others, and some ideas will not be possible within the scope of what we want to accomplish in the next year or so.

Wait!! If you about to post a reply to this thread this post is for you!
You guys who have posted obviously have not read the first sentence of the long OP, let alone the whole thing.
    This is the wrong place.
Post them here which is formatted for handling requests:

If you are asking questions about skype issues this thread is really the wrong place lol. Getting an answer to yoru question will require a little effort on your part.
    First go here:
    https://support.skype.com/en/
Read through that page, if you want to narrow it down and search, use the search.
Since the search targets all skype forums, include which OS you are on.
However since you all are probably on windows, click this link and use search or browse topics.
Do not post a new thread without using search. Look for forum topics marked as [Solved]. Doing otherwise spams the forum and is globally known as inappropriate and poor forum etiquette.

  • Need to link two separate Skype accounts

I signed up for a Skype account with my Microsoft account but forgot I already had an old account with my exact name.  So now I have two different Skype accounts and would like to merge them and keep the old account that has my full name, "JaneDoe".
    My old account:  JaneDoe
    My new account:  live:janed_1
Yes, when I signed up with my Microsoft account I did not select the option to merge the accounts.  HOW CAN I GET BACK THE OPTION TO MERGE ACCOUNTS?  I've spent hours looking through community posts and it seems as though there is no solution.

First try to unlink your generated Skype account (live:xxxx) from your Microsoft account.
Try login into Skype profile website with your Microsoft account details, then go to the Microsoft account section and click Unlink.
You can now re-merge your old Skype account with your Microsoft account.
Try login into Skype with your microsoft credentials.
select "Alternatively, sign in with Microsoft account" option.
You"ll see the merge wizard. Select I have a Skype account.

  • Skype for Windows 8.1 doesn´t allow me to logout +...

I have two problems here which started after I got installed Windows 8.1:
    1) I seem to appearing online when I´m closing the Skype window (by dragging it down).
    2) I can´t logout from Skype for Windows 8.1 app
I already unlinked my Microsoft account from Skype account, but that doesn´t help at all.
Can we get this bug fixed and logging out option back it was like in Windows 8?
Pretty please, this situation is getting really annoying and I don´t know what to do :c
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The proposed solution DOES NOT work if you are logged into your computer with microsoft account. In this case Skype also automatically logs you in with microsoft account and you  are provided with two options only: either to link (again) your (just unlinked) skype account to microsoft or to register a new skype account.
In both cases you will NOT have the option to sign out. The only option to sign out from Skype is if you are not using your microsoft account to log into the PC (use a local account). If you are logged into the pc with microsoft account, there is NO WAY to turn skype off unless you UNINSTALL the windows 8 version (use the desktop one). As long as the Metro version is installed on your PC, it will be running. Always. 24x7. It will also be runing in background, even if you have "Allow this app to run in backround" set to Off, even if your lid is closed and your computer is in sleep mode (skype will wake it up every now and then

  • How to block send file with skype on windows store...

     Hi all,
In domain environment, we can prevent users send file through skype by GPO with adm.
     (Link: http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-archive/Blocking-file-transfer/td-p/1758460)
But with skype on windows store (Like: Windows 8 ), this way isn't useful.
So Is there anyway to we block send file on skype windows store?
     Thanks.

Sorry, that isn't a Firefox support issue. Try AOL support for help with that.

  • Skype for Windows Phone Sign-In Process Changes

Today we’re releasing an update for Skype for Windows Phone with some changes to the way you sign in. To help you get started, we’ve put together this short guide.
    What’s changing and why?
Instead of having to remember a Microsoft account for your Windows Phone and a separate Skype Name and password, all users will now only need their Microsoft Account to sign in to Skype for Windows Phone. You’ll also benefit from added security, privacy and improved password recovery.
Learn more about what’s changing in today’s update.
What does the change mean for me?
When you sign in for the first time after the update, we’ll prompt you to sign in with your Microsoft account.
If this is the first time you’ve signed in with your Microsoft account, we’ll ask you to link it to an existing Skype account.
If you’re already using your Microsoft Account to sign in to any version of Skype, then you won’t need to link your accounts again.
How does this work with multiple accounts?
This is a link between one Microsoft account and one Skype account. We recommend you link the Microsoft account you use on your Windows Phone with the Skype account you want to use on that device.
What happens if I linked the wrong accounts?
Not to worry, you can unlink your Microsoft account from your Skype account at any time. You’ll then be asked to link your Microsoft account again the next time you sign in on your Windows Phone.
Learn more about unlinking your Microsoft and Skype accounts.
What if I don’t remember my Microsoft account details?
You can find the Microsoft account that you use on your Windows Phone by going to the Start screen, swiping from the right and selecting Settings > email+accounts.
Once you have your Microsoft account email address, you can then recover your password if you don’t remember it.
Where can I go with questions or feedback?
You’re already in the right place on the Skype Community. Please ask your question or leave your feedback on today’s update in the comments.

Does the above quote  mean you can only use one skype account on your windows phone if I link my skype account that was set up with yahoo mail to my windows phone Microsoft account which is the same for logging in to my laptop that has windows 8.1 installed on it.
What i would like to do is to be able to sign in with either which I could do before the app update. The Microsoft one Is for personal use and the yahoo one is for work. I would like to keep them separate and does it mean nobody else can sign into their skype accounts  on my phone if its not linked to my Microsoft account.
    Hope this makes sense.
You can still use several Skype accounts on your phone, but you can link one Skype account to one Microsoft account.
If the Microsoft account you have for personal use is already linked to a personal Skype account, then you can simply use the Microsoft accont to log into the phone.
I understand your work Skype account is not yet linked to a Microsoft account? If you do not have a second Microsoft account to link to this work Skype account, then you can create a new Microsoft account and link to your work Skype account to be able to log into the phone with this account.
You can sign into Skype with any Microsoft account, does not have to be the one that is used to set up the phone.

i coudnt unsderstand through all the instaructions how do i connect the facebook users to the skype version 8.1.
    please help!!!
    thank you

    Hi,
For the built-in Skype app, it is the modern UI app. Currently, you can't add new Facebook in Skype for modern Windows. However, you can get the desktop version of Skype on Windows 8 so you can enjoy all features.
    Refer to this FAQ:
    https://support.skype.com/faq/FA12107
Get the desktop version from here:

  • Link MS and Skype account

    Hi Guys!
I need some help. I've read a lot of article and the HelpDesk here, but I couldn't find any solution.
Well, I have a Microsoft Account and a Skype Account. I'd like to connect them with eachother.
I know the official solution: login with MS Account, then click 'I have a Skype Account'....but I didn't do this at the first time I logged in with MS Account. Since then I'm not able to get this window so I cannot link the accounts.
Do you have any idea or solution?
    Thanks a lot,
    Adam

Answer in that link - there is quite a lot to read but keep going - it does tell you what to do if you have setup skype but didnt do the link thing first time round.
Looks like you have to unlink the account, and then link it back up - look for the following bit of text - it has a hyperlink with further instructions:
"If you want to link a Microsoft account you've already used to sign into Skype to an existing Skype account, you'll need to sign in with your Microsoft account, unlink the existing accounts (there will be one created for your Microsoft account), then go through the process above to link your Microsoft account to your existing Skype account."    - the process above is in the link at the start of my post here.
On the screen shots the bit where you link the account is a very small bit of text so follow it carefully.
I've not run through this myself but the instructions look fairly comprehensive.

  • Windows 10: Annoying "Skype for Windows desktop" notification on startup.

Ever since I've upgraded to Windows 10, I've been getting this annoying pop-up notification every time I boot up Skype. And it reads "Would you like calls and Skype links to always open with Skype for Windows desktop? If so, click Yes and on the following screen Select All and Save." There's an option to check "Do not ask me again", but it doesn't seem to have any effect, because it still pops up every time I launch. Whether I click yes or no, with "don't ask" checked or unchecked, I still get the same result. And whenever I do click Yes, I get a metro notification saying "To change your default apps, go to Settings > System > Default apps." Not a screen where I can hit Select All, just this message. This is a problem, because one, I'm being given information that's contradicted in a matter of seconds, and two, I shouldn't even have to manually change this in the first place. It should just do this automatically. But even if they do expect me to do this manually, they don't even tell me what to change or how to change it. It just tells me where I can change it, which isn't at all helpful! I tried changing the protocols to best match what defaults it wanted to change, and it had no effect. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled Skype, and it's still not going away. If anyone knows a solution to this, please respond soon. I'm anxious to have this resolved. Many thanks,- Sean

Nevermind. Apparentlly all I had to do was go into "Default Programs" through "Control Panel" and set Skype to default to all it's associated file types. Which is very misleading considering it was leading me into the modern "Settings" application rather than just to the control panel directory. Oh well, at least I figured it out. Sorry for wasting any of your time.

  • Problems installing Skype for Windows Desktop on my 8.2 system

My Windows 8.1 computer is telling me the Skype app has changed so I must uninstall and re-install Skype for Windows Desktop. I duly did this but I cannot access Skype, it won't accept my Skype name and password combination. Three times I have gone through the process to change my password, which takes me through the process of changing my Microsoft account password because I had to create one when I bought my computer and link absolutely everything to it. This still doesn't solve the issue and I have now reached the end of my tether with Windows 8.1. It's been nothing but trouble, completely non-user friendly and I am not a dim wit when it comes to technology. What must I do to be able to access Skype?

I've downloaded Skype Translator & that works on my tablet.  Why on earth did they 'break' the normal version of Skype?
